Your Experience:
Day One – The Journey South & Coastal Arrival
Depart Perth in the morning and settle into the journey south as the city gives way to coastline, waterways, and wide open skies.
After a relaxed coffee stop on the Mandurah Foreshore, continue to Busselton to visit one of Western Australia’s most iconic landmarks. Stretching 1.84 kilometres into Geographe Bay, Busselton Jetty offers sweeping views and a sense of scale that defines the South West coast. Enjoy a scenic jetty train ride or time exploring the foreshore before a waterfront lunch at The Goose, a long-standing local favourite.
In the afternoon, visit Aravina Estate, where elegant wines, manicured gardens, and the WA Surf Gallery combine to reflect Margaret River’s relaxed coastal culture.
By late afternoon, arrive at Smiths Beach Resort, your home for the next two nights. Set within a national park and overlooking the Indian Ocean, the resort offers space, privacy, and a true sense of escape. The evening is yours to unwind, take a beach walk, enjoy sunset views, or dine at Lamont’s Restaurant or gourmet deli (evening meals at own expense).
Day Two – Natural Wonders & the Art of Fine Wine
Wake to breakfast by the beach before a day that perfectly captures Margaret River’s diversity.
Begin at Surfers Point and the Margaret River Mouth, one of the world’s most famous surf breaks and a dramatic meeting of river and ocean. From here, travel inland to Mammoth Cave for a guided exploration of towering chambers, ancient crystal formations, and fossil remains dating back tens of thousands of years.
A scenic drive through Boranup Forest follows, where karri trees soar overhead in one of Western Australia’s most beautiful national parks. Pause to sample distinctive local honeys sourced from jarrah, karri, and marri forests.
Midday is reserved for one of the tour’s highlights: a hosted wine tasting and long, leisurely three-course lunch at Leeuwin Estate. Widely regarded as one of Australia’s most prestigious wineries, Leeuwin is known for its Art Series wines, refined hospitality, and exceptional cuisine. This is an unhurried dining experience designed to be savoured.
The afternoon offers free time to explore Margaret River township before returning to Smiths Beach Resort for another relaxed evening by the ocean.
Day Three – Coastal Icons, Art & the Road Home
After a final breakfast by the beach, begin the scenic journey north.
Visit Canal Rocks, where powerful ocean swells have carved narrow channels through ancient granite, creating one of the region’s most striking coastal formations. Continue to Yallingup Galleries, a long-standing showcase of fine Australian art inspired by nature, followed by a visit to Vasse Virgin, a family-owned producer of natural skincare and gourmet pantry items.
The tour concludes in memorable fashion with a hosted wine tasting and three-course lunch at Vasse Felix, Margaret River’s founding wine estate. Set in the heart of the beautiful Wilyabrup Valley, this experience combines exceptional wines, seasonal cuisine, and panoramic vineyard views.
Relax on the comfortable return journey to Perth, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.

The 3 wineries we visited were all lovely.
In general the scenery in the Margaret River region is just stunning.
If that wasn't enough, when they found my bus pass in the coach, Mrs McLeod offered to drive out of her way to give it! I don't think there are many tour operators who would show such care and consideration towards their clients.

I would definitely recommend McLeod’s Tours
I highly recommend McLeod tours to anyone visiting the area.
Thank you for a very memorable experience.

So much history, interesting facts, so much info!
Particularly appreciated Lincoln’s insightful and thoughtful guidance and care.
We thought this trip would be a relaxing way to spend a few days before getting on the Indian Pacific but it turned out to be just as much a highlight as the Train Trip.
Great memories.

The accommodation in Margaret River was excellent. Lovely big clean rooms with a kitchen supplied with everything you’d need to cook a meal including a toaster. We also enjoyed the close proximity to the beach and enjoyed walking there at the end of the days tour and watching the sunset.
The tour was a great introduction to the delights of Margaret River with beautiful white sandy beaches, Mammoth Cave and the excellent local wineries, especially Redgate winery, my favourite. The host was very down to earth and not your normal snobbish wine salesperson. All the meals supplied were excellent quality too.
I especially enjoyed Neil taking us to his property in Margaret River at the end of the days touring, which was not part of the tour and allowing us to feed carrots to his beautiful horses before reaching our accommodation for the evening. A very enjoyable experience.
All in all, a wonderful way to spend a few days in Margaret River.
I couldn't recommend McLeod's tour high enough if you want to not only visit the region but get that personal touch that larger tour groups don't normally have. Will hopefully return one day & again choose to tour with them.
Thanks Lincoln, thanks Rob, 100% satisfied.
Lincoln’s attention to detail and in depth commentary was an absolute delight!
The Margaret River region is superb and being made to feel like part of the family on the tour made it a truly memorable experience. Thank you Lincoln!
Highly recommend using McLeod Tours, professional yet personable
