Important Tour Information
- Dietary Requirements: We do our absolute best to advise partner venues of any medical food allergies or dietary requirements. However, as tastings are provided by third-party venues, we cannot guarantee all restrictions can be met. Food and wine tastings may contain traces of allergens.
- Group Bookings: This shared day tour is not suitable for hens or bucks groups unless you are booking the entire tour vehicle for your private group.
- Complimentary Local Pickups: We offer convenient pickup and return within 10km of the Hunter Valley Gardens (including Pokolbin, Lovedale, Cessnock, Nulkaba, and Rothbury). We do not pick up directly from Mount View or Pokolbin Mountain accommodations, but can meet you at an agreed location at the base.
- Alternative Transfers: Transfers to and from Newcastle, Maitland, Singleton, and surrounding areas are available for an additional charge.
- What to Wear: Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for a shared vehicle and appropriate for the day’s weather. Closed-in footwear is strongly recommended for safety on uneven, wet, or dusty ground.

Thank you for booking your wine, cheese and chocolate tasting tour with Hunter Valley Tours (HV Tours). We’re looking forward to showing you a fun and relaxed day exploring the Hunter Valley vineyards.
You will be contacted the evening before your tour via text or email with your confirmed pickup time.
Please note, pickup times are generally between 9:00am and 9:50am.
We pick up from most hotel and motel reception or main entrance areas (not individual rooms, cabins, or villas).
Please ensure your pickup location is within Pokolbin, Cessnock, Rothbury or Lovedale. We do not provide standard pickups from Sydney hotels or resorts. We also do not collect you from Pokolbin Mountain or Mt View Mountain accommodations; we will meet with you at the bottom or at the Hunter Valley Gardens bus stop area.
If your pickup is outside our 12km free pickup zone, additional surcharges apply.

Tour Information
Each tour has a specific route to follow with venues pre-selected and paid for. Checking the description of the tour before you book is important as changes are not permitted unless the consent of the driver/guide on the day and notification to the venues prebooked. Venues cannot be changed. The tasting food and wines cannot be changed. We will ask the venues to cater for medical dietary needs as best we/they can.
You will be contacted before your tour, often the day/night before, with your pickup time and location to meet the tour bus.
Your tour pickup will usually be between 9:00am and 9:50am for full day tours. We will ask you to wait for the tour bus in a specific location, this is for the ease of pickup, and you may be able to have the tour bus return you to the door of your accommodation after the tour. If you have chosen an accommodation with a long driveway or on a rural property, we do not enter the private property and will only pick you up from the front gate of the property or a nearby main crossroad. *It is wise to drive down to the gate to wait out of the weather.
There are other people to pick up on a shared tour. We would like you to be ready to board the bus when it arrives.
HV Tours has a 10km pickup zone from Central Pokolbin to your accommodation. If you are outside this zone, you will be required to pay an additional pickup fee which will be outlined on your booking page; Cessnock, Nulkaba and Rothbury are complimentary. This fee is for your pickup and return to your accommodation. If you do not wish to pay this pickup fee, you are welcome to meet the tour bus and group at a central Pokolbin location such as the Hunter Valley Gardens or Roche Estate, or meet the tour at the first cellar door at 10:00am.
We do not drive on Mt View or Pokolbin Mountain roads as these roads can be poorly maintained and can be dangerous for passenger vehicles. We will happily meet you at an agreed location down from the mountain.
Tasting fees are included in the tour.
Tasting samples of food are included in your wine tastings and are dependent on the venue on the day.
Spirits tastings at Small Mouth Vodka or The Garden Cellars are included.
The lunch menu may include a surcharge on certain dishes. If you select a dish with a surcharge, you must pay this before you leave the restaurant. If you do not pay this surcharge, HVT will pause the group tour schedule to return to the restaurant for you to pay.
We will ask the venues to cater for medical dietary needs as best we/they can. It is important to also undertake your own research and be aware of what you choose to consume; if in doubt, please do not consume the foods/wines.
Dress Code on the Day
Clothing: Please wear clothing suitable for sharing a common space in the tour vehicle with other people and appropriate for the weather on the day. Tours are conducted in all weather.
Footwear: Please wear closed-in footwear. You could possibly be walking on uneven, wet, or dusty ground, and for safety reasons, we strongly encourage and recommend closed-in footwear.
Drinking of Alcohol Inside the Tour Bus
Drinking of alcohol inside the tour bus is prohibited. This includes any alcoholic drinks you may purchase whilst on tour with us. We do not allow eskies or any open vessels of alcohol onboard the tour bus. If you breach this and are found consuming or with an open vessel of alcohol in the tour bus, we have the right to ask you to leave the tour immediately and no refund will be given. HV Tours does not have a ‘party bus’ accreditation or insurance.
Group Restrictions
All shared day tours are not suitable for hens or bucks groups unless you are booking the whole tour bus out for just your group.
Seat Belts
Seat belts must be worn at all times.
