My son and I did the two day knife making course and it was fantastic. We ended up with two great looking knives thanks to Shane’s expert instruction, we will definitely be back to do one of the other classes.

My son and I really enjoyed the course! The course provided all the knowledge to get started and taught great techniques to get comfortable with the equipment. The instructor, Shane, was really friendly and supportive, and gave a boost of confidence for my son to take up knife making as a hobby. Will definitely be booking in to learn some more as we progress 😁 cheers guys!

Did the 2 day knife course with my Dad for father’s day, we both thoroughly enjoyed the creative process. Under Shane’s supervision we combined quality stainless steel, resin, liners, brass pins and a bit of artistic flair to create a long lasting, fit for purpose blade.
Plenty of knowledge was shared including heat treatment, tool selection, shaping technique, brands of supplies, and making your consumables last. Came away with a couple of spare bits and pieces for some future projects and a one of a kind every day kitchen essential.

What an amazing experience!!! If you're not sure, just go for it. An incredible weekend and not only did we learn so much but we came home with amazing knives. I can't wait to go back again for my next workshop.

Incredible class! Two days of informative, clear and concise guidance (and reassurance).
I chose a black and copper resin handle on a sleek skinning blade, my counterpart chose a beautiful wooden handle on the same skinning blade. They really do capture the eye and worked beautifully on the pork belly I made when I got home.

The workshop focuses on safety, and follows a step-by-step format rather than just letting people go rogue and inevitably injuring themselves.
That means that even someone who has never touched a power tool in their life could still safely create a knife that'll last a lifetime - which is backed by the shops guarantee.

All in all a wonderful experience and we're already making plans to be back!

I must say it was an absolutely Awesome experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile and felt welcomed into the world of blade craftsmanship.

The instructor leading the course was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also had a remarkable ability to convey information in an easily understandable manner. Whether you were a complete beginner or had some experience in knife making, the instructor's guidance catered to every level of expertise. They patiently addressed any questions or concerns anyone had, ensuring that everyone had a comprehensive understanding of the knife-making process. It was evident that their wealth of knowledge and experience in the craft truly benefited all participants.

One of the highlights of this course was the opportunity to speak with Jake, the armourer. Learning from him about the different swords he was crafting and the historical significance behind each one was truly captivating. His passion for his work and his ability to share the intricate details of the swords he worked on added an extra layer of depth to the overall experience.

Completed the knife making course with Shane. An outstanding experience. The workshop is well laid out and safe. The course instruction was done at a pace that suited all participants, and I left with both a set of new skills and a fabulous new chefs knife. Took the beginners blacksmithing course and it was brilliant. Fun morning of banter and learning. The team were happy to let you learn and make your own mistakes and just as happy to teach you how to fix them. End product was brilliant but the experience itself is worth going back for. 5☆ would recommend as a gift or with a friend/partner.

Great afternoon/evening, Shane was very patient & gave the confidence to have a go at each process while still being prepared to step in & help where required. The knife came out great & the Veges for dinner have never cut quite as quickly or well as tonight.

Took my father to the 1 day knife making class as a present. Had an absolutely fantastic time!

The team were amazing, funny and really helpful. They walk you through every step and you can do as little or as much as you’re capable of/comfortable with. Super beginner friendly but they also have enough knowledge to keep you engaged if you are of a higher skill level. It was so fun watching the progress from start to finish too!

It attracted a lovely group of people and despite being in a big group they still managed to pay attention to all of us individually. Overall the experience was amazing, I can’t wait to go back and complete another class there!

Loved the whole process of the 2 Day Knife course. The facilities were excellent. The teaching was practical and easily understood. Shane and the team had a wealth of knowledge to ask all the questions and more. One of the more memorable things I have ever done cant recommend it enough.

I highly recommend Savage Custom Knives. We had a great time participating in their 2 day knife making class as a family. Shane our instructor was awesome and we finished the class with 4 very good quality knives and a great experience. A week on and I have taken great delight in replacing my old kitchen knives with my new chef knife, and I look forward to using it for years to come.

Just completed the Blacksmithing 1 day workshop.( made an awesome knife)WOW had an absolutely great day and learnt so much from Nick. Great set up well equipped workshop with enough workstations for everyone to participate at the same time. Highly recommend for anyone and everyone. My wife , two daughters and mother in law completed the 2 day knife making work last year and they thoroughly enjoyed it. So I received this great gift for my birthday this year. Looking to go again to make some more memories and another useful tool to use.

The 2 day knife making course is sensational! Shane has spent a lot of time honing the course to bring the black art of smithing into the 21st century using quality materials and super efficient methods with machinery. He has carefully crafted the course so that ALL levels of experience are catered for in the one extremely supportive class. You can do as much or as little of each carefully explained and demonstrated step as you feel comfortable with. Under his ever vigilant eye every one of my family and the other father/son class members came away with an amazingly useful and beautifully balanced knife, of which we all can be proud, following a fun and highly educational 2 days. he breaks down the process into logical fun steps, the classes are small and the atmosphere is friendly and easy going. the end product is in my opinion a high quality very usable knife. I highly recommend this course. I enjoyed it so much I stayed for another , the Japanese Chef Knife course.
Nick ran this course, Forging a knife from a flat bit of steel is a rewarding experience. Nick breaks down the steps in the daunting forging process and keeps the class fun. the results speak for themselves.

My husband bought the two day knife course for us as a shared experience. We both made our own knives and I loved learning about the knife making process and making my own fantastic knife. The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful, and everyone in our class was delighted with their finished products.

Had an absolute blast doing a blade course. I highly recommend doing one of their courses. Shane and Nick both have excellent knowledge and are great teachers. Having no experience in making a blade I think the knife turned out awesome. Thanks guys.

I did the one day course at Savage and had an absolutely amazing time. Shane is a great teacher and provided a relaxed, laid back environment which definitely helped made me feel comfort while trying something that is completely new to me. My wife, son and I completed this course last weekend as a birthday gift to me. The course was excellent! My wife had not done anything with metal before and was a bit apprehensive with the process. With Shane's (the instructor) easy teaching style we were quickly put at ease. We could do as much or as little of the process as we liked but Shane ensured we took home a usable,
well made product. We each created our own unique knife to take home at the end of the 2nd day. We all left thrilled with what we had achieved in the two days and can't wait to try the black smithing course!

2 nice short days with the savage crew learning cutting, grinding, shaping, resin work and other skills. Used all the tools and produced a cool knife that I will treasure. Thanks Shane.
