Crime, dark alleys and dad jokes Thank you Mark, for a compelling glimpse into Sydneys’ criminal past. Also, keep up the dad jokes please!Cheers, Rowan and Sam
I will definitely be back to do other tours and learn more about the history and hidden gems of Sydney!
Cate was engaging, knowledgeable and an incredible storyteller. She delivered the stories with the perfect balance of suspense, history and just the right touch of humour. It wasn’t just dramatic crime tales — she gave us real context about Sydney’s past, the people involved and how those events shaped the city.
Walking through the historic streets at night added to the atmosphere, and Cate kept the pace comfortable while making sure everyone felt included and entertained.
If you love true crime, history, or want a unique night out in Sydney — this tour is a must. Huge thank you to Cate for making it such a memorable experience. We’d absolutely do another tour!
The tour begins at the Fire and Rescue NSW Darlinghurst Fire Station and takes you through Sydney and Darlinghurst for 90 minutes of fascinating, gritty history. Walking through the very streets where the Razor Gang era unfolded made the stories feel incredibly real.
Kate was outstanding. Her storytelling was captivating — dramatic, detailed and perfectly paced. She brought the crime bosses, rival gangs and 1920s underworld to life in such an engaging way. It never felt like a history lesson — it felt immersive.
She balanced dark history with just the right amount of humour and made the whole group feel comfortable and included. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does.
For $34, this tour is exceptional value. If you’re interested in Sydney’s darker past, this is an absolute must-do — and if you get Kate as your guide, you’re in for something special.
Highly recommend!
Big thanks to Sophie and Nash!
There were so many ‘dark’ facts that we wouldn’t have known if not for this tour.
100% really recommend it! Made our night!
Well done Ryan. Despite bad weather, he made it funny, accurate and overall very enjoyable.
Would highly recommend
The walk itself was pretty easy, the locations were not that far apart, so it would be about 2-5 minutes of walking at a time. 2 people in our group did it in thongs so don’t let the walking stop you.
Fascinating insight into Rocks history. Well worth doing with the family or if visiting Sydney in order to enjoy some local history. Really enjoyed the stories of the families and locations of years gone by. The Rocks was very different to the shiny facade we see today. Also fascinating to see the actual premises where these incidents took place.Do yourself a favour if you’re in Sydney and enjoy history or true crime, book with Dark Stories
The way you delivered the stories and brining history back to life was entertaining and interesting.
Well done, Keep it up and hope David gives you a raise ????.
