Take a walk on the wild side of the Great Ocean Road.
Enjoy a 75-minute guided walk through the magical Otways bushland, where you’ll discover lush fern gullies, eucalypt woodlands and spectacular ocean vistas. Your conservationist guide will share with you the secrets of the bush and the plants and animals who call the Otways home.
The tour winds along a gentle, 1.4km path suitable for all ages and abilities.
Wildlife Wonders directly supports the environment, with 100% of profits invested in vital research and conservation projects to save threatened species. A café and gift shop top off the experience.
Please note: while our guides have plenty of knowledge to share with you on any tour, our wildlife tend to be most active in the cooler parts of the day, so booking a morning Walk with Wildlife tour, a Dusk Discovery tour, or visiting on a cooler day will increase your chances of animal sightings.
Private tours are also available, and we welcome Companion Card holders – call (03) 7046 1664 for more information.

Food was excellent
The team at reception & the emu cafe were also friendly and welcoming. Plus the food & beverages were good.
Overall we would recommend a visit
Note that this is not a zoo - animals are not confined, so there are no guarantees as to what animals will be visible during your visit. That being said, we were able to see kangaroos, potoroos, koalas, and emus. The tour lasts 75 minutes, and each person on the tour is provided with a set of binoculars and an earpiece which makes it easier to hear the guide.
Cherish, our guide, was very informative and told us lots of interesting information about the various animals we saw.
We saw all that we'd hoped for and more!
Nice meal before and good company
Easy tracks to walk the different biodiversity’s on the 90 minute tour.
We were really lucky to see koalas, emus, wallabies, pademelons, long necked tortoises, gang gang cockatoos & lots of other bush birds.
Great cafe for coffee & lunch.
Fantastic selection of books in the shop.
Highly recommend if you’re on the Great Ocean Road passing through Apollo Bay.
The tour is very respectful of the animals’ space and they all roam freely - no cages or enclosures. The animals seem very comfortable there, with koalas, pademelons, wallabies, emus, and kangaroos feeling unbothered by our presence.
Truly a magical place and would recommend to anyone who wants to see Australian wildlife without supporting cruel zoos.
Coffee shop and clean loos are plus points too.
Well done Wildlife Wonders! Highly recommended.
From booming the tickets with ease online, to showing up. My partner and I booked a Dusk Tour. We were greeted by a smiley Erin who welcomed us and wasted no time making us feel comfortable offering drinks and a chat. Part of the package is a meal and I thought this was fabulous as the time you booked included the dinner, we were welcomed to sit down at a long table with other participants in the group, meet new people - whom I have to say were exceptionally nice and being the only Aussies in our tour made the conversations with the Americans, Canadians and British even better. We then went into a room to get our binoculars, ear piece and a brief on what’s next. The tour itself was incredible, Erin seriously took the time to ensure everyone had gotten a look at the animals we were searching for, so informative and her care and passion for the wildlife wonders was genuine. She was open for questions and conversation whilst maintaining an informative tour.
Erin offered to take photos of the group at a viewpoint too.
Would seriously recommend!
The coffee at the café was excellent and the atmosphere so relaxing.
The guided tour was amazing, we saw lots of beautiful birds and animals with stunning views of the hills.
The team was super friendly and helpful.
This was my second visit and I really enjoyed seeing the changes.
Highly recommend!
We did the morning tour (about 75 minutes) They have a well-organized setup, with audio headsets and excellent binoculars provided. The grounds are spotless and well maintained. Some reviews mention the price, but knowing that the fees directly support conservation made it feel more than worthwhile.
Be sure not to miss the café—the food and coffee were delicious!
Overall, it’s inspiring to see such a passionate team carrying out important conservation work. Highly recommended.
Wildlife Wonders also has a lovely little Cafe attached, and an extensive gift shop (including books and literature about the flora and fauna native to the region), and all proceeds go towards helping conserve out beautiful wildlife.
If you are staying in or near Apollo Bay, Wildlife Wonders is an absolute must-visit! Cannot recommend highly enough!
As this my first time following tour, its pretty excited especilly kids got to experience to see wild animals.
Our tour guide was english lady origanlly from uk ( sophie) was very experience and explain every single thing about wild animals. She is very patient each time answering question.
We manage to see pademelon, koala, kangaroo, baby emu and many more !
The tour requiry walking about 1.5hrs and its pram friendly not to worries for parrents who bring baby on pram.
For those driving, plenty parking lot available and its free
This tour was probably the first time in my life that I had ever seen live pademelons, so that was already quite a highlight for me. Additionally, my tour group got to see quite a number of potoroos, koalas, wallabies and kangaroos.
But the main highlight for me was the emu and his chicks who we kept stumbling upon even outside the tour. Even though the chicks were already a third of their father's size, they were still so cute! In fact, it was this emu family that essentially hypnotized me into booking the tour.
Our guide, Erin, and her clear love for the animals in the sanctuary certainly helped with my experience. Additionally, the gift shop and cafe were very well-maintained and clean, and the staff at the sanctuary were overall very receptive and friendly. I'm not sure if it's mentioned in the website, but a light meal is provided before the dusk tour (and it was LOVELY).
Overall, I would recommend any nature lovers to drop by at this place, especially for the tours at dusk when the animals are most active. Even if you don't end up going for the tours, as long as you buy something from the gift shop or cafe, you are supporting wildlife conservation in the Cape Otway region. If you're lucky, you may even stumble upon the emu family without needing to book a tour!
Nice place to stop over for food or a drink.
There’s also a kids corner to occupy the kids.
We saw emus up close, koalas high up in the trees, wallabies, and kangaroos from a distance. A kookaburra also briefly appeared. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing a lot of interesting information. However, the price feels quite high for what is offered.
Highly recommend the nature walk and nature spotting with Sophie as a fantastic nature guide.
We will definitely come spotting again.
We hope Derek is keeping the peace 😉
We were also lucky to see an emu with six chicks.
If you have kids, they also do a kids’ animal talk which was also great.
We were well equipped with binoculars and and as the evening wore on we saw increasing numbers of native Australian animals in their protected natural habitat. We saw bandicoot, poteroos, swamp wallabies, kangaroo, emu and of course koalas. Our guide was very helpful and enthusiastic, spotting the animals and telling us all about them.
All in all it was a very enjoyable evening which I would recommend to anyone interested in learning about and seeing these elusive animals where they are protected from non native species.
