In this tour you will visit one of the most secluded parts of Tasmania and one of the most beautiful places in the state. We will journey up the east coast of Tasmania to the small town of Triabunna. We will then board the Maria Island ferry and cruise across the Mercury Passage to the main settlement of Darlington. This is a non functional historic town from the convict era / industrial era of Maria Island with lots of fascinating history to discover. This town only has restroom facilities, a ranger station and push bike hire services available, besides that there are no other services or shops. You must bring your own lunch and drinks in a day pack for this tour. We will provide bottled water for your convenience. After visiting Darlington we will continue on to our day walk to your chosen part of the Island. There are two options available for day walks : North of Darlington, The Fossil Cliffs & Reservoir Tracks. The Fossil Cliffs contains views of the impressive sea cliffs, the reservoir track is a lovely walk through Maria’s lush bushlands. The other option is South of Darlington, which is a walk down to the stunning Painted Cliffs and back via the inland track. Maria Island is filled with wildlife freely walking around, you may encounter a Wombat or even a Tassie Devil. This experience will not disappoint for the nature & animal loving enthusiasts and proves to be one of the best experiences we have on offer.

Unfortunately, we got to see how helpful Kyle was when my husband fell and had to get to the hospital not once, but twice. We didn't get to complete our visit to Tasmania and missed what I'm sure would have been the highlight of the trip - Cradle Mountain. In the planning stage, Kyle arranged our itinerary according to our needs to limit hiking and anything too strenuous. If we had done the trip at younger ages, I'm sure the itinerary would have been more interesting but it was perfect for us. Bruny Island was added after the initial itinerary and was not a necessary addition. Perhaps we were limited to just going from one food place to another but it wasn't all that worthwhile. But we enjoyed those few place we did get to experience like the Wildlife Sanctuary and seeing Russell Falls.
I would definitely recommend Kyle as a guide.

While we changed our plans at the very last minute cancelling the Tahune Airwalk due to forecast weather conditions, Kyle quickly adapted and offered us options, which we truly appreciated.
Kyle's patience is commendable!! Thank you for waiting for us to do the Boat Centre and the informative talk and tour. And then, totally unplanned, calling in to Dr Sawfish.
Everything about the day was EXCELLENT! The scallop pie recommendations, the great conversation and sense of humour, the informative commentary, the roomy vehicle, the side road adventures via Mt Nelson Lookout, Wrest Point Casino and Constitution Dock drive by, all made for the most enjoyable day.
Keep up the great work Kyle and Kim at Heart of Tasmania Tours.

Kyle was a superb guide. ( Like a son to us!) As 'old' school friends travelling together, we had a fantastic foodie trip, even though the weather on Cradle mountain was not favourable while we were there. Got to see snow, though!
All in all, we had a fabulous time and loved every minute of our 8 day trip!
Kyle was very accommodating to all our needs.

Kyle's relaxed style of guiding is exceptional. No stress, no rush, just enjoyment, good conversation and knowledge sharing and fun.
Our trip ended with a visit to the Derwent Estate, definitely our favourite winery. Amazing views and Kyle's great company made this the tip of the iceberg.
Kyle goes the extra mile to make a trip super special and we cant wait to do the next trip as soon as possible.
