A fantastic way to experience my home as a tourist.
Many thanks to Paul as driver/host and to my fellow travelers.
Highly recommended and looking forward to the next venture!
i would highly recommend it as a day out with visitors that might be staying with you and looking for something to do.
I am looking to do another tour in the future
cheers for an awesome day Paul
P.S we will be back
Bickley Valley is a hidden gem
We visited 4 fantastic vineyards, and the wines were so good that I couldn't resist buying a bottle (wasn't planning to, but no regrets!). Despite the hot weather, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The modern, air-conditioned van was a comfortable retreat between stops, with plenty of space to store our wine purchases.
Really appreciated the small group size - we never felt rushed and could take our time at each stop. The whole experience was well-organized and relaxed. Thanks to Shannon's excellent guidance and the perfect itinerary, this tour is definitely worth recommending to anyone looking to explore Swan Valley's wine scene!
I particularly like chardonnay which wasn't on tasting at all of them, but Shannon made sure I got to taste them anyway. She was also kind enough to send us a very detailed text that night to recommend restaurants, coffee shops and bars that we had asked about during the day. Nothing was too much trouble. We never felt rushed. She said several times that as long as we got to the last vineyard before they closed everything was alright.
Can't recommend it highly enough.
Pickup up was easy from the Casino. Mini van was comfortable & airconditioned.
Bottle of water supplied.
All the owners were knowledgeable on their products & it was interesting to hear how things get produced/made.
Lunch was very tasty, & menu had a variety of meals to choose from.
It is a full day out but, went quite fast.
Had a great time.
If I had to say one thing that I would have maybe liked-just a small snack at the final
place would have been nice with the cider tasting.
We will definitely be going back to a couple of the places we stopped at.
Would highly recommend for a relaxing day out exploring Bickley Winery region.
Would highlight recommend and would give more than a 5 ⭐ if it was possible! Thanks for such a wonderful experience. 😊 🥂
Shannon from Up Close and Local did a fabulous job of putting together an itinerary that suited us. She collected us from our cruise terminal in Fremantle. She showed us the interesting and historic parts of Fremantle before heading out to the car museum we had requested to visit.
The vehicle we travelled in was spacious up to date and air conditioned.
We visited the splendid Australian war memorial in Perth we then went for really good lunch at one of the wineries.
We can not speak highly enough of our day with Shannon and would highly recommend the tour with her knowledge and friendliness.
The cider and wine tastings were a highlight, and the farm gate/shop and orchard tour added a unique, local touch. Everything was well-planned and tailored to ensure a relaxing and enjoyable day.
The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience seamless. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the charm and beauty of Bickley Valley.
Thank you for an unforgettable day—I can’t wait to book another tour in the future!
We visited four different wineries to sample their unique wines. The standout for me was the Honey Wine, which had an incredibly distinctive taste and isn’t available in supermarkets. It left a lasting impression.
For future visitors, I’d recommend emailing Up Close and Local Tours ahead of time to check if it's the right season to witness production or harvesting. Since we visited in Spring, most of the production had already finished, and the vines were awaiting the next reproduction cycle. As a result, we primarily enjoyed wine tastings during our tour.
Thanks for retrieving and posting back the lost glasses Paul.
From our prompt morning pick up from our CBD hotel in an immaculate and spacious people mover van to our afternoon drop off, the day was flawless.
Paul was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide willing to share his knowledge but also asked questions of us to gain a further understanding of what it was we were hoping to achieve out of the day.
Shannon also was fantastic. From communicating with us from the get go, checking via text and email that we were receiving her correspondence. She was thorough, left nothing to chance and did her best to ensure they put together a tour we would enjoy.
Lunch at Upper Ridge was exceptional! Fantastic food at a very reasonable price. We could only manage 2 of the 3 course special on offer the day we toured (Thursday).
We got exactly what we were hoping to in that we visited a nice cross section of wineries in terms of scale, product offerings and style. Overall, a great day out with a friendly and discreet host.
Paul was a truly wonderful guide, very personable, knowledgeable, and intuitive.
He changed his food orders and plans around to suit our small group and was always conscious of everyone's comfort.
The tour itself was fantastic! What a great way to be tourists in our own city. A great foodie experience.
Contact prior to our tour was excellent - thanks Shannon.
A truly memorable day - highly recommend this terrific local company.
We rate our Low and Slow BBQ Tour 5/5 stars!
Shannon did everything she could to be able to make our day the most special, taking in my preferences and things I didn't want to miss throughout the day. Paul who drove us down and back to Margaret River was the loveliest guy, telling us fun facts all the way down.
We ended up only doing two of the vineyards as we ended up being pretty tired & not wanting to drink much else after the lunch - Paul straight away had a plan B and options of what we could do in the afternoon before we drove back, stopping off at some beautiful view points and seeing some wild kangas!
I cannot thank the both of these guys enough for all the effort that went towards a very very memorable day. I would definitely recommend! Affordable, helpful and made very easy to have a relaxing day. Thank you Shannon for your recommendations and help with the itinerary & thank you Paul for doing that long drive to Margaret River & back - We loved it all!
to those looking for a pleasant day out.
There is still a lot more to explore just in that street so I am hoping Up Close and Local Tours do a part 2 of this tour - I would be there for sure.
