Don't forget to pick up bottle or two of olive oil.
every day! It was so good!
The food was incredible. I had the duck cotoletta (a duck schnitty for us Aussies), and Mum chose the duck risotto. Both dishes were beautifully presented, generous in portion, and absolutely full of flavour.
After lunch, our friendly waiter even took us on a tour of the dining and tasting rooms at the back, which was such a lovely touch. As we were leaving, it was pouring with rain. He noticed us waiting on the porch and immediately came out with umbrellas, personally escorting us one by one to the car.
A true gentleman who is clearly passionate about what he does. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The best part of our stay at Milton Park Hotel was leaving to experience such outstanding food and service here.
Mel gave me such a wonderful wine tasting — she’s incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely lovely.
Cosimo was also so welcoming and thoughtful; when I felt a little tipsy, he even offered me a complimentary Coke, which was such a kind touch.
Truly a memorable and heartwarming experience. Highly recommended.
Music , also the best! Next time I’ll try food instead x looking forward to come back next time to bring more friend.
The front of house was fantastic and great service. We made a phone reservation earlier that must have gotten lost somewhere but when we arrived the owner made an extra table for us which we were very impressed with. However I found the food quite weird.
The gravlax and rosti I had for the entree was quite nice and set my hopes high for the mains, however the mains we had were a bit strange. The steak I ordered was cooked nicely but was topped with a large bunch of raw spring onion, which really didn’t go well with it. This wasn’t too big of an issue though, as I could just remove it. However, the chicken biryani also had copious amounts of raw spring onion and raw chilli, and was served with bok choy. I usually love Indian-Chinese fusion but this was a real miss, as the Bok choy just didn’t pair well with the spices.
In all fairness, the duck we ordered was also served with Bok choy, but the duck was cooked very well and worked well with the bok choy it was served with, and this was definitely the highlight dish of the day. Finally we also ordered a watermelon feta salad. This was quite nice at first, until I reached a bite with - once again - raw spring onion. The flavour of it was just so overpowering, and really didn’t belong in the light and fresh watermelon salad. The watermelon was also served in one large chunk which made for very nice and unique presentation, but did get a little unwieldy as we were trying to share the side, though overall this was not that big an issue.
Altogether, forcing raw spring onion onto all of the dishes was a strange choice and just not tasty as every other bite would be completely overpowered by the taste of raw onion.
Barely a redeeming feature to recall of poorly conceived, terribly executed dishes. Two sides were completely forgotten - and not sure how you mess up potato chips so badly when you can get fresh Robertson potatoes.
Had the Entree Tasting Platter - octopus was great, but that's it - everything else a pale shadow of previously good meals. I feel sorry for my friends who had the aforementioned 'prawn toasts' - rock-hard overtoasted/burnt bread, and the prawns . tasted like bait prawns having been left in the sun.
The following meals were mostly edible, but only if you persevered, and had lots of bread with the nice olive oil.
We won't be back. In 10 years of living in the Highlands I can't remember a worst meal.
The starter we had were platters to share and they were so good.
Unfortunately, from then on, the food quality and the service went down sharply.
Great that we were served the Rose with the chilled glasses. When we done with Rose, we opted for their Riesling. The empty glasses from the Rose left on the table. for the whole meal (crowded table).
I had the gruyere souffle, sounds and looks great. No flavour "thing" with lots of creamy sauce.
Another guest had the chinese prawn toast. She was so disgusted with it. Hard as a rock.
We ordered cauliflower side dish and it never arrived. We glad that we didn't have it at the end.
One of us ordered potato chips, he had to remind our waiter before it arrived.
We didn't order any dessert , just coffee. I thought we live in an area for great coffee in Southern Highlands. Bitter and very watery.
Just to close my rant, their wines are beautiful and yummy. We left with some bottles.
I really hope they would and could improve the dining experience for everyone.
A huge thank you to Maddie and Mozzy, who were amazing servers and made my dad’s 60th birthday unforgettable. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail took the whole experience to another level.
Highly recommend PepperGreen Estate for anyone looking for a memorable and beautifully hosted dining experience. 🍷✨
We had a lovely walk around the pretty village after lunch.
(One thing to note, this venue is not where the vineyard is even though it’s the cellar door, so no vines to see…. but otherwise, fabulous!)
I told the waiter right away that we’d start with sourdough and olives—and before our seats had even warmed, they arrived, served with their famous olive oil. We couldn’t have been happier, as we’d been hungry for at least twenty minutes before arriving. Highly recommended to start the meal with the warmed soft sourdough with delicious olive oil and olives.🫒
My husband ordered an almond mocha while I had a soy chai latte. It is a cellar door, but wine just wasn’t on our minds 😅.
For our entrée, we shared the white wine and leek risotto, finished with salsa verde. Then for mains, we both had the duck leg confit with pearl barley risotto, orange and star anise glaze, and blood plum chutney. We left absolutely stuffed 😮💨 and deeply satisfied.
Even our cat enjoyed the duck—he kept giving me those looks as if asking for more 😅.
Not only did we leave with some great bottles, but also with plenty of laughs and great memories. Couldn’t recommend this place (and especially Sandy & Melinda!) more highly. We’ll definitely be back!
We absolutely loved every wine we got to try — each one had something different to offer. The cheese plate was gorgeous too — beautifully presented and so tasty!
We were a bit disappointed the place closed earlier than we expected, as we would’ve loved to stay longer and have a meal. But we’re definitely keen to come back again soon and make a day of it.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a relaxing, quality experience!
Upon arrival my wife and I were instantly greeted warmly and with personality and seated promptly. Our waitress was able to rattle off 6-8 specials all of which sounded amazing.
We ordered drinks and were brought bread and oil which was great.
I ordered the prawn toast with lots of fancy bits. Essentially it was an Asian fusion style with lots of bursting flavour and Asian style crab salad. It was so outstanding I would have another if I could.
For mains I had the eye fillet which came with jus, potato and roasted tomato's. It was cooked to perfection (rare) and had great flavours all round. It was chargrilled which added some complexity of flavour. I paired this with a great Shiraz.
Upon finishing our meal we had a look around and saw more beautiful dining space and out the back wine tasting in almost a bar style setting. Again beautifully set up.
As we paid were were recommend a few items they sell in their small shop and we purchased olive oil based soap, some hand moisturiser and a bottle of olive oil. All of great quality.
As we paid and were see out the service again was outstanding and friendly.
I couldn't fault this place in any way and highly recommend. If you do pay a visit you may just see me there as I will surely become a frequent visitor. Best in Berrima!
Would definitely visit again.
We also did a wine tasting with Mel and she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines.
Highly recommended! ⭐️
The menu focuses on seasonal, local produce, and the care in selecting and combining ingredients shines through in every bite. Standout dishes include the twice-baked Gruyère soufflé and the crispy duck confit, served with pear poached in red wine. For dessert, the crème brûlée with fresh berries was simply divine. The portions were generous, and after three courses, we left thoroughly satisfied.
The included wine tasting was an added treat. The sommelier was knowledgeable and approachable, enhancing the experience without being pushy. The $10 tasting fee can also be used as credit toward any wine purchases, making it well worth the visit.
The experience end to end was excellent. The gin tasting was led by a welcoming and warm host, she was knowledgeable and funny. The gin with cucumber sorbet was an unexpected highlight.
We followed this with a cheese platter and cocktails in the main restaurant. It was one of the best cheese platters we have ever had. Substantive enough for 2 to eat for lunch. Great value.
Highly recommend both the tasting room and the restaurant.
We couldn’t not recommended it.
Meals came out quickly & were well presented. However, the prawn toast was rather bland & the "rice toast" was hard & dry. The lamb was delicious but the Tortellini with prawns was a bit underwhelming with tough prawns.
I visited about 2 years ago and was not so impressed but it is now one of the best restaurants in the southern highlands and I chose to visit based on recommendations from people I know.
One thing I would suggest is that you teach your waitresses to look around regularly, I tried for about 5 minutes to get their attention as they seemed to be looking at something behind the bar. I had to almost shout out to get them to come to our table.
