With an experienced beekeeper, you’ll interact with active hives, learn about bee behaviour and get your photo taken holding a frame of bees. Get an insight into the life of the bees, the extraction of honey and other bee products.
You’ll begin the tour by suiting up in a 3-layer vented beesuit and gloves, then head out to the hives. The beekeeper will show you how to open a hive, and explain when and why we use a smoker. Take a frame out the hive and get an insight into the life of the bees, the extraction of honey and other bee products.
Finish with a tour of the extraction facility and tasting of our rare honey.
Closed footwear is essential. Please note that all beekeeping experiences are weather dependent so please leave your phone number so that we can contact you if your experience needs to be postponed or cancelled.

My husband and I were not disappointed. It was packed extremely well and arrived within a few days from ordering.
The taste is divine and reminds us of our childhoods when we ate honey straight from the comb.
Later this year, I intend to purchase more for overseas friends and relatives.
Amazing tour experience. Christelle is very knowledgeable and was very kind to answer all our questions.
The Cup Gum and Sahara are similar to each other, and very nice. I tried the Eucalyptus Remota and Yucca, and they are both good, with more bold, stronger flavors, and of the two I prefer the Yucca.
I’d love if you could make candles again! I loved all the shapes and designs. Maybe some big scented ones for rooms would be grand.
I bought this honey as I’m a small non commercial beekeeper and wanted to show support and love for an area devastated by fire but I feel I got the better end of the bargain 💛
It has the most amazing favour, lovingly presented, arrived packaged beautifully too. Plus a sweet little surprise was added to my order!
Had to add a photo of my own honey 😉

This wasn’t just a honey tasting or a quick tour. With Peter, we got a full-blown history lesson, science class, and cultural experience all wrapped into one. He walked us through the fascinating story of how Ligurian bees—originally from Italy—were brought to Kangaroo Island in the 1880s and how the island was later declared a bee sanctuary, making it the last pure strain of these gentle, industrious bees anywhere in the world.
Peter’s passion for his craft is contagious. With every word, you can feel how deeply he cares—not just about the bees, but about the island’s ecology, history, and future. He answered every question with clarity and a twinkle of joy, making the whole experience rich, personal, and full of heart.
And then the honey. Wow. Each one we tried was 100% made on the island, completely unique in flavor, texture, and floral influence. It’s not just honey—it’s terroir in a jar. You’re tasting Kangaroo Island itself.
Peter is a true gem, and this experience is a must-do for anyone visiting the island. Whether you’re a foodie, a nature lover, a history buff, or just someone who appreciates passionate people doing meaningful work, make sure this is on your list. 🐝🍯
