YOLO.... no regrets! I was looking for a tour that would be TO AND FROM Hobart, since so many tours are not round-trip. This was perfect. Great day, luckily we had great, clear weather. The breakfast and dinner stops were DELICIOUS. The hike to the lookout was challenging, but WORTH IT.
If you're someone who looks at the bad reviews like me, to the one lady with car-sickness: Sam was very sensitive and accommodating to me. I was worried over this with no reason to be. He took care of all his guests and was compassionate and made sure I was alright. As mentioned, the frequent stops are helpful and well timed.
HIGHLIGHT of my entire trip was stopping for a minute to see the NIGHT SKY! We had a remarkable, cloudless view so I appreciate the stop for something I'll never be able to see in the U.S.! Thank you Sam.
I highly recommend this tour if you want to see Tasmania outside of the city! Just do it!

Cradle Mountain Experience I was worried about the long day I was about to embark on but Sam had it broken up so with numerous stops along the way.
Breakfast was absolutely delicious.
Then onto Cradle Mountain for the
Most amazing day ever.
We finished our day with dinner at a country pub. The food was yum yum. I can’t rate Sam highly enough, experienced driver, excellent guide and all round a very nice person.

If you are looking for a fun filled day this is your trip.

This tour didn't feel like 15 hrs! This tour didn't feel like 15 hrs! Everything was well planned and there were enough breaks to recover. The size of the group was well chosen too. Sam was great guide, giving us recommendations also for the hikes depending on the weather situations. You can walk by your own pace and fitness level. Thanks a lot. I can definitely recommend the tour.

Cradle mountain I had a fantastic experience on Sam’s Cradle Mountain tour. The itinerary was really well thought out, with great stops along the way that made the journey just as enjoyable as the destination itself. One highlight was the visit to the cranberry farm—the food there was absolutely delicious and a unique touch to the trip.

Sam was incredibly knowledgeable and shared plenty of interesting insights throughout the tour, which made the whole experience even more engaging. On top of that, the driving was smooth and comfortable, so I could just relax and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tasmania!

Long but great day Sam was great! Pick up time as scheduled as well as drop off. I appreciated the mini stops along the way to help break up the long ride up to Cradle Mountain (and back). Also great breakfast and dinner places. Sam was friendly and amiable and put everyone at ease, and gave a great overview of what we'd expect in the park. We kept to a good timetable but given the length of the tour, it's whats required. Def recommend! We're glad we didn't drive ourselves.

Highly Recommended — Fantastic Guide and a great day out! We joined the Cradle Mountain tour with Sam and had an excellent experience. The weather changed a few times during the day, but Sam was well prepared and handled everything smoothly. Some guests weren’t dressed warmly enough, and he kindly lent jackets to them.

His instructions were always clear, and he had good backup plans - the cafe which we originally was supposed to go to had a power outage but Sam promptly reacted to it and arranged with the other cafe (with excellent food too!) beforehand so that we could be on schedule. For dinner, he did the same and took our orders in advance - highly efficient! +++

Sam was attentive throughout the day and ensured everyone was comfortable . We also appreciated the small local snack he offered — what nice touch it was!

Sam is very knowledgeable and shared information at a good pace. He was also responsive on text and punctual.

Something that stood out: my husband left his Australian hat in the vehicle. Sam found it, messaged us, and later delivered it to our hotel even though he didn’t have to. We really appreciated that extra effort.

Overall, we felt well looked after from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour and Sam as a guide.

Memorable experience! This tour really was great! It's an early start at 6am, but Sam is good enough to pick you up from close to your accommodation, so that definitely helps.

There are some stops along the way (including hearty breakfast) allowing time for photos, and taking in the scenery. Sam himself is very friendly, and the group size is small at ~10 people, so you get to know everyone a bit by the end. We got to Cradle at 10:30, did a rain forest walk, Dove Lake itself at 12:30 pm, and left at 4:30 pm, so a solid 5-6 hours of exploring, with different hiking tracks available. There was also a nice dinner on the way back to Hobart.

For what you get including travel there and back, ticket entry to the mountain, and several hours there, I feel the fee is pretty fair. This tour is best for people with limited time to travel up to Cradle, and if you don't have access to a car. But would definitely recommend it to anyone! Thanks Sam!

A rainy but beautiful afternoon of trekking This was a great experience for me. I was in Tasmania for the first time and decided to explore the areas in and around Hobart. However, as I love nature, I couldn’t miss out on Cradle Mountain. This day tour allowed me to enjoy a beautiful afternoon of trekking while being able to return to Hobart in the evening. Sam, our guide, took great care of us. He took us to lovely local businesses to enjoy delicious food and shared a lot of details about Cradle Mountain and the nearby areas.

Great Way To Reach Cradle From Hobart I went on this experience and it was great time! The drive was gorgeous, had plenty of breaks in scenic areas and cool towns, and the perfect amount of commentary. The drive flew by, and Sam took care of everything. Even though it was stormy, it was still beautiful to experience the Cradle Mountain area. Four hours there flew by. It is one of the best parts of Tasmania, and Sam's tour makes it possible to experience even when staying in Hobart. This was the highlight of my Tasmania trip!

Incredible experience ! Not only the trip was filled with beautiful landscapes, but highlighted with charming towns, picturesque trails and heavenlike Dove lake. Words cannot express how beautiful these places are!! What a fantastic tour guide and driver Mr. Sam was. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone was doing ok. I highly recommend the tour to anyone who visits Tasmania and stays in Hobart but would like to explore Cradle Mountain area. You won’s regret it! Thank you, Sam for making our time on the island more memorable!

Great day out Sam is a fantastic guide, was a great day, highly recommend this day trip. Long day, but the sights and experiences were well worth the effort.

A wonderful full day Hobart - Cradle Mountain and return Sam took great care of us on a huge day out. It was such a pleasure to be picked up and driven to and from Cradle Mountain. It is a tiring day so it's great not to have the hassle of driving. Many guests dosed on the way up and down. The breakfast and dinner stops were fantastic - much more personal than a service station or takeaway option, and the food at both places was amazing. Cradle Mountain itself was spectacular, even though we were there on a cold and rainy day. I travelled with my 16 year old son and it was the perfect solution for us to make the most of the day. I'd highly recommend this tour. Thanks again Sam!

Great guide, beautiful place, nature at its best. Sam was a great guide, and Cradle Mountain was a truly beautiful place. And although the weather wasn't favourable, I still had a memorable experience at Dove Lake. Highly recommend.

Amazing Cradle Mountain tour from Hobart Sam was an amazing tour guide. Wealth of local Tassie knowledge. Warm, friendly whilst being professional. Great day out at Cradle Mountain! Thanks Sam!

Magical Cradle Mountain (and more) - a tour not to be missed! This trip was the highlight of my stay in Tasmania. Sam made the trip enjoyable with safety, friendliness and knowledge. It's the only tour to Cradle Mountain that goes from Hobart and if you don't feel like the drive then this is a must! Especially as this is a small tour.

The journey was made to feel less long by regular breaks along the way. Stopping at the picturesque town of Ross for a bathroom break, time to stretch the legs and grab a coffee. The next stop was Deloraine for breakfast, then another stop at Sheffield for some time to snap some pics of Mount Roland before heading to Cradle Mountain.

On the way back to Hobart we stopped again at Sheffield before heading to Deloraine for dinner. The bus was extremely comfortable with phone charging points, recliner seats.

Overall, great weather throughout the journey. Sam took us on the smaller circuit - Enchanted Garden near Peppers then we as a group did the Dove Lake circuit which was just breathtaking. We then did the Ronnie walk to spot some wombats. We then headed to Peppers Lodge for a refreshment and warm up next to he fire.

I definitely recommend Sam and this tour for those who wish to visit Cradle Mountain, without having to travel to Launceston.

Exhilarating and breathtaking. Fantastic breathtaking sights on the road trip back and forth, as well as the lakes and birds' eye view from the Cradle mountain peaks. Hike was very intense but good exercise.

Lovely seeing Wombats up front close and personal. Though our tour guide was late in the morning (thus running a bit overtime at the end); he made it up to us with free coffee and the trip still went smoothly and fantastically. Very importantly, glad he's safe.

Waking up early in the morning for this was so worth it!

A Glimpse of the Derwent An all inclusive introduction and insight to what the Hobart region has to offer. A good selection of wine, spirits and beers offered for tasting along with an ample tasting dish at one winery.

Wonderful Tour Wonderful tour! The tour is well-organized! Despite the drizzling day, still a memorable experience! Will recommend this tour to others!

Cradle Mountain Journey: Just glad I made it back alive There are so many things to be said, but I'll take them one by one.

Good bits:
- Early start and hotel pickup
- Breakfast break
- Overall, first part of the day was pleasant

Now the not so good bits:
- Sam has no care for the passengers, driving 128-132km/h where the speed limit is 100-110km (see picture attached)
- We almost got into an accident 3 times, because of speed and inability to stop in time at the roundabout, or when joining the main roads. Some other drivers even beeped at him.
- Super rushed day, the enchanted walk that is 1km, took a few minutes as he walked at a really fast pace.
- For Dove Lake and Rooney Creek we got 3hrs and 30 mins. When we got to near the end of the walk (we hadn't yet reached the end), he was already approaching us because there were 5 more minutes left and we were not at the meeting point 😑). 3.5hrs for all of that, if you are not someone that goes hiking a lot it is far from enough time to enjoy it. My partner and I are not out of shape and still had to rush, and had no time for stops on the trail
- If you have any sort of health issues and require to have a front view (travel sickness), he will question the seriousness of it and make you feel guilty about it. I know how to manage my travel sickess well with precautions, hence why I can take trips such as this because I usually have companies that are understanding and accomodating. Sadly this was not the experience we had. To explain, we were the last ones picked up in the morning and the only seats left were with him at the front (great, because I can manage my sickness by being in the front seat of a car with a full window view). When we were due to return to our hotels, he said he wants to shuffle the seats around, I then explained about my travel sickness and was questioned, quote "Really!?" in a sarcastic tone. He became confrontational and proceeded to make me feel guilty and like an inconvenience. He said that it's not fair on the others because we had front seats on the way there (which was out of our control even if this wasn't the case, I would have raised my concerns then). After much dispute, he continued to protest that it's unfair on everyone else. I was made to feel so bad in front of others in the group to the point that I had to give in, and I said that if he will move me to the back, then I at least need to know before we eat, so I don't have food on the way back in case it makes me feel unwell or makes me sick. Others in the group approached me following the conversation and expressed their disagreement with how I was being treated and checked to see if I was okay, which I really appreciated.

We then get back on the bus and he left it as it was, and we remained at the front, but it felt extremely awkward following what had just happened. Then after we had the dinner stop off he insisted that everyone moves seats and moved me to the seat right at the back, which I had previously told him is not good for me and my health. When he was informing other passengers that they need to move seats I could clearly see that I wasn't the only one having an issue with the seat shuffling. Unfortunately, Sam couldn't care less and did it anyway making a very uncomfortable 2 1/2 hour journey back to the hotel, alongside erratic driving. It was extremely distressing to be made to feel in such a way that I did. There was a complete lack of compassion for health issues and it's sad that the trip was ruined due to Sam's attitude on the second half of the day.

Open your palate to a new world! What an amazing way to see and taste your way through Tasmania! We had an incredible day with Sam, and loved that he supports small, family owned businesses. Many other tours take you to the larger, well established wineries and distilleries , but we loved the intimate, small group experience. There was something for everyone and the tour opened our palates to new favourites. A must do for anyone visiting Hobart and surrounds!

sam is an excellent guide and this was the best day i had in tasmania sam is an excellent guide, very kind and accommodating and knowledgeable. it is a long day but well worth it to see cradle
mountain which is incredible. this is my favorite thing i did in tasmania and so glad there is a tour that allows you to see cradle
mountain as a day trip from hobart

Cradle mountain was a highlight in my trip to Tasmania! Walking along the boardwalk and seeing wombats was so much fun, and the scenery along the way is very beautiful!

Sam is such a caring and generous tour guide, and his passion for the country is infectious! He made the long drive to and from Hobart feel manageable, including fun stops for good food and seeing cows up close! Also, the weather wasn’t looking great when we reached the mountain, so Sam gave me a waterproof jacket to wear on the walk – so thoughtful!

I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to explore Cradle Mountain, but doesn’t have access to a car to travel there themselves (coordinating the travel with Sam was a breeze and he is very responsive to messages). Thanks again for the amazing time, Sam 😊

I absolutely cannot recommend Sam enough for the tour to Cradle Mountain, which is still leaving vivid memories of the tour (and the wombats!) weeks after.

Sam has put together a smooth and well executed day trip from Hobart, with breakfast and dinner stopovers in places that easily makes some of the best food in Tassie. His passion for showing Cradle Mountain shines through during the tour and it's hard-pressed to find someone more passionate about Tasmania, and his warm personality makes the drive at both ends of the tour so much better.

Thank you so much for the experience Sam.

Bad weather, great experience. We still had a great time despite having the worst weather during our day-trip to Cradle Mountain. Sam is awesome and found ways for us to still enjoy the beauty of scenery. His coach is also very comfortable, which made the trip all the more pleasant. We will go back on a better season. We highly recommend Sam!

You mush join this if you go to hobart and want to go to cradle mountain Sam is the best tour guide i have met. He is talkative, humorous and nice. I have the best road trip. The breakfast is the best.

Superb and Amazing Experience! San is an amazing tour guide, he is the owner of Derwent Experience. He's very accommodating and he took us on a very long journey to Cradle Mountain. Lunch and dinner in the chosen restaurants were superb, and he made sure we were all comfy and okay for the long journey. The tour started at 6am and we were dropped off back at Hobart at around 9pm. Cradle Mountain is very far from Hobart and Sam is the only tour provider that runs the day trip to Cradle Mountain, which saved my entire trip to Tasmania. Cradle Mountain is amazing, you wouldn't want to think twice about visiting this place. It is a must visit place if you are in Tasmania. We had about 10 or 11 people in the group and I was the only one that did the hiking up to the Marion Lookout. The view is breathtaking and wouldn't waste all of your effort at all. There was light showers and very windy as I hiked up, but saw rainbows appreared a few times up there. On my way down, I saw 3 wombats. If you have any breathing or walking difficulties, you could do a full circuit trekking of Dove Lake instead of going up. All the best Sam and thanks so much again for looking after us. It was my best daytrip in Tasmania!

Excellent day tour Sam was impeccable at ensuring every aspect of our day was wonderful. He chose great food stops and was very patient. I loved his thorough knowledge of Tasmania. Faultless.

The Derwent Experience… so worth it with Sam! Great day with our guide Sam, from The Derwent Experience; from the New Norfolk Distillery where we sampled a variety of rums, gins and liqueurs, then a visit to Salmon Ponds, the oldest trout and salmon hatchery in the southern hemisphere where we enjoyed plump Tassie cherries and a soft sparkling wine, to a tasty cheese platter and selection of 6 wines at Stefano Lubiana estate, a sixth generation of family farmers. We then visited Richmond (quaint country town) and walked the oldest working stone bridge in Australia (built by convicts in 1823), then experienced the distillery flavours at the Charles Reuben estate who also produce three wines and we loved their Riesling and finished with a paddle of craft beers at the Last Rites Brewing Company (ps: only open on Fridays at this time). There was also little bits in between that added to the experience (like good local coffee to start the day, antiques and shops) plus Sam has good local knowledge, is friendly, easy, and great company. So totally recommend ; an unforgettable day you must do it!

Best tour ever ???????? This has been my best tour in my entire life, Sam is really lovely taking care of every detail. It’s admirable that he does this tour from Hobart because it’s very far away, I think it’s excellent value for money, it’s an intense day, it must be tiring for Sam to arrive late every night after the tour, but with all his effort he makes it possible for all of us to enjoy.
Even being far away Sam left us enough time to enjoy that wonderful mountain and its landscapes. I also met wonderful people on this tour with very good vibes. I will never forget this day, thank you Sam for making me and many other people happy, I will be eternally grateful to you.

Fantastic Wine Tour by Derwent Experiences Fantastic wine tour by Sam Derwent, the best, the places we visited, the hospitality by Sam, was above and beyond, a tour company committed to excellence and fun

Derwent Experience!!! Best tour in 20yrs of traveling. Cannot describe enough!! FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!! Difficult to know where to start because SAM is the best excursion we have taken in our 20 years of travelling. His attention to detail where everything is planned and I mean everything from the meals to the time in the vehicle the stops . The day is long because we had perfect stops, meals, information, etc that we did not feel overwhelmed by the travel. We were even sharing on the return trip music from our local favorites (Canada-Quebec) with everyone. We can actually say that the group on this day were tight and had a lot of fun. We met travelers from this excursion on other excursions and managed to welcome each other!!. All smiles. I have not even talked about Tasmania-Cradle Mountain which was the highlight of our 8 days in Tasmania. We still talk about it. SAM thanks for the memories and this one stands out on our 6week trek accross Australia. Paul + Rachel.

Thank you Sam! What an amazing day we had - three generations of girls - my mum, myself and my daughter. Thank you for looking after my mum while we walked to the top of Cradle Mountain.
Great driver, awesome guide, genuine experience. 11 of us all up filled the van. A very comfortable ride to Cradle Mountain, with frequent stops along the way. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Simply fantastic! One of the most professional run tour company I've ever come across. Sam is an incredible guide, extremely knowledgable and knows how to deliver an amazing experience. Not the slighest thing to complain about.

Can't recommend Sam's tours more. Prompt and communicative, balanced providing cultural and historical knowledge and quiet time during the rides, and curated an action-packed, but relaxing time — well worth the price. I went on the Hobart Cradle Mountain day tour and it was the highlight of my time in Tas.

Perfect from start to finish Sam was amazing. Informative friendly and chill. His sense of time keeping impeccable. I strongly and highly recommend going to Cradle Mountain from Hobart because Sam takes you through some absolutely amazing parts of Tasmania stopping and explaining along the way. Bravo

Can’t recommend The Derwent Experience enough! Sam is extremely thoughtful and accommodating. We had a limited amount of time in Hobart and Sam was able to arrange a tour for us — on a day that the tour typically doesn’t run — with a private driver (who was also great, thank you, Graeme!). We took two of his tours (Ultimate Drinks Tour Tasmania and Hobart to Cradle Mountain Active Day Trip) and both were well-organized, personalizable, and lots of fun. Well worth the money and time spent. Thank you Sam and team!
Yana & Mira

Hobart to Cradle Mountain Day Trip Enjoyable small group day trip from Hobart to Cradle Mountain. It’s a long trip and well planned out by Sam with several rest stops and a breakfast and dinner break. His van is very comfortable. He provides lots of information and history about Tasmania along the way.
Cradle Mountain is fabulous. We took the hike around Dove Lake in 2.5 hours.
There are multiple trails of varying difficulty. We encountered very few people on the trail, it’s peaceful and beautiful.

All day Tasmania This was an amazing tour from Hobart to Cradle Mountain (UNESCO). This tour offers the unique experience to visit and hike Cradle Mountain all the way from Hobart without me having to rent and drive on the other side of the road myself. Our guide Sam is knowledgeable about all things Tasmania and maintained a good balance of taking rest stops and getting us to where we wanted to be. Highly recommend The Derwent Experience!

In planning a recent corporate reward and recognition trip, I made contact with Sam Bradley from The Derwent Experience. I was so lucky that my path crossed with The Derwent Experience.

From my initial contact with Sam to meeting him in person, his genuine passion and knowledge of Tasmania combined with his professional yet personable approach was such a pleasure. Sam guided me through our entire experience in planning, understanding my requirements and general vibe then tailoring an itinerary specific for us - Sam nailed it.

On our tours, Sam became part of our team. He knew my guest's names, engaged with us and all of the attractions that he took us to were outstanding and uniquely Tasmanian. Sam made the experience, seamless and truly enjoyable.

I highly recommend The Derwent Experience for future corporate or social groups visiting Tasmania.

It was such an amazing tour. It was such an amazing tour. I was glad to go to Cradle Mt. from Hobart which was definitely a long trip. But Sam made it all possible! He was so nice and friendly, giving extra care to people who didn’t bring enough warm clothes to wear. He explained everything thoroughly before we started our hike to Dove lake circuit. Cradle Mt. was splendid and I couldn’t stop saying “wow” for hours. It is a MUST day-trip tour to go for if you are coming to Hobart! Yeah!

Had a wonderful day with Sam heading out to Cradle Mountain from Hobart. An awesome way to see so much of Tasmania all in one day. We got to see so much countryside, he took us through many cute towns and had great knowledge of the history in the areas. We got up to the Cradle Mountain National Park and despite the weather being too dangerous to do the usual trails Sam had a plan b walk for us to do. An amazing experience hiking through the mountains for 3 hours in the afternoon in amongst the snow! It was just a surreal experience! An amazing day without any of the stress because Sam had everything organised and planned. Thankyou Sam, highly highly recommend the trip to anyone interested!

The only and best day-trip to Mt.Cradle from Hobart Sam is the best driver in Tasmania and his van is absolutely comfortable. Although the tour was started at 6am, we slept very well while he drove the car for us.

He knew lots of interesting photo spots like great lake and ox farm. He was very friendly and explained everything about the tour(ETA, route, what's good at there) and answered every question we asked.
We were not native English speakers so we're not used to Aussie accents, but Sam spoke to us with clear accent and slowly so that we can understand well. The cradle mountain was so beautiful and wombats were so cute!

Thanks a lot, Sam. It was really lucky to meet you as our tour guide.

We booked two last minute tours with Sam for Cradle Mountain and Freycinet National Park. We wanted someone to take us to each and only had a day for each. Not an easy task at all. We wanted to pack in as much as we could and cover a ton in two days. Sam delivered and then some! We couldn’t be more pleased!

He found us two guides willing to commit very long days with us, Cradle Mountain is quite the drive, and our guide for Freycinet showed us spots we didn’t know existed but we’re so happy he took the time to show us. They both also taught us so much about Tasmania and made sure we saw and experienced all that we wanted. The tours were truly incredible! Sam really organized two amazing tours in such a short period of time. Would book again and again, and fell in love with Tasmania.

Sam was an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and passionate. This is a 5/5 star day trip. B prepared for a long car ride to cradle mountain but Sam’s van is super comfy and the stopovers are very scenic so it doesn’t feels like 4 hours at all. Over all, the trip was well planned and organised. The van fits 11 passengers, if you are into small group activities, this is perfect for you.

The cradle mountain tour was truly amazing. Sam’s a really friendly and caring guide. He offered to drive to our place early in the morning to pick us up to save us an hour’s walk and dropped us at our doorstep at the end of the day. He also brought jackets and umbrellas for us unprepared hikers to brave the high altitude cold.

Even though we had a long drive from Hobart, we were still able to spend enough time at Cradle mountain. We also got even more than advertised. We stopped at the Great Lake lookout for a nice view, a farm area to see an ox, and a secluded area at night to see the milky way galaxy! Great job on the tour Sam!

Sam is such a nice and genuine guy. My wife and I recently booked onto the Hobart to Cradle Mountain and back 1 day tour, the amount of scenery we covered in 1 day was amazing. Thanks so much from Rach and I, we had an amazing time ????

A memorable experience with my son I went to Cradle Mountain with my teen son and it was a wonderful experience. The experience was made even better with our guide, Sam. Sam was friendly and knowledgeable and kept you entertained on the long ride to the mountain and back. Sam also brought us for breakfast and dinner at one of the best places to dine in Tasmania. Thank you Sam. I will definitely consider taking up your services to Cradle Mountain again, this time during the snowy season.

Best day ever! Excellently arranged day
Great variety showcasing Tasmania’s produce
Gorgeous countryside
Wonderful people
Prompt, casual well managed trip

Sam's tour was quite 'eye opening'! We went to places close to Hobart that I would never have known about, who knew they made yummy spiced rum in New Norfolk?! This is a great combination of tasting and some history and great Tassie scenery, and a great finish at a yummy, conveniently located in Hobart craft brewery.
Recommended, Sue and Rob

Best Day Out Sam was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. A wonderful variety of destinations kept the interest up all tour. Highly recommended, would do this tour again. Found a couple of new ‘go to’ beverages we will be ordering for years.

The ultimate Cradle Mountain experience We took the Day trip from Hobart to Cradle Mountain and had a truly memorable experience. Our tour host Sam was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and enhanced the whole experience. He promptly picked us up from our hotel at 6am in the tour van that was very comfortable and had usb charging ports for our phones.

We got on our way after picking up the last few guests and made very good time to Cradle Mountain with a couple of rest stops on the way. During our journey to Cradle Mountain and back Sam would enlighten us with information and history of Tasmania as we passed landmarks such as the Derwent Bridge, the sustainable logging areas, etc. So we also had an educational perspective to support the beautiful scenery.

Our first stop was a toilet stop at a beautiful historical forest site where Sam gave us some Tassie apples that were so sweet and refreshing.

We then stopped in at Mamma Bee’s cafe in Deloraine where a morning coffee and an egg and bacon roll with home made tomato relish hit the spot and fuelled us up for the day ahead. It was worth noting that the cafe’s sausage rolls looked amazing and were the size of a baby’s forearm and in hindsight I wish I grabbed one.

Onwards to Cradle Mountain and we did one more quick stop to meet Hercules the highland cow and Junior Hercules who was so cute.

When we reached Cradle Mountain, Sam was well prepared. He had extra raincoats of the tour group needed them, he sorted out our park entry and shuttle passes, parked the shuttle, and took us on the Enchanted Walk trail which was a 20 minute walk. We saw wombats and wallabies and drank the purest water ever straight from the Mountain stream.

Sam then took us up to the Dove Lake shuttle stop, took our group to the Information Centre and explained the various hiking route options that were available, as well as his route recommendations based on the weather conditions and the experience of the group members.

Sam then took our group to the Dove Lake Boat Shed for a group pic and then let us loose for 4 hours of doing our own thing. We hiked to Marion’s Lookout via the Wombat Pool and had a brilliant view over Cradle Mountain despite the wet weather and the hike was totally worth it. We then made our way back to the rendezvous point with time to spare and enjoyed some mulled wine and an open fire.

Once the tour group reassembled we the headed back to Hobart, stopping at the bush Inn Brewhouse in Deloraine for a lovely country pub style meal where our group bonded over our day together. Sam also had additional blankets and towels if anyone was feeling cold.

Sam had us all back at our hotels safe and sound by 9pm and his driving was as safe as houses. Thank you once again Sam and The Derwent Experience for a truly wonderful experience. This was the highlight of our Tassie trip and we will see you again when we return. I highly recommend and rate The Derwent Experience and note that it is the only day trip from Hobart to Cradle Mountain and back.

Awesome day We had such a great day and bought some fantastic products. Sam is an excellent host, friendly and knowledgeable. Great locations, and really easy and convenient way to travel to them. Highly recommend.

My family and I were able to explore Tasmania in a day thanks to Sam's trip from Hobart to Cradle Mountain, seeing all the snow, walking with the breathtaking view of Dove Lake, and also enjoying the natural beauty and local area of Tasmania along the ride. We also got stuck in the snow, which was an unforgettable experience. It was a little worrying, but what an adventure! Sam was also very nice and made sure everyone was comfortable, which added to the enjoyment of the trip. I felt so lucky to have found this trip, and it made me want to visit Tasmania again in the future. Without a doubt, the best day tour in Tasmania!

A combination of work and tours. Sam was a great driver with lots local knowledge, very friendly and a great variety of tastings and food. A combination of history and country highlights plus great conversations with other travellers.

I highly recommend booking Sam (The Derwent Experience) when visiting Hobart. We thoroughly enjoyed our two days out with Sam to the Derwent and Coal River Valley regions visiting 11 venues over the weekend. He curated the perfect tour visiting some amazing cellar doors.
We will definetly book a tour with Sam in the future if we visit Hobart again. Thanks Sam, we had a great weekend!

Tassies best drinks tour What an amazing experience. Start to finish this was the most fun ive had on a wine tour. Sam selects some of the region's best places to visit. Small group tours are always my favourite and i left with new friends and satisfied tastebuds. Highly recommended

Great day trip to Cradle Mt Such a good day, beautiful views, walking trails and an encounter with a wombat. Was lucky to see some fresh snow, but unfortunately missed Dove lake due to road conditions. I'd been wanting to do a day trip like this for a while. An early start and long day, but so worth it! Comfortable transport and friendly driver and guide.

Our experience was INCREDIBLE!
I can’t believe Sam (owner) made wine tasting tours a FAMILY-FRIENDLY one! He accommodated our request to bring along with us our kids since we also want them to enjoy the sceneries and the vineyards. Of course, they can’t have wines - Sam went above and beyond by making sure kids get busy also by bringing some color pads, crayons and other activities that our kids can enjoy.

Sam has been so helpful eversince I inquired about their services down to the day of our tour. He shared to us further what we can do at Hobart during the rest of our stay. If I had known that he offered other tour services other than the wine tastings, we would’ve had him the entire duration of our stay! ✨

Thank you, Sam!

It’s just amazing Thanks Sam for having us, the 5 solo traveler. Sam is friendly and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire journey of 15 hours! Needless to say, the cradle mountain itself is magical and incredible. But Sam added flavour by making a few reasonable stops for nice meals, watching the highland cows and also showing us the southern cross on our way home when he spotted the clear skies with stars.. thanks Sam, you are just wonderful!

Awesome The tour is just amazing and totally worth it. When you really wanna see one of Tasmania's jewels of nature, do the tour. Sam tells you many informative and interesting facts and you can spend so much time doing hikes and enjoying the beauty of nature at Mount Cradle wich is just stunning. The day ends with a lovely dinner and you'll get home exhausted but totally happy. So if you really wanna see what Tassie is really like, I can really recommend doing the Mount Cradle Tour with Sam.
