I had an absolute blast on the Down Under Tours trip to Kuranda—pure magic! From the breathtaking Scenic Railway ride through lush rainforests to the Skyrail gliding over stunning gorges, every moment was a joyous adventure that left me grinning ear to ear. The friendly guides made it unforgettable, and I'll be raving about this epic day out forever! I'd just like to commend one of the bus drivers, I think his name is Marshall, I have had him twice as my driver, and both times he has wowed me with his manners and his customer service

Cape Trepidation Great day with Adrian H our driver.

Great afternoon This was very much worth seeing, the staff were quite knowledgeable and friendly, the animals appeared well cared for, and the facility was laid out very well, it felt much larger than it is, but all the areas were very easy to walk to in a short time. We saw the snake and croc attack shows, and did the lagoon boat ride.

For the most part, the drivers were knowledgeable and friendly. Was disappointed that, despite an extreme heat advisory being in place, our driver couldn’t commence running the coach some minutes earlier to our group’s pickup to start cooling down. Having been parked in the sun, it made for a stifling ride for 20 minutes before the cooling system could begin to bring the interior temperature of a fully loaded coach to a bearable level. Also tacky that driver has to drop “hints” in his tour dialogue to be sure to tip him. If you want a tip, make the best effort to make your paying customers comfortable.

Good tour of Kuranda This tour gave us a great opportunity to take the tram up to Kuranda and the scenic railway back to Cairns, but the tour was entirely self-guided. No tour guide nor food were provided.

Ski lift up historic train down….. Took the ski lift up and the train down. Beautiful rain forest with waterfalls. The village is cute, be care if you go on Sunday many things are closed or close early. Train ride back was like stepping back in time. Including no AC, bring waters.

Great day tour. Great trip even with all the rain. We enjoyed the trip and Adrian the guide was awesome. Saw crocodiles, learned more about rain forest and saw lots of nature. Ice cream was a nice touch at end of the day.

Amazing tour with a knowledgeable guide Our day trip to Daintree National Forest with Adrian Hazel was amazing! I was impressed with his passion and love for the National park. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and keen to share his love and expertise with us. The Mossman gorge and the Cape Tribulation with additional experiences of morning tea at the Mossman gorge, lunch and ice cream treat at Daintree made the day extra special. Adrian spoke for hours answering questions and giving us the history of the areas he covered during the trip. We are thrilled to give a 5 star review for our trip with him today. What is most impressive is that this company and its tour guides give back to the conservation of Daintree. This is very important to us.

Kuranda day trip The bus pick up went great. Sky rail was amazing, over the rainforest. The scenic rail was also amazing, a rail line in the rainforest.

Daintree Tour Greg was really great at informing the tour group with information that was very knowledgeable and interesting. His jokes were cheesy but it was definitely funny. I loved his sense of humor. The daintree tour was amazing especially the Cooya beach.

A great day out It was a great trip but a long day with long stints in the coach.

An all encompassing fab tour. A MUST do! We took this tour as we wanted to see as much native wildlife as possible including crocodiles. This far far exceeded our expectations. We had the phenomenal Scott as our tour guide who absolutely made this such a fantastic and memorable day, it was also his birthday so we sang to him which I overheard him say was humbling, awww.
We saw so much including crocodiles and lizards as well as learning so much about the rainforest and its inhabitants. The flora and fauna were stunning and Scott happily kept us fully entertained throughout and answered all of our questions. we travelled in what can only be described as a modified overlander type truck. The Daintree river cruise was so much fun and I think we had Craig as our tour guide, who kept us amused as well as finding baby and adult crocs. We saw everything from giant spiders to a tea plantation and had the best lunch ever and afternoon tea with cake and even locally made ice cream in generous portions.
A very well thought out trip that gave and gave.
I cannot share here just how much we did and saw and how much fun it was here, only that I fully recommend it and would love to go again soon. Well done and many thanks .

Admin not on the ball when tour cancelled I have already shared a 5 star review of the Daintree Forest trip that we took with Down Under Tours.
This review concerns administrative processes which were not acceptable.
We had booked 2 trips with DUT, and as reviewed, the first one was excellent. At the end of the day a young couple shared with us that they had received a text saying the following day's trip (Scenic Railway and Skyrail) was cancelled as the railway was not running.
We had not received any information and tried to ring DUT at 6.10pm as their voicemail message said they were open until 6.30pm. No answer. (we saw later that their website says 5pm - not consistent!)
I sent DUT a query on their website form - but as there was understandably no response that evening we had to set an early alarm and prepare to get up breakfasted and off to the meeting point as if the tour were going ahead.
Around 7am we did get a response from DUT who confirmed the trip was cancelled (obviously not their fault) but said they had no contact information for us. (we will be checking with our travel agent to see if they had indeed provided contact information when they booked it for us - and if not we'll suggest they revise their own procedures)
1. We had contacted DUT as required to confirm our tours 3 days beforehand and no one at that point checked contact information in case of needing to contact us (we had no idea they didn't have it)
2. They did know which hotel we were staying at as they had arranged an appropriate meeting point for the trips - they had not left a message at the hotel reception which would have been an obvious course of action, given that this was all last minute.
Funnily enough we did the trip under our own steam and shared a cable car with another couple who had the same experience and who said exactly the same thing - "why not confirm contact details when we are doing the confirmation telephone call 3 days beforehand?"
Hopefully DUT will take this on board and improve their administrative procedures. I've given 2 stars, not 1, as the person who eventually contacted me was apologetic in her email.
On a positive note our money has been refunded - thank you.

Adrian was a great tour guide and did a good job explaining the history and the biology of the rainforest. We got to see Mossman Gorge, Daintree rainforest and river where we saw a crocodile, and saw Cape Tribulation.

We took a tour with Down Under Tours to the Rainforest - the Mossman Gorge, a river boat along the Daintree River, an excellent lunch in a rainforest restaurant ( where miraculously rain poured down at the exact same time we were eating lunch) a stop at Cape Tribulation where Cook had to mend his boat, and a final treat of exotic icecreams.
Deniel, our guide, was courteous, enormously informative both at the stops we made and during the bus travel- and a lot of fun.
Yes it was whistle-stop, but it was a fabulous way to get a taste of this area, with a lot more information than pootling round on our own.
We both feel that if you have a limited amount of time in the Cairns area, this is well worth it.

Down under tours - Daintree Forest, cape Tribulation and river tour.
Quite honestly try one of the other tour providers or hire a car and do it yourself. Our tour guide for the day (Lindsay) although pleasant enough was pretty tightly coiled from the get go. The tour and stops were rushed to “meet schedules”the itinerary was changed at short notice during the day to accommodate the company’s production line of other tours also running in the area at the same time. All the promised visit points were covered - only in a blurr!!
The Mossman gorge walk comprised a swift march along an elevated boardwalk and onto a bouncing swing bridge with return along the same route.The footway was crowded with other passing tour groups.
The comms system on the vehicle wasn’t working properly and the guide was difficult to hear over the required air conditioning.Lindsay probably knew his stuff - but we’ll never know.
It might be a more relaxing and satisfying tour if they removed the rushed morning coffee stop and the rushed afternoon ice cream stop! and/ or took a smaller group.

I enjoyed two wonderful tours with Down Under during my time in Cairns.

Daintree and Captribulation: My driver guide Daniel was wonderful. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the areas we toured. We had many great facts and jokes to make the drive go by fast as well. I would highly recommend it.

Kuranda Skyrail and Gold Class Train Service: while I really enjoyed my time and I think Down Under does a great job of getting all the timings correct, I did not realize it was such a self guided experience. At the end of the day I did really enjoy it and I also appreciate the transport service.

We had an excellent guide and we got what we were promised.
The train ride was the best but did enjoy the walking through the wetlands and also we enjoyed the mouthwatering lunch .

Trip taken with aid of a walker. Picked up from hotel- my husbands walker placed in storage on coach.
Arrived given priority loading into gondola- transferred efficiently into next gondola and I managed transfer using the lift from gondola station to railway platform. Left husband at railway tea rooms while I explored Kurrandu. Views from gondola and train were spectacular.
Staff were excellent.

We went on the Daintree forest and river cruise with lunch, morning and afternoon tea provided.
The whole day was well organised and absolutely fantastic. Our bus guide Lindsay was amazing with a weather of knowledge and more up his sleeve. He made our day very entertaining. He made sure all travellers had their needs met including my dietary requirements.
Mick on the Daintree River cruise was fantastic, he found a few crocs on the river and was also very knowledgeable about the eco system of the river.
Highly recommend this company, please give them a go, you won't be disappointed

Fab day out in the Daintree rain forest Great trip out to Mossman Gorge, Daintree rain forest and Cape Tribulation. Full on day with various stops along the way including a crocodile boat tour. Well looked after. The food was great and Christo was a great host.

Praise for the Scenic Skyrail and Railway Day Trip by Down Under Tours We had a wonderful time on Down Under Tours' combo of the Skyrail gondolas (which we took up the mountainside for fantastic views of the rainforest canopy) and the Kuranda Scenic Railway, which returned us to the town of Cairns. There are two stops where you get off the gondola on the way up. At the first stop, we were treated to a ranger interpretive tour on a boardwalk through the canopy, and at the second stop, we had great views of Barron Falls, where Australia's first hydropower plant was built in the 1930s. The train ride was exceptional, with its many twisting turns, tunnels, its dramatic trestle, and another stop on the opposite side of Barron Falls. Included were recorded briefings on the railway's fascinating history from both the Tablelands gold rush period and a major troop muster in World War II. In Kuranda, we had lunch and toured a butterfly sanctuary - one of three wildlife sanctuaries to choose from. I highly recommend this tour!

We did the full day Daintree and Cape Tribulation tour with Adrian as our tour guide. It was a great day filled with many different experiences, sights and tastes. Adrian was very knowledgeable about Australian flora, fauna and history and provided that commentary in a very easy to digest and informative way. It would have been nice to spend more time in the rainforest but, understandably, it takes time to get from place to place. Would definitely recommend this tour, and Adrian as a guide.

Kuranda Rail great Kuranda rail and Skyrail really good. For lunch you need to go to The Crepe place which is past the information centre. Fully licensed and the food was great. Bit of a line but that moved very quickly. It was a shame when we were there a lot of the markets were shut.

Joined from Japan We are a Japanese couple who joined this tour. Since we don’t speak much English and were the only Japanese participants, we were a bit nervous at first. However, our guide Daniel and the other participants were very kind and made us feel comfortable.

Although having good English skills is definitely helpful, the free Japanese audio guide allowed us to understand the explanations without any problem.

Every part of the itinerary was amazing. We were able to fully enjoy the beauty of the Daintree’s rainforest and the ocean. It was truly a memorable experience.

Dan the man in his big van! This trip was really well organised, and Dan (our driver and guide) was excellent. He is knowledgeable, funny and also engaging. All day he kept us interested but also kept us moving place to place with precision. It was a great way to see a bit of Daintree and learn some of the history and ecology. Highly recommend!

Educative and fun! This was such a fantastic way to see so much of the Daintree and Cape Tribulation in a day and with little stress. As driver and guide Daniel was exceptional, being knowledgeable and funny throughout. Saw many crocs in their natural habitat, some feeding. We were not rushed and got time to soak it all in. Definitely worth doing!

Downunder tours Michael was an excellent tour guide polite courteous and very informative all the places we stopped for tea lunch and ice cream were very nice and friendly everything was at very relaxed pace we really enjoyed our day

Our guide Scott was very knowledgeable and gave us information throughout the day about basically everything we saw which was a treat. He was also very humorous and funny which added to the experience. The places we went were beautiful and the food we were served throughout the day was fresh and tasty (Highly recommend the barramundi for lunch). Overall would recommend this experience to everyone.

This was a FULL day tour! We were on the “big” van with Adrian H. He was full of information, facts, and least obliged to answer questions. We had 20 people in our group, and Adrian was able to connect and chat with everyone along the way. It’s evident he’s passionate about the Daintree, and by the end of the adventure, so were we.

You can see the layout of the tour in the description. There is a lot of road time in between each activity. From morning scones and tea, to the huge lunch (which has vegetarian and GF options), to the giant portions of locally sourced ice cream—you will NOT go hungry!

I do suggest bringing a hat and a bottle of water. This is a fully guided and fun-filled tour with memories I won’t soon forget. We did this and Kuranda, and to me, that was a bit too similar. I would pick one or the other.

An Australian experience Amazing experience. We got to experience the local life. We saw kangaroos, tableland, mareena, two views of the barron falls, karunda village a farm and ice creamery. The tour guide greg knew so much about everything.

A True Cairns area MUST DO Bloody awesome experience! The name of the place doesn’t do the diversity of the awesomeness justice. Sooo much more than the crocs !!!

While the Down Under bus was great (I didn’t have a car), I would spend the whole day here (I love animals though). The shows and presentations are stellar & all part of a relatively low entry fee. I would have looked for public transport (cheap bus) & spent longer there.

Trip to Daintree The tour to Daintree forest was excellent and we all had a good time. We were a group of 16 and were taken on the tour in a tour bus which was very specious.

Adrian H was our tour guide and patiently explain the history of cairns and dain tree all through the journey. He had a good sense of humour and the narrative was always engaging and kept the audience captive.

The tour started at 7:30 am until 6 pm and we had a stop at mossman, crocodile ferry, daintree beach etc. the tour bus was quote spacious and the tour package included morning tea, lunch and evening ice cream scoop.

On the whole, the tour was excellent and we would never hesitate to recommend to our friends. I should say the host Adrian H was the X factor which made the trip enjoyable.

Highly recommend these guys they are a small locally owned company.

We had two tours with them. Firstly, we did Kuranda, and it was amazingly organised. Andrew was very friendly, professional, and super knowledgeable about Cairns. He kept engaging with everyone on the bus their and back it was a lovely day.

Secondly, we went on the cruise and dive tour. We snorkelled, this was also very well organised plenty of time to snorkel, lunch was great plenty of food for everyone beautiful local produce it was a fantastic day could not fault the crew at all.

Afternoon at Hartley’s crocodile park felt a little rushed as we arrived on the bus later than planned. I had my five children including a 7week old baby so needed regular feed and change breaks that limited what tours we could join.

a visit to Gondwana Land Kuranda is a beautiful town with awe-inspiring nature and engineering feats. Skyrail amazing, butterfly museum out of this world, train loud but interesting history. Great day out by all.

Value for money and not boring at all. This is an excellent trip with Joe our guide. Joe had excellent knowledge of the terrain, history and knowledge. Joe was also very polite and helpful. The trip was well planned and the stops were good and the refreshments were good. We love the ice cream stop the best. Highly recommend if you like rainforests, rivers, crocodiles and isolated beaches. Very safe!!

A very enjoyable day Though the pickup was late because of no-shows we had a good time once we got to the skyrail. We went up to Kuranda on the skyrail. At the first stop of Red Peak we took a short free tour with Ranger Ash. He was very knowledgeable and we learnt and saw things we wouldn't have on our own.

Barron Falls was an amazing sight. At the village we went to see the Koala Gardens though we felt it was a little bit of rip-off for the price (AUD 38 with the 10% discount for 2 tickets). We wanted to have lunch at the Frogs restaurant but they had closed at 2 pm!

Ended up having lunch at a family run place with very friendly youngsters. A new place that opened in 2023. The picture of the sign is from this restaurant.

The scenic train back was everything that it promises and the on-train audio is clear and understandable.

The coach was waiting for us at the station.
A very enjoyable day that. Highly recommend this.
