Diving is a unique experience that allows you to explore places that only a handful of human beings have laid eyes on, and with 72% of the world being underwater, your Open Water Certificate is your license to explore it.

Our courses run over two weekends or four consecutive days – please check the course dates before booking. The date that you select on this booking form is the commencement date.


Home Study | Complete 5 – 6 hours of online training prior to the course (this is included in the course)

Day 1 | 7:30am – 4:30pm: Meet + Greet, classroom session, and pool session (Kawana Aquatic Centre)

Day 2 | 7:30am – 4:30pm: Exam in morning and pool session (Kawana Aquatic Centre)

Day 3 | 6:45am – 1:30pm: Two boat dives (max depth 12 metres) followed by classroom session

Day 4 | 6:45am – 2:00pm: Two boat dives (max depth 18 metres), followed by classroom session and graduation

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS – Do you or have you ever suffered from asthma, wheezing, diabetes or epilepsy? – Have you ever had ear, lung, heart or sinus surgery? – Are you over the age of 45 years old? If you answered ‘YES’ to any of the above questions you may need to get a recreational diving medical that costs approx. $125 before you can be confirmed for the learn to dive course. We recommend calling our shop to discuss if this is required before you book. MASK, SNORKEL, FINS AND BOOTS EQUIPMENT Your Mask, Snorkel, Fins and Boots need to be purchased or hired from Scuba World to be able to complete your Learn to Dive course with us. TRANSFERRING TO ANOTHER DATE If a medical is provided you will incur a $75 administration fee – This is to cover the cost of your SSI online learning If a medical is NOT provided the following occurs: 4 weeks out from the start of your course date you’ll incur a $100 fee Within 2 to 4 weeks from the start of your course date you’ll incur a $350 fee Within 2 weeks from the start of your course date you’ll forfeit all monies paid for your course CANCELLING PRIOR TO COURSE COMMENCEMENT Strictly no refunds are possible once payment has been made. You’ll forfeit all money. If you return the promotional wetsuit unused and in perfect condition a refund of $75 for a 3mm, $150 for a 5mm and $200 for a 7mm will be provided. CANCELLING DURING THE COURSE Strictly no refunds are possible once payment has been made. A store credit will be provided for any unused services. This will be calculated on a case by case basis by the manager MINIMUM NUMBERS A minimum of two people are required to start a course. If we haven’t got minimum numbers seven days before the course starts we will notify you. You’ll have the choice to; Pay the difference to receive one on one personal tuition Move to the next available course Receive a credit to be used on goods and or services at Scuba World ADDITIONAL TRAINING Enrolling in our Open Water (learn to dive) course doesn’t guarantee a certification. You’ll be required to pass all the skills in the course. This will be determined by your Instructor. You may be charged additional fees to gain your certification. If you can’t complete all the skills required in the pool you’ll be required to complete a make-up session in our on-site pool. This will be charged at $30/hour (normally $90/hour). OCEAN DIVES The ocean training component of your course is weather dependant (and may be cancelled). Please be aware that you may not finish the program on the scheduled days. Back-up ocean training dates have been scheduled in the event of cancelled training. Check with Scuba World for exact dates. ADDITIONAL ‘MAKE UP’ DIVES Make up dives may be required for the following reasons; If you get sea sick while on our boat You’re unable to clear your ears You’re unable to complete the ocean dives due to unexpected commitment/s N.B. Each make up dive will be charged at $50. Make up dives will be scheduled to be completed in the next available course. COURSE COMPLETION Your course must be completed within six months of sign up (excludes any special promotions with conditions specified). If not you’ll have to start a new course and pay the full price. COMPLAINTS If you have a complaint, make the manager aware of this on the day so the issue can be resolved promptly.
