Extraordinary rock art We loved this tour, despite the early start and time spent in travel to and back from Arnhem land. Tim was engaging and committed to employing local Aboriginal people to share culture, unlike other companies. The work of climbing the hill, moving around and between rock passages was worth it - the rock art revealed was massive and overlapping, beautiful and awe inspiring.

Well worth the early start. Highly recommend this tour for so many reasons. Communication from Tim about the details of our pick up were great. The day was well explained before we got to Injalak so we knew what to expect. Our guide, Sean, was amazing and took time to answer all our questions. The location itself has huge amounts of rock art and great views of West Arnhem Land. The tour was great value for money also.

One tour you must go on that is just fantastic !!! Cannot recommend this company enough.Tim is fantastic with communication and is so friendly and professional.The tour itself was excellent . We were picked up on time, learnt a lot on the chat up to Jaribu where more passengers boarded and we changed to an all wheel drive. We were fortunate enough to see some of the wildlife On the drive to Arnhem Land.

One thing I loved with this company was that a local Aboriginal guide, Shaun ,
Took us up the mountain and shared his knowledge of the land, told us about amazing artwork and the dreaming stories associated with these. Shaun was great as we just asked so many questions and he was happy to answer .

Photos were welcome of most areas and again would let us know what areas were and weren’t able to have photos for specific cultural reasons which was totally understandable.

When we finished our walk down from the top, we were greeted by Tim with cold water and small towels that were in ice they were the best thing ever after the walk.

With this trip you are one of the very few that gets to experience the remotely located Arnhem land. Wonderful introduction to aboriginal culture. Tim, the tour operator, was a great guy and very responsive and Shawn, the local aboriginal guide was super impressive. The visit to Injalak Hill was amazing, with incredible rock art. We also stopped at the Gunbalaya art center which was very small and local. Overall, wonderful introduction to aboriginal culture.

An Insightful and Memorable Experience I loved this tour. I was a bit concerned beforehand that it might be too much to fit into one day, but I don't regret it for a moment.

It was an early start from Darwin, and I highly recommend picking up the phone and booking directly. Not only did none of the online booking agencies show availability from Darwin, meaning I would have missed out if I hadn't called, but it also helps support the operator. This is a small-group tour, and I had a great long chat with Tim and learned a lot along the way.

Unfortunately the art centre wasn't open during our visit, but we were fortunate to meet some traditional weavers nearby and see their beautiful work firsthand.

The walk is very manageable, but there is no formed path, so you need to be comfortable keeping up the pace and staying with the group.

Crag, a Djungkay for this Country, was incredibly generous in sharing his knowledge. I could easily have spent longer there, not because the visit felt rushed, but simply because I loved every minute of it. It was a privilege to visit such a special place and learn from those who care for it. I hope I am able to return one day.

A memorable day on Injalak Hill We had a brilliant day in Arnhem Land with Tim from Top End Day Tours and our indigenous guide Craig from the Gunbalanyah community. Once we arrived at the foot of Injalak Hill, Craig led the way, stopping frequently for us to view the remarkable rock art and the glorious views across the countryside. Craig was happy to answer all of our questions. He learned the stories of the paintings and the lore of the Bininj people from his visits to the hill with his elders as a boy, and he felt a responsibility to pass on the stories and explain the lore of his people. He brought us to a sheltered lunch spot that afforded glorious views across the billabong to Gunbalanyah and the floodplains beyond. We were constantly within metres of some of the finest examples of rock art in Australia - an experience not to be missed. Tim made sure we were well fed and had plenty of water available. His relationship with local guides like Craig ensures that visitors will get maximum value from their time on Injalak Hill

Don't Miss This Experience! A huge thank you to Tim and to Craig for sharing the time with us in our first visit to Arnhem Land. After an early start (and excellent Bacon and Egg Roll en route) we had a comfortable drive to Jabiru and then a change of vehicle for the bumpier drive on the Arnhem Highway to Gunbalanya. It was fantastic to spend time with Tim to hear about his experience growing up in the Northern Territory and learn more about this amazing part of the country. A visit to the Northern Territory isn't complete without a trip to Arnhem Land especially with a local indigenous guide, in our case Craig. We were keen to see the Injalak Hill Rock Art and seeing it with Craig was a really special experience. We really appreciated his openness and ability to share the stories of his land and his ancestors. The Rock Art is incredible but it was the whole experience that day that was really memorable and gave us a much better understanding of life in Arnhem Land. All the best Tim, your ability to connect across cultures is really special and thanks for sharing with us.

This trip is a must-do! There are not enough words to effectively describe what an incredible experience this was. Tim picked us up from our hotel in Darwin and we drove down to Jabiru then stopped off at Injalak Art Gallery for a look and also to collect our Aboriginal Guide Craig. Then off to Injalak Hill where we were held spellbound for the next few hours while Craig led us up the hill on a tour of the amazing rock paintings that have been there for many hundred and sometimes thousands of years. Craig gave us detailed insights into the meanings of the paintings and also the culture of his people. We were also very privileged to be allowed to visit the most sacred & spiritual area of the hill.
The view from the top is nothing short of spectacular.
Tim is a great tour host, friendly and happy to have a chat, a laugh, and impart his knowledge on the areas we went through on the journey down, and he made us a darn good lunch as well!
We absolutely loved this trip and everyone visiting up here should do it.

Best day in Kakadu Fantastic experience best rock art great and knowledgeable indigenous guide. Access to remote sites was really appreciated.

Wonderful tour and people An absolutely brilliant experience from the moment I was picked up until I was dropped off. Tim, the tour guide, was wonderful ensuring the experience wasn’t ruined by time constraints. This meant we were able to enjoy everything and not worry we were moving onto something else before we were ready. Being guided by Shaun up Injalak hill was so special and the stories he told were both wonderful and disturbing and we climbed up during a controlled burn, in no danger whatsoever. Sadly the arts centre was closed (Kings birthday!) but the Art around the building was sensational. A lot of driving, but this really didn’t matter I had never been to Kakadu or Arnhem land before so was in awe of everything I saw. Don’t miss this tour it’s wonderful ..and lunch was delicious too especially sitting looking over the land below us.

Awesome day in Arnhem Land This tour is an extremely insightful way to learn about Aboriginal culure and Arnhem Land. We had about an hour in the tour bus from Jabiru to Arnhem Land. During that portion of the ride, Tim did an incredible job of explaining how the day would work, who and what we would see, encouraging us to ask lots of questions and other logistics of the day. He even noted that an important member of the community had passed away recently and the funeral was the day before our tour. Which meant our tour mught be impacted (it was not). All very helpful. What he (intentionally) doesn't do is speak on behalf of the people who live in Arnhem Land. We had a local man join our tour when we arrived in Arnhem Land and he was our guide the rest of the day. He explained traditions and answered questions. He was very soft spoken, which added to the allure. He explained the rock art we saw at several stops along the way. He took us to a beautiful lookout where we had lunch. All in all, a truly wonderful day and tour.

Yingani - be aware you need to be very, very fit as its full day rock climbing in the heat We booked the Yingana tour, and having read the info in the website & acknowledging the “being able to walk uneven surfaces” we interpreted this as we would have to occasionally walk or climb uneven surfaces - which is perfectly fine.

However, the evening before departure we received a Whatsapp making it clear this is a several hour hill climbing tour in the heat, with no pathways at all - only several hours of rock climbing.
This is something not all of us were able to do; We had no other choice then to cancel, a pity as we were really looking forward to the tour. As the cancellation terms (48h in advance) had passed, we threw away hundreds of Dollars.

So- when considering booking, be aware, Yingani is not an excursion with some walking/climbing but it is a several hour hike away from the vehicle, up the mountain. You certainly need more then an average level of fitness, so website could be more
Specific on this.

Should all this have been clear to us at time of booking or at least more then 48 hours before departure, we would have cancelled & received a refund - and opted for another day trip. Now we faced a 1000 AUD loss.

Rock art up close and personal We had the privilege of doing the Arnhem Land Yingana Injalak full day tour. I say privilege because it truly was special and guided by a local wholives on these lands and his ancestors have lived here continuously for 10,000 years.
It was very special, seeing the rock art up close and personal, and hearing the native stories and legends behind it. We also visited sacred burial grounds and could see how much the site means to our guide, Craig. The views from the top of Injalak hill were spectacular and we enjoyed a picnic lunch looking out over the whole landscape below.
This tour requires sure footing and there is lots of scrambling over rocks. Our driver Tim was very friendly and brought us to the border store as the art center was closed on the day we went, which was a surprise to him. We were picked up at the Croc Hotel shortly before nine and back after four so it is a full day trip! I would highly recommend

MEMORABLE DAY TOUR VIEWING ANCIENT ROCK ART This tour offered exactly what I wanted: viewing ancient indigenous rock art and learning more about indigenous culture. It was brilliant. During the drive, Tim had time to share his extensive local knowledge of the area and advised of his working with indigenous guides to create an authentic experience. These guides live, love and know the land, the culture and the stories that have been orally passed down from generation to generation. Craig, our guide, opened his heart explaining his cultural history, the importance of "country" to "family" and replied to our many questions. Climbing the Hill, Craig stopped to interpret many of the paintings, linked to stories, which often led to events in his family's life. The extent and condition of the ancient rock art is exceptional. At the top of the Hill, we ate our picnic lunch while enjoying the spectacular view below.

We really enjoyed our day tour to Injalak hill and Arnhem Land with Tim and Sebastian (14/7/2025). This tour felt very authentic and we really liked that we had an Aboriginal guide from the local area. We loved hearing Seb’s stories and knowledge about the amazing rock art. This was truly a very special place and I’m so grateful we were able to experience it.
There was a lot of climbing over rocks and through tight spaces which we loved, but if you are not very fit or mobile, this tour probably isn’t for you.
Finally, we really enjoyed hearing how passionate Tim is about Aboriginal culture and bridging the gap between white Australians and Indigenous Australians. It’s such an important conversation to have!

Best rock art in the world Injalak Hill rock art is better than Ubirr or Nourlangie and there’s heaps more of it.

It would be a crime to visit Kakadu and not do this tour. Our guide Sean was a local Indigenous man. Unlike the Kakadu sites there’s no fences and it’s allot more authentic. Also includes visit to art gallery where prices are better than at Jabiru.

Lunch was really nice and you have it in an a cave art gallery where people have met for many thousands of years.

Aboriginal Culture Highlight This trip to Arnhem Land was the highlight of my 3 weeks in Australia. Tim organized a powerful cultural event that allowed us to see and hear about the aboriginal world with Shaun, a local who made his culture come alive for us. This is one of the best rock art sites in Australia, on a level with Ubirr. With Shaun’s graciousness and wisdom, we moved beyond the art to hear and feel the culture that created it. We saw the most amazing Rock Art and I was blown away by Shaun's stories. Arnhem Land is so beautiful, peaceful and harmonious. Tim has alot of integrity and only works with Aboriginal Guides and is highly supportive of their culture, this is the most authentic tour I have ever been on.

Don't leave the top end without experiencing this tour. This adventure is a 'must do' experience in the top end. Review: Yingana Arnhem Land Tour – A Life-Changing Experience I recently had the privilege of taking part in the Yingana Arnhem Land Tour, and I can confidently say it was one of the most authentic and profound travel experiences I’ve ever had.

From start to finish, the tour was uniquely well-planned, deeply informative, and, most importantly, a true and respectful representation of Aboriginal culture specific to the Arnhem Land region. As a solo traveller in my 30s, I felt completely welcomed and included throughout the entire journey—thanks to the incredible guides, Tim and Sean.

Tim was not only exceptionally knowledgeable about Aboriginal culture and history, but his passion for sharing this knowledge was absolutely contagious. I joined the Yingana Tour with Tim from Top End Day Service, and it was absolutely fantastic. On our way from Darwin, we spotted two dingoes, lots of birds, and even buffalo. Crossing Cahill Crossing was thrilling – we even saw a crocodile crossing the road!

The highlight of the day was Injalak Hill, where we had a long and insightful tour of the incredible Aboriginal rock art. What makes this tour truly special is that Tim always brings an Aboriginal guide along. We were lucky to have John with us – he spoke excellent English and shared so much knowledge about the culture, stories, and art. It added real depth to the experience.

Tim is a great guide with deep knowledge and respect for the culture. The views throughout the day were breathtaking, and I learned so much about the nature and history of Arnhem Land.

An unique experience of non-touristic Aboriginal Land! Such a fascinating tour! All the guides are local Arnhemlanders, so this is your chance to be among the Aboriginal in a good way and see a bit of their lifestyle. One of the guides takes you for a walk up to Injallak Hill which offers you a beautiful view over the community and a part of Arnhemland. It also offers you a lot of interesting Rock Paintings (Rock Art). The guide loves it if you ask questions, so if you have questions don’t hasitate and ask :)
The guide also tells you about their beliefs and spirits which is really interesting. I would really recommend it. It gives you the chance to see a quite non-touristic part of Aboriginal land in Australia!

Magnificent landscape, incredible, ancient art, beautiful storytelling by a traditional owner and exceptionaland inspiringart at Injalak. It's a long day from Darwin but it's worth every minute. A great experience. My wife and I really enjoyed the tour. Seeing the Rock art, and hearing the stories behind the drawings was special, and educational. Tim and Sean were excellent. Getting to the drawings was harder than we anticipated, but as there was no rush, we completed the tour without incident. Highly recommended.

The Experience of a Lifetime Yes, it was an early start to the day but a day I will never ever forget! Starting with the beauty of the landscape via the meticulous organisation of the day to the most generous and patient information our indigenous guide Sean provided- I could not fault a single aspect of it. Thank you so much Tim and Sean travellers beware: wear sturdy shoes, do take a one litre water bottle with you. Tim has loads of cold water on board and will want you to drink plenty of water throughout the day! Ladies, there will be plenty of bathroom stops, make use of them if bush toilets are not your thing. Watch your step, leaf litter and loose rocks can cause you to slip. Bring a hat and mozzie spray if you don’t like flies. The walks are not long but given the heat, general climatic conditions etc, I suggest this is not for you if you are on a walking frame, on crutches or if you have mobility issues including those that might bring on Asthma or breathing difficulties. Tim is a great guy but Arnhem land is Australian wilderness so a broken ankle will mean hours and hours of waiting- in pain no less - until medical help arrives!! Plan ahead and work in partnership with the tour operator. I repeat: you are in for an amazing and totally unforgettable day!!!

Authentic and beautiful The landscape is beautiful and our time on Injalak hill with our Arnhem land guide Roland was really interesting and fun. So many rock art caves to explore. Then the view at the top!! I'm so glad I went on this tour and Tim our guide was friendly and informative. You need to be agile to do this tour and while most of it is in the shade there are short periods in the heat of the day when climbing the hill.

a very unique day, spectacular sights the climb up the hill was a bit challenging on a very very hot day, but very doable as long as you paid attention to your footing. the rock art was the most amazing thing I have seen. so many thousands of years of history in these hills and rocks. the aboriginal guide was great and we learned a lot. the host/guide was great I thought the lunch needed some sanitary considerations because the lunch was not set out with clean hands and lids were taken off too soon and insects soon descended. lunch prep needs much improvement.

Rock Art in Arnham Land Awesome day. Excellent guide. Small group was perfect. An incredible experience - the rock art is so amazing.

Outstanding I have a moderate fitness level and was quit daunted by climbing the rock. Seb , our caretaker guide , gave me confidence and I nailed it. This is a trip you MUST do with Tim and seb. The rock art beautiful. Highlight was a visit to the sacred burial ground of Seb’s grandfather. We even got picked up in Jabiru and it was a little cheaper as we didn’t have to come form Darwin. Just do it. You won’t be disappointed. ( lunch was good too )

A fabulous day I can't speak highly enough of this tour. We went into Arnhemland where non-Aboriginal people don't usually go. We saw rock painting after rock painting and these were enhanced by stories from our Aboriginal guide. The climb was challenging - not recommended for people without a reasonable level of fitness and agility.

The rock art galleries were of exceptional quality and condition. Generations of stories told on these remote rock walls were explained with great knowledge and respect by Seb who was our passionate and proud Bininj guide.
Injaluk Hill is a beautifully paced walk with a stunning outlook over Gunbalunya.
Lots of opportunity to stop and take photos and feel the essence of the country.
Lunch atop the hill in a rock cave was a really welcome experience with some further Q and A with Seb who spoke of modern vs traditional life in Arnhem Land.

A marvellous day that I will never forget. A marvellous tour that I will never forget. Fantastic rock art in a stunning setting and a great opportunity to learn more of the first nation culture. Our driver/guide Tim was friendly, courteous, careful of our safety and wanted nothing more than for us to enjoy the land he clearly loves. Our local guide Sebastian was generous in sharing his knowledge and open to all of our questions. It was an honour and a privilege to visit such a special place.

A must do Arnhem Land day trip. The day trip was an amazing and genuinely authentic experience from start to finish.

Tim and Spotin were excellent hosts and guides for the day and it blew us away how beautiful the area was and how much was opened up to us that we thought would be impossible for a balanda to ever see.

The rock art was world class and was expertly explained. The rocky path was steep in places but the team ensured all levels were supported and we took our time as a group.
The bus was very comfortable and well air conditioned and we had an amazing morning tea and lunch provided. We were a small group and basically had the site to ourselves.

This area has very limited access but it is an exceptional must see site. I would recommend everyone to come on this trip. The art and cultural experience are second to none and you will cherish the experience forever.

A walk amongst historical Arnhem Land rock art Gammas Top End Tours. I highly recommend this tour. Tim looked after us all from pick up to drop off. Tim is the “glue” that makes this day a success. But, as Tim will tell you, the day cannot be a success without the traditional tour operators. Today we were hosted by Sprotin, who is also a talented local artist. Sprotin showed us some amazing history of our country that has been recorded in rock art. It was a great experience. There is a bit of walking up and down Injalak Hill, but it is all done at a slow pace and with good support. Ma. Bo Bo.
