I would highly recommend a trip here if you are visiting Adelaide, and hopefully you will get the chance to meet Henry, an outstanding example of excellent customer service.
The tasting itself was a highlight, with the chance to sample Penfolds’ finest wines, including the legendary Grange and my personal favourite, Bin 707. Gigi’s guidance made the experience even more special.
And then came the lunch—the perfect finale. Delicious dishes matched beautifully with generous pours of outstanding wines.
I can’t recommend the Iconic Tour highly enough—it’s well worth every dollar. Just one word of advice: don’t plan on driving afterwards!
The wine tasting was so good, and such a great variety. The 3 course meal couldn’t have been better. The staff were incredibly friendly and great to talk to. I would highly recommend this as a must do when visiting Adelaide.
The tour is on the pricier side but fully worthwhile.
Experienced Sommelier as tour guide through tasting, cellar and grange hut is a once in a lifetime adventure.
Unfortunately this event is only available with lunch in the Magill kitchen, we would have loved a 3 hatter dinner.
However, we had a great lunch host, outstanding food and a nice pairing.
Tamara has that rare mix of professionalism and generosity that makes you feel instantly at home. She’s not just pouring wine, she’s pouring her heart into the experience. A true hospitality superstar, and a credit to the Penfolds name. Thank you, Tamara, for making our evening unforgettable! 🍷
We visited Penfolds Magill Estate today and had a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality.
The estate is beautifully maintained, blending rich history with modern elegance. Our lunch was absolutely exceptional, every dish was thoughtfully prepared, perfectly paired with Penfolds’ iconic wines, and served with impeccable attention to detail.
The staff were knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about what they do, which added so much to the overall experience.
Whether you’re a wine lover or just looking for a special day out, Penfolds Magill Estate is a must-visit in South Australia. Highly recommended 👌we’ll definitely be back!!
It's my first visit to Penfolds today. It's so beautiful that I have taken photos as much as possible to record everything that I saw. Will be back again for their Magill Estate Kitchen as they offer one of the best dining experience in town.
Being a wine rookie, Yu Chen has been very helpful in navigating the tour, without much of jargon’s, from the art to the science of winemaking. At the end of tour session, get to taste multiple selection of white and red wine.
Again, thank you Mr. Yu Chen, we will have BIN 150 share with friend back home.
We found arrival poor, the 11am crowds quite large and the cellar door reception not well organized.
When we got going Ivan was very knowledgeable and our group quiet but fun.
Cellars walk good then a sit down taste of 6 decent wines ending with a drop of young Grange Shiraz 2020 which sells for $1000.
The bad bit was lunch, we were all split into tables for 2 in the Magill Cafe not the good restaurant and the menu and wines were set, no choice.
King fish starter was good, some tough beef and salad, poor sticky toffee pudding.(3Wines)
The room very busy ,noisy and the chair cold unpadded. It was good to get out and away.
At the end of December opening hours were weird due to closed periods in the Australian way of closures during high season!
I strongly recommend a short tour and eating only at the main restaurant.
But don’t miss a walk down to the historic Penfold family cottage which was not included in the walk about.
We came back to the city by public bus from near by stop it was more fun than a taxi.
Her knowledge and experience was amazing and made the difference.
Highly recommended.
Our guide Mark was knowledgeable from geology, history, wine production and wine tasting on all things Penfolds. He was extremely accommodating and personable offering a lot of insights particularly when rounding off the tour with a tasting.
I highly recommend this tour as it offers abit of history & viewing of the stunning underground cellar in an intimate setting.
Definitely a must see if you’re in the Adelaide city area.
Thank you Anne????????????
Take a tour, make a lunch booking or just have a tasting in the beautiful cellar door. There’s plenty to see whilst you just relax and have a sip, so be sure to have a look around.
Anne who hosted the tour and wine tasting was awesome with her knowledge and friendship
Finished with 3 course matching lunch with wine from restaurant
Very highly recommended
Lunch was spectacular. It was a set menu, but with 2 dishes per couple to share for each course. Matched wines with each course. We couldn’t finish the deserts.
We bought a couple of bottles of wine for very close to retail bottle shop prices.
After all that we were supposed to do a normal wine tasting, but literally were too full and content to manage it.
Being Penfolds, there wasn’t a bad wine all day, and plenty that were memorable.
Make sure your partner doesn’t drink red wine and you can end up with a double taste of Grange ;)
I’m sorry, but I haven’t really conveyed just how good this experience is - just do it.
Absolutely love the grounds
We went on a Monday for a wine tasting.
Ivan at the cellar door is an absolute gem, so knowledgeable about all the ones, right down to the size and wood type of the barrel, each drop is made in.
All the wines were so delicious, we were craving a charcuterie board. Would probably have been best to go on a Wednesday through to Sunday as that is when the kitchen is open.
Other than that, it was a great experience!
Stand out drop of the tasting would definitely be the 2020 Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz
