Although my family and I went on the Bicheno Penguin Tour during a windy and rainy day, we had an unforgettably cool experience! The tour was well structured and our tour guide, Zarlie (apologies if I’ve misspelled the name), was very warm and insightful, with a great sense of humour. We learned so many interesting facts about the penguins! All the staff were super friendly and we had a lovely adventure, braving the cold to see the resilient and cute penguins. Would definitely recommend!

Zali was an excellent tour guide. Very informative. We saw two penguins approach the 2nd run.. and one penguin in the 3rd run. We saw several couples of baby penguins waiting for their parents to return with food. We also got to see the Aurora which was very special. Highly recommend this tour if you’re in town. It was als special being able to walk around the rookery to see the little homes of the various penguins.

We went during the Christmas period and had Zaliah as a tour guide, the tour and explanation from the guide was great and the facility at the beach is great. It really was great to see the protection and isolation they are trying to provide to the penguins with the low light levels and the man made burrows.
Well worth the visit.
A hint when you get to the viewing platform, try and get a front seat because if you sit in the back row like we did, you may get rude people stand up infront of you and block the view.

We had a wonderful experience on the penguin tour in Bicheno with our family. Seeing the little penguins up close was absolutely magical — they are just so cute! Our tour guide, Ella, was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so many interesting facts that made the experience even more special. The bus drivers were also very friendly and welcoming, which set a great tone from the start. Overall, every team member we encountered was lovely, kind, and professional. We truly felt well looked after and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bicheno.
Will definitely revisit next time we visit Bicheno.

Luv the experience. All
Staff - admin, drivers and guides are very approachable and friendly. My guide, Soul, shares every stories about the penguins with vigour, humour and creative, making me feel like owning one!
They are organized, ensuring not too many in a group so everyone can have a wonderful experience. Definitely a must visit place when you are at Bicheno. Put on super super thick jackets coz it will be super cold.

Such a sweet experience! The tour was great and it felt really lovely to get so close to the penguins. Matilda was our guide and she was great! Very knowledgeable and passionate about the penguins. Bicheno Penguin Tours offers a very unique and educational opportunity to view up close the Blue Penguin species that lives along the Tasmanian coastline. The two hour trip, education and observation of the penguins returning from the sea to their nests was worth the drive to Bicheno from Hobart! Our energetic and knowledgeable tour guide, Matilda, was delightful and helped us get the most out of time there. Don’t miss this opportunity to look into part of Tasmania’s rich environmental heritage.

A unique experience for my husband and I and would definitely recommend. Our guide was so friendly and informative. Despite her advice on how we needed to behave around the penguins, eg no flash when taking photos, no movement when they near us, etc there was still visitors who ignored the advice and needed to be reminded, on more than one occasion. At one stage, I reminded someone, as politely as possible, to adhere to her instructions. Amazing experience, thank you for the opportunity to view these beautiful creatures.

Excellent experience. We were lucky enough to see so many penguins in many different areas across the rookery. They were adorable and it was amazing to watch them in their natural habitat. The tour was also very informative and our tour guide, Conor, was extremely knowledgeable and really cared about the penguins. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely must do when touristing Tasmania! The whole experience was extremely worth it.
We did the second session of the night, and in my opinion that was the best one, getting the best of seeing the penguins and getting to stay there the longest.
The guides are extremely knowledgeable, Connor knew heaps of great little facts and you could tell how much he cared for the little penguins.
Pair this experience with dinner beforehand at the Food'n'Brew next door for a great night!

We had a brilliant evening learning about these gorgeous creatures. Our guide, Dean (I think) was knowledgeable and made the facts interesting. We were given time to watch the penguins come up the beach as well as to see those who had already reached their nests. Thank you for such a fun evening. Thanks also to the bus driver who had the bus toasty warm on our return.

Great to know they are helping increase local population numbers by providing protected area for breeding, safe from predators. I would highly recommend this experience!

When the sun slipped behind the horizon, the beach turned into a secret stage.
Under a sky dusted with stars, tiny blue penguins emerged from the waves — shaking off the sea, calling softly to each other, and waddling home in little groups.
The sound of the ocean and their gentle footsteps felt like a lullaby only the coast could sing.

We visited in early August and had a great evening. Zarli our guide was full of info and clearly loved the little penguins. A great set up where you get to see the penguins coming up onto land and see them in their homes! The penguins are really well respected (the red light means you can see them but doesn’t scare the penguins or hurt their eyes) and obviously feel safe which is great. Would highly recommend!

Friendly and informative tour guides. We were fortunate enough to see a few groups of penguin make their way up from the sea to shore.we also saw the first two chicks for the season. Knowing they’re able to breed in a safer environment due to this education for locals and visitors to this area was a highlight for me. Small enough groups to ensure good visuals of the penguins as well as other mammals living on the shoreline. Definitely worth the fee, knowing I’m contributing to the program. Highly recommended.

Great night time experience with Bicheno Penguin Tours.
Very knowledgeable great service and well organised tour.
Could not have been simpler.
Very accommodating to families.
Bonus was that the penguins were on show seeing about 20-25 with a mix of those parading and nesting.

A magical and unforgettable experience!
I did the Penguin Tour in Bicheno yesterday and it was absolutely amazing! The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about protecting the penguins and their environment.
Watching the little blue penguins waddle up the beach at sunset was truly magical. The tour is well-organized, respectful of the animals, and suitable for all ages. I learned a lot and felt lucky to see these beautiful creatures so close in their natural habitat.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tasmania — an experience you won’t forget!

It was very informative as well as a great opportunity to see penguins up close.
After boarding the bus we drove to a secret site. As we wandered around waiting for the penguins to arrive we were told many facts.
We sat on stools and watched the penguins get out of the water, climb the rocks, shake the water off, preen themselves then waddle up the track past us and into the bushy area where their safe havens were
Lots of opportunities for photos
Well worth doing !!

I had an unforgettable experience with Bicheno Penguin Tours! November is the perfect time to visit, as it's when the penguins come ashore to nest. We saw heaps of penguins, including adorable baby chicks, and even witnessed a bit of penguin drama – some of them were clearly having a heated argument!
As an added bonus, we also spotted a wombat during the tour, which was an amazing surprise. The guides were knowledgeable and made the experience even more enjoyable with their insights into the penguins’ behavior and habitat. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area – it’s truly a must-do for wildlife enthusiasts!
For the best chance to see the penguins, I’d recommend visiting between September and January, when they’re most active onshore.

We went to an area and watched the penguins come out of the sea and walk across the beach before making their way up to the nests. We saw more penguins than I'd expected and they came close by. Mel took us to a few different locations to see the penguins making their way up to their nests. It was an incredible experience that exceeded my expectations. I'd highly recommend this attraction and I think it is great value for money.

1st the Penguins. I think if you want to see penguins THIS is the way to do it. They are very well organized and very informed. I learned a lot. But the most important - we saw penguins!!!! we were there in the winter so 'only' saw 20 or so. It was an amazing experience!!!!! - Oh and the shop - cute and well stocked and I found a great shirt on sale!

This was absolutely the best experience so far. The little creatures are amazing. You just want to pick them up and cuddle them (but I didn't). Our guide was brilliant. His knowledge and experience meant he could answer all our questions. The penguins walked up, waddling right next to our feet as they moved to their burrows. In the hut there are three viewing burrows, one of which contained a penguin on an egg. Wow, just wow!

A bit overpriced for what it offers.Included is transfer to a specific beach and some commentary. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see very many penguins on the night, which we understand that’s nature. Overall staff were friendly but would have like to have spent more then just an hour there for the price we paid. Also only the staff hold red torches

Had the best experience on this tour. We were kept in small groups as we were taken around. Our guide was very informative and the experience was wonderful. It was wonderful to be in amongst the penguins with too much human interference.
We have to remember these are wild animals and they have their own timetable and we fit around them! So whilst the number of penguins we saw were small, we still saw them up close and it was so amazing, thank you!
Recommend dressing warm as it was cold!

The tour was professionally run and our guide was very knowledgeable. More importantly, she made sure that we did not disturb or do anything that would harm/scare the penguins while we were watching them. These are things which we wouldn't have known had we gone to see the penguins without a guided tour (e.g. shining white light at them and chasing after them).
We were brought to a spot on the beach exclusive to the tour where we saw many penguins (it was breeding season)! Red lights were installed so that we could see the penguins. The kids love it!

Went here tonight after pre-book ing well in advance. Chose to do this instead of Phillip Island.
I really enjoyed the experience of seeing the small penguins come in. Quite a number of them and excellent proximity to them. The pictures are hard to take due to lighting, cut that's required for the penguins.

Amazing! One of the highlights of our trip. We learned a lot about the penguins, saw them at different stages of the night (chicks waiting for parents to return, parents emerging from beach, preening, couples reuniting, couples sitting on eggs, etc), and one even walked through my legs!! Everyone on our tour got a great view of penguins multiple times. SO GREAT! Must do!

The BEST little penguin tour by far. Forget Phillip Is with the huge crowds noisy kids and entitled adults. We had penguins literally 6ft away waddling past. Some even weaved their way through the crowd to their burrows. We saw 50-60 including chicks. Rookery is amazing and very large. It was quiet, you could here chicks being fed and adults calling. $63 per adult for guaranteed up close n personal. Well worth it. Fantastic experience. Don't overlook this tour. We 4 visited in October.
