Day-by-day overview

Day 1 — Perth to Margaret River

Travel south from Perth into the South West, with time to settle into the journey and enjoy a mix of regional stops along the way. Highlights include Busselton Jetty, artisan local produce, lunch in Busselton, and a visit to the McLeod family farm before arriving at Margarets In Town, right in the heart of Margaret River township.

Day 2 — Caves, coastline, forest and Cape Leeuwin

Wake up in the heart of Margaret River and spend the day exploring some of the region’s most memorable natural highlights. From Mammoth Cave and Boranup Forest and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse,  this is a day of scenery, stories and iconic South West landscapes, balanced with lunch overlooking the Blackwood River and a winery tasting in the afternoon.

Day 3 — Wine, flavour and the journey back to Perth

The final day focuses on Margaret River’s food and wine culture, with breakfast in town, local tastings, a winery visit and lunch in an olive grove before returning to Perth. It’s a fitting finish to a journey designed to leave guests feeling they’ve genuinely experienced the region.

Accommodation

You’ll be based at Margarets In Town for two nights, right in the heart of Margaret River township — an easy, central spot to relax each evening after a full day of touring, with cafes, restaurants and shops all close at hand.

Your tour includes a standard hotel room as base accommodation. If you’d like a little extra space, a One Bedroom Apartment upgrade is available to select as an extra during the booking process.

Margarets In Town offers both ground-level and first-floor-level accommodation options. If you have any mobility considerations, we’d love to know — simply let us know during booking and our team will do their best to arrange the most suitable room for you.

Evenings are left free for you to explore Margaret Rivers dining scene at your own pace and expense – from a relax pub meal to a cozy wine bar or special night out. Our dining guide is a great place to start.


Luggage guidelines

Guests may bring one small to medium suitcase per person (recommended maximum size approximately 30cm × 45cm × 70cm). Vehicle luggage space is limited, so multiple bags per guest generally cannot be accommodated. Guests may also bring a small day bag or handbag onboard for personal items such as a camera, water bottle or light jacket. If travelling with additional luggage, most Perth hotels can securely store excess bags during the tour.

Seasonal packing guide

Margaret River enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wetter winters.

Summer (December – February) Typical temperatures: 25–32°C (day), 14–18°C (evening) Light clothing, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and swimwear are recommended. Evenings are usually mild.

Autumn (March – May) Typical temperatures: 18–25°C (day), 10–15°C (evening) Bring layers such as t-shirts, long sleeves and a light jacket. A light waterproof layer can also be useful.

Winter (June – August) Typical temperatures: 14–18°C (day), 8–12°C (evening) Warm layers and a waterproof jacket are recommended, especially for coastal stops and lighthouse visits.

Spring (September – November) Typical temperatures: 17–23°C (day), 9–14°C (evening) Pack layered clothing, comfortable shoes and a windproof or waterproof jacket for mixed conditions. 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Written notice is required for any cancellation or booking changes. Cancellation fees apply as follows: • 14 days or more before departure: Full refund • 8–14 days before departure: Up to 50% of the booking fee may be retained • Within 7 days of departure: 100% of the booking fee will be charged Where possible, we are always happy to discuss moving your booking to a future departure, subject to availability. No Shows: Guests who do not arrive for their scheduled tour departure will be charged the full booking amount. We recommend travel insurance to cover any unexpected changes. Luggage Guidelines: To ensure comfort and safety for all guests, we kindly ask each traveller to bring one small to medium suitcase only (maximum dimensions: 30cm deep x 45cm wide x 70cm high). Weight is not a major concern, but space is limited, and larger or multiple bags may not fit in our vehicle’s luggage compartment. If you’re travelling with additional luggage, most hotels in Perth can securely store excess bags during your tour. Please pack mindfully to help us keep the journey smooth for everyone onboard. McLeod Tours reserves the right to modify the itinerary, substitute venues, accommodation, vehicles, or experiences where necessary due to availability, weather conditions, safety considerations, or other unforeseen operational requirements. Accommodation for this tour is typically at Margaret’s In Town. If this property is unavailable, alternative accommodation within the Margaret River region may be arranged. Where this occurs, we will endeavour to secure a suitable and comfortable option for our guests. Touring vehicles may vary depending on operational requirements and group size.
