Pre-requisites

  • Minimum of 14 years of age
  • Be fit to dive (answer NO to all the questions on the RSTC Medical Statement) or be deemed FIT TO DIVE by a Doctor
  • Swim 200 metres and tread water for 10 minutes
  • Student will require own transport for the duration of the course

The three-day course consists of three parts: 

  • After you book, you will receive login instructions for the online PADI eLearning Open Water Course theory. These modules and quizzes must be completed before you arrive at Dive Locker and start your practical training.
  • Practical training in the swimming pool, followed by diving at Perth’s beautiful white sand beaches with our experienced Instructors.
  • Your final day of practical training at Rottnest Island, diving off Blue Destiny’s 20m catamaran.

  2. Saturday 8:00am – 5pm
  3. Sunday 7:45am – 5pm

Important Health and Safety Information:
Prior to commencing your dive course, you are required to complete the self-assessment Student Diver Medical Declaration. A YES answer to any questions indicates there is a pre-existing condition which may affect your safety while diving and you must consult a medical practitioner, preferably with experience in diving medicine, to obtain a dive medical certificate that states you are medically fit to dive. Your medical must be completed before starting your practical training with Perth Scuba. 


Handy Tips

  • Ask plenty of questions, our Instructors want to help you gain confidence as a diver and they are here for you.
  • If anything is making you uncomfortable, let us know e.g. wetsuit too tight.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle so you can drink lots of water and stay hydrated throughout the day.
  • Don’t give up and stay positive! If you are having problems, you are not alone and we will help you through.

Flying after diving?

  • We recommend that you do not fly within 24 hours of diving. The earliest you should fly is 3 pm on the day AFTER your course concludes.

Do I need to be able to swim?

  • YES. You need to be able to swim 200 metres (any swim style) and tread water for 10 minutes

Once you complete your booking, Dive Locker Fremantle will issue your PADI eLearning Pass (within 24 hours). Remember that your PADI eLearning takes approximately 10 hours to complete, so make sure you give yourself enough time to complete comfortably before joining Dive Locker Fremantle for your practical training.

Welcome to your exciting PADI Open Water Diver Course – you’re going to have an awesome time learning to dive with us. Get ready for an adventure that will introduce you to the underwater world! 


PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL COMPLETELY BEFORE ACTIVATING YOUR PADI eLEARNING PASS 


BRING TO COURSE 

On your first day of the course make sure you bring:

  • PADI eLearning Record (completed including final exam)
  • Dive Medical (only if required)
  • Bathers/swimwear 
  • Towel
  • Sunscreen, hat, sun protection
  • Lunch (or lunch money)

TRANSPORT

You will need your own transport for the duration of the course.


ELEARNING PASS (ONLINE THEORY PRE-STUDY)

Soon you will receive a separate email containing a link to your PADI eLearning Pass. It will contain instructions on how to activate and redeem your online training with a code. If you don’t receive your PADI eLearning Pass within 48 hours of making your booking – please contact Dive Locker Fremantle immediately on 08 9200 4447. When you have received your eLearning pass, you will need to activate it to complete your dive course theory online. 


Once activated – this code will give you access to your own online training classroom. This is yours forever once completed. PADI eLearning codes – once activated – cannot be deactivated. This means that once you have accessed the code, there can be no refunds issued for the cost of your pass. 


Please ensure that you have passed your dive medical (if required – see Medical Statement for more information (attached) PRIOR to activating this pass to avoid any financial loss to yourself should you fail your Dive Medical.


COMPLETE ELEARNING PRE-STUDY BEFORE COURSE

Please complete all knowledge reviews, quizzes and final exam before commencing your course at Perth Scuba. Failure to do so will result in you being unable to commence the course until completed and will result in a $200 rebooking fee. PADI eLearning takes a minimum of 10 hours to complete.


Activating your PADI eLearning Pass is your acceptance and agreement to the Dive Locker Fremantle Terms and Conditions.


IMPORTANT – DO YOU NEED A DIVE MEDICAL? 

Please complete and sign the Diver Medical Statement (attached). If you answered YES to ANY of the questions on the statement, you MUST OBTAIN a Dive Medical stating that you are FIT TO DIVE prior to your course. Should you not require a Dive Medical (you answered NO to all questions) you will be required to sign a waiver stating you understand the risks associated with scuba diving without a full medical clearance. 


PRE-REQUISITES

You must be able to swim 200 metres and tread water for 10 minutes unassisted to learn to dive.


GROUP BOOKINGS

If you have booked onto a course as part of a pair or a group and one member can’t make the course date for any reason, the other/rest of the party are still expected to attend. If choose not to attend, a rescheduling fee of $200 per person will apply. 


MINIMUM COURSE NUMBERS

Dive Courses require minimum numbers to proceed. If minimum numbers are not reached we may need to reschedule your course to a new date that suits both yourself and our minimum participant numbers. Perth Scuba will notify you as early as possible if your course will not be proceeding as scheduled. 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Be minimum of 14 years of age to learn to dive in WA. Be able to swim 200m and tread water for 10 minutes unassisted to learn to dive in Western Australia. Complete your PADI eLearning and online exam before you arrive at Perth Scuba. Be medically fit to dive. If you answer YES to any questions on the medical statement, you MUST have a Doctor deem you FIT TO DIVE before your course commencement. REBOOKING POLICY: Please note that we can offer you rebooking of your course date free of charge ONCE, as long as the below conditions apply: • 7 days or more notice: Possible to change your course date free of charge ONCE. • 24 – 48 hours notice: If you have a Medical Certificate stating you are unfit to dive, have completed your PADI eLearning AND haven’t moved before. You can reschedule your course date free of charge ONCE. If any of these conditions are not met, you will be charged a rebooking fee of $200. • Less than 24 hours notice: A rebooking fee of $200 will apply. IMPORTANT: If you have booked onto a course as part of a pair or group and one member can’t make the course date for any reason, the other/rest of the party are still expected to attend.
