An Unforgettable Experience – The Highlight of Our Tasmania Trip This was truly the trip of a lifetime and the absolute highlight of our 16 day tour of Tasmania. Lily was an exceptional pilot, bringing us incredibly close to nature — I felt like I was actually *inside* a David Attenborough documentary! We witnessed seals, dolphins, cormorants, albatrosses, and many other seabirds whose names I can't even recall.

The scenery was stunning but for me the animals were the real stars of the show! The most unforgettable part was watching all these animals interact in their natural environment as they hunted for food — scenes I’ll never forget. Kieran and Lily’s commentary was both informative and genuinely entertaining. For a moment, they even had me believing that cormorants were penguins!

The tour was expertly organised, and the entire experience far exceeded our expectations. We would return to Tasmania just to go on another adventure with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys.

Excellent team We had the Pennitcott team pick us up after our Three Capes walk. They shuttled us back to Port Arthur to retrieve our belongings and then into Hobart.
We had Josh (Clancy) as our driver, and he was extremely pleasant and friendly, answering all our questions. The hour+ drive it took to get back to Hobart felt like its own tour and certainly rounded off the incredible experience the Three Capes was.

Pennecott's Tasman Island Cruise ,a must-do if you're visiting Hobart. We've done 3 Pennecott's Wilderness trips. This one was also excellent.
Phil, the Coach Captain, drove us from Hobart to the Peninsula, it was educational and entertaining. Phil's driving was excellent.
The boat crew, Lilly and Kieran, took us on an exciting three hour ride around Tasmania's spectacular southern coastline where we got close up and personal with feeding dolphins and seabirds as well as seals relaxing along the imposing cliffs. The three hours passed very quickly. Lilly's boat handling skills were top notch and she, along with Kieran, both gave us a running commentary about the history, rock formations and wildlife in the area.
Morning tea and lunch were also provided and Phil took the passengers to various points of interest after the cruise and then back to Hobart.
It was a long day but a must-do if you're visiting Hobart.
Pennecott Wilderness Journeys has become an icon of the Tasmanian tourist industry over the past ten years. It's an exceptionally well run business staffed by knowledgeable and enthusiastic people who obviously love their jobs. You can' go wrong with any of the Pennecott cruises.

Awesome tour We had an awesome experience on this afternoon boat tour — about 3 hours on the water and such a fun way to explore the area. The staff were fantastic — super fun and engaging, but also very professional and focused on safety, which we really appreciated.

They even handed out anti-nausea medication and water before we set off, which was a thoughtful touch. The whole operation — from the check-in process to the bus ride back at the end — was run like a well-oiled machine. Everything was organized and seamless.

We also loved that the captain made sure to turn the boat at every scenic spot so everyone on board had a chance to get great photos — such a small detail that made a big difference.

Highly recommend this tour — a really memorable and well-run experience on the water.

Iron Pot Lighthouse Cruise We arranged to go on the Iron Pot Lighthouse Cruise (a 2.5 hour coastal cruise) around the Derwent River, taking in the local landscape (including wildlife, Betsy Island & the Iron Pot Lighthouse). Tom (our skipper) was an excellent ambassador for both his company and Tasmania, he was very knowledgeable and very personable. The trip was a mix of historical knowledge and adventure. I think that the tour would appeal to anyone seeking a high level of both. This was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon on the water.

My daughter and I dud the Bruny Island traveller tour and loved every second of it. Kieran our guide was absolutely brilliant. Safe, efficient, informative and most of all funny... Can't recommend it highly enough.

We booked the full day Hobart to Bruny Island wilderness tour 2 adults and 2 kids aged two and the other nine months old. Everyone had a great time! The Pennicott team were amazing, very helpful. The tours are incredibly well organised and the food included was delicious. This was the main reason we travelled to Tasmania, it was dedinitely worth it.

Spent a beautiful day on Bruny Island. Our guide Ben was incredibly kind and knowledgeable! He made sure we were all comfortable.

The cruise and seeing all the wildlife was truly an unforgettable experience. I thought first it was a little pricey but honestly worth every cent!!

We did two different tours with these guys and both were absolutely amazing!!! We got to see some incredible wildlife on the Tasman Island Cruise and the team were incredible. Our major highlight was thanks to none other than Dan who took us on our Bruny Island Bus Tour. He has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the area and made the trip an absolute blast! I can’t recommend these tours enough, it would have to be one of the most memorable experiences from our 3 week holiday.

If you are in Tasmania this is the thing which you cannot afford to miss. This just can’t be explained. It’s a one hour drive from Hobart. From there they take you in speed boats carrying 30 people. We were lucky to go on a sunny day and believe me it’s an awesome experience. We went for a 3 hour afternoon pack.
We saw amazing caves and seals and the best was Dolphins swimming next to our boats. The ocean waves at times gave us some goosebumps but it’s worth.
JUST GO FOR IT.

Amazing tour Had a fantastic day on the Bruny Island cruise. Check in was friendly and efficient. We had the amazing and multitalented guide Zoe. She has a bubbly personality, is friendly, kind, caring and a genuinely beautiful young lady. Is is clear she loves what she does. We were so impressed with the fact that she not only drove our bus but was the deck hand on the boat and was also very knowledgeable in regard Tasmania and Bruny Island. (She also surfs and dives). I witnessed Zoe caring for a young lady on the boat who was not feeling well and her care, compassion and concern was outstanding, as a medical professional I was very impressed. The skipper Jamie was also amazing, despite his dad jokes, he gave us a very safe but amazing tour of the spectacular and rugged coastline.
Our morning tea and lunch was also yum, again friendly staff. Would absolutely recommend Pennicott Wilderness it is a must do.

Interesting tour, great guide, long stop at Port A. Very interesting visit. Our package included the shot harbour cruise and the 45 minute basic into to the site. Lots of self guided info available. As mentioned by others the time at Port A really is too long, but we knew this and were prepared so it wasn’t an issue.

Bruney Island tour and Port Arthur bus trip. We had the pleasure of touring Bruny Island with our amazing tour guide Zoe. We were taken through the island via bus tour and was treated to some amazing scenery, wildlife, food and beer. Zoe’s passion and knowledge for the island and Tassie overall, along with the relationships Pennicott has made with the locals, is what made this day so special.
We were then taken to Port Arthur by Pinnicott’s tour guide Jordy. Whilst we did not have a tour with Jordy at Port Arthur, his knowledge and love for Tassie was still evident as he made the trip down very enjoyable with his commentary.
Whilst we only did 2 trips with Pennicott, both Zoe and Jordie made the experiences very enjoyable. We will definitely be booking another tour with them when we return to Tassie and couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

A Magical Day Following the Yellow Boat Road! A magical, exhilarating day out. My daughter and I experienced the all day Bruny Island cruise. All the staff were terrific from the staff in the Constitution Dock booking office to our Skippers Mick and Kieran. Mick really needs his own television show. What a personality. (I hope I have his name remembered correctly but he's been with the company for 21 years) Kieran was really informative and we really enjoyed his professional and friendly approach. I know a lot of people who have done this cruise and they all rave about it (even the ones who went out in rain). The complimentary Ginger tablets and Pennicott hand warmers were really appreciated. Thankfully, we didn't feel sick at all out on the Great Southern Ocean. We saw seals, sea birds, ancient cathedral like cliffs that are just awe inspiring. A magical pod of dolphins surrounded our boat but alas, I couldn't get a decent photo of them but they were so joyful to watch and had the entire boat enthralled . The morning tea and lunch were both delicious. I loved how we got to watch Kieran pick up the fresh supplies for the salad, bread rolls etc from local businesses as we drove to the marina at Kettering. I can't wait to do another cruise with this multi award winning company and totally agree that they would have to be one of the top travel experiences to do in the world. Thank you to all at Pennicott Journeys for providing us with a memorable lifetime experience.

Great eye opener Great day trip. Opens your eyes to what humans are capable of. The historic buildings and location are fabulous. Be prepared to walk to get the best of the site. Very sad but amazing experience.

Tasmanian seafood seduction - a seafood lovers dream come true. We had at fabulous day, blessed with fine weather, although windy and had to keep to the inside passage. Kate was a star captain,diver, chef, and she had a wealth of knowledge to share, she took time and great care to measure and accurately document the catch. The food was sensational and prepared and presented with great skill, we had more than you could eat and all complemented with great Tasmanian wines and cheese. Truly a trip to remember.

We had a wonderful tour with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys. They truly are the best in Tasmania and well worth the price. Our tour guide, Alan, was knowledgeable, and kept us entertained during our tour.

The only complaint I had was with one of our servers during the lunch provided, who was quite rude to me, but I will be writing Pennicott directly about that.

An Absolute Must When Visiting Hobart An unbelievable experience on Bruny Island, my second time and just as amazing as the first many years ago. Professionally run, felt very safe and the crew were entertaining and full of interesting information. I chose this company years ago because Mr Pennicott was a local and was so pleased to hear it is still a family run business. If you are visiting Hobart, don't leave without booking this trip seeing the sights of Bruny from a very fast boat.

FIVE stars is NOT ENOUGH for this tour. Seriously, this was an AMAZING experience/tour/day/adventure & though the price tag seems "expensive" we found it GREAT value & would do it all again. Admittedly, we had PERFECT weather and an excellent crew & fellow passengers but none the less, this is a priceless experience that you will not find anywhere else.
An endless tour of surprises, wine, non alcoholic drinks, food & seafood, sights and fun. Easy going, all encompassing & the VERY BEST experience of our 19 day stay in Tasmania.
We saw the salmon farm, seals, oysters, fresh & cooked in champagne, some of the seafood dived for from the boat, then prepared, cooked, displayed-rock lobster, abalone, sushi mi, urchins. Tasmanian platter of food. I tried most things, but preferred the cooked seafood delights. The beach & swim were fantastic. Take your bathers - or not!!!!! Thanks to the group we were with - they made the whole thing even better.
You will be well catered for & have lasting memories, as we do.
We did have to cancel one of the 3 tickets we had pre purchased - zero issues getting a refund, as per their policy. GO ON - JUST DO IT.

Great service and wonderful trips The service was very good, the guides gave a great commentary.
I had booked two tours with Pennicott, however I became ill, on the morning of one of the trips and could not attend. A refund was posted within days.
Also for the wineglass bay trip we were notified the day before that we may not be able to go into certain areas because of the weather and gave us the option of rescheduling if we wanted to.

Great but too long, at just short of 11 hours total The trip was great and Port Arthur itself was very interesting. However the amount of time there was a good 2 hours too long. A group of us were waiting around for the last 2+ hours for the pick up, which meant the day was not as enjoyable as it would otherwise have been.

Genuinely incredible tour! My partner and I took my nearly ninety grandmother for an amazing morning on the Tasman Peninsula. We were blown away by the giant sea cliffsand saw so much spectacular wildlife. Seals, Dolphins, Albatross all jumping out of the water putting on a show. The staff were very accommodating and made it extremely accessible for my grandma while still a hell of an adventure for us. Kane the Boat Captain was the perfect guide, could not recommend this tour enough!

Iron pot cruise Our captain Robert was so helpful & extremely knowledgeable about the area. Boat is comfortable and would highly recommend this trip.

We booked the Tasman Island, cruise and Port Arthur combination. The cruise was the highlights of the trip, and frankly, one of the better excursions on our three week tour of Australia. It was exhilarating. More than likely you will get some spray, but no one became soaked. We went on a day with 20 to 40 knot winds but they were from the east and we could shelter it by staying close to the coast.

We are a group of seniors, and we’re quite comfortable. Everybody was given spray jackets which looked more like gowns. But they kept you well protected. The crew was good and made sure everyone was secure and comfortable.

The Port Arthur portion was interesting, but aside from the significant history rather boring. Fortunately, we did not spend a lot of time there. Lunch was provided at Port Arthur and during the morning we had tea before starting the boat portion.

I highly recommend this tour.

Seals, Dolphins and Awesome Service Loved the experience! The guides were brilliant, particularly helpful when we got a little seasick! Seals were awesome to see and we saw loads of dolphins which can’t be guaranteed so that was extra fabulous. And every seal pun under the sun. They certainly got my ‘seal’ of approval!

Outstanding day out. We did the Port Arthur tour with Tasman island cruise. Our bus driver and guide, Phil was excellent. Funny, knowledgeable and very professional. On the boat, which was a 3 hour coast exploration, guides Ben(boat captain), and Katie were very friendly, highly knowledgeable, and again very professional. Every step of the tour, from the drive to morning tea, to the boat tour, provided lunch and the guided tour of Port Arthur were seamless. It was a full day, from 730am to 6pm and every minute was a pleasure. Well done. I highly recommend this tour.

Bruny island boat tour was awesome and I highly recommend. everything was well managed. Every staff works well and professional. Facilities are clean. Lunch is great. We traveled Tasmania for 3 weeks and ate fish and chips in many places but fish and chips which we ate at the lunch was the best.
I highly recommend to join their boat trip.

So impressed with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys. The Wineglass Bay cruise from Coles Bay was fantastic, such an enjoyable trip seeing the most incredible scenery.
The second a Tasman Island boat trip from Port Arthur was amazing ,the most magnificent scenery ,seeing lots of dolphins ???? and seals ????.
Both trips were very informative of the local landscape and history of the area.
Staff on both trips were excellent, so friendly,helpful and entertaining.
All highly experienced and knowledgeable.

We did the Tasman Island Wilderness Journey and it was fantastic. Could not recommend these guys more. We got given big jackets to protect us from the rain and wind and water spray. They were so knowledgeable about the rock formations and we saw heaps of dolphins, seals and birds! It was a great tour and a lovely way to see the Tasmanian Coast!

Tasman cruise and Port Arthur site tour was amazing! The staff from the get-go looked after us. The views are just spectacular! Lots of seals, albatrosses and dolphins on the cruise. (They give you tablets for motion sickness which would cost $200 around the corner as per Tim lol) Damo talked to everyone on board and answered questions thrown at him. Phil was our lovely driver who also had a great sense of humour!
After a big lunch at Port Arthur, walked the grounds. Didn't feel rushed at all. Had time to read history here and there. You can even go inside a convict prison cell and see artifacts up close.

An amazing morning! A wonderful experience! We were treated to an abundance of wildlife and amazing scenery on the Tasman Island Cruise. The dolphins and albatross showed up for us, and we also witnessed the sight of an enormous flock of migrating shearwater. The geology of the landscape is so dramatic and rugged you feel like you’re in a movie set. The tour leaders (Tim and Damo) were fantastic. They shared a wealth of knowledge and ensured everyone feel comfortable and safe on board the boat. Thank you for an amazing morning!!

We just returned from the Bruny Island Traveller tour. The day was grey with non relenting showers. Despite this, we had a wonderful experience, saw great sights, and ate lots of good food. The highlight was getting a personalized tour by the owner through the most amazing gardens at the Bruny Island Chocolat Company. To see such beauty in a remote location was not expected.
A special mention must go to our driver Allen, who was an encyclopedia of knowledge and looked after all of us in an incredible way.
Also, kudos to Pennicott Wilderness for setting a standard in caring about their guests and looking after the ecology of Tasmania.

An absolute moneys worth of a trip. The team at Pennicott were so friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing and comfortable trip. The food was yum and last but not least, Tom was an excellent guide, bus driver, boat captain (man of many talents) and a legendary comedian. Would’ve just joined to hear the jokes!

Friendly, fun and not overpriced. The tour was incredible and we were extremely lucky with the weather! Heading out into the Southern Ocean was so exciting and we saw Albatross, seals and a glimpse of a shy whale. Highly recommend this tour.

Highly recommend this tour company. We did the traveller tour to Bruny Island with Alan. The most enjoyable day. Lunch was amazing. All the other little extras included made our day. Well worth every penny. Highly recommended.

A Living Monument Of Australia's Colonial Past We arrived by bus which was an enjoyable 90 minute drive from Hobart. We didn't get any special guidance around as there were plenty of plaques to read and the entry booklet had a map etc. We were booked on the ferry at 12:20 which was a good time to go as we bought a snack and coffees on board as we listened and watched. The day evoked many feelings ranging from awe and beauty to absolute horror. These poor convicts had much to endure. The houses where administrators lived were as interesting as the convict buildings. The 4 door lock in for solitary confinement was absolutely terrifying as was the asylum. The convict chapel was a must see. Around the grounds we managed to listen to quite a few talks the rangers gave as we walked around and they were superb. I would really try to hear more of them next time. The gift shop was authentic. The little museum downstairs was really interesting. The cafe was lovely. Overall a superb experience. A must see that needs 2 days to do it justice.

Great Day Trip from Hobart Phil was the best guide ever! This was a full day and we saw the countryside from Hobart to the Port Arthur historical site. I had read that it could be cold on the cruise, so we brought our Colorado winter coats, hats, and gloves. Even with the provided "one-size-fits-none" waterproof coats, the winter wind was biting but the seals and albatrosses flying about were very beautiful,

Tasman Island and Unzoo - good times From pick up in Hobart to set down back in Hobart, it was a great day. Phil our driver was great - lovely Aussie bloke. Ange our guide on the cruise was fabulous as was our boat dude whose name I forgot ????‍♀️ both good at what they do with superb boat handling. We were fortunate with 3-4 metre swell - seat belts are not optional on this cruise.
Port Arthur Lavender Farm was beautiful for lunch. The afternoon was spent at Unzoo Devils Sanctuary. Very pleasant way to spend that time.

Highly recommended! Great sights, geology and wildlife on display. We saw seals, penguins, dolphins, birds and awesome rock formations. Good tour commentary during trip and boat was comfortable. But rug up if you're going in winter, can get abit fresh especially on the way back.

A wonderful experience and a must do when in the south of Tassie. As locals, we take for granted that we can see our amazing coastline any time but nothing is quite like the Pennicot cruise experience. Our skipper, Andrew was extremely knowledgeable and has a genuine passion for bird watching so he has a keen eye. Emma, our delightful guide, was so kind and helpful to all passengers. Our bus driver was also very friendly and informative. Overall a brilliant trip.

Alan who drove us in from Hobart was awesome, full of knowledge of all the areas and towns along the way! I’m currently visiting TAS from QLD and he gave me a load of places to visit just from his commentary. Thank you!

The cruise itself was absolutely incredible and photos just don’t do it justice, the landscape is gorgeous! Added bonus we saw seals!

Everything in this tour is well thought out, seas sickness pills for those who forgot and hand warmers for the way back, If I could rate this company 10 stars I would!

We did the day trip to Port Arthur which included a return bus journey, the eco-cruise for the Tasman Peninsula and entry into the Port Arthur Historic Site. The whole day was arranged very well and all the staff were lovely. The cruise was one of the highlights of our trip - absolutely stunning sea cliffs and lots of seals! The boat ride itself was a lot of fun.

If you do the full day trip like we did, I would suggest eating your lunch (and they give you so much of it!) fairly quickly to maximise your time at the historic site - it is a lot bigger than we thought it was!

Fun experience! Went to tasman island adventure and was worth it. Tour guide was amazing. Great cruise adventure, saw beautiful creatures amd landscapes along our cruise!

A once in a lifetime experience What an experience, the views, atmosphere and experience were astonishing. Would recommend this to anyone that appreciates nature. It is a must when visiting Tasmania. Captain Kain was a very funny guy and he contributes to make this experience enjoyable.

Stunning Views from the Bay The Iron Pot Cruise was excellent! Our skipper was Tom and he was a hoot. The length of the trip was perfect for an afternoon on the water: frequent stops on the way out to Storm Bay to give information about sights/history and allow for pictures, and then an enjoyable boat ride back to the harbor. Water & juice provided on board and the boat stayed warm despite the wind & weather. Thanks for a lovely time!

Advice to those going on this tour: Be on time for everything including returning to the bus! We had multiple people ignore the schedule which meant we only had under minimal time at some locations.
Please don’t be selfish and consider others. Also, if you get seasick, take a travel pill prior to the boat ride as can be bumpy (but fun!)

Port Arthur so interesting! Absolutely fascinating! Incredible history, Cat the tour guide was fantastic. The old buildings are beautiful as is the bay and the gardens. A great day out.

Scenic & Historical If you’re someone that’s into history, architecture or looking for ways to make the most of your Hobart visit this is for you. Its an interesting way to spend the whole day but if you don’t mind strolling then you should be good. The site is quite big and they give you a map of the whole place so if you plan your walking route properly - the day will go by just like that. We broke the tour into 2 sections so that we could do the very short ferry ride to dead mans island and back also. Then we rested for about 1-2hrs at the sites cafe for lunch (must try their hot dogs ) before we set off to finish the rest of the tour. Ps. Before our day tour at Port Arthur, our driver Stanley took us to a scenic lookout which was nice. He was friendly and energetic. Overall, a great scenic and historical tour!!!

Just do it! I took one of the most amazing boat rides over from Eaglehawk neck, around to Port Arthur.
Spectacular scenery and an all-round, great experience out on the water, up against the coastline, and even inside the odd cave.
