Hiking Itinerary
Day One: Unicorn Falls to Camp One (9.6km)
Starting
with a side track to Unicorn Falls, hikers will explore the area’s
distinct dry sclerophyll forest, keeping an eye out for native birds as
they continue along the old Whiskey Creek logging trail. This route
transitions into a lush wet sclerophyll forest and a touch of rainforest
before reaching the awe-inspiring Hell’s Hole, for an optional swim.
The day’s journey concludes at Camp One, where hikers are greeted with
their full glamping set up, hot showers and a warm dinner.
Day Two: Camp One to Camp Two (18km)
This
challenging 18km hike ascends 600m into ancient blackbutt and
subtropical rainforests. Hikers take breaks at two stunning lookouts,
each offering breathtaking views of Wollumbin, Commissioners Creek, and
beyond. Crossing the Doon Doon saddle, guests traverse the borders
between Mount Jerusalem National Park and Nightcap National Park. After a
panoramic view from Tea Tree Lookout, the group continues up the
historic Nightcap Bluff to Camp Two. Where luxury awaits the day’s end.
Day Three: Camp Two to Weeun Weeun Camp (11.4km)
After
the previous day’s challenging hike, Day 3 is a gentler, scenic descent
through wet and dry sclerophyll forests. Following the ridgeline and
taking in views of Goonengerry National Park and Coopers Creek, hikers
reach the peaceful Weeun Weeun Camp, located near the Wanganui Gorge.
Day Four Weeun Weeun Camp to Minyon Grass (12km)
The
final stretch of the journey winds through diverse landscapes,
including scenic creek crossings and the tranquil Boggy Creek Walk,
before continuing toward Minyon. The trail meanders through lush lowland
subtropical rainforest, leading to the awe-inspiring Valley of the
Giants, where towering brush box, blackbutt, and strangler figs create a
mystical atmosphere. Here, guests can take a refreshing swim and enjoy
lunch at the base of Minyon Falls. The hike concludes around 3 PM with a
climb to Minyon Grass, where transport will be waiting to return guests
to their accommodations.

We were in Byron Bay and wanted to see some wildlife. We'd seen Kangaroos, Wombats and Koalas before, so we did the night vision walk.
The guide took us to a patch of remaining "virgin rain forest) and we saw pademelons (really cool) and walabies, a huge Capet Python hunting the Bush Rats (which are not really rats but marsupials. We saw lots of this Bush Rats as well (and they are pretty cute). Finally, we had a magnificent sighting of something on my bucketlst--a gorgeous Tawny Frogmouth. What an incredible bird.
I would strongly recommend this company and their tours. First rate
Strongly recommend for those that are looking for special encounters with Australia's unique wildlife.
Great suggestions regarding where to leave our car in Mullum.
We decided to make a change to our itinerary on the last day. I phoned Wendy & it was all sorted immediately & her communication was excellent.
Emma, our shuttle driver both ways was very personable & professional.
Thank you for making it all so easy! Will definitely recommend them.
The service could be improved by allowing extra time for the Minyon Grass section of the walk. This last section was incredible but we didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy the experience because of the pick up time.
I highly recommend the great customer service.
Mullumbimby was a great spot to leave the car as travel distance was short and its a fun town to have breakfast before and lunch after.
All these conveniences made for a smooth and fun walking adventure. Thank you!
The service was prompt and friendly, and the advice helpful.
My only criticism is that there was only just enough time for us to do the extra 6 km to the base of Minyon Falls - arguably one of the most spectacular and worthwhile portions of the hike. It would have been nice to have another half an hour to an hour to finish this section of the walk at a more leisurely pace, especially after four days on the trail.
All in all though, I definitely recommend using Vision Walks if you'd like to walk the Gijuum Gulganyi trail but you're not from the area / don't have a car.

Amazing scenery and comfortable glamping style accommodation each night.
A massive thank you to our guide Tom, whose friendly nature and obvious love of his job made the trek all the more special.
Worth every penny (cent) and a great way to spend a morning.
It was a great day and Tom was a great guide, we definately recommend.
The icing on the cake: she has invested in tree planting so that the carbon footprint of her business is a net positive to the world! And the trees help provide koalas with an enhanced habitat!
This adventure was 100% worth every penny! We couldn’t recommend Wendy and her business high enough.
We spotted koalas on eucaliptus, some kangaroos and wallabi, bats and birds. We had a very nice pic nic (also for vegan vegetarian and gluten free).
Very recommended
Thanks for the great experience and amazing pictures! You made the trip of a lifetime even better! Book today!
Our guide, Wendy, took us to all the local stops where we were able to see all sorts of Australia's wildlife.
We started off by seeing a colony of flying foxes and also stumbled upon a carpet python!
Our next stop was a boardwalk in a rainforest to see pademelons. Although we couldn't see them by eye, Wendy let us use her thermal monocular and we managed to spot them, along with a few birds by eye.
We proceeded to go see koalas in the wild, and were lucky enough to see them while they were awake and hungry.
The picnic lunch was provided by our guide, and there was a lovely selection of all sorts of foods.
We finished off the tour with some kangaroo and wallaby spotting and managed to see quite a few.
Overall, I was incredibly chuffed with this tour and will definitely book again with the same guide.
Thank you Wendy,
Lisa
So Tom put Plan B into place and drove us to another location where we ended up seeing 7 close by. We could almost reach out and touch them.
This trip was great because all efforts were made to ensure we had a great experience but at the same time mindful about the welfare of the animals. Would definitely recommend Vision Walks to anyone wanting an authentic and sympathetic tour of wildlife. Thanks to Wendy and Tom
