We booked the wine tasting and picnic experience at Yalumba and had a wonderful time. The tasting included four of their red wines, which were all very tasty. After our tasting we got to pick a bottle of one of the red wines to have with our picnic. The picnic spread was delicious, 2 delicious cheeses, ham, prosciutto, dried fruits and apples, quince paste, crackers and breads. All the food was delicious and it was lovely getting to explore the grounds and have a picnic. It's a really great experience with the lunch, we would definitely recommend it!

The cooperage experience was wonderful. It was so fascinating learning about the process and skill that goes into making the barrels and this was a unique aspect of this winery - highly recommended. The tasting that followed was well executed - the hospitality and decor of this beautiful heritage winery made a very memorable experience. Very professional staff that were generous with their knowledge and appreciation of the wines on offer.

Wine tasting at Yalumba My partner and I visited Yalumba late on a Monday afternoon. Although it was close to closing time and we were the only people there, the person who was running the tasting was extremely happy to accommodate this. After expertly running through the background to the wines we were tasting and giving us a brief history of the different grapes, we were left to taste the wines (Yummy BTW!). The lady then came back with a small platter of cheese and small goods (left over from the day)!!! We can’t recommend the service highly enough, the setting was amazing and the wines wonderful.

A class act Booked as a couple to do the unlocked tour and tastings. Had a fabulous day, a wonderful tour and the tastings with accompanying platter was absolutely perfect. So we decided to buy one of the “rare and fine” wines as a souvenir to take home of a memorable day.

A day later, still reminiscing, I looked again at the website to see if there was any other tours we could do. I happened to see that if you purchased the “rare and fine” tasting only at $30, that it would be redeemed on a purchase. Now, we had spent way more than $30, yet were asked to pay full price on the wine I purchased.
This marred my experience of a perfect day!

I sent an email regarding this and my disappointment at spending several hundred dollars yet not getting any redemption on purchase. I didn’t really expect a response. So,
I was surprised to get a reply to the email from Bec, who was apologetic and offered me a choice of a bottle or a refund of $30.
I was delighted when she actually followed through and I was sent another lovely Yalumba red!
This kind of service is so rare these days. Absolute top class. Highly recommended and we will definitely visit again on our next visit to the Barossa. Thank you!

The most wonderful setting for a wine tasting. Staff were excellent and very knowledgeable and attentive. Wines were perfect, especially the white Viognier and the Cab Sav/Shiraz on the rare and fine tasting. Would love to come back.

Just a Tasting Although we enjoyed the wines and the surroundings, in comparison to other tastings in the Barossa, this tasting was very impersonal. We were served up a flight of 4 wines with tasting notes and then left alone. Nobody came to see how we were enjoying our experience or to provide us with any further information.

Yalumba is easily in our top 5 wineries in Australia. We did a 3-hour tour with a tasting and it was so worth it. Christie (I hope I got that right!) was incredibly knowledgeable, but also super approachable and fun — she definitely took the experience to the next level.

We already liked Yalumba wines, but we left liking them even more. They also prepared a gluten-free and coeliac-safe charcuterie board for us, which was absolutely delicious.

If you love your wines, great food, and beautiful places full of history, this is a great one to visit!

Beautiful 2 hours Our kids gave us the Picnic/ Tasting experience as anniversary pressie through Redballoon. We booked in and the night before 2 friends said they'll come and morning of event another couple wanted IN too. So 6 very happy guests(and 3 dogs) enjoyed a fabulous 2 hours on the verandah under the vines. 4 beautiful reds and excellent platters fulfilled our aspirations. AND each couple got a bottle of red a 2 nice wine glasses.OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE. Thanks Yalumba

Well worth the money and time What a great cellar door - not called that though. The way the tastings were presented was excellent and the ability to purchase a tasting plate was great. Have not been to a vineyard with this experience before.

Well rounded, relaxing and delicious Beautiful surroundings, well presented and mouthwatering wines. The ploughman platter was the perfect accompaniment. Well worth the visit.

Excellent tour of a Barossa icon After several tastings at some smaller Barossa wineries, booked this tour as this admittedly large commercial winery is one of the oldest in the region and yet remains in family hands. Exceeding expectations - host Steph was very friendly and knowledgeable, and made the experience truly memorable. The tour of the cooperage was a highlight of this experience; apparently this is one of the few wineries in Australia to produce their own barrels, and cooper Kim gave us a great breakdown of the craft that goes into this. The beautiful grounds and historic buildings added to the experience. A good history of founder Samuel Smith and his descendants follows, humbling to realize the hardships and setbacks that the family went through to make this business the Barossa icon that it is now. Very impressed to learn that the winery remains in family hands, rather than having being sold out to corporations like some of their neighbours.
A tasting flight of some of the premium wines in the portfolio ends the tour, accompanied by a very good charcuterie/ cheese platter.
All in all a great experience, highly recommend as a commercial but still family owned and historic winery tour experience. The cooperage tour makes it unique

Yalumba Unlocked Tour is outstanding. We were hosted by Kirstie for the Yalumba Unlocked tour. It was worth every cent, and more. The history of this family winery is incredible and the infrastructure that has been developed over 175 years is mind blowing. Then the follow up wine tasting, also hosted by Kirstie was an outstanding experience. We have always loved Yalumba wines and the latest releases are top shelf.

On top of the very nice wine selections in categories appealing to many tastes, the cellar door location was housed near the centre of the lovely estate. The history of the estate was fantastic to learn, and great to know it’s still family owned! If that wasn’t already good enough, the actual estate on which the winners was housed was breathtaking, with many historic picture locations, nooks, and opportunities to look at barrel making and cellars.

Exceptional cheese and charcuterie platter offered alongside one of the better wine tastings we enjoyed while visiting the region. Lovely property - wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!

It was such a great visit to this stunning winery. We visited and did the Cooperage Tour with a tasting afterwards. Kirsty was a fabulous guide with so much great information on the history of Yalumba. The guys in the cooperage, were amazing.....what skills. It gives you a whole new understanding of this trade. The wines were stunning and the cellar door has a great atmosphere, thanks to great staff. We would highly recommend.

Yalumba! Perfect start in Barossa Valley Bec greeted our group with an enthusiastic smile and energy. So welcoming! Provided a thorough history of the winery and then off to the tasting.
Loved that there was a wide selection and as couples we chose to try different wines. Thus really got to sample 10 rather than just 6 (since we shared). Shiraz was delish, and was surprised how much we liked the whites!

Wonderful experience!
My wife and I booked in for a $120 tour each and were extremely happy with the terrific, knowledgeable guide who took us around the estate explaining the history of Yalumba. The Cooperage (wine barrel making) was exceptional with a personal explanation of the stages involved in barrel making by a highly skilled and informative cooper.
We also had a notable visit to the Signature wines area and the amazing old wine storage tanks which have been repurposed.
Concluding the tour was a gourmet food platter accompanied by many samples of Yalumba's wines. As much driving was still to be done in the day, we declined the wine sampling but were provided with our choice of soft drinks to enjoy.
Wonderful value for money and a most memorable experience.

We had such a wonderful experience at Yalumba. The heritage and atmosphere of the estate were beautiful, and the wine tasting itself was exceptional. The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable, guiding us through each wine and sharing the history behind it in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. Every wine we tried was high quality, with standouts that impressed our whole group — so much so that we ended up buying bottles to take home! Between the world-class wines, stunning location, and warm hospitality, Yalumba is truly a must-do when visiting the Barossa Valley. 🥂😃😁

What an amazing tour! We did a tour last wknd. It was a group of 10 of us. It was absolutely fabulous. Jess was really patient with our group and her passion and pride of Yalumba, its history and significance to Australian winemaking really came through. It was educational and insightful. The buildings are beautiful, the stories are interesting and the way the family has respected the history and its importance within the Barossa is great to see. Oh, and the wine is great too! Highly recommended.

Wine tasting in Eden Valley Excellent wine tasting in a superb location. Staff were very friendly. Well worth a visit for wine lovers and those who just like beautiful locations.
In addition to wine tasting you may wish to pay a visit to the cooperage warehouse on location.

Great winery. We went in the winter so it was not at all crowded. But, the Grenache and Shiraz options were excellent and the staff told us much about the history of the vineyard and their method.

Helen has hosted an incredible The Signature Tour for us at Yalumba Winery on May 11. We toured the stunning Signature Vineyard, Yalumba Cooperage, Family Tasting Room, Estate Grounds, Signature Cellar, converted fermentation Tanks 11 & 12 (now a function area), and the Hill-Smith family’s private wine collection museum. The Cooperage was eye-opening, showing how wine barrels are crafted from scratch. The private wine collection museum blew our minds with its huge, impressive range of wines. Tasting Yalumba’s iconic wines, including The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, was a highlight. We all loved every moment. Highly recommend this tour for a memorable winery experience.

Avoid the wine tasting, near revolting wines.The site is gorgeous and service was friendly. But get your tasting at the many other wineries in Barossa.

If big wineries is what you're after, highly recommend Seppeltsfield and Chateau Tanunga.

Highly recommend the Rare and Fine Wine Flight tasting — refined wines and rich history. The staff were knowledgeable, approachable, and overall, our experience was incredible. The platter was spot on, and the kids were welcomed, which made it a great experience.

An absolute pleasure! What a wonderful way to do a wine tasting! Under the vine covered veranda, with a cool breeze and accommodating staff ensuring that everything was perfect. The wine was sensational and the platter was stunning.

The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The service is good but didn’t feel a as personal as some of the other wineries. We did three different flights but the wine was not to our liking. I think the reds were marginally better.

One of the most beautiful wineries I have been to. The gardens and buildings are so lovely and the wine is good. We participated in the $10 wine tasting each, only to be told later that it was $15, but redeemable with two bottles of wine. We felt pressured to purchase the two bottles of wine by one staff member.

We visited for a wine tasting, and it was a lovely place. The tasting area was well-designed and enjoyable. We tried some great wines and learned amazing facts about their oldest wines.

Yalumba is known as Australia’s most historic family owned winery, that was established in the mid 1800’s. They have an extensive line up of wines from whites, reds through to some very popular fortified’s.

The grounds are beautifully set and are a perfect place to take some time out to relax. You can choose from a variety of flight tastings depending on your tastes.

I would recommend this as a destination if you visiting the Barossa Valley.

A Fascinating & Magnificent in guided tour. Then we drove to Yalumba Wine Estate 40 Eden Valley Rd, Angaston SA where we toured the grounds of the 175 year old 5th Generation estate
It was the day before they were having a huge Anniversary Celebration so we went on an Unguided Tour throughout the Estate which we found fascinating & magnificent.

Excellent customer service. Tried 2 x wine flights. Fee is wavied if a bottle is purchased. Oldest winery in Australia, celebrating 175 years in 2024. There are many options for accomodation and ground tours. Beautiful old buildings. Make their own wine barrels, only winery in Southern Hemisphere to do this.

Great visit! Beautiful place, great wine and lovely staff ready to assist. It was a nice day so we were able to take a leisurely walk around the grounds. Loved the wine tasting and charcuterie board - it was certainly more than enough for two people for lunch. Great day!

We booked the cooperage experience which is amazing, you get to know the process of how to make oak barrels. Kym the cooper is very knowledgable, love how he describes the tools and everything! Daniel is very friendly and knowledgable about the wines, personal fav is the Viognier!

Final stop of the day and in my opinion, the best stop of the day. This is still a family owned business and I understand that it is the largest family owned vineyard in Australia. The grounds are not as vast as Seppeltsfield Winery but does not lose out in terms of the ambience. It gave me the impression of stepping into a home of a landowner with a very nice casual patio and intimate cosy tasting room indoor. Started off with the intent to do two flights - Best of Barossa tasting flight and Yalumba Rare and Fine tasting flight. Started with the Best of Barossa flight and at the end, decided to forgo the other flight as can feel the effects of the Bold Reds and I am the only driver. The Vine Vale Grenache is exceptional. One of the best Grenache I have drank so far. I was expecting something light (my impression of Grenache) but this is plush and bursting with flavors. The Eden Valley Syrah is a typical Shiraz, nothing that surprised me. But the next two - the Paradox as well as the FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blend are really really good. Another two exceptional bottles. Interesting to note that the Grenache and Paradox are from the valley floor (lower grounds of Barossa) whereas the Eden Valley Syrah and FDR1A are from Eden Valley. Accordingly to the sommelier, valley floor wines tends to be more robust and full bodied as it is hot day and night whereas wines from the upper Eden Valley tends to be more delicate and light-medium bodied as the grapes has time to take a breather from the heat at night where the cooler breeze comes in. Very good tasting experience.

Great to Visit one of the Grand Old Ladies of the Barossa! We loved our visit to Yalumba. The large, old and characterful cellar door was impressive and we enjoyed a set of excellent, full bodied reds that were really delicious! We also enjoyed a wander around the expansive set of heritage buildings and gardens. Finally, a big thank you to our host, Batesy, who was very friendly and helpful.

This was a perfect stop choice on our Wine Hopper visit to Barossa Valley. The option for a flight of White or Red Wines blended extraordinarily well with the palates of our group. The charcutier plate of cheeses, olives, crackers and thinly sliced prosciutto was a delightful complement to our wines.

The Wine Hopper option is the best value for your day in Barossa Valley and Yolumba is a visually appealing and taste bud treat you will not want to miss.

We recently took the 'Yalumba Unlocked' experience. Even though, it was a last mintute booking, they honoured the request and we were given almost a Private tour by Helen. She was amazing at showing us the Cooperage and answering our endless questions. It was a beautiful experience to see the history behind this amazing Family owned Winery. The tour was followed by tasting few of the finest wines accompanied by a tasty cheese platter. Definitely recommend for a more personal experience of the Winery and to get a glimpse of the family's story!
