We hope that you enjoy our tour. It’s always good to be prepared, so:

Wear comfortable clothes to suit the weather, and sturdy walking shoes
Long pants and long-sleeved shirts are recommended

So, well worth the $17 admission (concession), but very touristy with lots of visitors from all over Australia in the carpark. Out-numbered by flies though! The good old Aussie salute was hard at work. No real indoor eating facilities to get away from the flies, but there is an outdoor shelter and toilets. Indoors only a gift shop and a couple of tables to eat ice-creams, etc. There is a sealed, flat, path down to the viewing area and ramps to the most popular viewing spot - so good for those with mobility issues. We also spotted lizards both large and small on the way down, as well as some nice wildflowers (spring time). It is seasonal, so check that its open before driving (the very good sealed road) down from the highway.

Entry was $20 or $17 for seniors.



We saw 6 whales and got to see part of the Australian Bight.



Well worth turning off to visit.



Whale watching season is between 1 June and 30 October.

Dr Steve Milner is a scientist and an outstanding guide, able to find equally interesting alternatives when nature reveals its more extreme moods.

Do not hurry by. This is an amazing spot for viewing whales and their calves during the breeding season from June to October - the viewing platforms have been built right out onto the cliffs. The view is also spectacular. It is not far off the Eyre highway and a short distance from Nullarbor Roadhouse (25km) and 89km from Yatala Roadhouse and Caravan park. There is info at both roadhouses on how many whales and calves have been sighted and at the entrance to the feeder road. The road in is good and there are facilities including toilets, undercover picnic area and a large carpark at the Tourist centre, which also has cold drinks and snacks. The viewing platform and ramps are reasonably accessible . There is an entry fee (eg at the time of writing $20/adult, $50 family 2 adults 2 children) but it is well worth paying and this helps maintain the excellent facilities. Pets are not permitted into the Tourist Centre or the boardwalk - but you can have them in the carpark (we have a motorhome so no problems leaving our boy and it was reasonably cool, but if you are in a car think about the temperature as there is not much shade).

					We had a fantastic day out with Steve on the Ancient Dunes and Mallee tour and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.  Steve was very professional, the vehicle was clean and very comfortable.  The lunch and snacks were great.  Steve had an interesting work life and hobbies which added to our trip.  We don’t have a 4wd, so we would not be able to go the places he took us.  There was only us and nature, no other cars on our day out.  Next time we go to Ceduna we will definitely be booking another trip with Steve.

					Our 9 hour day tour with Steve was one of the highlights of our trip up the Eyre Peninsula.

We would not have been able to visit the sites/sights by ourselves. He took us to remote  sites with views of the Bight which was spectacular and introduced us to birds, crustaceans, lizards, fossils and claw and paw prints in the rocks.



We felt entirely safe in his hands while driving through rugged terrain. Not only did Steve have extensive knowledge of the geology, flora, fauna of the area, he was also passionate about its indigenous and exploration history and its ecological specialness. He provided a stimulating conversation during our drives discussing scientific research, his experience of caving and the archeological richness in the Nullabor.



Steve was very considerate in maintaining a pace and itinerary which commensurate with our age. Never pushing us for time and was flexible with the schedule.



His vehicle was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The two meals provided had high quality and delicious offerings in generous helpings and there was also the bonus of hot boiling water for our beverages. Collapsible chairs, proper crockery and cutlery were provided to enable leisurely enjoyment of the view on Eyres Bluff.

Altogether a most memorable outing.

					Steve was a great host. He knew the area extremely well and was knowledgable about the people, animals and geography of the area we travelled through. We had never travelled over sand dunes and were intrigued with his driving skills as he took us to lovely waterside spots. Steve is a dab hand at providing hot drinks with his gas stove and the catered food was excellent and plentiful. The drive from the sand dunes to the dingo fence was an opportunity to learn about each other and swap travel stories. We were impressed with his rapport with the local Aboriginal elders and his respect for their culture. The day went very quickly.

My company, Teague Tours, has brought just under 500 guests (mainly from the Eastern States) to this piece of untouched Nature over the past 9 Whale Watching seasons. I combine my tours with EP Cruises, possibly Australia's BEST whale watching operator. EP Cruises are based 150km east of the Head of Bight and the two venues combine beautifully together. 					Tours are very unique. Steve is so knowledgeable & passionate about the Eyre Peninsula. We did three different tours and each one took us to places that we could never go without being on these tours. Areas are remote, stunning & memorable. Opportunity to learn about history, plants, wildlife, geology & all areas visited. Comfortable vehicle, felt very safe in all types of terrain. Delicious morning tea & lunches in stunning settings. Lots of opportunities to take photos  We loved each tour and highly recommended that you experience EP uniquely with Ancient Lans Tours. Great value for money.

You will learn a lot, see some spectacular scenery, maybe even a few birds (osprey and Major Mitchell cockatoos in our case) and get to taste some lovely snacks along the way.  In addition you will see the quirky windmill collection at Penong and Lake Macdonnell (which may or may not be pink).
