Fantastic Day Exploring the Mary Valley with Joel My husband and I recently did the Mary Valley Rattler, lunch and Kenilworth with Joel’s Journeys. We had a fun and wonderful day. Joel was attentive to all our needs from start to finish. He was very knowledgeable and provided interesting commentary along the way, while also making sure everyone was having fun throughout the tour.
The one-way journey on the Mary Valley Rattler was fantastic, and watching the train turntable operation when we arrived at Amamoor was especially interesting. We did a walk along the Mary River and were very lucky to spot a Mary River turtle as this is an endangered species. Lunch was delicious, and we also really enjoyed the guided walk among the giant fig trees on the return journey.
We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to ride on a special train and learning about the Mary Valley.

Hubby and I went on the Mary Valley tour provided by Joel’s Journeys today. It included a pickup from our Motel in Noosa; a ride on the Mary Valley Rattler train which was just awesome and some exploring in Kenilworth/ Imbil and the Fig tree walk and lunch was included; Our tour guide Joel was so knowledgeable - he made it such a great day! Joel collected us from our Apartment with regular communication about how far away he was. He took us up to Australia Zoo and was chatty and friendly the whole way down from Noosa. He told us little tidbits about the local area but also gave us time to just chill and enjoy the view. Joel gave us good tips for places to see and things to do at the Zoo. He actually escorted us in to ensure we were all inside and even took a few pics of us outside the famous entrance.Once done picked us up right outside. He was easy to find at the end of the day. The shuttle bus was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Due to the fact there was only our family on board for final part of the trip he took us home on a scenic coastal drive which was really nice. Would highly recommend Joel for his professionalism and friendly banter.

High light was lunch at the most memorable restaurant known as “Pomona Village Kitchen by DAY and ICHIMI Japanese NIGHT Two of my girls went down to Noosa for a birthday celebration. Three weeks ago, Irene, Jacky and myself, visited Noosa to celebrate Irene’s birthday . Our itinerary included a day’s winery tour and wine testing with Joel’s Journey. Joel went out and beyond to ensure we were picked up on time from our hotel apartment at 8 am and later dropped off at the same place by 5pm. Joel is quiet knowledge about Noosa and his warm nature can be seen in his interaction with the locals. Joel is humble and patient. We got value for what we paid for . It was heart warming to see when we requested him to take photos of us. He did that with grace and professionalism. Meals were included which made our life stress free.

Australia Zoo travel with Joel’s Journeys Joel was a great tour guide for the ride to the Australia Zoo, was super convenient getting picked up straight from our resort and dropped off at the end of the day after a long day at the zoo. He also gave super helpful tips of when the shows would be and which side of the crocuseum to sit on to avoid the sun!

This was a transfer to and from Australian Zoo including admission. Joel was super punctual on his pickup and drop off time. Although it was a transfer, he offered complete commentary on both way out and in. He definitely has passion in his work. He offered interesting facts about his local community, activities we can explore, and most importantly how to navigate effectively within the zoo using the map of the zoo and where to get the best seat for wildlife warriors show. He is always welcoming questions and uses his best ability to answer all questions. He is a champion for caring his customers. I will definitely keep him in mind in any of my future trips to Noosa. May he be blessed for what he is doing.
At the zoo, all the staff are helpful and dont hesitate to ask for directions. The free shuttle bus is one direction but there're exception, dont hesitate to ask them before hopping on. They may accommodate your need.

A great day out which was well organised. I enjoyed my day at the zoo which lasted from around 09:30 to 16:00. Joel is a great host and knows lots about Noosa Shire. I would have booked a place on another tour if I was staying in the area for longer. Booking the entry ticket via Joel reduced the price by $10 and you also get a discount on subsequent tours which is nice. A great way to conclude my time in Noosa!

We did two tours with Joel’s Journey’s and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Joel is a friendly, knowledgeable, and relaxed guide who made us feel welcome from the start. His easygoing style and local insight really set the tone for a memorable couple of days.

The Noosa Hinterlands tour was a highlight. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and we loved visiting the charming town of Pomona and the peaceful lakeside spot at Boreen Point on Lake Cootharaba. Joel shared interesting stories and local history along the way, without ever making it feel like a lecture, just good conversation.

Our second tour was to Eumundi, where the markets were buzzing with life. We especially enjoyed the local ginger beer and learning about the area’s rich history. Joel seemed to know just where to go and gave us plenty of time to explore at our own pace.

Both tours were well-organized, comfortable, and had a personal touch that’s often missing from larger group tours. If you’re looking for a more intimate, thoughtful way to explore the Sunshine Coast, we can’t recommend Joel’s Journey’s enough.

We had a fabulous day exploring the Hinterlands. Joel has great local knowledge with lots of interesting stories to tell. The tour was a great balance between walking on the edge of stunning Lake Cootharaba, views of Hinterland mountains, wandering around the quaint town of Pomona ( great local art) to sampling delicious mead ( first time I have ever tasted mead I am sold on it!!) and local craft beer ( the beer tasting was very enjoyable even for a non beer person!!). My son (19) and daughter (21) both loved the tour. Thanks Joel again, fantastic day. Hope to see you on another tour in the future.

Our 4 week east coast Aussie trip Excellent trip with Joel today. Just 3 of us on board but it made extra special.
Joel is very knowledgeable about the area and took us to places we would not have known about. Being British it was interesting to hear some of the Australian history.
We had a great lunch at a little village called Kenilworth and then a doughnut which was huge!

Several weeks ago, I was in Noosa and wanted to do a day trip to Montville and Maleny. The lovely people at the tourist infomation place showed me what was on offer, and I picked Joel's Journeys.
Joel was courteous and informative before we were even picked up notifying us of pick from our hotel.
The day was sunny and warm. From the minute the tour started, Joel told us an enormous amount of facts about the flora and the fauna. He was able to tell us about the custodial owners of the land and their words for landmarks, animals, and wildlife.
He was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Our first stop was at a waterfall for a cup of tea or coffee.
I asked for a cup of Earle Grey with oat milk, and he had it. What a man!
Then it was onto Montville. First stop was the chocolate shop, where we all got a tasting box.
The chocolate was super yummy and none of mine made it home!!
We then had 45 minutes free time to look at Montville shops before lunch. Honestly, I could have bought every product from every store and gone back for seconds. The art was incredible. I am still salivating!
The view from the car park, looking towards the coast, was stunning. Montville shops on its own needs at least a week to do it justice!
Next was lunch. I had potato and leek soup and ginger beer. The view was delicious , a bit like the view from The Cuckoo in the Dandenong Ranges.
Lunch was delicious. The products in the shop were delicious. I found a Mary Poppins teapot.
After lunch, we walked under the tree canopy in a rainforest. Again, Joel's knowledge of wildlife was stunning. So that baby I could hear crying every night in Noosa was a bird haha!
We got pictures of the Glass House Mountains and travelled onto a winery.
Oh my goodness, the moscato was so light and fresh I will definitely be ordering some. The sommelier had the most seductive French french accent I have ever heard. I closed my eyes, and my ears were having orgasms!! His voice was like soft fingers and silk trailing across your back, neck, arms.. you get the picture. Truly, that man could have seduced anyone if you kept your eyes shut and just listened!!

Then it was time to go home after we stopped at a lookout, and Joel pointed out where all the landmarks were!
Joel was very passionate about his love of the environment and his beloved Noosa!
Joel's Journeys will now become a regular part of my Noosa holiday! There are so many great tours to go on!

Excellent experience, I recommend unreservedly! My colleague and I booked a full day excursion with Joel and were so glad we did. Joel picked us up in Brisbane and took us on a beautiful hike in Noosa National Park - he is extremely knowledgeable about the local wildlife, which really added to our experience (we spotted whales, dolphins, and several rare birds). We then did a tour of some of the local spots in Noosa (including a stop to see some wild kangaroos) and ended with a stunning sunset on Timbeerwah peak. Joel really goes above and beyond for his guests - for example, on the drive back to Brisbane I mentioned how beautiful the stars were, and Joel pulled over to get out of the van and show us the Southern Cross. A truly remarkable day that we will not forget. Thank you, Joel!

A cracker of a day with Joel! Recommended by our accommodation, Noosa Shores Resort, a morning call from Joel from Joel’s Journeys confirming our imminent pick up set the tone from this friendly tour guide. Settled into his super comfy van with great viewing windows and we set off for Old Gympie Station for our start with the Mary Valley Rattler. Atmosphere galore with character volunteers at the station and on the train and beautiful scenery in abundance.

Met by Joel at Amamoor and we were off again for a day of touring the beautiful townships and surrounds of the Mary Valley. Lots of interesting and passionate commentary, short nature walks suited to young and old, incredible lookouts and wrapped up with a delicious lunch at Kenilworth with time to sample treats (artisan cheeses, bakeries, chocolatier).
