Our day began with pick up from our caravan park just before 8am.
We then took the scenic drive to visit Charles Knife gorge, we were amazed by this rugged natural landscape as we ascend the road to the top, and learnt about the history of the area from our amazing guide Ash. The views from the top are second-to-none as rugged canyons fall away from the road (local's describe this area as Exmouth's mini-Grand Canyon) or as I thought a mini Katherine Gorge and and also views out over Exmouth Gulf.
After making our way back through Exmouth town, and up to Vlamingh Head Lighthouse to take in the panoramic views of reef and range. Enjoy watching some of the 40,000+ humpback whales that migrate past here from July to October. Though they were a long way out and all you could see really was the slash they make when they’re breaching.
We then started the journey into Cape Range National Park. Along the way our Ash provided commentary on the natural and human history of the area.
Once in the national park, we stopped at one of Ningaloo's iconic beaches Osprey bay for a refreshing swim and snorkel in the famously turquoise waters.
I said to Ash I hope we get to swim with turtles and that we did, it was the highlight of our day.
Whilst we were all in the water admiring the environment we were in Ash prepared a wonderful lunch.
Following lunch we continue the journey to Yardie creek where we boarded Exmouth Adventure Co's vessel, Spirit of Yardi. Enjoy a very relaxing time on the creek and wonder at the grandeur of the red rock gorges - a photographers dream. Delight in the abundant wildlife including osprey and their giant nests, and cute black-flanked rock wallabies sunning themselves amongst the craggy cliffs.
Amy, our guide, was the consummate cook (dinners were a full meal with several side dishes), kayaking guide and first-aider (not that we needed it, but she made us feel like everything was always under control). She was fun and always willing to share stories to inform and entertain. We couldn’t have had a better guide.
The group got together really well and had a fantastic 3 days! Thoroughly recommend this for adventurous spirits who would go back to basics and enjoy life as humans evolved to live it!
The water clarity was amazing as was the weather, wind and current. It's a fantastic place to visit and don't miss the opportunity to do the Hike/Paddle Odyssey adventure
The adventure started with kayaking... and I hit the jackpot by being paired with a lovely young Chinese student. We somehow managed to paddle in roughly the same direction, which I consider a success.
Our guide, Rosie, was absolutely brilliant. Her knowledge of the reef and local wildlife was incredible, but it was her enthusiasm that made the tour unforgettable. Every time she spotted a turtle it was, "Helloooo darling turtle!" She was like a female Steve Irwin—minus the khaki, but with the same infectious passion. She also assured us the sharks and rays around the reef were harmless to humans... I chose to believe her.
The snorkelling was spectacular, with crystal-clear water, colourful fish and turtles gliding past like they owned the place.
The beach lunch afterwards was almost as entertaining as the tour itself. An Albany couple proudly informed us they have the only Bunnings in the region (which apparently is a legitimate tourist attraction). Rosie then casually mentioned she's actually from Devon in the UK. Considering she looks and sounds like the stereotypical blonde Aussie beach girl, this revelation shocked the whole group.
Then came the biggest surprise of the day. My kayaking partner announced she'd only learned to swim a month ago... by watching YouTube! Moments later she dived into the lagoon and swam like a dolphin. Clearly I've been using YouTube for the wrong things.
Fantastic scenery, fantastic guide, lots of laughs, and memories I'll be talking about for years. Highly recommended!
The company is fun, friendly and committed to its customers - will be back
His tips to help us all find sea turtles, stingrays, and different varieties of fish amongst the coral made the snorkeling a highlight.
Would highly recommend.
The snorkelling spot was excellent and the mangroves with baby rays ad sharks was an amazing experience.
We thought the picnic snack was perfect too.
I will say the staff were friendly overall and offering an out of hours drop off is a very nice touch
The tour was 4 hours, with a total drive time of 1.5 hours. We spent just under an hour in the water and the rest of the time standing around listening to repetitive instructions from the guide and again on the beach making mostly small talk. The time in the water was basically 2 laps, going out 100 feet or so and drifting back.
It really felt like this company was just mailing it in, which is really disappointing because we will most likely never be back to this part of the world.
My next tour will be a longer one!
Thank you!
Lorna
The scenery was spectacular and we stopped at the lighthouse for panoramic views of Turquoise Bay.
We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this tour.
We chose the all day snorkelling, it was very good. We saw fish turtles an a stingray. Rosie our guide was very informative and helpful to my wife and I who were novice snorkels. She also provided a very pleasant lunch.
I would definitely use them again if I return to Ningaloo.
All the equipment provided is excellent quality and instructions were very clear and Rosie made sure we all had plenty of time in the water to enjoy the fabulous marine life including the beautiful turtles.
Followed by yummy snacks and gentle paddle back, I can’t recommend this tour highly enough!!!
My husband is a beginner snorkeller, and Carlton was amazing—so attentive and supportive. He was always right there, helping him whenever he needed it!
We saw stingrays, clownfish, and lots of beautiful fish. On the way, we even spotted dingoes and emus! Carlton is super knowledgeable about the local wildlife and Exmouth. A truly great day for us all!

Absolutely would recommend.
Everything is well organized and prepped for.
Guides are knowledgeable and super friendly.
Thanks Rosie & Sam!
I've been here before but this is definitely the best way to experience Ningaloo.
Being immersed in it, night & day and still not getting enough!
Our group WEA from NSW experienced 5 days of kayaking along turquoise reef coastline. The turtles, sting rays and a multitude of fish were in abundance. Each cove we paddled into we would snorkel and have a picnic.
Our camp behind the dunes was very well set up with clean comfortable tents and the bush kitchen was always dishing out delicious food.
The hiking was equally amazing as we were surrounded but the ancient fossilised landscape.
Our guides Neri and Jules were nothing but professional, hard working, fun wonder women who made sure our adventure was out of this world.
