Amazing food, exceptional wine, and the loveliest company!

We celebrated our anniversary with a beautifully presented three-course meal that was excellent value. The special-cut picanha was melt-in-your-mouth tender and paired perfectly with a crisp potato gratin. My partner’s stuffed chicken wing and gochujang octopus were equally outstanding.

The owner made us feel genuinely welcome, guiding us through the tasting and sharing stories about the winery. Milo, the playful German shepherd, kept us entertained chasing shadows around the area.

We’ll definitely be back in a heartbeat!

We stayed at Craigie Knowe Vineyard in our camper through HipCamp. Our host Glenn made us feel very welcome as did the well behaved farm dogs.
We did a wine tasting session which Glenn proudly told us all about each wine. We also got to spend some time chatting with groundsman, Whip. He is very knowledgeable of everything in this beautiful space. Highly recommend this vineyard and left with far too many bottles of wine. Even white wines that we don't usually drink!
Unfortunately the days we stayed the kitchen wasn't open but I have no doubt that the food would be divine. We'll come again when we next visit the area. Thanks so much Glenn

We stopped in at Craigie Knowe Vineyard over the weekend for a glass (or two!) of wine with my husband and father-in-law. We decided to treat ourselves to a shared cheese board, two plates of scallops, and an octopus dish — everything was absolutely delicious.

The standout? The scallops! My father-in-law hasn’t stopped talking about them for days — he loved them that much. 🐚✨

Craigie Knowe is always such a wonderful place to visit. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you’re made to feel right at home every time. Just one tip — bring along a designated driver, because it’s almost impossible to stop at just one glass! 🍷

We absolutely loved our tasting and lunch. The host was so knowledgeable and friendly. All the wines were delicious and highly recommend lunch at the restaurant. Best lamb shank I’ve ever had. Would visit again in a heart beat. Also, we got greated by 3 x beautiful dogs who made the experience even better. 10/10 experience!

Had a fabulous lunch stop and enjoyed every minute. Enjoyed tasting the entire line up of varietals. Hands down- one of the best meals we had in Tasmania. Petting and playing with the resident dogs kept our teenager occupied and we enjoyed seeing all of the visiting dogs that came in with other patrons.

Exquisite lunch with exceptional wines We arrived as a group of 8 for lunch in a wine tour. Beautiful backdrop of the vines, paired with the friendly service and exceptional food. The owner and staff were ready to advise on other local places to visit and join in our friendly banter. Wonderful time had by all.

Fabulous food Best food we have had in Tassie. Winery layout very underwhelming but food was amazing. Gardens are beautiful too. Well worth visiting.

Wonderfully unpretentious- make that just WONDERFUL! Absolutely unpretentious and superb dining at this out-of-the-way vineyard. The Pinot Gris is outstanding and the three course meal we had was fine dining at its best all under a giant marquee. Any restaurant where the maître d’ wears workman’s boots, shorts and a slightly grubby windcheater gets my vote as it has to rely on amazing food. And amazing is the right word. Every course was beautifully presented, full of flavour and completely satisfying. 6 out of 5 is my score. I fail to understand why eating establishments such as this have relatively quiet days. It was a Monday, but those wanting a top-class dining experience need to flock here. Superb work by the chefs and great service by Farmer unpretentious!

Had an absolutely delightful evening with Glenn. His chefs and kitchen staff have an incredibly good menu- everything I ordered tasted amazing and was beautifully presented. Other dishes looked amazing too. The wines were yummo… I especially loved the rose bubbles🍾

What an amazing experience. Must go! From meeting the unassuming Glen, and his 4 dogs, the experience left us absolutely amazed. The wine tasting yesterday, was so compelling that we had to return for the most exquisite lunch I have ever had here in Tasmania. Simply, the best chef in Tasmania. It was amazing.

We stopped in for lunch at Flora's restaurant and were blown away with the presentation and quality of the food. The wines were great. Friendly staff. Cute cellar door.

On arrival, you won’t realise that you’ve stumbled into a moment in time you should not bypass.
A culinary experience unlike anything we have enjoyed across the rest of Tasmania including Hobarts finest restaurants. Chefs Nura, Dia, and head chef Steve Keene have created a menu with focus on local ingredients by design, flavour exploration and diversity with an execution that surpasses fine dining.
Do not let the Tasmanian rugged charm deter you - this is what will make the experience truly memorable. 5 stars - would not be surprised of a Michelin.

Amazing place for lunch, the food quality and presentation is much better than many city based restaurants. They close at 4pm so it’s a pity it’s not open for dinner.

I was driving so didn’t try their wines but they have tastings too.

Best experience ever The most amazing place to visit. We had the mini degustation menu with a wine tasting and it was the best experience of our whole holiday!!! We will be back.

Wow! The prettiest food ever! We stopped by for a Sunday lunch during a recent stay in the Freycinet area.

The entrees and dessert were the standouts! Just the prettiest presentation - perfect for a spring day sitting in the Tasmanian sunshine.

For entrees the scallop ceviche, goats cheese pancetta and an ocean trout beetroot carpaccio were all amazing.

We were pleasantly surprised that lunch came to less than $75 per person including bottle of wine.

Mind blowing quality cuisine I usually do not write a review unless I receive exemplary service and am served outstanding food. At Flora's, I experienced both. Alex and his team were simply outstanding. The presentation and flavour of the food exceeded all expectations from a farmyard shack in the middle of a winery. All 6 of us who had lunch there said it was the best meal on our 9 day culinary tour of Tasmania. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT hesitate to make a booking at Flora's at the Cragie Knowe vineyard. Such fabulous value for money compared to the much more fancied establishments in Hobart and the east coast of Tassie. An absolute gem!

Beautiful, humble vineyard and restaurant. Flora’s restaurant was wonderful. They made us a bespoke dish off menu because we said we were in the mood for fish and didn’t have something on the menu that tickled our fancy. It was excellent! Highly recommend the food, the vibe and of course the wine!

Stopped in for Lunch at Floras at the cellar door of this winery today. What a superb dining experience. Food was absolutely delicious!! Also did the wine tasting which was well presented. The wines were excellent and ended up leaving with a couple bottles to bring home.

The wine tasting was outstanding! We had a delicious and well priced cheeseboard. Can't wait to come back, the highlight of my day.

Remarkable food and wine. Enjoyed the countryside's rustic ambiance. Thumbs up to the chef for a great meal especially the Lamb Shank, very flavorful and moist meat. Great place for lunch before heading to Launceston.

I had a wine degustation there and a cheese platter. Great service, really sympathic boss. I then booked one of their events 5courses dinner with wine pairing which was amazing too.

Amazing experience! The food was amazing! Creative and delicious! Presented by the chefs to the table. We’ve been in Australia and New Zealand for six weeks and this was our favorite meal! Absolutely delicious!
And, as we left they were moving sheep and that was a great way to conclude our visit.

Great vineyard lunch, complete with sheep Just had lunch here- the meal was wonderful, casual country atmosphere surrounded by vines, great wine of course and friendly service complete with sheep dog welcome - what more could you want- only the flock of sheep on the road in- tick!

The wines were delicious. Especially the sparkling rose and pinto noir. We were pleasantly surprised.
We ate lunch and can highly recommend the carpacio, gravalax and risotto.
The staff are really friendly and it’s such a relaxed atmosphere great for our kids. We got double thumbs up for the kids meals. Highly recommend to all.

A newly opened restaurant with a nice selection of menu items. A lamb curry was sublime. Did wine testing as well and got a nice bottle of Pinot Gris.

We arrived at Craigie Knowe winery by accident just before closing time on a spectacular Sunday afternoon in October. Exhausted from an early morning flight from Sydney that landed us in Hobart rather than the intended Launceston. Desperately searching for a coffee before heading back to Hobart we happened upon a small sign advertising a patisserie which we assumed must also serve coffee. To our surprise it was the Craigie Knowe cellar door in a barn set amid the vines. The owner, Glenn Travers and his family were just closing up for the day but invited us in and provided the much-needed coffee. But soon the conversation turned to wine, and out came some glasses and a tasting of the 2022 Estate Pinot Noir, a deep red wine with a nose of berry and a hint of vanilla. The mouth feel was balanced and well-structured with initial cherry and raspberry flavors blended with a hint of chocolate and ending in a cedary and soft tannin finish. Other bottles came out and we found ourselves revisiting older vintages, a 2015 Pinot Noir was particularly appealing, developing bottle-age complexity and nuance. The evening continued with other bottles being brought out, until it became evident that we could not and should not drive back to Hobart. Our host picked up the phone and in short order arranged for us to spend the night at Wagner’s Cottages in nearby Swansea, a complex of 100+ year old , stone, farm cottages renovated into luxurious accommodations in a beautiful garden. Realizing that we would need to eat too, he called the Saltshaker restaurant and persuaded them to stay open. We finished the day with perfectly fresh, briny oysters and roast quail while watching the sun go down over the bay and the Freycinet Peninsula. The serendipitous encounter with Glenn and Tristan Travers, their family and friendly dogs turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable days we have had in many years of travel and wine tasting. A detour off the main road to the Craigie Know winery is more than worth the time. Not only is the wine good but the owners make it exceptional.

Fantastic cellar door, with very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable staff. The wine tasting is really great, as are the treats on offer in the cabinet. All round great experience and worth a visit.

Great day visit, Great Pizza and wine We had a great lunch outside with great Pizza's and wine. Do yourself a favour and go for a visit. Service was great too.

Welcoming It was fun to chat to the owner about the estate and the wine making. They definitely have a good variety of wines that they produce.

If you’re down this way, this vineyard is a must see! The views are so relaxing, the pizza is to die for and they pair wines beautifully with chocolate. So good!

Excellent “one on one” vineyard visit with vineyard owner great experience Excellent “one on one” vineyard tour with owner. Rare insight into vineyard, whilst tasting great wines (with a little cheese accompaniment). Last visit of day, so got full attention of vineyard owner (90 minute tour in total).

Craigie knowes wine. Amazing outlook. Stunning patisserie. The playful puppies keeping our 2 year old entertained. Definitely my preferred east coast wine route vinyard.

Fantastic wines! Sparkling Rosé has got to be my favourite, with the Rosé coming in close after. Beautiful and tidy vineyard as well as wonderful ambience, loved that you turned an old wine making shed into the cellar door and you kept that precious history. Cheese board was sooooo tasty and the use of local goods is such an amazing thing to do.
You’d never expect a patisserie, winery and pizza in the middle of nowhere would you? What next? A barista? (To be fair that sounds like a good idea). You are doing yourself a disservice if you happen to drive past. Pull in, grab a cheese board, a glass of Riesling, and a delicate dessert. ????

So glad we check out this place while staying in the area. There’s no touristy fluff, just passionate people offering high quality wines, cheeses and desserts. Certainly a must for any foodies passing through.

Fantastic wine tasting. The farm manager personally took us through each wine, learnt so much. We accompanied our tasting with the Tasmanian grazing platter. Equally delicious. Couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Will be most definitely coming back.

This place was brilliant! We love visiting small family run vineyards. The service was great by both son and father. The wines were great. The cheese board was delicious although a little pricy for what it was. The place had a feel to it, sitting outside amongst the grapes and paddock. Would highly recommended!

Traumatised Went to take the three girls to get some pastry’s and the neighbours called the police on us hope you know that your beautiful vineyard isn’t tourist friendly due to your neighbours obviously valuing thier private roads over your need to create hospitality to visitors or tourist either talk to your neighbours or put signs up about the unfriendly people you have living around you

Enjoyable A great setting and charismatic vineyard. We had a very enjoyable tasting which came at no charge - unusual for this part of Tasmania. Really liked their resiling and cab merlot. Recommend a visit here.

Met Glenn the owner who gave us a great tour round the vineyard, the back story, culminating in the tasting in the rustic barn. Glenn was very entertaining!!
Highly recommend you seek out Glenn for your tasting. The barn was really groovy. We (6 of us) had the best time & would recommend this to everyone.
And the wines are fantastic. Pinot gris, Riesling & Rose are top notch, whilst the 2 Pinot noirs we tasted were more full bodied that many I’ve tasted. Crackers!
The 2017 Cab Sav was superb!

Great experience shared by the owner with us detailing the history & story of the winery. Thoroughly knowledgeable & entertaining...shared his passion & insights...wines were great.

A perfect pairing A great personalised wine tour and tasting board paired with mini treats. Glen takes his time to teach you all about the history of the vineyard and how it runs with his son etc. a great little patisserie is also happening here. A perfect sunset backdrop to our wine pairing experience.

Glen gave a very good explanation of wines Staff were very knowledgeable about the wines and was friendly and helpful.told us where we could buy his wines that were sold out at cellar door

We visited multiple vineyards in a row and Craigie Knowe was hands down the best of the lot. A really picturesque setting, cute dogs and great wines. What's not to love.
Be sure to try the wine and chocolate pairings they offer (chocolates are from coal river farm, also a great visit)

Great vintner! Country setting. Extremely friendly and pleased to help you understand wines grown in this region. A must. Go for the full platter and a bottle of riesling.

Stopped in for lunch and had a beautiful platter of local produce. everything was just wonderful. The setting is just divine. We sat outside as it was a nice day. The service was exemplary and the host friendly and knowledgeable.
We didn't try the wines but they have a great reputation. The highlight was the treats in the patisserie. Being unable to decide between the Black Forrest, Raspberry Cheesecake or Apple Delight dessert we took one of each. I expect some of the other offerings would have been just as good.
Taking the 3 was the right choice as each was fantastic. There were some hidden treats in them and the taste was awesome

What a completely wonderful adventure and wine experience. Such fun!! Our Host was the most. The Family hands down loved this Cellar Door. A must.
