Bring your own toilet Unbelievably awful experience - a "luxury cruise" from hell. Toilets don't flush, you can use your imagination as to what they were like after several hours. Not only did the toilets not work, but neither did the locks, so my fellow passengers were constantly walking in on each other using the toilet in full view. On top of that there was no water available for handwashing for any passengers (and I assume same issue for the staff preparing the food ?). Eating from a finger food buffet knowing staff and passengers have been unable to wash their hands for hours (or flush their toilets) - lovely.
That is the tip of the iceberg, so you can imagine how bad the rest of the trip was! This company does not deserve your money.
I really wish I'd read all these other negative reviews before booking this trip, and I hope you don't make the same mistake we did!

Unreliable Operators who Can't be Trusted to Deliver Prepaid Tour - Do Not Risk It This company thinks it's ok to simply tear up contracts and ruin people's holiday plans because they can't get enough customers.Crap experience. We were there early at the dock at the right time and day but they cancelled on us, citing inadequate passenger numbers. Like that's our problem.
Weren't very polite either.
This is not how you treat customers who have prepaid and booked.
Don't book with this company unless you want to risk ruining your holiday.
Only by checking Tripadvisor reviews afterwards did I realize from seeing 17 other terrible reviews that this operator has ongoing systemic problems they refuse to address.

Two cancellations abusive customer service Didn’t actually go had to rearrange with another company .Very poor customer service.
Booked to go out on Sunday, which was cancelled the evening before due to whether which i understand.
Rescheduled at a much earlier time on Tuesday which was quite an inconvenience but we went with it.
Daughter had to rearrange an extended holiday.
Sister had to have another day off of work..
Received an email to confirm the booking the next day.
Only to have an email a few hours later to say it has been cancelled because not enough people had booked so was cancelled.
Obviously I was frustrated and rang to ask what was going on Had to ring free numbers. Nobody answered so left. A message, Was not disrespectful but obviously upset as I had to let my grandchildren down yet again.
Only to be called back by a customer service lady If you could call it that,
by a very rude young lady that didn’t know how to talk to people if she tried.
Told me not to use her as a punching bag as I’d woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
Which was not the case, she was the one who was very rude very abusive and that was not me.
That was the customer service.
I would not recommend this company to anybody it says 100% feedback on their website so they obviously delete the negative feedback so I wrote on Trip advisor to post this same review..

Best charter I’ve been on in the GC Best charter I’ve been on in the GC (I’m a local and have brought guests on a few over the years). The yacht was beautiful inside and a lot less crowded than other charters. The coffee and biscuits could have been a little better but that is seriously the only critique I can offer. I was looking for a whale watching affordable for me and my family near Brisbane. Not do long as well, 2h5. The experience was fantastic and magical. It was like a ballet between the boat and the humpback whales. The boat is really comfortable, they managed well the people on board to allow everybody to have the best experience possible with safety. You made my days guys, 6 years, after 3 different countries and few experiences where I wasn’t lucky to meet them, I finally did !

Absolutely amazing morning on Boattime Yacht Charters. My husband and I took a cruise and it was nothing short of spectacular as we sat up front and saw the whales quite a few times.
We even saw a whale breach close to us !
Hot chocolates & biscuits were complimentary too
The staff were wonderful, so friendly and ready to share their knowledge with us . I would recommend to anyone . Beautiful day, beautiful spacious yacht .
Set off on time and they made sure we sighted whales , they did a great job finding them

Whales were spectacular, alongside the boat for over an hour, magical! Boat was immaculate, toilets clean and plentiful, staff informative and helpful. A joyful time.
Why a 3 star rating? The admin was shockingly bad - terrible communications, erroneous emails cancelling, wrong times, contradictory - we ended up at the pick up point two days in a row and they don’t answer their phones, so you can’t reach them when you need to. This customer service needs to improve a lot.

Such an incredible experience from start to finish! The whole crew was so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. We were greeted with coffee on arrival, enjoyed a beautiful cruise on a luxury yacht, and were lucky enough to see whales up close in their natural habitat.
The atmosphere on board was amazing, and the staff made everyone feel comfortable and included. You can really tell they care about creating a memorable experience for their guests.

The boat is beautiful, very comfortable, well organised, and feels quite luxurious. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the entire trip.
The highlight, of course, was seeing so many whales, and several of them came amazingly close to the boat! It was truly a breathtaking experience and far exceeded my expectations.

We were lucky enough to spot several humpback whales up close, and the team positioned the boat perfectly for everyone on board to get a great view. We were lucky to catch a glimpse of some amazing leaps and the whales truly put on a show! (See photos attached)

Not the best trip but could have been weather??? After waiting for 40 minutes in the massive storm that hit after our booked boarding time, the group agreed to all run through the rain and onto the boat. We then waited at the dock for an extra 45 minutes for some reason before departure. The glass roof openings let water pour through onto the couch area below limiting the comfortable seating down inside for the whole evening made worse while we waited for the crew to depart. The boat motored away slowly onto our trip in the Broadwater canals. After about 2 hrs the toilets stopped working and an emergency stop occurred to allow pumping of the tanks. 25-30 minutes later We got running again with little disruption as it was a Christmas party with drinks and chat flowing, then we noticed the toilets not working again within 30 minutes of the unscheduled stop. Unfortunately/fortunately we arrived back at the dock 35 minutes early and most were ready to depart.
I hope others do not have this bad experience as it was what could have been a very memorable night in different circumstances.

Because of a booking mistake made by boattime I paid nearly $300 for a a very disappointing whale watching experience. I booked and paid for my whale watching cruise on Sept 9. taking with me 4 of my daughters in law sailing Oct 11. On Sept 11 I received a call from Boattime reminding me we were booked on for that morning sail. I let the gentleman know we were booked for Oct 11 not Sept 11. And sent him emails to show the booking. On Oct 10 at 840pm I received an email saying the trip was cancelled because of bad weather. My family and I were so disappointed but travelled down the coast on Oct 11 anyways. We found the weather to be warm with no bad weather around and reported only little swell in the ocean. I rang up again that day booking the trip for Oct 25. I only booked it again because I was assured by the woman on the end of the phone that we would see whales. This morning we had our whale watching tour and came back very disappointed. Not enough seating as people were sitting on the floor. During the tour the water was rough and the tour guide mentioned they go out whilst rougher seas. Which was different to what I was told when they cancelled our Oct 11 trip. And even though I was assured of seeing whales it wasn’t our experience. I’d paid for 6 people so this wasn’t value for money.read moreread less

The team were friendly, helpful and informative, the boat wasn't over packed and we saw plenty of humpback whales and their calf's breaching and playing in the water on their southern bound migration. Epic cruise!!! Highly recommended. We joined Mermaid Spirit Brisbane Riverfire 2025 and it was a fantastic experience. The boat was one of the biggest on the river and it made feel us very special and thrilled🛥️ The spot where we watched the army planes flyover and fireworks was super! Disgraceful company! I gave them a 1 star but only because it was the lowest option. I would of given them none if i could. Terrible company! We had booked on their sunset cruise and our baby was not on the itinerary so we couldn't go which I completely understand. They offered to rebook us on another sunset cruise or a whale watching cruise. There was a difference in price which i was told 3 times would be refunded to me. On the day they kept putting me off. Since then I have emailed and called with no response from the company. They have completely ignored all attempts to contact them. They are thrives. The whale watching tour itself was quite a disappointment too. For someone that claims luxury tours it was anything but. The cold instant coffee and hot chocolate you are offered is basically flavoured water its so weak. The toilets were tiny and not very clean. We did see a whale.
Would not recommend giving this business a dime when there are other better options literally next door.

The best experience whale watching I have been to, it was absolutely phenomenal! We saw lots of fin slapping and breaching! The whales were giving us a great show, I lost count at the end of how many jumps we got to see. To be within 50-100m of these beautiful creatures was an unforgettable experience🐳🐋
The boat itself was super spacious and clean, plenty of space to move around to different parts of the boat. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!!

What a beautiful cruise we had! The knowledge of whales and the encounter we had with an injured whale who needed help. So grateful that no matter what the circumstance is, whales are looked after on our planet and through my cruise today I was able to witness this. The beauty of nature and these wonderful creatures are amazing! Loved every moment of this cruise. It was also nice to get welcomed with a hot drink and snack, something to warm us up on a windy day. This was an unforgettable adventure! The weather was perfect — sunny, calm, and clear. The absolute highlight was seeing the baby whales breaching right near our boat and blowing water into the air. It was breathtaking and so magical to witness up close.

Try Surfer's Paradise River Cruises instead.
We booked a trip (for 4 adults) with them in the morning, online, and you make the payment online when booking.
In the afternoon Boattime Yacht Charters called and cancelled the trip.
Later that they they sent us a reminder text confirming the trip was on - so we were driving there, trying to reach them to find out what was happening. Is the trip on or is it off.
We were almost at the dock when we heard back confiming it was cancelled.
They should have shut down their booking slot the night before if it looked like they didn't have enough people to meet their quota.
Instead of cancelling the credit card charge they do a reimbursement.
Anyone usingin a credit card from overseas knows that the credit card company charges different exchange rates for charges than they do for reimbursements. So we lost money on that.

I booked a sunset cruise a month in advance for my partner’s 40th birthday, even confirming via email to make sure everything was in place. We turned up at the marina as instructed, only to find no one there. We waited over an hour, called their number repeatedly, and got no answer. Adding insult to injury, they have completely ignored my email inquiries since. No explanation, no apology, nothing. This was supposed to be a special evening, and they utterly failed us. We have been to a few whale watching tours around south east Qld and this was hands down the best. Our host, Anna Paula, was very knowledgeable and her commentary was top notch, not overwhelming as most tour guides are but instead quite informative and allowed plenty of time for everyone to process the information before moving on to the next fun fact about the whales. We were lucky enough to watch them breach several times, and it was an experience we’ll never forget. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to do it again next season. Had an amazing experience on a whale watching tour whilst visiting from England! This is easily a must-do attraction, especially at the peak of whale season, would definitely do again and I reccomend it to anyone looking for a peaceful morning to spend with friends and family!

It was a great time. We saw many whales and baby whales too. The crew was lovely. This was our second time on boattime, and it was amazing! We will be looking forward to the third time. All we needed was David Attenborough narrating!

My partner took us for my birthday & despite us both being before this was an absolute experience!! The terrific crew, the comfort of the yacht, the activeness & closeness of the whales encompassed an all round perfect experience. Would 100% recommend and definitely go with these guys again!! We went to the trip on Sunday. It was a wonderful journey with nice weather. My daughter first spotted the whale less than 20 mins on the boat. There were good comfortable seats on the top. The staff were professional and nice. We watched a whale breached 50 times! It was really awesome! At the end of the trip we also saw 3 whales breach and swimming together. The trip was worthy definitely!

Excellent whale watching experience Had a great morning. Lovely crew, most other guests were great and the whales out on a show for us too. Not crowded, plenty of places to seat and to stand watching the whales.The price of the photos was also very reasonable and the pro photographer got a better shot than I did
It was a bit choppy coming back in but definitely worth it.

A wonderful experience with an awesome setup! Coffee and biscuits on arrival with a 9am departure! We saw whales within 20 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! We sat on the top floor! Take a jacket as the wind is cold! Drinks and snacks available on the boat. A must do when visiting Qld! Luxury!

the worst experience - one to avoid whale watching trip we paid for online, it was cancelled shame they forgot to tell us this and we found out the hard way when we rocked up all excited and ready to go very early on a beautiful sunny morning but no one was there and no one answered the phones until 14 hours later!!If you want a reliable enjoyable whale watching experience we'd recommend going on the cruise from Seaworld - very professional and organised!

Sunset Cruise - fabulous! The Sunset Cruise was perfect in every way. Complimentary glass of bubbles and snacks were very welcome. The cruise was smooth and we saw a beautiful sunset. Our return journey was great seeing the party boats departing for a good time. Crew onboard were very focussed on great customer service. Highly recommend this cruise. Our whale watching tour with Boat Time Charters on the Gold Coast this morning was absolutely incredible! The staff were not only incredibly knowledgeable but also extremely friendly and accommodating. We were blessed with beautiful weather, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Went 14/08/23 for whale watching. Excellent service and experience, tea/coffee as soon as we stepped on. The lovely staff even held my hand when I got scared on the bow of the ship????Support awesome small businesses like this instead of big corporations (such as Sea world)!

My girlfriend and I chose this tour company and we were very happy! This tour was fantastic! We just moved from Maui and have been on several whale tours in the past. The crew were all friendly and very respectful to the whales, following the distance guidelines. The whales chose to get up close and personal - felt like seeing them for the first time! We had the best whale watching experience ever. We had problems booking through Groupon so I rang Boattime and they booked us through with a special deal. They even have some refreshments ready when we were on board. The crews were exceptional knowledgeable and friendly. Not only we were able to watch the whales but some dolphins too. Watching these gigantic mammals up close was amazing. Thank You Boattime Yacht Whale Watching. We will never forget this awesome experience.
