First time helicopter experience We did our first helicopter experience with Zoom. We really had the best time. Was a truly amazing experience. Chris was our instructor and I would highly recommend him. Was a brilliant trip and saw some amazing scenes. Highly recommended this company.

Highly recommended helicopter tour in Cairns We did the 90-minute Reef and Rainforest flight. Excellent outfit and our pilot, Neals, was great. Their smaller helicopter accommodates 3 passengers in addition to the pilot which worked great for us as there were exactly 3 of us. They also have a larger one that can take 4 passengers. Finding their location is easy, just Uber to the address. They had free drinks before the flight with some safety instructions. We enjoyed the flight over Reef much more than over land. The Reef is really the unique thing in Cairns, so recommend doing more Reef flight time than over land. I used my Garmin watch to do a Track Me activity so you can see our flight map in the attached photo. All in all, an excellent experience, highly recommended, although a bit pricey.

We did the 40 minute Great Barrier Reef tour. Hailey was a fantastic pilot and great host during our tour. She made us feel safe and comfortable through the whole process. It was nice that there was no extensive safety briefings or admin before getting in the air but this was no compromise on the safety of the flight. Just a really smooth, easy process.
Visibility on the day we went was fantastic and we were able to see so much from the air, even getting to see a whale breach the water. Being able to purchase the recording of our flight was great and allowed us to focus on the experience knowing we could have great vision all captured at the end. Still had plenty of opportunities to capture our own photos from the windows.

Bucket list 2025 Great flight and views lucky enough to see whale and calf. Only disappointment was the video was deficient on the audio.I rang the owner and he was happy to reimburse the cost of the video as I explained that the audio issue detracted from the experience.owner explained what was happening with audio and was happy to reimburse and apologised. No issues with business as it was totally professional in its dealings.Hayley the pilot was excellent.

Don't be a cheap skate We hummed about which flight to take..ie short or long. Decided to suck it up ($$$ wise) and book the 1 hour flight over the Barrier and Daintree. Not disappointed one bit. Well worth paying the xtra. The pilot was a young lady (originally from Perth)that was full of enthusiasm and obviously loved her job. Thank you so much for the adventure and have a wonderful time on your visit to NZ.

Spectacular!! What a spectacular way to see the Great Barrier Reef!! The weather was perfect, the reef gorgeous, and our fabulous pictures captured it all!!! Best Helicopter Tour in Cairns Zoom offers the most diverse options and great flexibility, as they operate smaller helicopters, so you don’t need a large group. They also provide a wide range of tours to choose from based on your preferences. Our pilot, Hayley, also acted as a tour guide, sharing stories about the reef and pointing out aquatic animals like sharks and stingrays. The only downside is that they’re not located in the city center, but thanks to their proximity to the airport, it can be a convenient first stop after arrival or a final stop before departure.

Great Barrier Reef From Above I was terrified of doing this at first, but I am SO glad I did! The helicopter is small, but it felt fine when we were up there. The views you see are views that are impossible to see unless you're in a helicopter. Just book it!!! My sister and I were pleasantly surprised with our experiences, and Brendan was super knowledgeable and made us feel safe. Would 100% do it again.

Great helicopter ride to the Outer Reef We took the 40 minute tour to the Outer Reef. The weather was spectacular and the ride was very smooth. Our pilot was very knowledgeable about the GBR.

This was a great experiance. Flight was nearly an hour long and takes you over the reef and up into the hills over the Barron River. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Would thoroughly recommend this company.

Awesome experience!!!!! Was hesitant initially as it seems like a tiny operation with their little building and small helicopter, but they were all so friendly, owner/founder was very accommodating. In the end, the experience can only be described as jaw-dropping and totally worth the money. One thing I wish I did was pair it with a snorkeling excursion as I found out later they partner with some of the other companies to fly you out to a pontoon at a reef . it would have made more sense for us cost-wise and time-wise to do these 2 things together (and save the rocky boat ride out to the reef).

Fear Of Heights Quickly Forgotten 8/6/2024
My daughter and I did the Rainforest Fusion flight this morning with Niels and it was absolutely amazing.
I am scared of heights, but this fear was quickly forgotten thanks to the beautiful scenery and our pilots lovely friendly manner.
From booking, right through to actually experiencing the flight, they’ve been a great company to deal with. I would 100% recommend Zoom Helicopters too everyone

45 mins scenic flight The pilot was very helpful, professional, friendly and easy to talk to. We flew very smoothly in the air, it was a little bit windy, but the pilot did a really great job driving the helicopter. We were accommodated very well. Five out of five!

What a fantastic experience!
We were lucky enough to land on the sandy cay and enjoy a cold beverage, while watching the turtles, reef sharks and rays swim around us in the shallows. The Zoom team are extremely professional, accommodating and of course excellent pilots. Highly recommend when visiting Cairns.

We were trying to squeeze in a helicopter tour of the reef very last minute. After being turned down by multiple places and thinking we missed our opportunity, Zoom Helicopters answered their phone and were happy to take us out on one last tour for the day. Even though it was later in the day, the views were spectacular and the tour was more than we could have asked for. I highly recommend Zoom Helicopters.

An outstanding trip flying out to Green Island from Cairns Airport and back inland to Barron Falls and Gorge. Certainly the most spectacular way to see the reef and fall.

Wonderful Experience We enjoyed all things about our half hour over the reef . The colours of the water and reef were amazing and the pilot landing for a few seconds on a sand bank lots of fun . Main thing was the pilot had lots of experience and we felt safe he also had a great knowledge of the area.

Stunning & cool experience I loved this tour! It was one of the best things we did during our Australia vacation. The view of the reef is stunning, and the owner was so accommodating! I saw a sea turtle and a stingray from the sky, which was so cool! And we touched down on a small sandbank, allowing us to get a bit closer to the reef. 10/10 recommend!

Fantastic Great Barrier Reef heli tour Our friend at the local Music store in Cairns recommended Zoom to us .. They are a relatively new company and because of that possibly trying a little harder than their more established competitor peers to give the reef tourist a fantastic experience.

We were checked in last Saturday and piloted by Niels, a friendly , gentle , respectful and knowledgeable helicopter pilot .. who took us up and out over all the reef , at various heights to get the best views, and at a relaxing gentle speed that put us totally at ease .

We learned about the eco system of the reef , the area in general , the sand bars , Green Island.. It was to use superlatives , a life affirming and unforgettable experience ..

I’ve paid a lot more money for a forgettable meal for two than we were charged for this fantastic flight ..

We flew lower and closer to the sea compared with fixed-wing aircraft and had the opportunity to spot large marine creatures. Go with the small company and get a better trip I went on a solo hour trip across both the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforest, it was fab. I had been on a few helicopter trips previously and knew what to expect, which generally included reasonably small windows at the back giving a poor and restricted view. To avoid this I went alone to guarantee a front seat!

I was met by the lovely Niels, my warm and welcoming pilot. After a clear safety briefing, we took off, after he had offered free drinks, including champagne for my flight! Nice touch.

The trip itself was amazing and Niels was full of knowledge about everything we saw and much that we didn’t!The hour went super quick, so if money allows I would always recommend getting the longest flight you can..

The helicopters used by Zoom are not like those you see taking off by the beach, they are smaller and bubble like, meaning the windows are much larger all the way around giving a great view wherever you sit! These guys are based just outside town by the airport. I would personally say it is well worth going with a small company like Zoom as you really to get fab service and the best views. Highly recommend.

Outer Reef Odyssey (40 Mins) Our whole experience was amazing. From start to end. Our helicopter pilot, Neils made us feel relaxed. Smooth take off & landing and also throughout the whole flight with great commentary. We covered Most of Arlington Reef, Green Island, and we got to land on a Sandy Cay. He spotted a large Ray and also a shark. Would definitely do this again. Five stars from me XXXXX Velia

A great experience It was girls trip weekend. It was an experience of a lifetime. It was nice to sew the reef from above and we were able to see a couple of whales as well which was an added bonus.

Zoom helicopter This was the highlight of our honeymoon. We got to see beautiful views of the coral reef and we were the only two in the helicopter plus the pilot. Felt special and our polite was great!

Highlight of our Cairns trip This really is a bucket list trip. Having snorkeled and dived at Frankland Island group, Moore Reef and up Saxon and Hastings Reef, it was fantastic to do the hour Reef Explorer trip and go over these same areas. Obviously it is not cheap at $699 each, but it is an experience worth every cent.
It was fascinating to hear the conversations between air traffic control and Johno, our pilot, before take off. Safety was paramount. The flight was smooth, but got very exciting with some of the tight turns to see some marine life on the reef. The view is pretty much unobstructed. We saw turtle, rays and a large shark on the edge of the reef. We returned over Green Island.
Our Johno was very informative and jovial. You are also provided with a usb stick with a video recording.
I would certainly do this again. It even has made me consider taking lessons. Loved the feeling of freedom and flying.
Get a taxi to the site, as it is not that obvious to get to.
