About Grapes for Good
Grapes for Good is proof that wine can be a force for good. Every drop can go a little further and make a real difference.
Zoos SA is proud to partner with six wineries from the Langhorne Creek wine region as part of the Grapes for Good initiative.
Kimbolton Wines, Bleasdale, Bremerton, Lake Breeze, The Winehouse and Vineyard Road wineries have partnered with us to create a unique mix of wines to further support our conservation efforts with part proceeds from the sale of these wines supporting Zoos SA’s conservation mission.
If you care about animals and you love wine, there’s never been a more exciting time to visit winery partners based in Langhorne Creek to grab a bottle of limited-edition ‘Grapes for Good’ wines. On this tour you’ll journey through the Langhorne Creek region as part of the ‘Grapes for Good’ initiative. Visit Kimbolton Wines, Bleasdale, Bremerton, Lake Breeze, Vineyard Road and The Winehouse – joining forces with Zoos SA conservation mission. Wineries that you visit will showcase how they have come together to create a unique mix of wines to further support Monarto Safari Parks’ conservation efforts, with part proceeds from the sale being proof that wine can be a force for good. Every drop can go a little further and make a real difference.
Langhorne Creek Wine Region Surrounded by the ancient river red gums growing on the floodplain of the Bremer River, Langhorne Creek is South Australia’s premier red wine producing district. It is the only flood irrigated wine region in South Australia. The locals delight in sharing their stories of the Lake Doctor, a wind coming off Lake Alexandrina. This lake is a 600sq kilometre body of fresh water at the end of the Murray Darling system and is three times the size of Sydney Harbour. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a microclimate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought-after cool climate flavours. One of the smallest, compact wine regions, Langhorne Creek has avoided the hustle and bustle of its neighbouring regions, allowing you to relax and take in the character they produce in a bottle.
Monarto Safari Park You could be forgiven for thinking you’ve stepped out onto your very own African safari as you visit the biggest open-range zoo in Australia. Monarto Safari Park is home to many of Africa’s most impressive animals. On this safari tour you will witness the impressive Southern White Rhinoceros to hear the story of their distinct traits and fight for survival. Marvel at the largest herd of giraffe in Australia, Your experience today entitles you to one General Admission voucher to Monarto Safari Park. You can also enquire with us about a custom built group tour for ‘Land of the Lemurs’ blended with an ‘Grapes for Good’ afternoon in Langhorne Creek!
Kimbolton Wines (Giraffe) has architecturally designed their Cellar Door built out of repurposed shipping containers. The experience is nestled amongst the gum trees with sweeping views across the property which has been owned by the family since 1947.
‘Grapes for Good’ supporting the Giraffe / Fiano: an ancient Italian wine grape variety, well suited to the growing conditions in Langhorne Creek. Shows crisp, citrus characters with delicious fresh pear, honey hints and a rich texture on the palate. Drink now either on its own, with fresh seafood or a delicious goats cheese tart. The gentle giants of the savannah, giraffes need our help! With less than 70,000 estimated to roam their home in Africa these animals are at risk of extinction. The population decline has been referred to as a ‘Silent Extinction’. That’s why Kimbolton Wines are joining forces with Monarto Safari Park and Zoos SA to stop the silent extinction and raise funds for giraffe conservation before it’s too late.
Bleasdale Cellar Door (Zebra) experience enables a walkthrough of behind the scenes parts of their winery to see old hand-hewn red gum vats, and taste a wide range of their signature wines. A highlight of this visit is a viewing of the enormous 3.5 tonne lever basket press, famously crafted from the timber of ancient local trees in 1892.
‘Grapes for Good’ supporting the Plains Zebra / Mulberry Tree Cabernet Sauvignon: For many, the name Mulberry Tree is synonymous with Bleasdale. Named after the century-old mulberry tree in the vineyard, this is an ever reliable Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas of mixed berries, dark chocolate and violets, finishing with soft and subtle tannins. With numbers decreasing in the wild, the Plains Zebras could soon be in a ‘stripe’ of trouble. As Langhorne Creek’s founding winery with 170 years of history, Bleasdale is proudly partnering with Monarto Safari Park and Zoos SA to contribute to help save Plains Zebra from extinction.
Bremerton Cellar Door (Lemur) is a renovated horse stable built in 1866, providing a wonderful atmosphere for wine tasting. Rebecca and Lucy Willson became the first sisters to run a winery in Australia and have created an environment that not only produces the very best wine experience, but a sense of place that reflects the family’s ongoing commitment to the region. And everyone at Bremerton shares that passion.
‘Grapes for Good’ supporting the Ring-tailed Lemur / Mollie & Merle Verdelho: Verdelho is perfectly suited to this region’s climate and growing conditions. Bremerton chose to make a fresh, vibrant style expressing the pure varietal characters. Using only free run juice, results in a clean, focused Verdelho with lifted perfumed citrus aromas, a bright and textural palate with fine acid balance and great length of flavour. Cute they may be, but Ring-tailed Lemurs are in deep trouble in the wild. Classified as endangered with habitat loss and poaching the biggest threats to the wild population, Bremerton Wines is proud to support Monarto Safari Park and Zoos SA to help Ring-tailed Lemurs stay a leap ahead of extinction!
Lake Breeze Wines (Bongo) is one of Australia’s most awarded boutique wineries, achieving an extraordinary level of success in Australian wine shows. The tasting area includes a contemporary eating and function space with outstanding views of the Follett family’s vineyards and the Adelaide Hills in the distance. Lake Breeze selects only the best fruit from the older vines on the property, to create wines with amazing depth of flavour. These wines include the highly acclaimed Bernoota (shiraz/cabernet) and Arthur’s Reserve labels.
‘Grapes for Good’ supporting the Bongo / ‘Bernoota’ Shiraz/Cabernet: this blend shows dark fruit characters of blackberry and plums, with a hint of choc mint. The palate encompasses all of the trademark Langhorne Creek fruit sweetness and soft tannins. Bongo are facing ongoing population decline with less than 100 individuals estimated to be left in the wild. Lake Breeze Wines are proud to contribute sales from this classic Australian blend towards helping Monarto Safari Park and Zoos SA save this species and many others from extinction. Enjoy a bottle of ‘Bernoota’ (shiraz/cabernet) with friends, knowing you’re supporting a great cause.
The Winehouse (African Painted Dog) provides a cellar door for tastings of 5 wineries, allowing you to sample some of the finest, from Ben Potts Wines, Gipsie Jack, Kimbolton, the legendary John Glaetzer’s John’s Blend and Heartland by Ben Glaetzer. If that’s not enough, they are also home to Langhorne Creek’s first craft beer label, Meechi Brewing Company. The Winehouse is a quirky mix of old and new in a relaxed tranquil setting.
‘Grapes for Good’ supporting the African Painted Dog / Gipsie Jack Dolcetto Rosé: parcels of premium Dolcetto fruit from the Pasquin Vineyard in Langhorne Creek is the rebirth of the Gipsie Jack Rosé. Lifted aromatics of rose oil and florals, with hints of hand crafted boiled lollies and strawberries and cream. Gipsie Jack is a story of mateship, tales of helping out when times are tough and celebrating when they’re good. Pour yourself a glass knowing you’re helping our friends at Monarto Safari Park and Zoos SA protect one of the world’s most endangered mammals, the African Painted Dog.
Vineyard Road (Meerkat) is a fun and relaxed Cellar Door with exceptional service and three unique offerings under one roof. Sample award-winning wines from their extensive range, discover artisan handmade chocolates from the Fleurieu Chocolate company including white, milk, dark and ruby varieties. And pamper yourself with luxury Vasse Virgin, natural olive oil skin care products.
‘Grapes for Good’ supporting the Meerkat / Shiraz: displaying lifted aromas of spice, dark cherry and plum. The palate is rich full-flavoured forest fruits and vanilla, finishing with delicate soft tannins. It was vinified using a combination of fermentation styles and American oak. Just like a well-made Shiraz, you’ll be pressed to find someone who doesn’t love Meerkats. They’re social, full of personality and a little bit cheeky – just like the team at Vineyard Road! A reliable red to be enjoyed with your favourite partner in crime. Knowing you’re supporting Monarto Safari Park and Zoos SA’s conservation work makes it even more enjoyable.

We got to see Jupiter, Mars, shooting stars, and countless constellations through the telescope—it was truly fascinating. Huge thanks to Joe for his entertaining and insightful guidance. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and made everything so engaging.
Also, a big thank you to Kelly for the delicious hot chocolate and treats—they were the perfect addition to a magical night under the stars!
At the end of the session, I’d recommend opening the SkyView Lite app on your phone—it’s amazing to see the constellations take shape and gives you extra support for everything Joe explained.
Highly recommend this experience!
The Highlights tour was about visiting the Murray River region by road.
Kelly is a local and tour guide, who is so passionate about the area and this came across with her perfectly balanced itinerary.
My mum, sister and I had the most amazing time and highly recommend this company for any of their adventures if our trip was anything to go by.
Great work Juggle House Experiences 😊😊
Review of Small-Group River Murray Dark Sky and Sunset Tour with Dinner
Kelly was an excellent host for this night of stargazing. Joe and his fellow astronomers were informative, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate without being too technical. They were happy to chat and answer all questions.
The views through the powerful telescopes were amazing, and it helps to have some knowledge of what you are looking at.
We went over finishing time, as everyone was keen to see and learn more. I'm keen to go back in winter to see the Milky Way in its full glory.
I highly recommend this dark sky tour experience.

I highly recommend this dark sky tour experience.

I chose the Adelaide Hills Cheese and Chocolate tour, with a couple of tweaks.
Our daughter’s 30th is two days after mine and it turned into a wonderful joint celebration with thoughtful touches from Kel including a 60 and 30 balloon as well as a special chocolate treat for us both.
Once we were all aboard the Entertainer Limo, we were treated with a glass of bubbles (or water) which we enjoyed en route to our first destination at Melba’s Chocolates. Their tills ran hot with purchases before it was time to reboard the Limo to journey to our next stop at Hahndorf Hill Winery.
Our group enjoyed a paired chocolate and wine tasting experience in the ViewTube, overlooking the vineyards. Differing dietary needs of the group were catered for with a cheese platter and non alcohol option. The knowledge of Dee who looked after our group was amazing and the service was great. Beautiful ambiance as well.
Our next destination was Grünthal Brewing with Cheese Fondue by Udder Delights. With dietary needs once again satisfied every member of the group enjoyed the experience.
Beerenburg was next where we were treated to a sample of their famous strawberry icecream and sorbet, with a special surprise for the birthday girls which consisted of a totally edible miniature chocolate pot plant with flower. We also had the opportunity to purchase some of Beerenburg’s yummy jams and pickles or just browse in their new Farm Shop.
It was lucky we all saved some room for coffee and cake at The Haus!
I couldn’t fault the service and attention to detail we had at each venue.
We have travelled with Kel before and can’t wait to book another tour at sometime in the future.
Thank you Kel for a truly amazing day, when I think back I have feelings of joy and can picture everyone smiling!

Kelly, who was the Master Juggler were really taking care of us by giving out some really warm blankets and hot chocolate.

The tour then had a few stops overlooking the river, wildlife, and beautiful cliffs just before sunset. The views were incredible. We then stopped for a quick dinner at the Swan Reach Hotel. During dinner, our host Kelly, shared a fun and informative talk about what we would be seeing the rest of the evening.
We then drove a few minutes to an Aboriginal site. It was particularly interesting to me to learn that people have lived on this site for about 8,000 years. Indigenous hosts shared their knowledge of the site which gave me a real appreciation of the history of this area and all who have lived here.
Juggle House Experiences and Kelly took us to the Dark Sky site where we were me by astronomer Joe and his wife Lynn. Joe had his sophisticated telescope set up for us to view through but also shared his extensive knowledge of the skies. I saw more stars that night than I ever have before and learned a great deal from Joe. Kelly also shared hot chocolate and of, course, Milky Way bars, while we were viewing the skies.
Finally, we were driven back to where we started at the completion of the tour. This was a very fun and informative experience. I can highly recommend Juggle House Experiences and Kelly!

We started with some good bubbles and introductions. Then we headed to see the Murray River cliff faces, as the sun was setting. The lighting was beautiful. The Murray river and its cliffs were the reason for our travel to South Australia, part of looking at things we hadn't seen before. We loved seeing the Big Bend.
Dinner at the Swan Reach hotel, with a good choice meals.
A night tour of Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park with Ivy & Sam, the information they told us & their personal stories were interesting.
Onto the Dark Sky Cliff top star gazing. Joe and Lyn are passionate astronomers, very knowledgeable. Could have been a little long, Joe loved to share lots of information about the night sky with us.
Back to town around 11:30pm.
Not having to do the driving in the evening was good, you could sit back and relax and share stories with other guests from all around the world.
We would recommned this tour.

at Old Tailem town to go back in time. Being 80, so much of the displays brought back childhood memories. What a treasure this place is! A thoroughly beautiful weekend. Could recommend!!

Our host was so welcoming and very knowledgeable. We discovered so much of the region's history, whilst tempting our taste buds at the same time.
Highly recommended

Growing up in the area, we have previously travelled to some of the places visited.
It was fantastic to see it from a new perspective, to learn more about the region whilst travelling in comfort of the entertainer limo.
Kel gave informative commentary in a fun & engaging way. We had stops along the way to stretch our legs & enjoy the views.
You can't beat a good pub meal & Swan Reach Hotel definitely delivered. I can also recommend the special Dark Sky's gin.
It was then onto Ngaut Ngaut conservation park where Izzy & Sam welcomed us to a beautiful stretch of the Murray River, sharing educational stories under the cliffs.
Our final stop to view the night sky under the amazing & knowledgeable guidance of Joe. This is something you just need to experience.
Thanks Kel for a memorable night. Highly recommended.

I got to see the rings of Saturn and Jupiter and two of its moons.
Unfortunately, clouds did obstruct our view of the stars but during the times we were able to view them, they were pretty spectacular.
I certainly learnt a lot about dark skies and how important it is to protect areas where darkness prevails. I thoroughly enjoyed my tour.

Winery tastings at Chateau Yaldara & Keis Winery great! Lunch at Keis very yummy and Maggie Beer Shop amazing.
Loved the entire day & highly recommend to all.

Thank you to Mardi at Juggle House for an unforgettable experience!

Then we went to the observation point and we hit the jackpot on a crystal clear night, looking through the powerful telescope at various targets, including Saturn, with expert commentary and information provided by the astronomers.
Great tour, highly recommended.
A huge thank you to Kelly for putting together this fantastic and well run tour.

Great service.
Excellent dinner menu.
Kellie has thought of everything.
Nothing to much trouble.
