Excellent Lunch with Wine Pairing The wines are excellent esp the Semllion and Shiraz. I like the steaks which good match with the wine. The staffs are friendly and nice.

THE Hunter Valley Experience If you only have time for one cellar door experience in the Hunter Valley, allow me to recommend Brokenwood. Aside from the beautiful facility, you can be confident that you made the right choice, as Halladay recently awarded them as the best vineyard in all of Australia. The wines certainly live up to the reputation.
Personally, my experience was unforgettable, as i was warmly greeted by Ashley. She put me in the care of Amy, who could not have been a better representative of Brokenwood, and the Hunter Valley in general. She was so knowledgeable and giving with information.

The setting is stunning—modern, spacious, and perfect for a relaxing day in Hunter Valley. The wines themselves were exceptional, especially the Shiraz and Semillon—definitely some of the best we’ve had.

Very impressive cellar door Very impressive Cellar Door and Restaurant! I remember the old tasting room with fond memories but times move on and it's such a great layout to do a wine tasting! My only gripe is that the cost of wines seems to have gone up over the past year or so.

Good for Beginners Beautiful facility, with a nice-looking restaurant (though we did not partake).

From a wine tasting standpoint, well-suited to beginners and those who do not know much about wine.

For those more experienced - disappointing. Regurgitated script, little room for exploring in more detail when booking, and altogether felt more commercial than anything. had been very much looking forward to visiting as have been a fan of the wines, but the experience was underwhelming. Learnt almost nothing, and left with a lesser impression of the wines than before I came.

So all in all as a pleasant diversion for the novice - recommended. For any serious connoisseur, unfortunately I’d suggest a pass.

Expert wine tasting experience for non-experts!! We visited Brokenwood on my birthday for their $25pp wine tasting experience and really enjoyed ourselves! James took time to explain each wine in detail and as it was not a busy day the experience lasted about 75mins and we tasted 13 wines in all. We would recommend.

It’s been nearly a year since my visit last April, but the memory of Brokenwood remains vivid. During a spontaneous stop, I asked an AI for a gift recommendation, which suggested a "Shiraz." I walked up to the counter and confidently ordered a bottle, not realizing I was asking for the crown jewel of the estate.
The staff looked at me with a hint of surprise, asking if I was sure. I nodded, only to realize after the transaction that I had purchased the legendary 2022 Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz.
Due to a credit card issue, I couldn’t process a refund. However, the cellar door manager was incredibly gracious and warm. He turned my initial "sticker shock" into a moment of genuine connection, explaining that this flagship wine is a treasure meant to be shared with someone special during a significant life milestone.
His kindness and professional integrity left a lasting impression on me. I didn't just leave with a world-class bottle of wine; I left with a story I’ll tell for years. Thank you, Brokenwood, for your hospitality and for making this "beautiful mistake" the highlight of my Hunter Valley trip!

These are some of the best wines in the area, with a huge selection from not only Hunter Valley, but also other regions in Australia, as they source fruit from much of southeastern Australia. It’s a great tasting experience, since they have many varieties. Their Semillon one of the best, very fruity and acidic. Definitely one to justify a visit by itself!

Wine tasting was amazing, the new cellar door is very cleverly designed with the 4 circular bars. We were close enough to chat with other guests without feeling cramped.

Tasting list was solid, something for everyone. Paddy was brilliant, funny and interesting to talk to.

Nice spot for lunch, easy to access and quick service. The food was good for us, we had 3 small plates and 2 wines. Nice atmosphere outside, a fine sprinkler was activated which was pleasant as it was a warm day. Good views as well. Didn't have time for the wine tasting but looked organised & popular, will be back to try the restaurant which wasn't opened.

We found Brokenwood Wines on Google mainly because it showed they had Tesla charging, which made it a perfect stop for our trip, but it turned out to be so much more than just a charging stop.

We arrived as a large group of 15, and the team was incredibly accommodating. They kindly gave us a private dining room, which was such a lovely surprise and made the whole experience feel special and relaxed, especially with kids in the group.

We ordered Wagyu steaks, plenty of wines (of course!), lots of kids meals, and a generous spread of sides and salads. Everything was beautifully cooked, well presented, and absolutely delicious. The quality of the food and the consistency across such a big order really impressed us.

From the service to the food to the overall atmosphere, it was a fantastic dining experience for all ages. We all had an amazing time and would happily return, highly recommended for groups, families, and anyone visiting the Hunter Valley🍷🥩✨

We had a good experience, but I would say if short on time or like a more local vibe skip this one. I’ve heard their restaurant is amazing, but we didn’t try. More busy but also more commercial. Everyone was so nice - no complaints my husband and I enjoy more of a homey vibe. I will say if need a quick one to visit they are a lot faster with their tastings than the others

This was the last of the wineries on our stop and we were suitably impressed - the grandeur and the feel of the cellar door experience was very different to any we had done that day.
Our server, Lauren, was amazing! We had expressed that we weren’t enjoying the Chardonnays that we had tried that day, so asked to swap it out with something else and before we knew it, we had a completely different and customised wine tasting! So accomodating, warm, funny and attuned to what we were after.
We walked away with something completely different for all of us - the Sticky Wicket desert wine and wanted to bring Lauren home with us.

Simply awesome! The Match experience was absolutely wonderful — the wine and food pairings were exceptional, to the point where we enjoyed every single wine we tasted. Liam, who guided us through the session, was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We were truly impressed!

I have to add to my review after heading to lunch right after the Match experience. The service here is on another level! We opted for the set lunch and mentioned only that we don’t eat beef, but when the chef found out that I also don’t take lamb, he was incredibly accommodating and kindly swapped my dish for fish instead. THANK YOU CHEF TRAVIS!!!

Dined for lunch on a weekday last week.

I am peeved that our steak was served 5-10mins after our small plates/starters which included cold raw fish. We were not done with our starters when the meat were served. Steak would obviously turn cold by the time we started eating and the table was cluttered too.

We feedback to the lady staff who told us we did not indicate our preference when she asked. I do not recall any such question asked to the same effect.

Restaurant was far from full capacity since it’s a rainy weekday lunch. Kitchen was open kitchen so I’m not sure why the chef also thought it’s ok to fire up my steak in a hurry.

Not sure if this is a place I want to dine in when I’m just trying to enjoy myself in the vibes of Hunter Valley.

Stunning Cellar Door Stunning cellar door that's a must visit if you come to the Hunter! We tend to go to smaller, boutique wineries but it's always good to check out one of the big brands on the region. The tasting room is spectacular, and we the on-site restaurant was a real bonus as we managed to sneak in without a booking. Worth checking out if you are visiting.

Top drop A last minute booking - we were looked after royally and treated to an amazing tasting with delicious cheese platter too. Consistently high service and fabulous wines.

Good to try the wine tasting, but very expensive wines We did the $20 for 3 wines tasting. My partner and I chose different wines, so we had 6 wines to taste. Some were good and some not. The wine bottles are more on the expensive side, and we did not purchase any.

We had lunch at the brokenwood restaurant. Very nice welcoming from the staff that offered us different options to eat. Very attentive staff including the chef in the kitchen. The waitress was very kind and professional. She let us enjoying our food with no rush. The portion were generous and very tasty from the appetisers to the dessert. You could tell the high quality products use. Even the olive oil…

We became members of Brokenwood after a fantastic wine tasting in January with Liam, who was amazing and introduced us to some beautiful wines. This past weekend, we returned to the Hunter and, even without a booking, were warmly accommodated. To our delight, Liam was there again and remembered us—it felt like catching up with an old friend! He was incredibly attentive, asking about our wine preferences and even securing us a lunch reservation at The Wood, the restaurant inside Brokenwood.

After an already incredible tasting, our lunch was the perfect next step in our experience. We sat at a beautiful table overlooking the oak barrels and enjoyed the “Feed Me” menu with paired wines. Every dish was a standout, with the gnocchi being an absolute highlight—I highly recommend it! The steak and wine pairings were also perfection. We were so grateful when Chef Sean came out to chat with us, giving us a chance to compliment him and learn more about the food.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and we are so thankful to be members of such a stunning estate!

We have been here twice and both times have been wonderful. The food is amazing. Highly recommend the steak tartare. We did a wine tasting session after our meal. The tasting was led by James. James was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was a really pleasant experience.

Great place to visit, Friendly team. Great venue, and very friendly team. James took us through a range of wines catered to our preferences. Options to join wine club, but no pushy sales push.

Really enjoys the atmosphere, fairly friendly staff. Would have been a 5 five if the bar actually served some hot food as the restaurant is more on the fine dining style so its more difficult for little family members to get some proper food.

I was so excited to go to this winery, as the tour we were on said their wine was great. Whilst, the wine was great, service was not. I paid the $25 for a tasting, expecting good service. Earlier, my friend was refused by a men at your counter to drink, which she respected quickly. Responding with it’s fine, (even though she went to one winery before). First, my tasting went for 10 minutes and before I could even say what I wanted to buy, I was quickly told the total of my tasting. To be honest, I wasn’t going to buy because of how quickly and rushed the service was, but in comparison to the other previous winery, I was shocked. We then proceeded to the main counter, where we asked for the two bottles of wine we brought from a previous winery, in which your worker said “no”. I was dumbfounded and shocked because we brought this and we just wanted to go home at this stage. He also then said have you paid, and i said yes, went silent for 2 minutes. It felt terrible. After explaining it, he gave it, but I left, feeling like I was a bother to your business over being a customer. I would never recommend or come back myself to this business, which sucks because everything else was great :(

Good wine This was a solid winery and a good tasting. It’s a bit corporate and less friendly than others, but they’re very professional. The wine is good too. Not amazing, but solid all around.

Perfect wine tasting with friends Baiden has given us the perfect wine testing experience. His knowledge about wine is incredible huge and we learnt a lot about wine today. Great Introduction to Hunter Valley Wines This was my stop in Hunter Valley as recommended by the information center and I was not disappointed. The tasting expert Martelle was friendly, funny, and fabulous! I was very new to Semillon wine and she was a vast resource of knowledge about the wine, Hunter Valley, and Australia in general. She was even kind enough to give me food recommendations in the area as well as where I could go for the best views and to see kangaroos. The wine was also very good. This is a great place to start your time in Hunter Valley or to visit if you haven't been here before (or even if you have, but then why would you need a review?).

A delightful experience in the heart of the Hunter I booked the brokenwood experience for my husbands 40th and we were lucky enough to be the only ones on the day. We had Amy as our guide and she was fantastic. Fun, very knowledgeable and so informative. Could not fault her! The food was lovely paired with the wine, the tart and mushroom were the standouts for us! Having a taste from a premium barrelled wine was also a highlight.
The overall experience was great and we had such a good time. My only constructive feedback would be for the price, maybe include a little more in the tour and involve the guests some more, possibly with a hands on part. And or finish with a cheeseboard and wine of your choice on the deck, I just feel like the value is slightly off the mark here.
But we thoughrougly enjoyed our time at brokenwood with Amy!

Amazing tasting by Martelle who looked after our group with a next level experience. After our tasting we then had an incredible dinner at the wood. Traditional winery with wide selection available for tasting. Visited midweek so getting a tasting and table for food wasn’t too much of a problem but could imagine it being very busy on weekends (booking probably recommended). The lady who took us through our tasting was very knowledgeable and friendly, wasn’t too formal either which put our minds at ease. Really nice experience overall.
