I had a 2 hour private lesson with Daniel. I told him the specific things I wanted to improve and he was brilliant. He's patient and explains everything. He got me using Manual mode which allowed me greater flexibility / more control. There is so much to learn and 2 hours wasn't enough! I'd definitely be keen to go back and do a proper workshop. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Sydney Photographic Workshops for photography training. I recently took the Flash Photography course and found the training very informative and Daniel very approachable and knowledgable. I have now been able to implement the practical skills learned on the day into my photography and know that I will continue to improve thanks to the knowledge gained on the day. I have since booked and am awaiting eagerly, the portrait photography training!

I had a two hour private lesson to learn about my new Canon R5. Daniel was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, patient and I left feeling very excited to start taking photos. I’ll return to do more advanced courses.

I attended the Travel Photography workshop which was, in one word, fantastic. Even before the workshop began, there was great communication from Wendy and a very warm welcome upon arrival on the day. Our two expert tutors for workshop, Daniel and Ben, as well as backup staff with food and drinks, were not only friendly, respectful and thoughtful towards their clients but also towards local residents and the general public in the areas we visited. I had such an enjoyable day at the Portrait Photography Workshop with Sydney Photographic Workshops. The whole experience was incredibly well run, and the instructors were both professional and genuinely friendly. We had a great experience at the 8-week Beginners Course! My partner and I bought cameras for a big birthday and for upcoming travels, and wanted to learn how to actually use them. We can’t wait to keep learning and using our cameras.

The beginners course is a must do for anyone that is looking to do more with their camera. Not only did I learn how to use my camera more effectively, I was inspired to view the world differently. Recently attended a Vivid Photography Workshop as a beginner. Always had a love for photography. So always looking for ways to improve on my skills. Daniel was close to cancelling but so glad he didn’t as we were very lucky to be able to witness and capture clouds come over the city, once the rain stopped. The team were so helpful with advice and encouragement, made being out in the wind and rain for 3 hours totally worth it! Will definitely be back for another workshop!

I have always had an interest in learning photography, but never done anything about it , and for the last few years just relied on my iPhone to take photos. Finally, I took my first step and enrolled in the beginners course at Sydney Photographic Workshop.
I'm so glad I did. The course was fantastic -- starting with the very basics of camera functionality and building up our skills and knowledge week by week so we could use our cameras to their full capability.
By the end of the course I was happily shooting in manual mode, and taking some great photos. A particular highlight was taking photos of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge at night at the end of the field trip.
Our tutor, Glenn, is a highly skilled instructor, and his passion for photography and the history of photography really shone through.
I would totally recommend this course to anyone, and have already signed up to two other workshops!

My tutor for the 8-week course was John Janson-Moore. John holds a Doctorate in Creative Arts which speaks for itself. Most importantly though for most students, in addition to being highly academically qualified, he is extremely approachable and an exceptionally good instructor. If you get John as your tutor, you are perfectly positioned to get the most out of the 8 weeks you spend with SPW.

For my lightroom course I was indeed fortunate to be in the extremely capable hands of Daniel Linnet who is not only a master photographer but is the principal tutor and, alongside his wife Wendy, the owner of SPW. When you sit in Daniels class it becomes immediately apparent that you are being taught by someone who is highly skilled and who absolutely knows what they're talking about. Daniels classes were full of relevant and interesting tips and tricks for creating a solid system for storing work product and editing images to bring out their best. Some of my best edits have been as a result of the techniques I learnt from Daniel during this course.

What an excellent experience! After falling out of love with photography in recent times, the half day Photography Essentials workshop helped reignite my passion. Glenn was excellent and made me think of composition in a totally different light and helped me gain the confidence to shoot in manual mode. Highly recommended for those new to DSLR photography and it's also an excellent refresher.

I had a 2 hour introductory course on the set up of my camera and how it works. Daniel was a fantastic Tutor, he took his time and explained all the intricacies of getting the perfect shot and how to achieve this. At no time did I feel left behind or lost.

The Beginner's 8 week Course was great. Daniel explained the key photographic concepts in a very clear manner and patiently answered all our questions. The weekly exercises helped reinforce what we had learnt. The 3 hour field trip towards the end of the course was very instructional and gave us the perfect opportunity to try out our newly acquired knowledge. Can highly recommend it to not only people looking to get off the Auto settings on their camera but also to those that are currently using manual settings and wish to improve the quality of their photos.

My Experiences with SPW and Daniel Linnet. Over the past few years I have attended a number of courses and workshops at SPW as well as one on one sessions with Daniel. Each time I have come away with a better knowledge and understanding of my camera and lenses (all of which I purchased based on Daniel's recommendations) as well as what my camera and lenses can do and what I can do with them. I recently completed the beginners photography course. 8 weeks ago, I had a camera and only knew how to use one button. Now, I feel really confident turning my camera to manual mode and being able to get a shot that I can foresee in my mind, as opposed to clicking and hoping for the best. Daniel is a great teacher and very encouraging. To anyone considering this course, I highly recommend.

Side note: If you take on this course, do not be discouraged by the first two to three weeks of content. I never thought I was going to get my head around ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed but by about week four, it clicked for me and I'm sure it will for you too!

My partner and I had a 2 hour private tutorial with Daniel to help prepare us for our trip to the Arctic with new cameras (our first mirrorless). We would rate the experience as first class. The booking and organisation from Wendy was friendly and professional and the venue well suited.
Daniel's training was well adapted to our levels of expertise - he clearly knows a lot about photography but was able to teach that in a way which imparted that knowledge to us as novices. We can both say we learnt heaps, but we will go back for another session to round that out after a bit more practice with the cameras.
