We travelled to Clare for a birthday lunch and had the most amazing experience! Jo and Grace were great hosts and the chefs did not disappoint. We had a wide range of tapas and each meal was incredible. A few firsts but definitely not the lasts! We will be back and highly recommend to anyone visiting Clare. The ambiance, the food, the wine & beer...what's not to like. 6 stars out of 5!

We pick the chef selection & pair with Tim Adams wines. It's really a wonderful dining experience. The wine pairing (+$30) is absolutely value for money.

Dropped in for some wine tasting & lunch with friends, the tasting was very informative with some history of Clare and the vineyard. Lovely lady served us with some great recommendations.
We chose the Chefs menu for lunch and were blown away with the quality & quantity of food, we couldn’t finish it all and the very kind staff suggested boxing up the rest, we enjoyed it for dinner.

This restaurant/winery is located quite far from Adelaide, requiring more than an hour's drive. Upon arrival, the decoration and design are nice and welcoming. You may think the drive is worth it as you browse the menu and choose your meals. However, when your food arrives, you might be surprised by the small portions. For example, paying around $24 for crab and receiving only two small pieces of a crab leg seems unreasonable.

I am baffled by the positive reviews this place has received. When I asked about the small portions, the staff were dismissive and unprofessional. The poor customer service and lack of respect were shocking. For the high prices, the food quality and portion sizes were disappointing.

I strongly recommend seeking another place. This establishment needs to learn how to treat customers with respect and listen to their concerns instead of interrupting and rolling their eyes. I will never return and would not suggest this place to anyone.

We had a delightful, tapas style lunch, sharing a few dishes between the two of us. We started with bread, olive oil and dukkah, then progressed to vegetarian croquettes, followed by the barramundi and greens. We finished with a marinated chicken dish. All very nice .We would return here again.

Not enjoyable at all. Sat outside and was annoyed by European wasps. In the end we had to leave earlier than we wanted to because they were getting quite bad. Told the waitress and all she could say was oh well we can't do anything about it. Well don't have tables outside then duh! Service was bad and slow.

Friendly and helpful staff but the food was nothing special, a bit disappointing really. The outside setting was fine, and the service was pretty good. Won’t be rushing back though.

Came for lunch and ordered the squid, arancini, duck and soft shell crab (not pictured). I highly recommend the squid, it is just the right balance between crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! Food was served at a decent pace and service staff were very friendly. Would come back again :-)

We did a tasting first - very enjoyable, with most wines available for puchase at under $20 a bottle, so reasonable!
Lunch was under the trees, on the lawn - magic!
Our group ordered Calamari, Lamb Cutlets, Aracini, Barramundi, Greek Salad and Duck!

Outdoor dining in the shade was a bonus. Good range of sharing plates and meals were fresh and tasty. Friendly, experienced staff and food was well presented.

We had a wine tasting followed by lunch. We both decided to go the chef's selection of share plates, and it was amazing food. I'm not sure how they count their dishes, but they just seemed to keep coming. We chose our own wines by the glass, but when I asked for advice on a wine for one dish, it was an absolute beauty. If you're in Clare do not miss this place.

Me & the hubby decided to grab a late lunch after hitting the Riesling Trail and this spot was perfect. What can I say the Tapas were to die for. The young lass that served us recommended how many dishes she thought we might like to order depending on how hungry we were so we opted for 5 but I think we had eyes bigger than our belly’s as the portion sizes were surprisingly big and jam packed full of flavour. The hubby found the perfect wine, Mr Mick Shiraz so much so he decided to buy an extra couple of bottles to bring home.
The staff were really nice and very friendly who all seem to make it run like clockwork our tapas dishes came out at a steady rate and we didn’t feel rushed, it was a really relaxing dining experience thank you ???? this place is a hidden gem & I would definitely recommend it

Delish tapas for lunch, sitting in the lovely garden with mist, our dog was happy he could join. Great tasting, wines were $18 a bottle so very reasonable

Top notch! What a delightful place this is lovely ambience lovely waitpersons. Good menu true to the descriptions and very reasonable prices for the food plus the wine. The girls were chatty and friendly and very efficient. Lovely sitting outside under the trees not rushed but tapas of course is like that the time is taken to enjoy the taste and the different dishes. All in all a great and surprising experience!

Good food. Can dine outdoors. We had 5 dishes all of which were very tasty. Enough food for 2 people. I’d have rated this ‘good’ if the option existed. Probably only average because not cheap (certainly not the $ rating I read on one website) and food took quite a while to come.

The barramundi with coconut yoghurt was unusual, but I enjoyed it. The first disappointment was with the desserts. We ordered the churros with chocolate sauce, the chocolate cake with raspberry coulis, and the blueberry tart. The chocolate cake turned out to be a mud cake that had absolutely no sweetness, and the raspberry coulis & coconut yoghurt were also not sweet, just adding to the woes. It didn't taste like a ''dessert''. The churros serving was huge, but the dipping sauce quantity was small (got only 1 dipping sauce, although it's advertised as coming with two sauces). The blueberry tart was average. The attitude of the staff was what spoilt the dining experience for us. There was no cheerful welcome. No one smiled- all were dour faced. Unlike in most other restaurants, no staff explained what the dishes were when we were served or came near us to inquire about whether the food was to our liking. Best start to mini vacation. Food was absolutely delicious and the service just as good. We chose the chefs selection options and was great value. All the wine was equally good and we also purchased 4 bottles to take home after doing a tasting in the cellar door. Would absolutely love to return again thankyou.

Amazing food will fill Ur belly Nice cellar door area for wine tasting. Friendly and nice tasting. Was a nice prelude to an amazing lunch. We had the feed me selecttion by the chef's. Six dishes plus sides and salad and dessert. All good made homestyle tapas which were very tasty .We left not being able to eat another bite a great deal for $60 each.

What an amazing experience of mouth watering tapas. So much to choose from, I had the Chefs Selection with Mr. Mick wine pairing. From the cellar door to the restaurant we had an awsome time, and look forward to doing it again.

Lovely place to dine in and also do wine tasting as they are side by side. The foods here are all for sharing, so we ordered some. Loved the crispy pork and the chicken. The prok was really tender, and the skin was chripsy. Did not really enjoy the squid as it was very bland.

Too late for lunch - platter was sorted - thanks to the lady in the tasting room Called in for lunch but restaurant wasn't taking customers (it was about 2.00pm) and we were told to try the tasting area where we could get a platter to share. The lady there was most gracious and helpful and organised a platter and a tasting for us. The cheese platters was good and we were most grateful - the wine tasting was good but the wine struck us as very average - not good enough for us to want to buy more than one bottle - a Tempranillo was our choice. Thanks to the lady who sorted out the platter - without her we would not have been particularly happy

Mr Mick, a great spot for lunch. Wow, what a surprise. Did not know what to expect. Turned out to be an experience I have raved about. Service was excellent, the food was spectacular. The wine was great and the atmosphere perfect for what we were looking. Price was not a consideration but was very pleased with bill when we left. Thankyou Mr Mick, this was quite the experience.

Not impressed Tapas style food. Service ok, food is bland. Seafood brought out after the heavier lamb and beef dishes. Expensive. Not recommend to go there, especially since there are so many different great places to visit at Clare.

Rather decadent lunch we relaxed with a tapas lunch with 5 excellent dishes, staff were friendly and sitting in the garden in the shade on a waarm sunny day was great. good wines to accompany the meal

Nice vibe, great outdoor space, beautiful live music. It's a nice place to stop for a good feed and bevy. I chose the Miss Molly Malone Grape Spritzer and it's yuum! Highly recommended.

Great restaurant & cellar door If the weather is good, book an outside table in the garden. Great food and wine at reasonable prices & the staff are excellent. Highly recommend.

Fabulous venue and exceptional service! My husband and I were booked in for lunch at Mr. Mick Cellar Door and Kitchen (initially as part of a Riesling trail bike tour) Unfortunately I woke up that morning with a very sore back and had to ditch the bikes. We went to the restaurant to have lunch anyway. The staff , and especially the lady that was front of house, were so accommodating and mindful of the pain I was in and seated us outside in the beautiful garden setting with comfortable chairs. Nothing was a problem for them. We had the chefs selection menu and the first couple of tapas offerings which was delicious. Unfortunately by this point my back was getting much worse and we had to leave. The staff were great and insisted that they make up some takeaway containers that we could take with us. They didn’t even charge us for the two drinks we had! Could not have got any better service and would definitely recommend!

Will never missed going to Mr. Mick everytime we’re in Clare Valley. Visited here a couple of times, including my birthday - the tapas are price accommodating for me atleast. The tuna was my favorite but they’ve changed the dressing to cheese. Apart from that, all the tapas we ordered are delicious.

Great outdoor dining restaurant in Clare. Comparing to having a lunch in nearby wineries, the price here is accommodating. Love the beetroot and sweet potatoes sauces, refreshing and light tasting. Wonderful in sizzling summer. We had our lunch insider coz we scared of flys and just want to stay away from people. But personally I think everybody shoulder try to dine outside first. Eating on lawn and enjoy the view would be lovely.

Outstanding Service A huge shout out to staff who were on service on 18/12/22. Nothing was too much trouble from fitting us in as a walk in - an impromptu catchup with a friend & arranging tables to the requests we had with 3 children in tow .You were all fabulous as too was the food. Thankyou for the suggestion of the Chef 'feed me' option! We were truly blessed Thankyou again and I can't wait to come back again soon.

OMG, best food we have had in a very long time.! Squid, tuna and all of it. Awesome. Everything was fantastic. Wine was great too. We will be back.! Tomorrow...? ????

Hmmmmm… The salad was good…..!!!!! The only saving grace was only the Tim Adams bottle of Cab Malbec we bought .and a salad! The food was quite shocking. The squid was tender but completely killed by the overbearing lemon myrtle flavouring. The single piece of barramundi on sloppy (supposedly coconut) sauce . how on earth was that even tapas dish???? Basic croquettes should have been the saving grace for a tapas menu but where was the cauliflower under all that cheese??? Then, there are just no words to describe (or to waste on describing!!!! ) the beef brisket dish. It was the worst piece of meat all four of us remember eating, made even less appetising when plonked onto watery noodles. The dry and bland pork belly came a close second-worst dish to the beef. The lamb dish was far more edible but there’s no photo as it looked ugly!! Was the kitchen just having a bad night??? We just kept waiting for the next dish to be good or better .. Is it even possible to believe that it was a lovely, zesty, vibrant salad that was the one dish that didn’t disappoint us all. It was actually superb .. but they have a large menu and ONLY a salad was worth eating. Wow. Do yourself a favour and eat at a lovely pub in the valley instead!

Very Nice Dinner Only open for dinner on a Friday, so very busy when we visited. We ordered the 4 course menu with matching Tim Adam’s wines which included cauliflower and cheese croquette, soft shell crab, barramundi, churros, and a delicious dessert of the day tart. All extremely good including service.

Great food and welcoming staff We had the Chefs tapas selection of 6 courses which was brilliant and great value for money, plus the wine paring. The squid, pork belly and dessert were the standouts. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend a visit and we shall return.

Friday night Tapas My husband and I enjoyed the feed me based on chef’s selection on a Friday night. We were very happy with our meal and felt completely satisfied. Service was great. Busy restaurant but not too noisy to have a good chat. We also loved the wine we didn’t make it back during our stay in Clare to do a full tasting but we will be back! Recommend booking!

Fantastic food, fast service Was last here perhaps 6 or 7 years ago. Back then they were doing the Tapas thing much the same as now. Tonight we arrived with no booking and there was just enough room to be squeezed in. The Tapas selection was all really good .We went for the Arancini which was crispy and soft at the same time. Rice inside was perfect. The squid was just on crispy outside and super tender. Excellent with the chili jam. The chicken was outstanding with the humus. The lamb was super tender. Wines outstandingly good. And desserts excellent as well. Overall better than we remember from the last visit of years ago. Thank goodness for the long walk back to our accommodation afterwards to help walk off the excellent food.

Wine Tasting Have had a lovely weekend in Clare with my family. Great service and beverages at Jeanneret and Clare Valley Brewing, as well as Clos Clare Winery. Extremely dissatisfied with Mr Mick Wines. The lady who served us was moody, not engaging and couldn’t care less .When asked if she was okay she replied with ‘can’t wait for the day to be over’. Supposed to be 20ml in the glass for tasting at $10 and we were lucky if there was 10ml poured. Not to mention the brut which was flat! We certainly won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend.

Winning lunch Went for a winter weekday lunch. Shared 3 tapas plates, chicken, and a lamb and a winter grain salad plate. All were excellent and generous. It was truly a winning lunch

Visited Mr Mick for lunch, was slightly crowded and thankfully we did managed to get in without a reservation.

Ordered the pork, lamb and patatas and churros. Love how the food here is fusion. I believe the pork belly was cooked in a style which has Chinese influence and served with plum sauce. Love the patatas.

The menu is great and offers suggestions on the type of wine to pair.

If they broke the deep fryer there would my be anything on the menu, except the canned food! Disappointing almost everything is deep fried, basic cheap and cheerful meals. Noisy and cold in the restaurant. A baby was crawling around the floor when we dined. Lots of customer focused restaurants to try first before Mr Mick.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE Absolutely Fantastic! Started our day with a wine flight tasting outside on the beautiful lawn area in the Sunshine and then enjoyed tasty Tapas style Lunch! Staff were friendly and very helpful. Will certainly recommend and return!

Very well priced compared to others I've been too as such I couldn't resist signing up to the wine club. Thankyou for the experience. Made our stay in Clare memorable.
