A Grand Day Out in Bowral – Retford Park House & Garden + Beekeeping Experience with Morning Tea at Bowral Honey Farm. Step into the elegance and charm of Bowral’s most iconic estate with this all-inclusive day tour designed for community groups, garden lovers, and senior travellers. Begin your experience with a private group visit to the magnificent Retford Park House and Garden, one of the most treasured heritage properties in regional NSW. Nestled within expansive formal gardens, the Italianate-style mansion offers a glimpse into the life and legacy of James Fairfax AC. Guests will enjoy a guided tour of the historic home, with time afterwards to stroll at their own pace through the beautifully maintained grounds and ornamental plantings.
From there, it’s just a short stroll or coach transfer across the estate to Bowral Honey Farm, a working apiary set beside a tranquil lake on the same property. Guests will don a beekeeper’s veil and enjoy a fascinating guided introduction to the world of bees—learning about colony life, pollination, and honey production from an experienced local beekeeper. The visit includes a relaxed morning tea on the terrace, featuring fresh sourdough with seasonal honey, tea and coffee, along with a guided honey tasting that explores the unique flavours and floral origins of several varieties of raw local honey.
This gentle-paced, nature-rich tour is perfect for Probus Clubs, U3A groups, garden societies, and seniors seeking a culturally engaging day in the Southern Highlands. With both venues located within the grounds of Retford Park, this tour offers a seamless and inspiring day out surrounded by history, nature, and local flavour.
