Experience an island escape where birdlife and coastal beauty take center stage. Easily accessible from the mainland via a single bridge, Bribie Island offers diverse habitats, making it a premier spot for birdwatching and nature appreciation.
After pick-up, we travel to the shores of the Pumicestone Passage, a calm and sheltered waterway known for its rich birdlife. Here, we take a leisurely walk along the beachfront, where waders, shorebirds, and bush birds can often be seen feeding and resting. Seasonal wildflowers add colour to the landscape, while clear views across the water reveal the distant Glass House Mountains.
We continue to Kakadu Beach at Banksia Beach, a peaceful coastal park and an important roosting area for migratory shorebirds. This quiet spot is ideal for observing migratory shorebirds. You may see a wide variety of species, including stilts, oystercatchers, curlews, and sandpipers. Your guide will help identify birds and share insights into their behaviour and migration patterns. This makes the experience rewarding for both casual observers and keen birdwatchers.
Depending on the tides, we finish the tour at Buckley’s Hole Conservation Park, one of the island’s most significant natural areas. This diverse reserve includes a freshwater lagoon, woodlands, open forest, mangroves, and a quiet beach. More than 190 recorded bird species have been recorded here. It is a haven for birdlife and offers excellent opportunities for wildlife observation in a peaceful setting.
This tour is ideal for those who enjoy a slower pace, with time to observe, photograph, and appreciate the subtle details of coastal ecosystems. It offers a rewarding mix of birdwatching, scenic landscapes, and relaxed exploration on one of Queensland’s most accessible islands.

Anita has superb knowledge of the area and access to locations that you can't normally get to. The tour was tailored around our restricted walking abilities and the recent weather, which made sure we could both had a lot to look at. Which included a lot of trees, birds, fungi, mist obscured mountains, pademelons, an informative visitor's centre and two dogs that were very disappointed that we weren't staying around longer.
I did the "Bellthorpe Rainforest Tour" and it was great to see all the wildlife which is quite different from anything in Europe. If I would have had more time during my stay in Brisbane, I would without hesitation booked another tour with her!
Thank you very much for the day out in the woods :-)
Coffee and cake, then a delicious lunch completed a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day.
Maiala Rainforest. She is knowledgeable and gives plenty of opportunities to appreciate such a beautiful place! Would book her again without a second thought.
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a day trip with Brisbane Nature Tours to Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), and it was truly exceptional. Our guide Anita crafted an experience that perfectly balanced natural beauty, cultural education, and local cuisine.
The day began with a scenic ferry ride to the island, followed by our first stop at the studio of respected local Indigenous artist Delvene Cockatoo Collins. This thoughtful introduction to the island provided valuable context about the natural materials sourced from various locations and set the tone for a day of authentic experiences.
The highlights continued with the stunning Gorge Walk, where we were treated to breathtaking coastal views. One of the most magical moments was encountering kangaroos and koalas in their natural habitat - not in a zoo, but living freely in their home environment.
Brown Lake was another standout experience. Swimming in its tea tree-infused waters was both refreshing and therapeutic. Our lunch featured the local delicacy of Moreton Bay bugs, which was absolutely delicious and perfectly showcased the region's seafood.
What truly sets this tour apart is Anita's genuine passion for the region. Her deep knowledge and obvious connections with local communities ensured we were welcomed warmly wherever we went. She provided rich context about the destination that transformed what could have been just a pretty sightseeing trip into a meaningful cultural experience.
If you're looking for a day trip from Brisbane that offers natural beauty, wildlife encounters, and cultural insights, I cannot recommend Brisbane Nature Tours and Anita highly enough. This tour is the perfect way to experience the wonders of Minjerribah with a guide who truly cares about creating authentic and respectful experiences.
