Our lovely group enjoyed a full week of adventures and experiences well beyond what we expected. Elliott took care of everything, for 16 hours a day every day! Every extra request - from picking up souvenirs for people to extending certain parts of the trip was taken care of for us. We had the best spots for each sightseeing opportunity and got to see the best of every experience free from the usual crowds.
Thanks, Elliott, for giving us all the trip of a lifetime. I would do the tour, or any other tour, again in a heartbeat!
Every day brought new, breathtaking scenery and the experience was made so much more interesting by the very informative stories that Elliott had researched and shared on a range of subjects from Aboriginal culture, to colonial history, wildlife, geology and plants.
Our group included people ranging from 9 to their seventies and everyone was very well looked after and catered for. It all worked well because the entire group participated in camp set-up, cooking and pack down. The food was excellent and plentiful too.
I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see iconic outback sights, and experience bush adventure off the beaten track, with a great balance of driving, bush walking and culture.
We got blessed with Eli as our tour guide. He was doing such a great job by managing several different jobs: driver, tour guide, chef. He knew all our names after the first day, made sure from the beginning that everyone felt comfortable. His inspiration and knowledge about the indigenous people is remarkable and that all at his age. He found the right balance between staying within the schedule, but also be spontaneous and relaxed.
I cannot thank him enough to make this tour unforgettable.
The trip was chock-a-block full of sunsets, sunrises, hikes, wildlife, swag sleeping under the stars & campfire’s with story telling and cracking laughter.
8 amazing days of stunning scenery & building a closer connection to both country & our tour family.
It’s an impossible task to name a singular highlight, but the deeply spiritual indigenous cultural tour with John in the Flinders Rangers will stay with us forever. Thank you Hannah & Untamed for an unforgettable experience… it far exceeded our expectations!
It fulfilled many dreams of a lifetime.
My wife and I had a really fun time.
Some improvements I would make:
1/ even though there was wine tasting advertised in the itinerary introduction there was no wine tasting. Several of us were waiting for it to happen when we were told it was time to leave. We wanted to buy wine so we and the locals lost out. We would have paid for tasting ourselves if we knew it was not included.
2. I would suggest having some tents available for couples or for those who find swags a little claustrophobic. I enjoyed the swag on the second night that was good weather but the first night was wet and I didn't like it.
3. The bus ride from Adelaide to Port Jervis and back was extremely uncomfortable for me. I don't usually get motion sickness but both times I was feeling queasy. Maybe the bus driver needs to drive to the conditions. Speed limit is a maximum not a literal instruction
4. The facilities at camp happiness are pretty filthy. Cobwebs, spiders and dust everywhere. The toilets smelt really bad.
the van that we rode in on KI was very dirty too until my wife cleaned it.
We travelled a bit over 4200 km, filled with adventure and camaraderie. We tackled together beautiful hikes, slept in swags (and some of us for a few nights decided to have the luxury in tents) which added a unique touch to the experience.
The diversity of Australia truly is something special. I was thinking the long drive through Nullarbor would be boring, but happen to discover a stunning beauty of the coast - The Great Australian Bight - with its dramatic cliffs and gorgeous ocean with the whales and when you think, further down, opposite them is Antarctica
Cape Le Grand NP - another place that I really enjoyed very much. The beaches are stunning. The whitest and finest sand in the world is in Lucky Bay where we were really "lucky" to spend 2 days. The water is crystal clear and dipping your legs in the freezing water after a long hike was so refreshing.. oh, those those little moments were the best!
In general, this trip was intense, a bit physically demanding, but the more time passes, the more we appreciate and like the experience.
This tour is solo-friendly as you are travelling with like-minded folk and Jack, our guide, was a natural at making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Our group was well looked after by him whether that be in the variety of food and meals, the time taken to answer our questions and the numerous toilet stops! Jack has the right combination of fun and attentiveness. He has an engaging way of sharing his knowledge of Aboriginal culture and stories which set the scene for our walks beautifully.
This tour delivers a bucket list of memories at a comfortable and chilled pace. I had the best time and would highly recommend this tour.
Jack has a great respect for Aboriginal culture and stories, a respect for the land, a knowledge of geology and gives 110% to make sure his guests experience the magic and rawness of the Aussie outback and country in all its glory.
Great tour coordinator/chef/driver. Haven't eaten so well in years. Great guy.
I was 50 and made to feel welcome amongst people of all ages.
Bring a spare batteries for your camera.
The tour guides Gary and Iluka are amazing. Thay took care of us very well.
We had a great time, and this is the most interesting tour I’ve ever joined.
Even though there were some long drives, our group had fun. The activities were also great, you could always choose, how far you actually want to go.
The camping areas were good, as well as the swags.
The guide Brendan was also a really funny and patient guy, who told us a lot of stories about that area. Also he chose really good food, that everyone enjoyed making and eating.
I highly recommend that company.
Because of this experience I decided to book another tour with Untamed, the 10 day Adelaide to Perth tour in April 2024. My expectations were high this time, but I can tell this tour exceeded my expectations big time. Brendan was so enthusiastic in everything he did, from telling about nature to cooking the best meals I ever had on a tour. We had a very nice group of people which made the experience even better. We visited so many beautiful places, even though the weather was not always as we’ve hoped. Brendan was always quick to react, changing the itinerary so we would still have a fun activity to do.
Also I would like to mention the people behind the scenes, the contact I had with Ruby over the email, when I was not sure yet if I would be able to join. Afterwards when I wanted to change an activity in my booking. Always friendly and very helpful. Thank you for that, it feels nice to know that the people you’re in contact with are genuine.
Thank you Untamed Escapes for two amazing tours, it made my Australia journey so much better. I made friends for life on both tours which I’m so grateful for. Would definitely recommend others to book with you!
Cheers,
Elise
Wish they had been a bit more up front regarding electricity. I would have brought a battery pack if I had known.
Incredible nature, huge sting rays gliding over our toes, up close and hand feeding possums, stunning stars and sun rises that made even the furthest removed from a morning person (me) get up pre-dawn to see three of them- just breath taking.
Met the owner of the company Hassie back in 2013 who was so kind and went above and beyond to make that tour one of the best weeks ever despite a travel agent booking me on dates that weren’t meant to be available -had such a great time on that tour it actually inspired me to move to South Australia! If you like the great outdoors and nature as well as a good laugh you really couldn’t find a better company to book with.
Damo worked tirelessly to give us the best experience as well as awesome food. We had people from 7 different countries all sharing stories and experiences.A very inclusive group. I have been on many similar style tours all over the world but this one ranks tops for value, quality and experiences.
If you are not sure about travelling alone or you have never done a trip like this before, you have nothing to fear as this tour will be a life changing experience you will never forget.
many thanks to everyone who made this trip Awesome especially Damo who went well above and beyond to make this trip an awesome adventure.
get out there and do it
I made a lot of really good friends there.
If you have Damo as a your guide, you have luck he is an amazing guide. Not only is he a guide and cook he is also a pretty good entertainer. Always making everything interesting, it was never boring.
I can highly recommend the tour to everyone who wants to go to WA and don’t want to fly there.
Learned a whole lot about rocks, vegetation, history and Aboriginal culture by our super enthusiastic tour guide Brendan and later Emily.
They made sure we had very tasty meals also for the veggo’s!
It’s a great combination of hikes and an epic roadtrip trough the outback by bus with your new family from all over the world! The one thing that makes it even more special is sleeping under the stars in a Swag! So, if you like camping… highly recommend!
You will survive all the crazy animal’s, it’s most likely they will stay away.
You rock!
Adelaide Adventure with Untamed Escapes. Our guide, Matt (AKA Scruffy) was a wonderful guide. He really worked hard to make sure that we got the experience that we were wanting, he is very knowledgeable, and if he didn’t know the answer, he would go above and beyond to find the answers for us. Matt is a great chef and took a lot of pride in the meals he provided for us; when our itinerary said a picnic at the beach we definitely were not expecting such a beautifully prepared meal. We had a lot planned on our trip to Australia, and while planning our travel agent worked with Untamed Escapes to make some adjustments in their regular schedule to have it work with the other things we had planned. It seemed seamless on our end and I would definitely recommend using Untamed Escapes, (particularly Matt, because I don’t have any experience with any of the other guides, but I am sure they’re wonderful, too) if you’re looking for a fun adventure in Australia.
I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a six-day camping tour (6-Day Esperance & Margaret River Adventure Tour), and I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible experience provided by our tour guide Jazz (Jasmine). From the moment we set foot on our journey until the very end, her unwavering commitment to ensuring our safety, delivering insightful guidance, and infusing every moment with genuine entertainment left an indelible mark on our entire group.
Safety was paramount throughout the trip, and our tour guide Jazz's meticulous attention to detail was evident from the outset. She took the time to brief us on safety protocols, ensured everyone was accounted for, and navigated through various locations with utmost professionalism. Her ability to seamlessly manage logistics allowed us to relax and fully immerse ourselves in the journey.
What truly set our guide apart was her infectious enthusiasm and genuine passion for her role. It was a heartfelt commitment to providing us with a rich and meaningful experience.
Beyond the informative aspects, our guide Jazz demonstrated a remarkable talent for keeping the atmosphere light and enjoyable. A constant smile adorned her face, and her witty commentary and engaging storytelling turned what could have been mundane moments into memorable highlights. It's not every day that you come across someone who can effortlessly blend education and entertainment with such finesse.
Moreover, our guide Jazz's patience and adaptability were commendable. Her ability to tailor the experience to the group's dynamics demonstrated a level of professionalism that truly enhanced the overall enjoyment of the tour.
In summary, Jazz surpassed all expectations, turning what could have been a routine tour into an extraordinary adventure. Her commitment to safety, genuine passion for her job, and infectious enthusiasm created an experience that will be cherished by our group for years to come. If you're seeking a guide who goes above and beyond to ensure your journey is both safe and entertaining, look no further. Our heartfelt thanks to this outstanding guide for making our trip an absolute delight.
Too bad we had some passengers in the group that really did not know that they signed up for a camping trip (or even read the itinerary/ inclusions/ exclusions at all), where you sleep in REAL swags, help the guide with preparing the meals and the cleanups after, and not always have the possibility to charge your phone without a powerbank. Also, some did not quite understand that you have to have some kind of fitness level, as there are hikes for up to 10K that are real bush hikes, where you have to carry up to 3L of water and get up early (4AM) to not be walking in the extreme heat of the day. It affected the experience of the rest of the group in some way, but I think our tour guide handled the situations with these high maintenance people very well.
Conclusion: this trip is 10/10 recommended if you want to see and learn a lot of the outback of Australia and get to know the culture, enjoy some basic camping and hikes up to 10K in the bushes, are willing to roll up your sleeves, and don't mind long drives and shorter nights. Also a recommendation: carefully read all the information that is presented on the website ;).
Our guide Emily was funny, great guide and accommodated all group needs.
Our departure was changed to 7:30 pm so we really did do 3 full days , lovely
The tour itself was pretty cool. The group was small, only 12 participants, and the tour guide Dan was excellent. It never scared us away, we discovered many wild animals along the way, and always given enough time for photos. Very cool guy! Only the office still has deficits in handling complaints. Because of incorrect information, I had to book an additional flight and wasted €200 on the original flight. Unfortunately no feedback on this. The tour itself is awesome!
The people on the tour were great and we became one big family.
Our guide Brendan was the best; very knowledgeable, he kept us entertained with fun and informative stories about geology, people, history and the solar system. And to top it off, we had very tasty dinners worth of any gourmet restaurant.
Simply the best tour I've ever been on.
All features on the trip were truly remarkable.
Brendan - our outstanding Guide & fantastic Chef kept us interested in the history, filled our bellies with the tastiest meals and he can carry a good tune when it comes to singing the songs.
Hope to be"on the road again" soon.
Regards June Oct 2023
Joan and David
Our guide Alex was a true powerhouse, driving the bus, cooking tasty food and most of all telling great stories and sharing loads of information with us.
Big shout out to our tour guide Alex, her enthusiasm, local knowledge and delicious food made the trip spectacular. She was an absolute legend and ensured that everyone had the best experience. Recommend this tour 100% I’m looking forward to booking the next one.
I had the time of my life doing the 8 days tour from Uluru to Adelaide
Going to Uluru was my dream since I am 6 years old, and it was so much better than I expected thanks to you guys.
Not only Uluru, but all the other places (Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta, Coober Pedy, Flinders Rangers .) were stunning ! It was not just about visiting these places and taking pictures, we also learned stories about this beautiful sacred places thanks to our guide Lauren. Even stopping at Petrol station was an experience ! The australian desert is so special and all these places are so spiritual !!
The food !
OMG, it was better than going to the restaurant. Our superstar Lauren was incredible, and we had a feast every single day ! Warm porridge, curry, pumpkin soup, kangarou skewers (or tofu for vegetarians), she even made bread !! I miss her food already !
The accommodation
The two nights in a tent at Uluru, was great ! Nice and comfy, perfect to start the trip
The underground accommodation in Coober Pedy was so fun and comfy as well !
The swag ! What an experience ! I was a bit nervous about it, but it was actually one of my best experience since I am in Oz !
What is better that a 5* hotel ? A million-star swag ! I remember waking up in the middle of one night, looking at the sky and thinking how blessed I was to be here :-)
We were a small group (just 3 passengers and Lauren our guide), and I had so much fun. We were like a small family, I laughed so much during this trip and was so sad to leave them.
Last but not least, our guide, Lauren.
I could speak about Lauren for hours. She is a role model to me. Lauren has such a beautiful energy, she loves what she does, and she is so good at it. She can cook, she can drive a bus, she can take care of you, she is patient, lovely, funny and so much more. As I said to her, I don't need a man in my life, I need a Lauren haha :-)
Thank you so much for this amazing incredible experience, just thinking about it, I still have goose bumps.
Ana
Thank you (Brendan and Michael) for sharing a lot of knowledge and stories about history, geology and aboriginal culture (made every sign unnecessary) and for being always good for a laugh.
I could imagine no better way and no better guides to explore this part of Australia.
