Suitable for all ages, interesting for everyone
I would come again in future and see how all these have evolved.
David, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. He didn't rush the group and gave us enough time to take photos.
I would highly recommend this tour of anyone is visiting Perth
My only criticism of the venue is that it is somewhat lacking in facilities. There are two toilets at the gate, rather than in the building (with disabled facilities available elsewhere) and there is no café. This part of Perth seemingly has a dearth of cafés open on a Sunday, so the chance to buy a drink and sit somewhere would be a welcome addition.
All in all, the Perth Mint tour is a unique and informative way to pass an hour or two - just make sure you bring your own refreshments as needed.
We were especially pleased with the opportunity to strike our own coin. You can also have a custom coin made with your own design, or purchase gold and silver bars, coins, and jewelry. A real wow moment is the largest coin in the world, which they have on display.
I recommend booking the tour in advance, as it is very likely to be fully booked on the day you plan to visit.
The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely keep ordering my gold here! ✨
among the other highlights was the giant 1 tonne $,1000,000 gold coin, with a current value of $214,000 000, and the chance to lift a 2.4 kilo gold bar
if you're in Perth a tour of the mint truly is a must
I withdrew cash especially to purchase some gold but I was refused.
Extremely disappointing!
Very poor!
Love this place the Perth mint .
Entry ticket AUD25 per person .
Thank you Mr David explaining and show us the making real gold .
And service us 1/2 silver coin .
This was a wonderful experience but I definitely recommend booking online. It’s very popular, therefore, spots can fill up fast. The tour itself was fascinating. Full of information about the history of Gold, the demonstration on how gold is made enhanced the tour greatly. I loved watching the gold bar being poured. The shop was interesting, you could go crazy if you had the money . The museum was full of great artifacts. I found it so fascinating. I loved that you get the $2 mint your own medallion with the tour ticket.
The Tour costs are -
Adult $25.00
Child (5-15 years) $15.00
Concession $22.00
The Perth Mint is Australia’s official bullion mint and owned wholly by the Government of Western Australia. It was established on 20th June 1899. Along with the Royal Australian Mint, the Perth Mint is the oldest of Australia’s two mints that is producing coins that are legal tender. The Perth Mint initially served two purposes, one to produce coins for circulation in Western Australia. Secondly, the mint bought the vast majority of the gold mined in Western Australia, which at the time was done mainly by “diggers” who had migrated to WA from other states and also from other countries.
Even though Western Australia took part in the Federation of the Australian Colonies in 1901, Perth Mint remained under the control of the UK government until 1st July 1970 when ownership was transferred to the government of Western Australia.
I would absolutely recommend visiting this fascinating piece of history. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍
Fantastic Tour Guide & presenter, Madelyn I believe her name is.
Very informative & she easily kept the attention of all 60 of the 10yr old children on their school excursion!
Loads of raw material gold on display, presented in their natural form as they had been found.
The range of different colours was quite amazing. You'd think Gold would always be the same default yellow/orange colour that we are used to seeing.
There was a weighing machine to stand on, measuring how much you would be worth in today's price. I came in at over $10,888,000 Dollars,...!
Great fun for all ages & I even sealed away after purchasing a gram of Gold for $168 & an Ounce of Silver only cost me $57!
Amazing to see one of the guiness record holder for the biggest pure gold coin in the world 🇦🇺 Australia.
Make sure you check the time schedule of the tour on their website so you don't have to wait longer.
I must say I was lucky to hold a pure gold bar which is part of the tour be great if I can take them home, for sure that was everyone's thinking as well while was there 😁
Love this tour must see when in Perth
