Embark on an Exclusive Whale Watching Adventure from the Iconic Bunda Cliffs!
Join Ancient Land Tours for an unparalleled whale-watching journey that takes you to the very edge of the Nullarbor. Departures are available from Fowlers Bay, with arrangements possible from Ceduna as well. Enhance your experience with optional whale-watching cruises and scenic flights.
Witness the Majestic Southern Right whales
Each year, Southern Right whales grace our coastline to give birth, mate, and socialize. The peak season for whale-watching is from July to September, with the first arrivals in June and their departure in early October. Early in the season, you may observe adults mating, while late July often sees mothers with their calves along the cliffs. By August, you can spot dozens of whales from the viewing platform. As the whales leave in October, calves have grown strong enough to join their mothers on the migration south.
Explore the Untouched Wilderness
Our expert local guide will reveal hidden viewing spots along our spectacular and remote coastline. The Bunda Cliffs offer unparalleled bird-watching opportunities, where coastal raptors and seasonal bustards may be spotted. On land, keep an eye out for dingos, wombats, and kangaroos.
Relax and Enjoy Nature’s Splendor
Your adventure includes lunch, morning tea, and afternoon tea, ensuring you’re well-fed and refreshed as you explore this breathtaking region.

Rarely does a company’s own description prove not only entirely true, but also an understatement in several dimensions.
Dr Steve Milner is a scientist and an outstanding guide, able to find equally interesting alternatives when nature reveals its more extreme moods.
He is a natural teacher who shares knowledge and enthusiasm with clarity and generosity, enabling visitors to truly read the landscape and the larger story shaped by water, time, and life.
Above all, he is a remarkable human being, with whom travel becomes a succession of eye‑opening moments enjoyed in genuinely good company.
The experience was exceptional: impeccably organised, masterfully managed, and attentive to every detail.
We have been travelling for decades, both for leisure and for work. This journey through the Flinders Ranges now ranks among our most memorable experiences and has left us with a strong desire to travel again with Steve.
Carlos and Jean — March 2026
We would not have been able to visit the sites/sights by ourselves. He took us to remote sites with views of the Bight which was spectacular and introduced us to birds, crustaceans, lizards, fossils and claw and paw prints in the rocks.
We felt entirely safe in his hands while driving through rugged terrain. Not only did Steve have extensive knowledge of the geology, flora, fauna of the area, he was also passionate about its indigenous and exploration history and its ecological specialness. He provided a stimulating conversation during our drives discussing scientific research, his experience of caving and the archeological richness in the Nullabor.
Steve was very considerate in maintaining a pace and itinerary which commensurate with our age. Never pushing us for time and was flexible with the schedule.
His vehicle was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The two meals provided had high quality and delicious offerings in generous helpings and there was also the bonus of hot boiling water for our beverages. Collapsible chairs, proper crockery and cutlery were provided to enable leisurely enjoyment of the view on Eyres Bluff.
Altogether a most memorable outing.
