🦘 A Celebration of Australian Animals
From the moment you enter, you’re greeted with creatures that define the Australian landscape. Kangaroos and wallabies roam in open enclosures where you can see them up close, and the koalas—always a highlight—make for unforgettable encounters, especially in the dedicated Koala Rooftop area. For many international visitors, seeing these animals in such an intimate way is an absolute dream.
🐊 Reptiles, Birds & More
The zoo also offers thrilling encounters with some of Australia’s more formidable residents. The massive saltwater crocodile is a true showstopper, reminding visitors of the raw power of the country’s reptiles. Colorful native birds, snakes, and lizards round out the collection, each presented in habitats designed to reflect their natural environments. The variety is impressive—whether you love marsupials, reptiles, or feathered friends, there’s something here to amaze you.
🌿 Design & Atmosphere
Despite being in the middle of the city, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo feels surprisingly immersive. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed to balance visitor access with animal comfort, and the pathways wind naturally from one habitat to another. You can wander through lush greenery, step into walk-through aviaries, and enjoy encounters that feel close but respectful. It’s compact enough to explore in a few hours, yet packed with highlights that make it feel far bigger than its footprint.
👏 Staff & Experiences
The staff deserve special mention—their enthusiasm and knowledge bring the zoo to life. Keeper talks and feeding demonstrations aren’t just educational, they’re engaging and fun, helping visitors of all ages connect with the animals on a deeper level. Families with kids especially benefit from the interactive displays and hands-on learning opportunities.
✨ Why It’s Worth Visiting
What sets WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo apart is the convenience of experiencing Australia’s most famous animals all in one place, just steps away from the harbor. For tourists on a short stay, it’s an incredible opportunity to see kangaroos, koalas, wombats, and crocodiles without needing to travel into the outback. For locals, it’s a reminder of the extraordinary biodiversity that makes Australia unique.
⸻
✅ In short: WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo is beautifully designed, educational, and full of memorable encounters. With its diverse collection, friendly staff, and unbeatable location, it offers a wonderful taste of Australia’s wildlife right in the city center.
Just for tourists with little time or nothing else to do on a rainy day.
- The zoo is a bit small, with few animals but is quite clean and cool.
- If you want to interact with animals like kangaroos and koalas, you will have to pay an additional fee.
- You should buy tickets in advance through apps to get a cheaper price.
- It takes about 1 hour to visit here.
Would definitely recommend to visit here!
They have free animal talks and paid-for close-up experiences too which you can enjoy depending on your preference. They have discussed how some of them were rescued and rehabilitated which matters a lot especially in the changing climate. I do hope they maintain the proper care of their animals and give them the appropriate treatment they all deserve.
Our tour guide Brooke is excellent! You can tell how passionate she is about her role.
Breakfast was simple yet delicious.
Not sure how many people were on the tour, but it didn't feel crowded at all which was lovely.
So happy with the experience!
My advice would be to eat quickly and get the photos taken - you can go to the zoo and if it’s early enough you’re walking around alone which was really cool.
Need to pay extra to pet and take pictures with koala
There was no wait.
The good: lots of animals friendly staff. Amenities accessible. Cafe was well stocked.
The bad: not much to say here, except maybe if it’s a wet day the footpaths would be horrible as it’s dirt and gravel?
The ugly: nothing at all.
Definitely recommend the Wildlife park for visiting with young kids.
P.S. you could also feed the lions and get a photograph for a fee.
Keep up the great work team.
We weren't in a hurry, and it took about an hour and a half to go through.
It was very special to share our visit to the Zoo with a group of youth supported by Care Support (NDIS). It was heartwarming to witness the care towards disabled individuals and how the children enjoyed seeing the animals.
I'm glad we visited and got to see the Tree Kangaroo, Wombats, Koalas, Wallabies & all other creatures living in this happy space. Worth a visit if you need to be occupied or fill 1.5 - 2hrs????

The venue is well maintained, you can book online so you don’t need to line up at the front. A general entry ticket cost A$48 but check for deals on their website.
The venue has a café and you can pay for a photo with a koala.
Suggestion: get more spiders and tarantulas.
It's located in Darling Harbor, so it's a good place to stop by during your busy schedule. This is the first place where I saw a koala waking up and moving. ????
I have been to many places outside of Sydney but have never been able to find kangaroos in the wild, but I am glad I was able to see them here at this zoo????
The koalas were sleeping and were so cute❤️. They were sleeping on a tree. It is fascinating that you can take pictures with koalas if you pay for it.
The kangaroos weren't very active either, but I was able to see them jumping around a bit. I think the other thing that impressed me was the crocodiles. The crocodiles are scary and the keeping staff seems to have a hard time.
I would have liked to have seen a wallaby, but it was nice to see a hikidori as well.
The zoo was not that big, so I went around Wildlife more quickly than I expected. I probably saw everything in less than an hour. If you are not satisfied, I also recommend SEA LIFE next door!
I saw kangaroos and koalas, so I was very satisfied. Thanks a lot ✨
For me, it was definitely worth the price for the experience. The only slight negative was waiting for breakfast til 8:30. Maybe eat a light snack if you're like me and wake up early and are hungry right away.
There is a koala in a position that you can reach if you reach it.
If you pay 30 dollars, you can take a picture with a koala.
But touch is impossible.
There are not many kinds of animals, but the accessibility is so good.
There is an opportunity to feed or touch.
For me, main attraction was koala then crocodile ???? aligaltor, kangaroos ????
Oh there was wallabies and Tasmanian devil too(flexing cuz we see lot of them here in Tasmania ????)
Great to hang out with family. ????
Animals are being kept very well. All of them looks good ????
Kinda sad about the koala photos. Couldn’t hug or touch those cuties ????????
