Massive shout out to the Crew at Catch a Crab. Friendly, informative and professional, these guys are the real deal 😊💪🏽🇦🇺
From oyster farming through to crab species the Skipper Dan (Legend) was all over it and clearly has a passion for the environment and habitat. Supported by Jazz, Lulu and Ember the cruise was a dream as a boy growing up on the river and I wasn’t disappointed. Thanks guys - Merry Christmas 😊💪🏽🇦🇺
Special thanks to the skipper Dave. He remained calm but quickly steered the boat back to shore and directed us to the nearest hospital when our youngest daughter had a seizure like episode towards the end of the tour.
They were super friendly and down to earth, always ready with answers. No question was too silly, and no detail was overlooked. Whether it was crab trapping, feeding the pelicans, or exploring the oyster farm, they guided us with lots of local knowledge. The scenery was gorgeous, and the whole experience was engaging from start to finish.
If you are after something memorable where you learn, laugh, catch crustaceans, and enjoy a cracking day on the Tweed River, this is it. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Crabs were prepared and served to a high standard . Definitely recommend to families we had young children and they had a blast

I recently had the absolute pleasure of going on the Catch a Crab and Fishes tour on the Gold Coast, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time!
From the moment we arrived at the tour's starting point, we were greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their enthusiasm was contagious! They took time to explain everything about the tour, including safety procedures and what we could expect during our time on the water. It was evident that they were passionate about marine life and crabbing, which set a positive tone for the entire day.
The tour began with a scenic cruise through the beautiful waters of the Gold Coast. The views were stunning, with lush mangroves and wildlife all around us. I truly appreciated the opportunity to soak in the natural beauty while learning about the ecosystem. Our guide shared fascinating insights into the local wildlife, discussing the various species that inhabit the area and the importance of sustainable practices in fishing and crabbing.
Once we arrived at the crabbing grounds, the excitement was palpable! We were divided into small groups, each equipped with crab traps and all the necessary gear. The staff provided us with tips on how to set the traps effectively. It was thrilling to wait and see what we might catch. To our delight, we managed to catch several large crabs, which felt like a huge achievement. The thrill of reeling in a big one was an experience I'll never forget!
Another highlight of the tour was fishing in the local waters. Each participant had the opportunity to try their hand at catching fish. The crew was incredibly helpful, providing bait and instructions for those of us who may not have much experience with fishing. I ended up catching a nice-sized bream, which was exhilarating! It felt fantastic to connect with nature and learn new skills in such a beautiful setting.
Throughout the trip, we were offered plenty of refreshments, including delicious snacks and drinks. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, encouraging camaraderie among the participants. I loved chatting with fellow guests and sharing stories of our catches.
As the day progressed, the crew demonstrated how to cook and prepare the crabs we had caught. They even engaged us in a little taste-testing session, which was absolutely delicious! Savoring the fruits of our labor after a day of crabbing and fishing made the experience even more satisfying.
One of the aspects I appreciated the most was the emphasis on sustainability. The crew talked about responsible fishing practices and the importance of preserving marine life for future generations. It was refreshing to see a company that genuinely cares about the environment.
Overall, the Gold Coast Catch a Crab and Fishes tour exceeded all my expectations. It was a perfect mix of adventure, education, and relaxation. The staff were fantastic, the scenery was breathtaking, and the memories we made will last a lifetime. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun day out on the water! Whether you're a seasoned fisherman or a complete novice, you won't regret this wonderful experience. Can’t wait to come back for another round!
The tour experience was fantastic not just due to the activities, but also the staff on board. The skipper (David) was humorous and very knowledgeable. Yannika was so kind and caring towards us all, but provided such a nurturing approach to my children who she helped throughout all the activities.
We all had the best time and are so glad to have ended our Gold Coast holiday with this experience. Thanks to David, Yannika and Craig for making my dad’s birthday a memorable one!
Looking forward to going again.
Super fun and will definitely recommend to friends and family. Get the silly hat!
We can catch crab, yabbies and fish.
Learn many things about oysters, crabs etc.
Another note is, if you afraid of motion sickness, the boat is running on river that has no wave, I am a bit sensitive with motion, but felt nothing while I was on board.
They’re very friendly and very knowledgeable and great people in general.
Learnt a lot about Mud Crabs Oysters and other marine species in the Tweed River.
Highly recommended for anyone after a fun day out with family and kids food was amazing as well after the trip out on the boat.
Very knowledgeable and helpful learnt a lot about Mud Crabs and Oysters and Other Marine Species In the Tweed River.
Highly recommended for family trip holiday and finish it off with a delicious seafood meal with mud crabs and oysters.
Food was delicious!!! ????
It was a great time for the young children.
If your an experienced fisher man or women, I wouldn't recommend.
Expect to see alot of people from different countries aboard. Which can be a great laugh. The crew were very funny and welcoming.
We started with a small cruise around and feeding the seagulls and one pelican who we are pretty sure ate one of the seagulls
Then pulled up some crab nets.
Pumping for yabbies was a really good laugh, and a bit of hard work. Expect to get a little muddy and wet.
Fishing is done on some cheap rods and only have enough line to drop down into crystal clear waters. A few of us onboard caught a few brim.
It's an adventure im glad I done with the family but it would only be a once off visit.
We do these sort of activities in other countries but never appreciate what we have here!
The lunch package was good.. to come out and get a feed straight away..
I would really recommend this activity even for couples to spend some quality time! It’s a team work!!
We enrolled the Catch a Crab Tour for my parents and my kids . As my parents wanted a-la-carte menu of the Oyster Shed Restaurant we booked a table online well beforehand.
The tour was ok .
Back to the restaurant issue, we finished the tour and arrived in the restaurant around 12:45 with a booking. The staff were busy to serve the pre-booked seafood platter and we had to wait for more then 40 mins for the first dish to come! It’s onion rings ! My kids were starving so I asked if we can pay what we got and move on but they kept saying they have only one chef and was preparing ours so it was a NO !
The lady even blamed us that we should have pre-ordered the food online but I told them an hour wait was unacceptable!
At the end of my story, we ordered 4 dishes but only 3 dishes arrived after an hour wait 1:35pm.
From what we observed, other a la carte table got food earlier than us even we ordered earlier but still no apologies from any of their unfriendly bad mannered staff!!!!!
We, with elderly and children, left with furious feelings and half emptied stomach!!!!
The most terrible thing is that I have to request the reception lady ( with my poor mum) to get the ordered food in front of other dinners few times !
Very unpleasant experience seriously!
Totally terrible that you won’t experience that in your life! It absolutely ruined our day!!!
