Coffin Bay Short and Sweet Oyster Farm Tour - Inc 6 Oysters
Duration:
Operated By:
Cruise to an oyster farm just outside the township of Coffin Bay. Along the journey experience stunning Coffin Bay coastal & township views plus witness pods of dolphins besides the boat as they follow us on our journey (sightings cannot be guaranteed but are highly likely).
Once we arrive at the farm you’ll sit back & relax while your host, a veteran oyster farmer shares with you the history of oyster farming, including how world class oysters are produced in Coffin Bay.
We’ll also teach you how to shuck like a pro!
The oyster farmer also gives an update on the Angasi Reef Restoration Project, a community based initiation to restore extinct angasi oyster reefs in Coffin Bay.
Now the time has come to indulge in some freshly shucked, world class oysters.
These can be paired with a variety of local beverages available to purchase which are the perfect accompaniment to premium oysters.
For those wanting to take their oyster tour experience to the next level & wade in sandy bottom oyster farm surrounded by turquoise blue waters we highly recommend checking out our other Farm & Bay tour.
Important Information:
Checkin – Tour checkin time is strictly 15 minutes prior to you tour start time at the boat at berth 5 Coffin Bay Yacht Club floating jetty. The boat departs at the tour start time so please don’t be late as we would hate for you to miss the boat. We can’t wait unfortunately.
Tour Duration – Tour duration is an approximate only. If your tour finishes a little early it is only because of less numbers on board that day or weather has allowed us to finish everything a little quicker than normal.
Weather – The weather can quickly turn cold on the water, even when fine, sunny conditions are forecasted so we always advise bringing a warm jacket & beanie.
What to Bring – We also recommend you pack sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses & a camera (you are definitely going to want to capture this experience!)
Minors – Children 0-5yrs must be strictly supervised by their parents at all times. Please note if you have a minor on board during busy tour times and they have not paid for a seat then they will be expected to sit on your lap if required.
We welcome children & infants on our tours. We find that most children are really curious about oysters, how they’re grown, the oyster boat, plus the marine life that we encounter along the cruise. However our skippers talk is approximately 20-30mins long which is generally not of interest to little ones. Therefore we recommend parents bring a quiet activity for this part of the tour (an iPad with head phones is ideal) or an exciting snack to keep the kids entertained during this time.
Alternatively families have the option to sit in the outside seating area during this part of the tour if they’d be more comfortable, which is an ideal location to spot an array of sea-creatures in the oyster farm.
Occasionally we have a few oyster bags to return to the water, if your booking is a special occasion & you don’t want this to happen please let us know.
*Please note that this tour does not include a wading experience, if you are interested in a wading experience please check out our Farm & Bay Tour options on our Book Now page.
We require good hygiene practices by each tour participant. Please adhere to the following requirements:
* wash your hands often with soap and water.
* use alcohol-based hand sanitisers when you can’t us soap and water.
* avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
* maintain your 1.5m social distancing requirements.
* cover your mouth when coughing etc.

The woman opening oysters was amazing to watch, so fast. All in, a really good value experience.

Putting on waders and walking through rows of oysters was unique, and being able to eat oysters freshly collected from the ocean will stay engraved in my memory for a very long time!
Finally, the guide’s knowledge of the local oyster farming industry made this trip very interesting and educative.
The oysters were incredibly tasty—the best I've ever had.
To top it off, we saw seal lions and dolphins. Epic day! We highly recommend this experience!

Brilliant host
Wine bird in hand rose the best ever
Highly recommend

Tour was very informative, we didn't eat the oysters, as I personnel don't like raw
oysters.
I would recommend this tour to anyone, very professional run.
Well Done Guys

On our particular tour there were quite a few tourists and the deckhand was very capable in shucking the required dozens of oysters that were ordered.
The wading experience amongst the oyster lease was great and offered us the perspective of the farmers.
A very good tour.

The water was crystal clear.
Scott and Lisa were brilliant hosts - Scott’s info chat on the oyster industry and Coffin Bay history was fantastic- clear, concise and very informative.
The oysters tasted amazing!
Would highly recommend this experience.

Last but not least the history about the region and info about the oysters is fascinating. There's a reason these oysters are sought after all over the world!
Coffin Bay oysters will definitely be my number 1 choice from now on!

Scotty and Mags were knowledgeable, articulate and very welcoming.
I thought it was one of the best-value tours we have done in many years. Could not recommend it higher.

We were both disappointed.

and seals. Truly a wonderful 3 hour tour. Tour departures at different times depending on when is low tide.We got in the water in the waders provided, fun good photo opportunity.
Good weather and most important thing is the great oyster that they provide.
Very detailed explanation on the history of coffin bay.
Get to go to the farm itself and understand more about this industry
Really worth to go

The oysters were just superb! Never will i go past a feed of ousters from Coffin Bay! It would be absolutely stunning on a good day!
Worth the time and money!

The vessel was really well laid out for its size.
His tour included some awesome dolphin watching, a wading tour of the Oyster lease in the main bay & a brief visit to the Bros Island to watch the Sealions. There was an oyster tasting if you wanted it.
Got back in 3 hours which included a really well presented, mini history, of the Oyster fishing, farming and general history of Coffin Bay. He’s quite a funny character too. Worth the time regardless of your interest in oysters! Thanks to Scottie, Crew & Owner-Farmers.

The staff were exceptional, clear speaking, informative and knowledgeable and kind.. nothing was too much trouble 10/10

Alcohol and oysters on the boat after walking in the sea. Amazing experience!
