Following the oyster farm tour participants will be taken to a secluded beach to enjoy a white tablecloth experience with starters and a fresh seafood lunch on the water.
-Tours dependent on minimum numbers, if the river is closed for harvest oysters will be sourced from another estuary.
-Travellers need to be independently mobile to access and disembark the boat and tour sites.

The perfect day for the end of vacay! The Sydney Oyster Tours was one of our last and best days we had while visiting Australia. Bob, who was our tour guide was the best! He was extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun on the boat. As one of the only people on the tour that wasn’t really a fan of oysters I was really just going to go for the experience, but I ended up really enjoying them. I booked this experience for my wife’s birthday and was really disappointed with how it turned out. The morning of the tour was gloomy and windy, so I called to see if we could move our booking to a nicer day but was told we’d lose our $420 since it was non-refundable. We decided to go anyway — unfortunately, that was a mistake.
Once on the boat, the driver went full speed across choppy water, and waves splashed over everyone. We were completely drenched before we even arrived, and the instructor didn’t seem to notice or care. The website says you might get a bit wet, but everyone on board was soaked through, shivering, and uncomfortable.
When we finally reached the oyster area, we were given about 30 seconds of instruction on how to shuck them — barely audible over the wind. Because of that, one woman accidentally cut her hand open trying to shuck an oyster, and several people decided to skip the tasting altogether and head back to shore because they were too cold and wet to continue.
The whole experience felt rushed, poorly managed, and unsafe given the conditions. It was clear the company knew the weather wasn’t suitable but chose to go ahead anyway. For a $400+ tour, it was an awful experience that should have been postponed. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

The Sydney Oyster Tour was absolutely incredible. We did the “Immerse Yourself” package and it was the perfect mix of nature, education, and indulgence. The team were great, especially our guide Bob who was so knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole day feel really special.
Wading out into the estuary, learning about oyster farming, and shucking 36 oysters ourselves, eating prawns and sipping champagne was such a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was so well organised, and the experience would make a fantastic and unique gift. Couldn’t recommend it more.

Bought the Immerse Yourself Experience for my partner last Christmas and we finally got to experience it last week.
The boat ride out to the Oyster Farm was beautiful. The talk given out about the oysters, history and farming was truly educational and some definite 'WOW...who would have thought that' moments.
Then the ride to where the tables were ready for us with oysters and prawns. A welcome glass of champagne, a lesson on how to shuck the oysters and off you go. If you had trouble shocking them, the staff were great in coming to assist. I'm not a huge oyster fan but loved the experience. Truly recommend it. We would definitely bring interstate or overseas friends to do it.
Note...when you book and they ask for wader size and they say to if you have bigger hips or chest, get a bigger size...listen. I wrote down my normal shoe size and then just emailed them I may need bigger and they bought an extra pair along with no issue. Thanks for a great day

This has been our most disappointing experience during our time in Sydney. Firstly we received an sms saying the tour would be 15 mins late to start. That was fine but it turned out to be a lot longer than 15 mins. We took the boat to the oyster beds and the guide spoke for 10 to 15 minutes about the oysters which was interesting - however he did lose his train of thought on many occasion and there was a lot of hesitation throughout. Also fine. Then they set out tables at the oyster beds, on the boats. So chaotic and it appeared as they had no idea what they were doing. (There were three guides aboard the two boats which were moored together)
I ate one oyster and my husband ate 4 (by choice)
Here is the thing - we thought this was a tour about oysters and that the focus would be on information regarding these creatures. It is not. It is a tour with a focus on eating oysters. So besides the 15 mins of information the rest of the time was spent shucking oysters. When you don't actually eat oysters then it is a monumental waste of money. There should be a ticket price for those not wanting to partake in oyster eating and for those that want to.

We did the oyster farm tour for our work christmas activity and it was a great experience. It was nice and serene on the water, great to learn more about oysters and learned how to shuck. We went on a hot 30c day and the sun was really high when we stopped for the oyster talk. It would have been perfect if there was a shade on the boat. The oysters were handed by bags, it would have stayed fresh if they were in some ice.

This was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever encountered. Starting with the boat ride, that was such a blast, then stopping off at the Oyster Farm. We got to see all the oysters in baskets and trays and learnt about the two different types that are harvested there. After that it was onto the Immerse Yourself Experience where we donned our waders, and headed out into the water for some fine dining. We learnt how to shuck our own oysters which is more easy than it looks, and dined on them with some prawns, and drank a little champagne and gin (if you liked). If you want to do something totally different while visiting Sydney I would highly recommend this awesome tour.

So good, we did it twice! We did the in oyster tour and in water dining experience. Both sections of the tour were amazing. We stopped in the oyster leases to learn more about oyster lifecycle and farming practices. Then we went over to a beautiful setup of white linen tables in the water and enjoyed the best oysters and prawns with a glass of bubbles. Then on the way back we did a short tour of the waterway.

Mixed Experience, But Worth It for the Oysters! I went on the Sydney Oyster Farm Tour with my girlfriends on March 8th (actually it was the International Women’s Day). It was a unique and fun experience, and I plan to return, possibly with my parents, who love oysters.However, the first part of the tour was poorly organized. The boat driver (an elderly man) stopped in the middle of the river for 40 minutes to talk about oysters. Unfortunately, those of us seated at the back couldn’t hear a word, and when we asked him to speak louder, he just ignored us. It felt like a bit of a torture under the direct sun.
But once we arrived at the tables in the river, the real fun began.
We were greeted with a glass of bubbles, and the fun of learning to shuck oysters started. The tables were beautifully set with white tablecloths and plates full of fresh oysters and prawns. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, and the experience of shucking and tasting them right in the river was unforgettable!

Just excellent Absolutely Brilliant trip. Well organised and very tasty. The Guides were informative and very helpful. And a free glass of Champagne while eating Oysters and King Prawns standing knee-deep in waders. (which are supplied by the tour). No special clothing required, just make sure you visit the loo before boarding and apply Sunblock. Also remember to bring extra drinks as one glass of champagne is not enough (for me anyway). They tell you all about the history of harvesting and breeding Oysters in the Sydney area. I would definitely go again and take a friend along. Smiling faces all round. I would recommend having a waterproof jacket as the trip out and back can result in some splashing. Nobody complained about getting a bit wet in fact it added to the atmosphere.read moreread less

We had a fantastic time on the Sydney Farm Oyster Tour. If we could give it 6 stars, we absolutely would. Booking the experience was easy, the service, team and communication throughout was excellent but best of all was the experience. Not only is it a totally unique experience, the oysters and prawns were as fresh as you could get them. On top of that, my mum who also attended the trip fainted in the middle of the experience and the team did all they could to ensure that my mum was ok. We really felt looked after and cared for. For this, we are all extremely grateful. Thank you so much guys for the best time.

Unfortunately the boat that we went on was the slowest ride you could ever imagine. The way back home is torture because of how slow the boat was moving. Really lovely Lovely experience with a super informative host and very friendly team. It was such a gorgeous setting nestled in the water with fish swimming at your feet sipping a glass of French champagne. The only feedback I would have is on a super hot summer day, it would be better to serve the seafood on some ice. The oysters and prawns got really warm which was quite unappetising. We ended up putting ours into our eski with our drink ice to keep them chilled. Overall such a lovely day but would definitely have made the trip so much more enjoyable with the chilled aspect applied.read moreread less

Took my dad out for the 'Immerse Yourself' experience, along with my partner, and the 3 of us had the best time! The tour itself was really well organised and we lucked out with the sunshine, making the boat trip along the Hawkesbury River really enjoyable. The team were knowledgeable, passionate and super accomodating. When it came to the in-water dining experience, I don't think we've ever consumed so many oysters in one sitting! I was a little wary of the price for the experience, but absolutely no regrets. Value for money is an understatement. The oysters were fresh, delicious and it was all the more fun being able to shuck them yourself and actually know a thing or 2 about them. Highly recommend for a great day out and definitely bring byo beverages in an easy-to carry cooler bag, long socks, wide brim hat with a draw cord, sunscreen and water. I 100% recommend this tour! We had an absolutely fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed the operator/owner. This tour is the original. You won't be disappointed - learn about farming oysters, hold babies, put on weighters and wade out to your table to shuck oysters and eat gigantic prawns with a glass of champagne with an amazing view of the Hawkesbury River. Easiest to arrive by car with free parking. Uber may be difficult due to location - we ubered there and took the train back. Can't say enough good things about our experience!

Oyster shucking IN the Hawkesbury River Three of us spent Sunday afternoon in the Hawkesbury River during the Immerse Yourself oyster-shucking experience. The wonderful Sheridan took us to her oyster leases and explained oyster farming before we donned waders and started shucking our own oysters and prawns. A must do for all We just returned from one of the most delightful experiences that I’ve had on holiday. We listened to how oysters are formed (actually quite fascinating!) Sheridan was such a lovely, informative and accommodating tour operator. My tour was originally rescheduled due to heavy rain. Sheridan offered a private tour for my husband and I on our preferred date. As an opportunist I scouted a few friends to join us on the rescheduled date which ended up being a blast. We learnt a lot about oyster production and the challenges farmers face each season. We were also shown how to shuck oysters which was fun and delicious!! A wonderful experience Sheridan is an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide. We learned so much about the farming process, the local area, as well as her family's story. We were lucky to still be able to attend the tour after the recent floods but were able to get a better understanding of the realities of farming and the difficulties small businesses face. The oysters (harvested before the flood) were so fresh and flavourful, we have a new appreciation for how much time, effort and decision-making goes into producing one of our favourite foods. Absolutely amazing day! Sensational experience. The staff, food, oysters and weather could not of been better! Had the most amazing time, would not hesitate to go back. I went with my fiance and best friend, experience is great for both groups of friends and couples.
We took our own bottle of Champagne but a glass / bottle of prosecco is included in the experience.
Thank you for a lovely day, it was like being on holiday.

Very educational Really interesting tour and experience - Sheridan really knows her stuff and this was a fascinating insight into oyster farming, together with learning to shuck oysters and delicious tasting experience. Thoroughly recommended, though probably not with small children, the entire tour is conducted on the boat and this was probably too long and not exciting enough for smaller guests (under 10). Our teenagers who are oyster lovers really enjoyed themselves.read moreread less

Everything about this tour was perfect! We learnt so much (who knew oysters could be so fussy ?!). Sheridan was the perfect host, knowledgeable, fun and all about making the day memorable. The lunch on the beach was perfection - generous and the best seafood we’ve eaten. If you’re looking for the perfect romantic trip - this is for you! Thanks guys!

The eternal elegance oyster farm tour experience was amazing! It was a beautiful day out on the water exploring the oyster leases and learning about oyster farming. Lunch on the beach was such a special experience. We highly recommend joining Sheridan and the team on the Sydney oyster farm tours.

Great experience and people We went on this tour for our mother’s 70th and it was such a wonderful day. Both Liz and Chris and team were fantastic. The tour itself was so informative and we all know more than ever expected about pearls and the shopping experience was just beautiful Would highly recommended
