We had a lovely lunch thank you! The food was excellent, duck melt in your mouth tender and the wine stunning as always. Service was excellent and nice to be called by name!

Worth trying the Andre Cab sav. its memorable. The John Dory done simply with butter and peppercorns was just yummy. Great staff, gorgeous restaurant and cellar in parklike grounds overlooking a small lake.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a truly delightful lunch today in celebration of a dear friend’s birthday. The cuisine was nothing short of exquisite, and the service was impeccable—our waiter’s warmth and attentiveness made us feel genuinely welcome and added a memorable touch to the occasion. I’ve always loved going to Dominique Portet, and recently I shared a beautiful lunch with friends under the trees. The service was excellent as always. I’ve been waiting on surgery, so have quite a restricted diet at the moment. After chatting with our fabulous waiter, the chef adapted something on the menu to suit my needs and it was absolutely delicious! As are the non-alcoholic spritzers. Thank you so much. It really made it a special day for me.

We had such a lovely introduction to the wines in this estate. Barris (i hope i spelled that right) was extremely knowledgeable in the winemaking process and we learned so much. The wines (museum) were deeply flavourful, and we would definitely recommend that even though it is just 2 tastings opposed to the 5. It is definitely worth the trip and a taste.

Wine tasting was top class. You chose 5 wines to taste off their wine list. I particularly like their rose and their sparkling. But to be honest all their wines were lovely, and not too over priced.

Great food, Wine and Value Went for lunch with friends . large area to dine around the tasty counters . Very good $75 3 course lunch deal, which we ended up not having as there were other things we wanted to try. They make very good wines and the French Chef they have is turning out some nice food and good value for Melbourne. Recommend

Waited forever for the food Tried to have some lunch, ordered 40 minutes ago some oysters and a duck Terrine. No need to cook anything so don’t understand why it take that long. Was told my order is in the queue. At the need we go the food and it was tasty. I like the wine from there but lunch will be eaten somewhere else next time as it was a waste of time.

Excellent wine, beautiful location and French bistro classics. What’s not to love?

Visited recently with my grandparents who were holidaying from the UK. Had a fantastic experience and John guided us expertly through a tasting. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and made the experience our best of the day in the Yarra Valley.

Loved it! first time back in years. New menu was fantastic. Loved the duck parfait, saucisson (salami), and trout rillette- they all delivered. normally i think the starters are always the highlights but we shared the mains and they all delivered. The sauce with the baby snapper was incredible and the Entrecote (steak frites) is rightly the hero dish, was so so good. We shared Parisian gnocchi as a side, highly recommend.
Great space, staff were relaxed and engaging and did a wine tasting to choose lunch wine highlights were brut rose, chardy, sauv blanc (sancerre style), both table wine roses', cab franc (fresh med weight) and cab malbec was a great recommendation. Will 100% be back. Thanks so much DP team

Stunning location with picturesque views and very easy access from the main road. We met with a large group which was well catered for. Wines were delicious. We were treated by the history of the winery which originated in France. Absolute must to visit. Gluten free options were aplenty along with very friendly wait staff.

Lovely location to meet up with friends and family. The food is really good. We had the share plate. Some dishes can be substituted for the GF and Vegans in the group. The wines are quite nice. I’m not a big wine drinker but I really enjoyed the Pinot Noir. Nice place to go during a cold winters day.

Cellar door wine tastings are an expensive way to buy wine We live on the fringe of the Yarra Valley and on a pleasant Sunday we thought we would visit one of the wineries we had not visited before. Frankly, we are unlikely to visit it again. We paid $15 each for the privilege, a price not refundable on purchase. First we waited until the salespeople had moved the previous couple on. We were limited to a taste of six wines from their range. We were guided away from a couple of entry level wines at around $25 into the next bracket at $40+ and finally shown a $70 per bottle drop. They even had a $250 bottle at the bottom of the sheet – not for tasting. Yeah, I’m a sucker and came home with two bottles that cost me more than $100 including the 10-15 minute “tasting experience”.
Of course wineries are not all like that. Previously I went to a small family winery also in the Valley and had a great time with the people there. I came home happy with several good bottles at a fair price.

We loved stopping by Dominique Portet! The venue is beautiful and very typical French with even a game of Petanque which is very traditional in France. The wine was beautiful and the place is so pretty, it was hard not to take heaps of pictures! Definitely a must do. Thank you for having us!

This winery was very beautiful and scenic. The atmosphere of the place was peaceful and relaxed. The food tasted amazing, we all loved each item on the menu. In particular our waiter Nick was very polite and provided excellent service. He knew the food menu and wines very well and provided excellent recommendations.

I took friends for a nice little lunch and the whole experience was terrific. The food, the building, the wine, the service were all a 10/10. Special mention to Ruby for being brilliant. Probably my favourite place I’ve been in the Yarra Valley. Looking forward to going back.

Dominique Portet is right if the Maroondah hwy and still has the gorgeous French charm all in a tiny cellar door.

Weather your stopping in for a taste or some lunch or a light snack they have you covered.

Their Chardonnay and Reds are as good as they come in the Yarra valley as your would expect from their Bordeaux heritage which now stretches into their ninth generation of winemaking in the family.

Simply put their Chardonnay 2017 is one of the best pickups in the entire Valley.

Best day ever! Had Mum's 80th birthday there today, and everything was excellent! Service was so accommodating of the 4 vegans/ vegos in our group of twelve and all the food was amazing! And so much food! No one could finish the lot, and there were a few hungry blokes in the group.
The birthday cake my sister brought had an accident getting out of the car and went splat, so the the staff put the candles in a tiny cake and some mousse, and came and sang with us!
Didn't feel rushed ever and everyone was happy.
Highly recommend, beautiful venue, food and staff...

It’s always a joy to stop in to this winery for a tasting and to stock up on some quality wine.

The rosé is always a highlight for us, French Style, dry and the colour always reminds me of a sunset with all the fruit grown in the Yarra Valley.

The restaurant looks amazing, but I haven’t eaten there… yet!

Amazing experience, we opted for the private tasting and tour. Really enjoyed seeing behind the scenes and the wines were delicious. Make sure you sample the Andre, absolutely delicious. We took a few home, and you will too.

Lovely winery in a beautiful setting with gorgeous surroundings. The wines are delicious, with great service and lots of info. Would recommend this place to anyone passing through the area and will be back at the first opportunity!

Upon purchasing a bottle the amount (at least one tasting) isn’t refunded against the purchase.

We both noticed that their bottle prices have increased nearly 40%.

Additionally, the staff member operating the tasting today was incredibly rude. I was shocked at how someone so young could be so condescending when seeing us come in and asking what we were here for, then upon being told for a tasting he expected us to say no to the fee.

Won’t be back.

Try before you die The most beautifully balanced meal I’ve had in my life!! I could die a happy man right now knowing I’ve had culinary perfection! Tried the single vineyard chardy which I could easily get addicted to, and the service was great!!

Lunch was fantastic. Great food, friendly efficient service and great wine. It is our go Yarra Valley lunch spot. They always have a varied menu with a french influence and we have never been disappointed for choice or quality. The lemon curd and raspberry baked Alaska dessert was unbelievably good.

Fantastic stop on our wine tour We visited here as part of a full day wine tour and this was one of the last stops. It’s a great place with fantastic views over the Yarra Valley. We had the tasting experience with a very knowledgable guy and we purchased a great bottle of Chardonnay to take away with us. Would highly recommend a visit to this spot. Beautiful

Great Light Lunch Stopped in on a Friday afternoon just for a charcuterie board and a couple of glasses of wine. My wife and myself had the Rose. Really great wine. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was absolutely lovely. At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted a glass off the Pinot Noir or the Rose. Without me asking she said I’ll get you a sample of the Pinot. The setting is beautiful. I purchased a couple bottles of wine. I’ve visited a number of times over the years and really love stopping in when I go to the Yarra Valley. I was given a free jar of French mustard also. ( I hope I don’t get anyone in trouble for this nice act.)

Disappointing and annoying Quel rip off! $10 each for the most miserly tastings. So $40 for less than the equivalent of a glass each, and one only drank sparkling, so even less for her. Bought 6 bottles - no deduction. Been there 5 times in the last 8 years, and each time the experience has deteriorated. Time to leave DP, and may be the whole Yarra Valley, to the bus tours. A bientôt pas.

Boutique producer with French flair and nice varietals representing the Yarra Valley, the Rosè is a very good wine. Recent renovations look fantastic and some serious wines on tasting. Restaurant is well regarded and the meals are full flavoured.
