We were blessed with calm waters and beautiful views, and before long we were surrounded by wildlife. Seeing dolphins play right alongside the boat was a true highlight, and the seals basking on the rocks were adorable. The whole tour felt relaxed yet full of adventure, and the crew went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the best possible time.
If you’re visiting Kangaroo Island, this is a must-do. It’s the perfect mix of scenery, wildlife, and genuine hospitality—an experience you’ll remember long after you’ve left the island. Highly recommended! 🐬🌊🦭
The pristine waters of Backstairs Passage and the rugged coastline seen from seaward make the two hour Ocean Safari well worthwhile, but the dolphins make it very special. Elijah and Bonnie make a great Skipper and Deckie respectively, apart from a minor 550 nautical mile navigational glitch confusing the SA mainland with Tasmania ..but we did make it back in the end.
Had such a great time and felt super lucky not just to have had the opportunity to swim with dolphins and seals but to also see a couple of whales.
We were super lucky and got to see dolphins, seals and very rare sea eagles.
Weather was cool and very windy. Beautiful coastline.
Right from the beginning at the check-in spot at the information center, they were patient, hospitable, and knowledgeable, helping us pick the right gear for the experience.
After a short bus ride to the marina, the adventure began! We spotted a pod of dolphins with calves almost immediately after leaving the dock. They came right up to the boat and followed us for a short while.
It took only about 10–15 minutes to reach the seal site, where at least 12 seals were swimming and sunbathing on the rocks. We had plenty of time to swim up close with them, taking photos and videos.
Michael did a fantastic job explaining the differences between swimming in cold water (around 15–17°C) and tropical waters. The initial plunge took our breath away, but as soon as we saw the seals, the excitement made us forget about the cold. That said, be well-prepared for the temperature!
On the short ride to the dolphin swimming site, we saw more dolphins with calves along the way. The crew was incredibly knowledgeable about marine life, the ecosystem, and sustainability, providing enthusiastic commentary that reflected their love for wildlife.
At the dolphin site, we held onto lines in the water and were towed by the boat while waiting for the dolphins to approach. Once they were within a good swimming range, we let go of the lines and swam parallel with them. What a magical encounter! We got to swim with at least two pods of dolphins!
I’ve been on many boat tours in Australia (including the Whitsundays, Cairns, and Port Douglas), and I deeply appreciate seeing an operator truly focused on wildlife experiences rather than unnecessary marketing and luxury.
The experience with Ocean Safari left me feeling wholesome, touched, and grateful. I highly recommend it and would definitely bring friends and family to do it again!
They were so supportive and patient with everyone, including our 2 kids who were quite nervous.
I will never forget this magical day. It was a dream come true.
Thank you so much!

We saw dolphins, seals, a pair of sea eagles and two wedge tailed eagles.
They were extremely knowledgeable, with a great sense of humour and maintained safety at all times.
Thanks for a great morning!
A fantastic cruise around the Penneshaw area with plenty of seals and birds, but the highlight was the dolphin encounter! We were fortunate to see a large group who put on an amazing acrobatic show! 🐬
Elijah & Bonnie were great, and the boat was very comfortable.
A wonderful experience! ✨️
The weather was perfect the staff so incredible and made the tour even more enjoyable ….we were so very close to the dolphins and the inquisitive and very playful seals.
Highly recommend this tour and your company!

However we absolutely lucked out, spotted a pod and even got to swim with seals after a jaunt down the coast! I could've stayed longer. Thanks for the fantastic experience!
We will be back as we really want to do the swim.
Guys you do a great job!
First time at kangaroo island so wasn’t too sure what activities to do, very glad we chose this one. Within the first 20 minutes we had dolphins swimming right up to us! Staff were also very friendly and great to chat to.
