Taribelang Bunda Cultural Tours is an immersive Indigenous experience
unique to the Bundaberg region, sharing rich history and culture of the
Taribelang people who have lived on Country for more than 60,000 years.
Taribelang Bunda guides Bec and Waszanna take guests on a
journey through time, sharing local Aboriginal culture and history that has
been passed on from generation to generation. Throughout the half-day tour, guests
will taste local bush tucker, learn how traditional artefacts such as the
Boomerang were used in daily life, and experience a genuine connection to the
land while visiting sites of significance across the region.
Developed with the Taribelang Bunda Elders, the tour offers
a unique opportunity for open conversation and connection through awareness,
brought through friendship and inclusivity. This cultural and historical
half-day tour is exclusive to the Bundaberg region and is a moving introduction
to the region’s vibrant Indigenous culture.

Discover the true stories
of Taribelang Bunda and immerse yourself in Dreaming as you embark on this
half-day tour – A unique introduction to the Bundaberg regions rich aboriginal
culture and history.
Begin your day meeting and greeting your friendly Taribelang guides before
exploring the region’s most historical and culturally significant sights by bus.
Your first destination will introduce you to the mighty Burnett River where
shared stories of the towns recent historical events are told, bringing to light
the resilience and strength of the Bundaberg community, and introducing you
to Taribelang Country.
As you continue the beginning of your day towards the town’s kinship and bustling
CBD, cast your mind back to days before colonisation, where roundabouts where
once billabongs that welcomed many booroo, (booroo meaning kangaroo),
emus and others, before being guided towards the eastern side of Bundaberg, home
to the iconic Bundaberg Rum Distillery and Bundaberg Creek, both areas of great
significance to Taribelang Bunda.
Continuing your journey, arrive at The Hummock, a place for you to stretch
your legs and hear stories of Taribelang culture along with shared insight
of Aboriginal artefacts. After admiring the view and soaking in your learnings,
enjoy a short morning tea filled with native bush flavours that overload the senses.
In the afternoon, learn important teachings about caring for the land and immerse
yourself in Dreaming before discovering other sites of significance, such as
Mon Repos and Round Scrub that play an integral role in Taribelang history.
As you begin the return to your place of departure, come together to discuss the
journey forward as one and uncover the region’s exquisite Indigenous artworks
along the way, learning all the new and exciting community projects that are
making waves across town, a tribute to the region’s rich history and culture.

On your journey, you will learn some of the darker stories of our history
which can be emotional, due to this we recommended this experience for
those aged 8 years and above. If you do have younger children and would

Self-drive:
From the south, head north on the Bruce Highway (A1). At Apple Tree Creek veer left onto Childers Road (State Route 3). Follow Childers Road (44km) until you arrive in Bundaberg. Continue north-east along Takalvan Street, (State Route 3 for 4km) and veer left onto the Tallon Bridge towards Gin Gin and turn right onto Thornhill Street. Turn right and continue along Thornhill Street (180m). Turn left onto Perry Street..
From the north, head south on the Bruce Highway (A1).
At Gin Gin veer left onto Bundaberg Gin Gin Rd (State Route 3).Follow Bundaberg Gin Gin and Mount Perry Road (47km) and continue onto Queen Street. At the second roundabout take the second exit and keep left onto Perry Street.
Rail: Queensland Rail offers a number of rail travel options to and from Bundaberg, with accommodation packages and transfers available here (include link).
Air – Bundaberg is serviced daily by QantasLink services ex Brisbane.
Bus – Greyhound Australia coaches operate daily services to Bundaberg from north and south.

Having mobility issues wasn't a problem as mostly a driving tour . Was and David were so helpful . Very informative and so friendly. Highly recommend this tour very enlightening. Will recommend to other service providers looking fir a great experience
My partner and I came on a tour to see the Bundaberg region. We were met With great insights into cultural heritage sites and the historical facts about the area before settlements, during, and after. The staff were very friendly and answered all our questions. We had such a great day! :)

The tour guide Waszanna was great telling us about the history and dream time stories of her ansesters. The tour was very informative and emotional telling us about their ways of living the tools they made and used and the history of the land.
We stopped and had morning tea which was a yummy damper and lemon myrtle jam that was made fresh that morning.
The message stick was a great gift to remember the information and tour by thank you so much.
