Swim With The Dolphins
Duration:
Operated By:
Join us for an intimate swim with the wild bottlenose dolphins in their natural environment. This tour is our most popular and exhilarating experience. Accompanied by our experienced tour guide and trained volunteers you will venture into the protected waters of Koombana Bay, the home of over 100 dolphins.
Depending on dolphin sightings you will be guided into the water where the dolphins may elect to initiate interaction with the swimmers.
We guarantee you to see wild dolphins in the water otherwise you can go again for free (subject to availability). As they are wild animals we cannot predict the level of interaction you may encounter as this is entirely up to the dolphins. An award-winning tour guaranteed to thrill designed and created by Marine Biologists with the welfare of the dolphins at the highest priority.
Every tour is also a research and conservation trip as our staff and volunteers document animal populations, behaviour and much more that you can participate
in. With your purchase you support our conservation, education, and research projects as an environmental charity and not-for-profit organisation.
All equipment (warm wetsuits, mask & snorkel, water, snack) is provided. Storage facilities, changing rooms and hot showers are also available at the
Centre. Our Tour runs daily from November – April and starts at 7:45am. Check in at the Centre from 7:30am.

You can also book dolphin and whale watching tours here.. just be sure to check the timings online in advance.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, taking time to explain and answer questions on the tours.
What’s important was that the team were really good with dolphin knowledge in the area, sharing about habits and tips on these amazing creatures in their natural habitat. Team also ensured we caught sight of dolphins!
Would definitely do this again some time in the future but probably during the warmer seasons.
Thank you!
And we are surprised to see an early bird! I can't rmb her name, that was mentioned but they said its an rare site for early sighting.
And after about 15mins, the dolphin swam away, and we went back our motorhome for breakfast. Till about 9am+ we start to see commotion, then we went back to the shoreline where the centre was, and yes we saw her again.
First of all, all these experience is free, so don't worry about it. Only those going for swimming with dolphin then you need to pay, which is organised by them.
Secondly, the dolphins will swim quite close to you, depending on your luck. As they swam beside us really very close like a hand reach away, while we are knee deep in seawater.
Lastly! I would like to thank all the crew from DOLPHIN DISCOVERY CENTRE, for constantly looking out for dolphin and so caring these wild dolphin, which benefit us public and also these dolphin eco life!
So hopefully you all are also as lucky as us when you are there (:

This was an amazing morning and well worth the money.

So we paid 220 AUD each for the experience of the 45 AUD dolphin watch tour. No (partly) refund as said in a former review on google.
Furthermore when we were at the beach with our wetsuits before getting on the boat, one dolphin came very close to the beach, but when we all wanted to have a look we were called back, so they could take a picture of the group instead of letting us enjoying the dolphin so close.
All in all definetely not worth the money and I do not recommend the swimming tour, because there are several reasons for not beeing able in the water with the dolphins.

The great wealth and experience of the skipper Jess and her happy and friendly attitude we considered to be an added bonus. She and the volunteer Shawn who were helpful throughout made our day so joyful. We saw a number of dolphins
skipper Jess was very happy to explain and respond to questions from many people.
We highly recommend this tour for any age. Happy to do it again next year! Thank you cruise team (and the dolphins of course) for a wonderful 90 minutes.
The shop and the reception staff were great too! Please keep up the good work.

Have to book a cruise, rather pricey, to see dolphins.
Aquarium was good. Turtles octopus (hiding), lots of amazing fish.
Excellent staff.
Cafe seriously needs to he aware of long weekends and holiday crowds eating everything insight! Nothing left by late Sunday morning tea on a long weekend!
Worth a visit, for sure!
The young bloke piloting the boat was an excellent guide and very informative about the dolphins and their habits.
Recommend this tour to anyone interested in dolphins and traveling to Bunbury or the South West of Western Australia. 🐬
You don’t see dolphins in the centre as they don’t belong in captivity. If you want to see dolphins up close, go sign up for the available tours.
Overall, an awesome place to be!
It’s small inside finish walking in around less than an hour time.

Wish Jess all the best in doing her Engineers qualification.
We went round the interactive exhibition after the trip which was very interesting.
Great place to visit, and the cafe is excellent as well.
Not to forget a lot of the staff are voluntary, big thanks to them

One inquisitive dolphin had already cruised up to the beach to check everyone out. Hopefully a good sign. Then we were off, chugging out towards The Cut where the pods tend to hang out. And boy oh boy were we in for a treat. Literally dozens of dolphins in pods of 4's, 5's and 6's were cruising around and would often come over to see what we were up to. We've seen many dolphins in the past but never been in the water with them so close that you could reach out and touch them, IF that was OK to do. It's not. Over about half a dozen swims we learnt so much from Kathy who could identify many of our hosts via their dorsal fins. She has a great sense of humour to go with her sizeable knowledge base, so it was also a lot of fun to be there. And to cap things all off, there were two calves about a metre in length, one a couple of weeks old while the other had only emerged from its Mum on the Sunday prior. Absolute joy!! Thank you to one and all involved in our morning's adventure. You have such a great thing going. Bravo.

Very good layout with lots of facts and information. Some interaction activities as you head through.
Good talks at various times during day. Team are genuine and care about fish, With plenty of knowledge to share.
For the size of venue would say little pricy but money is going to good cause.
There was a kids area looked like colouring arts and craft kinda area with creative learning for them.
Place does close early this also includes cafe and shop area.

Came down to the visitor centre 3/4 times, all around 8.30am.
On each occasion one or two dolphins swam up to the waters edge on the beach.
So lovely to see them in the wild.
Staff at the centre are excellent.
We had breakfast on two of our visits which we found brilliant value for money.
Would definitely recommend a visit.

The center is very informative and has some cute turtles they rescued. All in all worth a half-day trip.

High quality souvenirs and an excellent Cafe will make your visit even more enjoyable.

When you're here: Take your time and don't rush it.

Wonderful write-up about marine life, the Leuwinn currents and the good work done by the rescue team.
Experience pool is an excellent ???? spot to touch the sea stars ⭐ and learn more about the species and their features. The main marine tank is helpful for marvelling at the various exotic species of fish ????, eels and rays.
Don't miss out the octopus tank and the turtle ???? pool. Highly inquisitive creatures that are sure to melt your heart ❤️ too.
Even toddlers and young at heart are not left out. There is a colouring corner to colour in and scan your artwork into an AR screen.
Make time for the feeding times if possible. The staff here are ℹ️ informative and happy to share their knowledge and passion for the ocean ????.

My daughter loved the talk about the turtle while they measured and weighed him and was able to have a photo next to him and ask questions. She loved the feeding of the octopus as well! One of the staff also bought a starfish to look under the microscope out. All the staff / volunteers was friendly and knowledgeable! We learnt lots!!
Lots of interactive things to do including colouring, unfortunately the screen wasn’t working to scan the picture in that brings there fish alive!
While in the centre they let us know there was a dolphin on the beach and we were able to go outside and see the dolphin.
We also did the boat tour to spot dolphins which was magical!
Recommend bringing a jacket with you for the boat tour!

What impressed me the most on this tour was the respect shown to the dolphins. Kathy took her time to assess the behaviour of the various pods, whether they were feeding, mating or with calves, before the decision was made to enter the water. Every encounter was strictly on the dolphins terms. Having said that, we were fortunate to be in the water at least four times with the dolphins, each time giving a unique and close experience. Thank you so much to all the team, including the dedicated volunteers, for a truly memorable experience. A very caring and well run tour.

My favourite part of visiting here? They have local retirees who volunteer to sit in the lifeguard tower and when they see the dolphin fin, they'll ring the bell next to them and everyone's encouraged to run down to the beach, stand still in the water and get to experience the true magic of having a wild dolphin swim right by their feet.
I love that they have a rehabilitation program for injured sea turtles. I love how passionate they are for the marine life around them, and you can tell just how much they love conservation and protecting the species living in our oceans.
They have a mini aquarium-type space where you can see octopus, seahorse, turtles, etc. They have a very informative little nook where they have educational videos that are engaging for kids, teaching them about the rich and vast marine life WA is blessed with.
You can book a tour to go out of a boat and see wild dolphins swim in the open water. I took my Grandmother and it's an experience I'm so glad we had together. It was more meaningful than I could've ever known.
This place is a Gem. You owe it to yourself and your family to experience this wonderful place!

Also, the lack of regard to traffic rules while among other boats.

The centre is super easy to locate with ample parking, absolutely worth the visit.

Food arrived & was delicious. I had the pancake stack & was not disappointed. Portion sizes were big.
If the service was better I would have given this a five star review but staff were rude when asking them questions & we watched someone else ask a question to see the member of staff just shrug their shoulders. A little bit of leadership was missing here, everybody seemed busy but not really focusing on customer satisfaction.
There was no still water available to purchase & take down to the beach so the business is really missing out on extra revenue.
It would be great if ice creams & drinks were available to purchase at the entrance to the centre instead of at the back of the restaurant hidden away.
