Absolutely amazing tour The tour was absolutely amazing. Des was a great guide and everyone had an absolutely wonderful time.

Organizing this tour was a breeze! Suzanne was very professional and fast with all communication with our group. We had a particular tasting in mind but she was able to recommend a different wine tasting that was so much better at Vamp Lisa Mcguigan. It was obvious that Des was a local and knew the area well.

I am sure we will need another tour in the future and I'll be sure to use you and your team, and the group have all said that they will book you guys too.

Brilliant birthday day for couple Thank you for our tour on Saturday. It was an absolutely brilliant day and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Also a special mention for Peter our bus driver he was so nice to us, a great laugh and got us where we needed to be without any issues.

The places we visited had a nice mix of everything we were looking to see in the area. The day was well organised and efficient.

Disappointing My friends and I booked with Tastes of the Hunter Wine Tours (THWT) as the highlight of a hen’s weekend towards the end of May 2025. 6 of the 8 attendees live in Port Macquarie. Unfortunately, the weekend was at the end of the week in which our town (among others) was declared a natural disaster zone due to intense rainfall and flooding. The highway between here and Taree, along with the Oxley Highway through Walcha mountains, Port Macquarie airport, and Waterfall way / Dorrigo mountain were all closed by the end of the week. Further, we had been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors. We were devastated to be unable to go and hoped to obtain a credit so we could rebook. The Air BnB overrode their terms and conditions and provided a full refund, but, despite three attempts to recoup any monies at all that had not yet been paid out, THWT enforced their terms and conditions which state no refunds within 7 days of the booking. We were told that they were unable to obtain refunds of monies paid to third parties for wine tastings, bus hire and bus driver fees, or the cost of the time spent arranging the tour. It was suggested that the two people coming from Sydney go ahead on the tour (despite the bride and her mother living in Port Macquarie).
On contacting the wineries we were advised that no tasting fees had been paid for our group (and indeed these are typically paid after tours), and the two winery owners advised that in such circumstances they definitely would refund tasting fees had they been paid advance. In response to this, THWT explained that their drivers sometimes help with admin and must have marked off the tastings as paid by accident. The tasting fees were refunded at this point.
We then queried the prepayment of bus hire as there are photos online of the tour bus with the company name on it, but again we were reminded that there are no refunds within 7 days and we should have taken out domestic travel insurance. We acknowledge that legally the company has every right to keep the money, but $1145 (after the refund if $175 tasting fees) seemed unfair. We did ask one final time for a portion of that to be refunded on compassionate grounds, assuming bus hire and probably driver fees had not been paid given the facts before us, knowing that legally we had no rights and it was likely that all we really had the right to would be sharing our story, and we were told that this was blackmail and the owner would simply request the reviews be removed. So if you book a tour with this company while we are still in La Niña, make sure you take out domestic travel insurance!

His local insight added so much to the tour, from hidden gem wineries to helpful tasting tips. He even took the time to take group photos for us and made sure everyone was comfortable and having fun throughout the day.

The vehicle was spotless and comfortable, and every stop felt thoughtfully curated. We never felt rushed and got to enjoy each location at our own pace.

We can’t recommend Tastes of the Hunter Wine Tours enough!! Suzanne was very professional and helpful in creating and organising the wine tour itself, and then we were gifted 2 of the best tour guides (bus drivers) Grant & John for the day. We were celebrating a friend’s Hens party and the Hen absolutely loved the tour!! Was a great day for all and we will definitely be booking again in the future.

Nice day and good tour for the price and convenience Overall, the day tour was good - just not great. The pickup, bus driver Joe and the feel of the tour were great. The winery stops were good, but the wine tasting at Four Pines was not very polished. It was a very busy location and you could see group after group being pushed through. The Smelly Cheese and chocolate tasting stop was also not great. We were given 3 cheese samples and 6 chocolate samples to try within a 5 minute period and then free to go to the shops themselves and they/buy more. The gin distillery stop was interesting but I’m not one who can taste pure gin on its own. But, if you like gin, there are some nice flavours to try. We had a great group of people and appreciated the convenience of the tour bus and not driving. But think some of the stops could be improved.

Great Tour Worth Doing Recently spent a long weekend in the Hunter Valley and decided to try an organsied wine tour so a designated driver was not required.

The tour was excellent and Kevin our guide/bus driver was fantastic. He made the tour lots of fun and did a great job of accelerating the interactions amongst the group of strangers.

Highlights were the Hunter Valley Wine Lab and Small batch vodkas. Overall a great day and highly recommend these guys for an excellent day exploring the Hunter.

Amazing Hunter Valley wines. Well worth it. Best day ever! Lots of great wine. Bought lots! Great people. Our driver Nigel was fabulous. We even slipped in a stop at the liquor tasting. Chocolate stop to finish it off. Would highly recommend.

Great wine tour. Got picked up and dropped off at our hotel in Newcastle. Small group on mini bus. Friendly helpful driver ( thanks Joe).
Good value for money. Lunch at four pines brewery was crowded and took a while to get meal but very tasty. ( not the tours fault it was crowded it is a popular spot).
Overall a great day out with nice wines and a gin/vodka/liquor stop as well as a chocolate and cheese shop stop with some samples.

Loved the tour. Good value for money We loved this tour and enjoyed our day. It was for our friend's 35th birthday girls weekend. We went to Ernest Hill wines, Pokilbin wines and a wine tasting at 4 Pines. The server at Ernest Hill was the best. She was really informative and took alot of time to explain the wines and how they are made. Our driver Joe was just so friendly and he kept us on time without making it feel rushed. The tunes on the bus were the best part. Sorry for the loud singin! Everything is so expensive these days but the tour was very good value for money and we will definitely book again.

My partner and I had a lovely time during the tour. Our driver (Des) was excellent. Great company, knew the area well and definitely had some good local knowledge. Ran on time but was never rushed or made us feel as though we were taking too long at venues.

We were totally blessed to have Joe as our tour guide on Saturday 21/10/23. He went above and beyond to make sure our large group was safe, happy and comfortable for the entire day, nothing was too much trouble for this lovely man. Joe was fantastic and made sure we all got on and off the bus safely and kept us on a great schedule, which is no easy feat for a group of 17 party goers. We booked a full day wine tour with Taste of the Hunter Wine Tours for my sisters hens and I highly recommend!! We accidentally forgot to book lunch (we had to organise this part of the tour ourselves as we had to put down a credit card) and the venue could only fit us in an hour after our allocated time. I contacted Suzanne a few days out from the day extremely worried that we were going to have a bus full of hungry girls and she responded extremely quickly and swapped around one of our tastings so we could take the lunch spot. Our bus driver Kev was a legend as well! A couple of the girls woke up unwell and unable to get on the bus in the morning, so Kev offered to go and pick them up when there was time while the rest of us were at a winery later in the day so they wouldn't miss out!

We all had a blast on the day and are appreciative of how helpful Suzanne and Kev were! Would definitely book again!

Best Hunter Tour Ever!! Best. Day. Ever!
My twin brother and I booked this tour for our 50th, with family and close friends. From the ease of dealing with Suzanne in the office, who helped us decide on the right tour for our group, to our fabulous tour guide Grant, we can not recommend Taste of the Hunter Wine Tours highly enough. Grant made sure the day ran smoothly - and that was even with me in a moon boot and on crutches - and everyone on board had a fabulous time. We are just waiting on the next birthday to do it all over again.

Great Experience We had a wine tour last Saturday with Kevin, we had such a good time. Each venue we visited was great, there was enough time at each to taste the wines and have a look around. Kevin made sure everyone was having a good time. We appreciated being picked up and dropped off at our accommodation too - the whole day was organised and stress free.

Amazing I had my hens weekend on the 11th of feb. It was a great tour and our tour guide was very lovely. He had a great personality and make sure we were well looked after. I really enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommended this tour group.

BEST WINE TOUR! We recently booked for my sisters hens party and the wine tour and support with the day was fantastic, thanks to Suzanne coordinating it all and Kevin our wonderful bus driver! Suzanne booked everything for us taking away the stress of trying to call through to the different wineries, she always emailed back straight away! Kevin our bus driver was the sweetest man. I was personally very hungover on the Saturday and he was lovely enough to drop us off to the winery and personally go to the chemist for me to buy beroccas to help me get through they day! I cannot recommend this experience enough, definitely book if you haven’t already!

BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER If you’re looking for a tour that’s filled with good vibes and laughs, this is the one. Most of the Wineries we went to were great, but it was Grant (our HILARIOUS and accomodating tour guide) who really made the trip!!
If you’re a group of mates or Hens/Bucks, this is the one for you!!

Suzanne was amazing at organising a wonderful and beautiful hens. She gave endless suggestions to make the day the best it could be. She very informative and quick are replying to all my emails.
Our driver Jo was an absolute gentleman! He let us drink on the bus, walked us to our tables at each venue and made sure we were settled, assisted the ladies in heels getting off the bus safely and even put up with our horrible singing voices. Jo was so patient with everyone and we never felt rushed.
