Spent time wine tasting and a fantastic private lunch at the historical family home. Chef Imogen creations were outstanding
Then a wander about Silver Sands, Maslin Beach and Blanch Point escarpment
Ben has a wealth of knowledge about this area, the aboriginal peoples, the wine and the nature.
It was the best adventure of our time in Australia.
Wine tasting @ an unique winery, amazing lunch outside overlooking vineyards, and we learned so much about the area. This tour will definitely be one of our Australian trip highlights.
Had a delicious meal at his home prepared by his
partner and checked out the cool wine cellar. Some other guests were able to join in as well which made for a nice group along with his mum. and his colleague Richard.
Highly recommend!
Your driving onto the southern expressway was appalling, then came the wandering all over the lane going up the hill, this was probably due to the fact that you were not paying attention to the road but to your phone! Remember drivers behind you CAN see what you are doing! Then there was the lane changing WITHOUT INDICATING!
You should be ashamed of yourself with that quality of driving, and yes the vehicle was a white Toyota land cruiser registration 969-SV!
Get of the road and go back and do some driving lessons.
We had such a fantastic day, starting off at the beautiful Onkaparinga River National Park, with stunning views and such interesting information about the land and history from the owner of Off Piste, Ben. We got to see some wildlife and 4WD down to the bottom enjoy some delicious local wine & nibbles down by the river. We then headed toward McLaren Flat to the laidback, cosy atmosphere at McCarthy’s Orchard where we enjoyed a wine and cider tasting and a great chat with the owner of this gem, Mark. We then went on to Benny’s family home where we got to relax with a few wines under the shade of a beautiful big tree right next to the vineyard. We then got to experience one of the most incredible meals I have had the pleasure of enjoying on behalf of the amazing chef, Mo. My dietary requirements were catered to with such consideration and effort that everyone was able to enjoy all of the food together. Not only was the meal exceptional but the company was too - Benny, Mo, and Lorraine were so kind, interesting, and welcoming and being able to spend our afternoon in the backyard of their family home enjoying their food, wine and conversation was such a pleasure.
We ended the day by heading to Sellicks Beach and enjoyed the last of the afternoon sun by the ocean.
What a fantastic day, I would recommend Off Piste 4WD tours to anyone and everyone.
Could not recommend this trip highly enough, from the great company, excellent produce and incredible scenery!
The trip was one of the highlights of our holiday in Australia.
1. Piste's lack of communication to us that they had a conflict on the date of the event (they blamed it on Tripadvisor)
2. Piste's inaccurate description of the event (see below)
We booked on January 14th for this all day event, scheduled February 18th. Tripadvisor sent us a confirmation number, and an "eticket", and also mentioned that we should contact the business to arrange pickup.
When we contacted Piste (on the 4th of February), they indicated that there was a conflict: "We already have 4 booked in for Feb 18th (TripAdvisor site hadn't updated) the 200-series Land Cruiser does have 6 seats but the rear ones are tight."
Note that the description of the activity states "Small-group tour limited to 10 people ensures a more personalized experience". This would lead me to believe that they have a vehicle capable of comfortably carrying 10 persons, or multiple vehicles. Their response: "The information is incorrect, we only have the one vehicle and have done for the last 2 years."
They did offer to reschedule us for the 19th. Unfortunately, we fly to Melbourne that morning. So, I said "no", but that I'd be willing to work with the other party with respect to seating. Their response, the other party "cannot sit in the rear seats due to a bad hip and another due to their age and motion sickness.".
Piste closed with, "I highly appreciate your keenness to join us but I think it might be a tad difficult this time round".
In other words, no we won't have you. Sorry.
I cancelled. No, I do not recommend this business.
