Q&A :
Q : Does Cook Island have a beach?
A : Cook Island is a volcanic outcrop which had been awarded a marine reserve park status so no access to the Island is granted.
Q : What if I have never snorkelled before?
A : We do require experience with a snorkel mask on. Our staff are highly trained & qualified and refresh the necessary skills for snorkelling before each tour. We happily provide private Snorkel Skill Lessons if desired and suggest for beginner snorkelers to ensure more confidence & safety in the water. ( Pls call + 61 430 082 890 to enquire lessons )
Q : Do you need to be able to swim?
A : Yes, this is very IMPORTANT for both your experience and others on the boat. Our guides are there not only to keep you safe but to also show you the delights of the underwater realm of Cook Island.
Not be there to teach you how to swim.
Q : How big is the boat?
A : We take exclusive tours of only 9 snorkelers at any time to ensure you have the best experience possible! This allows a personal experience and to make sure you see the turtles.
Q : Is it possible that I will get sea sick?
A : This is dependant on the individual. If you have previously been sea sick in the past it is a possibility due to the varying conditions on the day.
Q : Will I see turtles?
A : Cook Island is home to a large variety of Green Turtles, Hawksbill Turtles and also Loggerhead Turtles. It is extremely uncommon to snorkel the Island and not encounter the turtles.
Q : Will I see a shark?
A : We have never sighted a dangerous shark at Cook Island. We do however get to see Wobbegongs & Leopard Sharks.

A huge shout‑out to our guide, Tueila, who was outstanding from start to finish. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely considerate, with just the right splash of humour to keep everyone relaxed. She made the whole group, including my son, feel completely comfortable and confident in the water. Her positive energy set the tone for a perfect start to the day.
Tueila is the best. Couldn’t recommend this experience more highly.
Everyone we met was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive from start to finish. The staff clearly care about what they do and go above and beyond to make sure you’re safe and having fun.
We’ll definitely be back – highly recommend Watersports Guru to anyone visiting Kingscliff! ️
I had my very first kayak experience and it couldn’t have been better! Our guide was absolutely the best anyone could wish for – cool, chillax, kind, respectful, and genuinely friendly. His professionalism and skill made me feel safe and comfortable from start to finish. He shared so much knowledge, guided with patience, and created such a fun, relaxed atmosphere on the water. It was clear he really knows his craft and loves what he does. I came away not only with a great adventure but also with new confidence. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone – whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, you couldn’t ask for a better guide!
My wife is a wheelchair user and accommodate all our needs.
The guided tour was fantastic, Eddie is so knowledgeable and did not tire of the many questions I hurled at him. And the young fella helping out was egar and enthusiastic! We will definitely be back for a swim with the trutles. Thank you!
Seeing the turtles was an experience of a lifetime, but also seeing lots of other incredible marine life including leopard sharks.

The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
My son mentions something most days that he experienced on the trip, even a week or two later. It’ll be something that he’ll always remember.
My husband mentioned it has been the same instructor and boat driver each trip and they’re wonderful.
The photos were gorgeous. Thank you so much for this, truly grateful!
We really appreciated the heads up. When we went to the new current was strong and they allowed us the flexibility to change to all kayaks after we tried the SUPs
Definitely recommend. We had a great time and are keen to come back in better conditions.
With a group size of 9 it was very personal and easy for everyone in the group to communicate when we saw something amazing so as to ensure everyone else in the group got to see as much as possible.
My husband who spent the whole time under water is in absolute holiday heaven and captured not only some amazing footage but also fantastic sound recordings of the whales singing the whale song.
Fantastic! Amazing! Memorable! This is a must do experience for anyone and especially people who love the water and marine life.

The online booking and email communication process was efficient and smooth.
The pre-trip communication was informative and clear.
We were welcomed and prepared in good humour and were thoroughly briefed about safety, snorkelling technique and about the trip itself.
The actual snorkelling was amazing, with so many turtles around. The bonus was that the Guru team took photos of and for us while we explored.
Overall, an awesome experience.
We loved it, thank you!
Chris and Keri, our guide, were excellent. Keri stayed in the water finding turtles and made sure everyone was ok.
Plenty of time in the water. Didn’t feel rushed at all. Only 9 in the group so had plenty of space. Not crowded at all. Thanks for a great experience.
A perfect short trip for those who don’t want to go all day. The crew looked after us the whole time.
A short 15min trip on boat and we were swimming with turtles, big bloody turtles. On the way out we saw the local dolphins..
We live in Coolangatta and had never been but we are booking it again!
I would recommend this for locals and tourists.
Good communication from Watersports Guru leading up to the day.
Amazing boat and snorkel trip, well organised and friendly staff.
Loads of time in the water. And what we saw did not disappoint. Just amazing and we we Loved every moment!
