The food was oily, tasteless and overcooked. The service was poor and the value cor money bad. We shared vegetarian tapas and everything was awful and very expensive considering the low quality.

SUPER friendly staff made us feel most welcome. Generous with tasting tips. If you are after a genuinely warm personality and not some robot that rattles off a pre-learned pretentious script about the wines then this is the place to visit.

With sensibly priced wines - This Vinyard is the sister to the notably good Tim Adams brand. Same wine maker same (?) grapes make this hidden gem in the Clare Valley our must see destination whenever we re-vist this understated Australian gem.

A great chefs choice menu and wine pairing at an amazing price. We enjoyed the rustic warm atmosphere, inside the restaurant on a cold winters day. We were served salt and pepper squid, pork belly, duck leg, a leafy green garden salad, twice cooked potatoes, arinchinni balls, and crusty bread with dukkah. We left full and appreciated being served quality food.

We had the Chefs Selection with matching wines .. and we could not fault it. Massive shout out to Janene who was wonderful .

We have been to Mr Mick's many times over the years, it's a must when we visit Clare.
Yesterday (Friday night) we were one of 4 couples dining, this was sad to see as its normally booked out.
We ordered from the ala carte menu. Had salt & pepper squid, lacking seasoning, hallumi chips, these were nice, lamb cutlets, my favourite out of the 4, and chicken, this was overcooked and dry. The wine was fabulous as always.
The staff, two of them, were very attentive and friendly.
We paid $120+ and it was honestly not worth it. I dont mind paying premium, but expect premium quality.
I hope that this was a once off, but reading some of the new reviews, it seems that something has changed and not for the better.

Had an absolutly amazing easter lunch with these laddies and fellas, excellent service with perfect mannors! The food was absolutely fenominal, a particular shout out for the crab and lamb they where cooked to perfection and served beautifully on the plate, with a fantastic selection of wines, and more items on the menue im excited to try! I couldnt reccomend them more highly, my many thanks for an amazing time! I cant wait to come back to try your wines and enjoy some more of your food!

This menu is clearly designed to squeeze profit margins, nothing else. The $50 “feed me” option just locks you in, and there’s zero care put into presentation or the quality of the food.

We ordered for five people and the amount of food that came out would have struggled to feed three.
For what you’re paying, it’s honestly a joke.

Beautiful location, but unfortunately the experience with both food and service was underwhelming. Disappointing given the many positive reviews online.

The menu only offers fixed pricing of $50, $60, or $70 per person depending on the number of dishes, with no option to order individual dishes if you’re not particularly hungry.

We chose the $50 per person option (2 small and 2 large dishes) and with 5 of us - did not receive $250 worth/quality of food.
Servings were very small, food quality subpar and presentation basic. Much closer to pub-style than what the pricing suggests.

Went to Mr Micks based on traveler rankings, but they are obviously very historical. The new menu style price per person represents extremely poor value and the food quality was ordinary at best To the point that even though we felt the food quantity was lacking ($250 + drinks lunch for a party of 5) we still left to chicken.
There are many many better choices in the Clare Valley than here. Not recommended

Very quiet being a Tuesday - nevertheless, couldn’t fault any of the staff who served me. Big shout out to Grace who ran the wine tastings - very knowledgeable
, enthusiastic and obviously enjoys her role (in my experience, not always a common feature in hospitality).

For lunch I had three tapas and one “larger” dish. All were very beautifully presented and very tasty.

We visited late in the day after bike riding along the Riesling Trail with all the wineries not having any food, even on a Sunday just after new years! Peak travel time!

We arrived at Mr Micks about 3pm and were greeted with the most welcoming staff member, Grace. She went above and beyond to ensure we were hydrated, and given tastings of wine to select the perfect bottle and she made us an amazing cheese platter, this was so appreciated after all day with no food!
We cannot fault Mr Micks and all thanks to the lovely Grace who went above and beyond for us. Thank you!

A couple of months ago Mr. Mick changed their pricing structure, and we are not pleased. The food, the service, the setting, and the wines are still fine, but the new pricing means we will be less likely to go there. Prior to the pricing change, you had the option of a $65 chef’s selection (feed me menu), or à la carte from their seasonal selection of small and medium sized tapas-style dishes. So, if you weren’t particularly hungry, or you were in a bit of a hurry, or you wanted something different from your partner, you could just order a couple of dishes each off the à la carte menu, a couple of glasses of wine, and there’s a lovely light lunch done and dusted. But under the new pricing, you have to pay $50, $60, or $70 for a selection of dishes that the entire table has to agree on. For example, for $50 per person you can select 3 small and 1 large dish (or 2 and 2), but everyone on the table, whether that’s two people or ten, has to agree on the selection. This has not been made very clear on the website. And as far as I know, if you have some at your table who are happy to go for the $70 per person so that they can select more dishes, but some only want to go for the $50 selection, that’s not possible unless perhaps you split up into two groups. Anyway, we’ve heard lots of complaints from locals, and personally I think they are going to lose a lot of casual local business due to this new pricing model. We are certainly less likely to go there now.

Well what a beautiful experience, we had been given a Mr.Mick voucher from our children and grandchildren.
What a great gift, from our phone booking to today when we arrived, greeted with a beautiful smile taken to our table, waited on lie we were royalty, and the food OMG well it was just magnificent, my wife and I had the two persons menu , it really was plenty certainly not skimping on anything our taste buds were seduced from the beginning to the end of the meal.
If this isn't on your bucket list then I suggest you put it on there.
Thanks to all the fantastic staff, you guys and gals sure know your jobs.

Well the weekend was freezing but all the more reason to head out and enjoy wineries 🍷.
We booked to go to Mr Mick. I am glad we did, it was busy.

It's a lovely place to sit, cold but it smelt good in there. So if you weren't hungry, you would be once you had smelt the food.
We ordered lots of plates. I hate tapas. This is obviously not really tapas food.
We decided to have our bread and arancini first. The arancini was good. Bread is so small. Onto the chicken, which was average- not exciting. My husband said the lamb was good. The carrots were ok but mash looked like it had come from a packet.
Chips ok. Salad very good, dressing was very good.
We choose the special for dessert. It was the highlight.
The food was good. But not fabulous.
Wine was ok. Again nothing to get excited about.
The service was average!
Three people working, well only one person really working on the floor. The amazing Miss V.
The other two were hopeless.
While Miss V spun around a million times, the other two were clumsy and inefficient.

Service was fine, friendly and prompt However the quality and value of the tapas style servings were not great.
Barramundi ($29) was a tiny portion, overcooked and swamped by a white sauce.
Moroccan spiced chicken ($26) was tough, overcooked and bland, without discernable spice.
Patatas ($14) were a success tasty and plentiful.
There are great dining options throughout the Clare Valley. Mr Micks does need to lift its game if it wants to remain competitive.

We had a car rental for the day and our travel agent had listed this winery in our suggestions to visit for the day. So glad we did. We stopped in the cellar before the restaurant opened and got to sample a few wines. Staff was super nice and friendly. We had the chef's selection for lunch. Seriously one of the best meals we had on our entire trip! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I highly recommend visiting!

Loved our meals today. Both lamb and chicken dishes were amazing. We also had the dips and pita which were very flavoursome. Service was also very good and timely as well with lovely staff. Thank you for a great lunch. Cellar door was also great and after a tasting paddle we chose a Riesling.

Today was my daughter’s 30th birthday celebration. Eight of us came with great expectations to Mr Micks, with Sophie having always wanted to eat here.
I’m afraid all eight of us were very surprised at how disappointing our experience was.
1. Sophie had asked for a paired chefs choice and only received one glass of wine.
2. The food was at best reasonable pub food, served mildly warm with the majority of it being fried. Having said that the seared tuna was fresh and the most enjoyed by all.
3. When enquiring if Sophie would receive a dairy free option when the remaining guests had deep fried halloumi we were told “no” as the capsicum dish would be too filling for her and the previous dish was the equivalent of two. That being a mushroom with couscous on it and a handful of salad greens and not at all appetising. Then we were curtly told they’d bring something out…a bowl of more salad greens with lukewarm bok choy served with canned coconut cream which was vile.
4. The pork belly was very tough and not crunchy and left by most. Most of the food was barely seasoned.
5. The staff were not attentive. When asked if we could please have another high chair on arrival, we were told I have one for you. I don’t know if we can do something with the pram though, we weren’t expecting that.
There was barely a smile and plates were not cleared. We honestly felt as though we were an inconvenience.
We were asked once if we’d like more water with one bottle given for 8. Not asked if we’d like dessert or any other wine.
6. There was no explanation of the dishes we were being served. Certainly not what we have experienced with past “chef choice dining “. And we’re not a bunch of “Karen’s”. We are a very easy going bunch and love to be with each other.
7. $63. We should have left when we first arrived and discerned it was not a welcoming place. This was something we had all saved for and really wanted it to be memorable for Soph. We’re having a bit of laugh now because it really was memorable but for all the wrong reasons.
8. When paying for the bill they tried to charge us for the pairing and then didn’t quite believe us when we said she had only received one glass.

So sad I can’t be more positive with this review.

As an addition to our review I would like to thank the manager and staff for their quick response and kindness they showed to us today when I came to meet them. They were very apologetic, listened intently and were very generous in making up for our experience yesterday. Sincerely…thank you.

Couldn’t believe how bad the food was that came out. Overcooked crab disintegrated when touched dry and overcooked. Pork crackle was like rubber and pork was dry and overcooked Very small serves and expensive. Couldn’t believe had bad it was.

We dined here with another couple recently. I ordered the moroccan chicken with cous cous and a potato dish for my husband and I to share. The waiter advised us that the dishes are tapas and designed to share and when I asked if what my husband and I ordered would be enough for us both, he indicated that it should be. We waited quite some time before our dishes finally arrived. The chicken dish consisted of four tiny slivers of chicken which wasn't even one chicken thigh and a tiny amount of cous cous. The chicken was very dry and over cooked. I would have thought that the waitress who brought out our food would be embarrassed by the tiny portion of chicken on the plate. It wasn't even enough for one person, let alone two! Our friends ordered the calamari and duck leg dishes which were well presented and were larger serves than what we ordered. Our friends paid $27.00 for the duck and $19.00 for the calamari which was better value and larger portions than what we had. We paid $26.00 for four tiny slivers of over cooked, dry chicken and $14.00 for the potato dish and were left feeling very hungry and not happy. We could have gone to the pub and had a decent size schnitzel for the same amount of money and left contented and full. I would have sent the chicken dish back but because we were dining with friends I did not want to cause a scene. We are very disappointed with the size and quality of the meals served and the price we paid. We won't be going back.

Loved this place, in the town but close to the Riesling Trail. Food was amazing, and fantastic its open 7 days a week. Attentive staff and reasonable drinks prices. We were in the restaurant but on warmer days out in the courtyard would be nice too, and outside is dog friendly. We'll be back.

Enjoyed the wine tasting, friendly and welcoming. Had the chef’s selection for lunch, loved the pork belly and chicken. Felt a little overloaded with carb dishes though, focaccia followed by deep fried calamari (very filling), followed by arancini (filling) with veges on a bed of chick peas (omg full), then chicken on a bed of couscous with bowl of baked potatoes, then came the pork belly which was great but we were so full by then. Biggest disappointment aside from the carb overload was the aioli with the potato, was wishing this was sour cream.

Great spot on a sunny day with outdoor space and lawn games for the kids. The tapas were excellent (especially the raw tuna) and the portion sizes were very reasonable - the kids schnitzel and chips were huge too (and they loved them). If you're in a rush, you might be better off somewhere else, but for a leisurely lunch don't miss it.

Pleasant lunch Nice pleasant outdoor seating with plenty of shade. We shared various plates of food with Pork Belly and Arancini balls being the standout. Nice wines and good service.

Smick Mick It's tapas style, so sharing is the best way to go. I have to say the service was excellent, staff were all very friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely delicious, but be warned, if you're on a tight budget Mr Mick is expensive. We've been here twice now and I'd recommend going with the chef's selections option for the best value.

Excellent food and wine The rose’ is light and delicate and the muscat is divine with hints of rose petals- they have a muscat spritzer which is great to sip as you eat the food. It’s tapas style and very filling- we had haloumi chips, excellent fried potatoes, pita bread with a tasty corn dip and olive tapenade, Greek salad and a pear and balsamic vinegar salad, tomato arancini, fabulously soft and creamy broccoli and feta croquettes, as well as squid and crab. All came with a variety of well made sauces and glazes. We sat outside and there was a guitar player who contributed enjoyable background music. Service was good and all in all it was extremely good.

We travelled to Clare for a birthday lunch and had the most amazing experience! Jo and Grace were great hosts and the chefs did not disappoint. We had a wide range of tapas and each meal was incredible. A few firsts but definitely not the lasts! We will be back and highly recommend to anyone visiting Clare. The ambiance, the food, the wine & beer...what's not to like. 6 stars out of 5!

Dropped in for some wine tasting & lunch with friends, the tasting was very informative with some history of Clare and the vineyard. Lovely lady served us with some great recommendations.
We chose the Chefs menu for lunch and were blown away with the quality & quantity of food, we couldn’t finish it all and the very kind staff suggested boxing up the rest, we enjoyed it for dinner.

This restaurant/winery is located quite far from Adelaide, requiring more than an hour's drive. Upon arrival, the decoration and design are nice and welcoming. You may think the drive is worth it as you browse the menu and choose your meals. However, when your food arrives, you might be surprised by the small portions. For example, paying around $24 for crab and receiving only two small pieces of a crab leg seems unreasonable.

I am baffled by the positive reviews this place has received. When I asked about the small portions, the staff were dismissive and unprofessional. The poor customer service and lack of respect were shocking. For the high prices, the food quality and portion sizes were disappointing.

I strongly recommend seeking another place. This establishment needs to learn how to treat customers with respect and listen to their concerns instead of interrupting and rolling their eyes. I will never return and would not suggest this place to anyone.

We had a delightful, tapas style lunch, sharing a few dishes between the two of us. We started with bread, olive oil and dukkah, then progressed to vegetarian croquettes, followed by the barramundi and greens. We finished with a marinated chicken dish. All very nice .We would return here again.

Not enjoyable at all. Sat outside and was annoyed by European wasps. In the end we had to leave earlier than we wanted to because they were getting quite bad. Told the waitress and all she could say was oh well we can't do anything about it. Well don't have tables outside then duh! Service was bad and slow.

Friendly and helpful staff but the food was nothing special, a bit disappointing really. The outside setting was fine, and the service was pretty good. Won’t be rushing back though.

Came for lunch and ordered the squid, arancini, duck and soft shell crab (not pictured). I highly recommend the squid, it is just the right balance between crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Food was served at a decent pace and service staff were very friendly. Would come back again :-)

Outdoor dining in the shade was a bonus. Good range of sharing plates and meals were fresh and tasty. Friendly, experienced staff and food was well presented.

We had a wine tasting followed by lunch. We both decided to go the chef's selection of share plates, and it was amazing food. I'm not sure how they count their dishes, but they just seemed to keep coming. We chose our own wines by the glass, but when I asked for advice on a wine for one dish, it was an absolute beauty. If you're in Clare do not miss this place.

Me & the hubby decided to grab a late lunch after hitting the Riesling Trail and this spot was perfect. What can I say the Tapas were to die for. The young lass that served us recommended how many dishes she thought we might like to order depending on how hungry we were so we opted for 5 but I think we had eyes bigger than our belly’s as the portion sizes were surprisingly big and jam packed full of flavour. The hubby found the perfect wine, Mr Mick Shiraz so much so he decided to buy an extra couple of bottles to bring home.
The staff were really nice and very friendly who all seem to make it run like clockwork our tapas dishes came out at a steady rate and we didn’t feel rushed, it was a really relaxing dining experience thank you ???? this place is a hidden gem & I would definitely recommend it

Top notch! What a delightful place this is lovely ambience lovely waitpersons. Good menu true to the descriptions and very reasonable prices for the food plus the wine. The girls were chatty and friendly and very efficient. Lovely sitting outside under the trees not rushed but tapas of course is like that the time is taken to enjoy the taste and the different dishes. All in all a great and surprising experience!

What an amazing experience of mouth watering tapas. So much to choose from, I had the Chefs Selection with Mr. Mick wine pairing. From the cellar door to the restaurant we had an awsome time, and look forward to doing it again.

Lovely place to dine in and also do wine tasting as they are side by side. The foods here are all for sharing, so we ordered some. Loved the crispy pork and the chicken. The prok was really tender, and the skin was chripsy. Did not really enjoy the squid as it was very bland.
