Informative & on it. We were so lucky to have 3 separate dives with the Whale shark & each time the crew was great with making sure it all ran smoothly & we could get straight into the water.
The food was great, snacks, lunch & fresh fruit provided - I have intolerances & the crew made sure I was aware of what I could eat (opting for alternatives so I was fed well).
Quick Shout out to all the crew, Caitlin on the camera, Tilly & Jonah in the water with us, making sure we were safe, Mitch - the on board plumber & skipper Zach cruising us around & attentive on the radio communicating with the spotter planes to make sure we got to swim with that whale shark.
All and all a 10/10 day, would recommend to a friend.
The lunch was delicious with ample food for everyone. The snorkelling before and after our whale shark swims was very calm and gorgeous coral, fish, sharks and turtles. Highly recommend this company and trip.
The whales sharks were unreal! We started with a snorkel to test our gear and see the reef sharks, stingrays, fishies and coral. Then, out to the open water. We were lucky enough to get a shark almost straight away. So, they were very fair to ensure everyone was supported and got to swim with the shark. Also, we did it 3x which was amazing!!!! Then, as a bonus, we got to jump in the back reef where we saw a tiger shark! AH!
I HIGHLY recommend this.
The crew - Tash, Derrick, Zac, Bella and Sam - were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, making sure guests of all ages, backgrounds and abilities were looked after.
We could not recommend this tour highly enough! It was great value for money and was the highlight of our trip.

This was a last-minute bucket list trip and it exceeded all expectations. Even though it’s shoulder season, we were lucky enough to see three whale sharks, and swim with them - I had two unforgettable close encounters that were absolutely awe-inspiring. These gentle giants are simply breathtaking.
A massive shout-out to Bella, who made sure everyone had an amazing swim experience in the water, to Tasha for capturing stunning photos, and to Derek and the rest of the incredible crew for their knowledge, support, and warm, welcoming energy. The camaraderie onboard added so much joy to the day.
Beyond the whale sharks, we were treated to bonus sightings of breaching humpback whales, playful dolphins, gliding sea turtles, and even a snoozing stingray during the reef snorkel. The reef was alive with vibrant marine life—absolutely magical.
I can’t recommend this trip enough. The catamaran was smooth and spacious, and the entire Ningaloo Discovery team was exceptional. A heartfelt thank you from me, Amanda, for making this such a memorable, inspiring, and anxiety-free adventure!
Our two daughters (6 & 9 years old) came with us and we had a special day. The waves got us girls a little bit noscious, but nevertheless we got to experience lots of good stuff.
As we came on board we all had our wetsuits and snorkeling gear handed to us. After a good safety instruction it was about to be time to get in the water for a snorkle. Both our girls were happy to go in with the noodles the crew handed out.
Then out at the back of the Reef, we got to swim with manta's. The sea was a bit more rough and I was not that confident so decided not to go back in. Husband did enjoy all the jumps in the water. Us girls had our eyes on the horizon. In the meanwhile we got to see a humpback calf bridge, AMAZING!
After lunch, suddenly there was a Whale shark. As I said, I decided not to go back in. Big thanks to Tilly! She came over and asked if I was sure. She promised to take care of me and she certainly did! I went in and got to swim with the Whale shark. If Tilly didn't come to me, I would have missed it. Just can't thank her enough. So super happy!
After two jumps in with the Whaleshark we got back inside the reef where we were treated with the sight of three dugongs (and some bubbles on deck). Amazing day! We look forward to the photos taken bij Holly.
Thanks to the crew, especially Tilly!
Zach was our skipper on both trips and a great laugh. Tash our photographer and I’ll let her pictures do the talking and the rest of the crew, I’m sorry I forgot names but they were all amazing. Would 100% go with them again!
The crew was very friendly, competent and went out of their way to make it a memorable experience. Also great that professional photos are part of the package. Thanks all
A special thank you to Derick, who went above and beyond taking care of our parents. They were quite nervous about getting in the water, but Derick’s patience, encouragement, and genuine care made all the difference — helping them feel safe and confident enough to swim with the whale sharks. We are so grateful for the support he gave them throughout the day!
Bella and Tash were also absolutely fantastic – warm, professional, and full of positive energy. They created such a welcoming and fun atmosphere, making sure everyone on board felt comfortable, informed, and excited. Their enthusiasm for what they do is infectious!
The whole crew were brilliant. Even though we can’t remember their names, the skipper and deckhand were fantastic too – incredibly friendly, professional, and made sure everything ran smoothly. You could really tell the whole team loved what they do, and it made the day that much more special.
We can’t recommend Ningaloo Discovery highly enough. Thank you again to Derick, Bella, Tash, and the entire crew for making April 24th a day we’ll never forget!
They have the most amazing under water photographer Tash and you get access to the photos. Top quality and at no extra cost. The lunch on board was so good. Thanks for an incredible day out. It is so worth it! A must to book with this company. Without a doubt!
Reef beautiful and vibrant
Great pick up from hotel , easy transfer to catamaran via tender
Well equipped boat , ample food and drink on board
Knowledgeable instructive crew , safety a priority
Need to be reasonable swimmer
I’d recommend sun proof top to protect if not using wetsuit
Sea a little choppy outside the reef
Good pace to the day Early start and timely finish
Value for money
Special mention to Christie for supporting and encouraging us in the water as we are not strong swimmers.
Also to Caitlyn for our beautiful photos and working extra hard to help me get a photo alongside a whale shark.
Without you two we wouldn’t have been able to swim with them at all and tick it off the bucket list.
Such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. Will happily recommend Ningaloo Discovery to anyone. 💙🤿
Can highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an experience like no other. A huge thank you to the crew - Caitlin (our very talented photographer), Nichole, Chrissy, Toby & Mitch - 10/10, you guys were the best. We’ll be back.
We were lucky enough to see the one beautiful shark and get to swim with it three times.
The entire crew made our day so special. The enthusiasm and zest for life and passion for the beautiful animals we got to see made our day. The whole crew were extremely knowledgeable and helped nervous members of our group feel comfortable.
I never appreciated the effort and coordination that goes into helping us experience the beauty of these amazing animals and the reef. Thank you to Derek, Tash, Nicole, Lizzy and Sam for making our day truly unforgettable.
The skipper and spotter plane put us right on the best whale shark and the crew helped us swim so many times while ensuring the whale shark was not disturbed and we were having the best view. Throughout the day we enjoyed morning tea, a snorkel on inner reef and a delicious lunch before a final snorkel to end the day.It was lovely when the sails went up too.
The crew also managed to put us into the water to see Manta Rays and an Oceanic ray up close too.
On our way home the cargo net ride was so much fun. A complimentary champagne was enjoyed while seeing humpback whales and turtles on way home.
Best photos ever were taken of the whole day by the underwater camera girl ‘Ash’. These amazing photos were all included in the price of our tour. We highly recommend Ningaloo Discovery on the sailing catamaran with this amazing team of people who are passionate about Ningaloo reef.
I'm chuffed as, I'll be back again for sure.
Shoutout to Holly/Morgan/Lizzy/Alya for taking such good care of us. The planning and operation behind this tour is defs worth your $500+ for an experience for a lifetime
We managed to see 4 whale sharks and I had 5 swims.
Take your sea sickness tablets prior to getting onto the boat
The whale sharks were so amazing it still doesn't feel like it was real.
Everything was so well organised and set up to make sure we had the best experience possible.
It's a once in a lifetime experience and the staff know that, and make sure everything is perfect.
They looked after our two kids so well, I didn't have to worry about them (9 and 11) in the sea.
They even took extra special care of a gentleman with health concerns, as swimming with the sharks was on his bucket list, Josh and Caitlyn went above and beyond with him. From such young staff it was touching to see the kindness and generosity they showed to him
10 stars !!
The team's infectious smiles and positive attitudes created a welcoming and friendly atmosphere that enhanced the overall experience.
Their knowledge about whale sharks and the marine ecosystem was impressive, offering insightful information that enriched our understanding and appreciation of these gentle giants.
Diving with whale sharks under the guidance of such a passionate and expert crew was a memorable adventure that will be cherished for a long time.
The team truly made it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Thanks a lot to the whole team for the memorable day.
Ningaloo Discovery had free pick up but we chose to meet them at the Tantabiddi boat ramp. The tour had a max capacity of 20 due to the WA whale swimming rules so the boat wasn’t too crowded.
On this tour we saw so many things we hadn’t see before - false killer whales (big black dolphin-like animals), flying fish - plus we finally swam with Humpback whales and mantas! The most amazing thing we saw was a sail fish. A very rare sight. The onboard staff had never seen one before.
Swimming with the whales was a surreal moment but one that happened quite quickly. They have a spotted plane tracking the whales and when instructed we had to jump in the water and swim very quickly and get in position. The whales then changed course and we had to swim back the way we came. After a few goes of this we stuck our heads in the water and WOW! What beauties! There were 3 whales: baby, mumma and, at the bottom, what they call an escort. Of course, in all the rush, the GoPro decided to not work so we have no footage ️ but the onboard photographer took some amazing shots. Note: you need to be a confident and competent swimmer to swim with the whales.
After a couple of hours in the open ocean we headed back to the reef and had a swim in the crystal clear blue water. Such a breathtakingly beautiful spot where we saw lots of fish and turtles.
It was a truly amazing day out and we highly recommend this tour. And if you needed another reason to go on this tour - after a couple of days they email you all the photos from the day, for free! Many of the photos in this post were taken by the talented Ningaloo Discovery photographer
We were taken to a beautiful reef to practice our snorkelling after being given snorkelling lessons.
Then we went out to the deep and very quickly due to the spotter plane we were swimming with a huge and gentle Whale Shark. We had a fantastic chance to swim with this ocean behemoth for a really long time.
All if the crew were friendly, kind and very knowledgeable. Everything about the day was great.
Ningaloo Discovery helped me realise a dream of swimming with a Whale Shark that I have had for 48 years.
They looked after all ages from young children to people in their sixties with outstanding service and attention to detail.
Thanks from a very happy and satisfied customer,
Love Tricia.
I have already recommended Ningaloo Discovery to other travellers and will 100% come back if I ever make it back to this incredible part of Australia.
I can’t even express how good this was, so you’ll just have to experience it for yourself!
They orchestraded an unforgettable experience managing to get the whole party to swim with a number of humpback whales, whale sharks and manta rays. We will recommend Ningaloo Discovery tours to all as we share our epic adventure for years to come. Thank you, China, Tash, Gloria and Claudia
Wecan't wait for the photos which are also part of the package, how good!
We were picked up at the nominated point exactly on time. We had a brief wait at one of the pickup points while people were delivered who had just arrived on a flight. We were kept informed of timings at all time. Once on the powerboat we were kitted out and fitted with wetsuits and snorkelling equipment and our prescription snorkelling mask was attached to their far superior snorkel kindly and efficiently. The safety briefing was clear and comprehensive and the preliminary snorkel described perfectly as a test of abilities and equipment with the opportunity of a longer snorkel later promised. Our three swims with the whale shark were simply fantastic. The staff were at all times good humoured and responsive and a real credit to their employer. There were tasty and healthy snacks and a lunch served. We would not hesitate to recommend or book this tour again and this is in the context of us having also spent a day with another tour operator who while good were simply not great like this tour. The photos which were taken by the incredibly talented Ash and included in our booking are fantastic and will be admired and cherished always.
Thank you!
The crew were almost as amazing as the whale sharks were. They honestly could not have been more friendlier or helpful. Nothing was a problem for them
As for tge whale sharks, well 4 dives on 3 different sharks left me with a bigger smile than the sharks. In fact, 2 days later I am still smiling
As for the cost, well it was worth every cent.
A once in a life time bucket list experience.
Well done to the crew and Ningaloo Discovery
The Office Manager Meghan was so helpful in booking me a tour that worked with my schedule. The crew, Friendly and knowledgeable work together seamlessly! We boarded a beautiful catamaran and before we even set off we saw two sea turtles doing their part to insure the population for generations to come! We had a quick snorkel in the lagoon on top of some of the most impressive reef systems I’ve ever seen. Then on to deeper waters. Immediately upon completion of the Whale Shark safety brief we were informed that one was spotted in the area. We headed right over and got to swim with the biggest fish in the ocean, TWICE! Liv the photographer was able to get a picture of me next to this massive animal! Not only that, we saw heaps of humpback whales! Breaching and waving at us close and from a far. Such an impressive spectacle! We also had the opportunity to be towed behind the catamaran on a cargo net. I felt like Kevin Costner in the movie water world! The crew provided us with a delicious spread for lunch and celebratory bubbles on the way back to shore.
They took us on an adventure of a lifetime that I’ll never forget! I am eternally grateful!!!
We were late in the season so only got one swim with a whale shark but it was one to remember!
The staff tried super hard to get us a second swim unfortunately it didn’t happen but we still had the best time!
Saw so many hump back whales and even a southern right whale.
Would definitely recommend this tour company, the staff were super passionate and knowledgeable!
