Begin Your Journey: Your adventure starts at the Neates Glen car park, about two hours west of Sydney. From there, hike steeply down through lush temperate rainforest and past impressive rock formations, preparing to don your wetsuit, helmet, and harness for the journey ahead.
Experience the Canyon: As you begin your descent, enjoy a thrilling 20-meter abseil into the cool canyon, where you’ll find beautifully sculpted sandstone walls and vibrant greenery. The winding path through the canyon allows for plenty of swimming, scrambling over rocks, and marveling at the striking orange crayfish. This area is a living remnant of Gondwana vegetation, providing a glimpse into Australia’s ancient past.
Stunning Views Await: As you make your way back out, be rewarded with spectacular views at Evans Lookout, showcasing the dramatic cliffs and lush valleys of the Blue Mountains.


Difficulty: Suitable for beginners, families or those wanting an experience with minimal abseiling.

Requirements: Moderate level of fitness, full mobility, good general health, comfortable in water and good hiking fitness.

Expectations: Adventurous activities are tough – you must expect the possibility of, at times, being uncomfortable, wet, cold, tired and scared.

Don’t book this tour without first discussing what the tour involves with all members of your group and checking they meet the fitness requirements.

Length: Approximately 4 hours.

Included: All canyoning equipment, qualified canyoning guide, safety instruction including on abseiling techniques.

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

You will be required to fill out a waiver and medical form on the day. Unaccompanied participants under 18 years of age must have a consent and medical form completed prior by a parent or legal guardian prior to the activity. Please contact us if this is required.

MEETING LOCATION

Unless specified otherwise, the default meeting location for this activity is at Neates Glen Parking Area, 215 Evans Lookout Rd, Blackheath. A google maps link to this location is provided above next to the start time above.
There are no bathroom facilities at this location.

Late arrival will result in your tour commencing without you. It is impossible to join the tour once it has commenced.

What to bring for Canyoning:

• Durable older clothing. Dress weather appropriately (check weather forecasts).
• Fleece/warm jacket, thermal undershirt, long pants – if the weather is cold this is critical.
• Running shoes, joggers or trainers to wear in the canyon (they will get wet). Shoes must be enclosed.
• Swimming attire (wear under clothes).
• 2 liter of water or more.
• Sunscreen.
• Hair ties for long hair.
• Sunglasses (optional).
• Camera (optional, must be waterproof and strongly tied to your body).

Canyoning backpacks will be provided to carry canyoning equipment. Clothes worn into the canyon can be placed in dry bags to stay dry after changing into wetsuits at the start of the canyon. These clothes are worn again when exiting the canyon.

Leave the following behind in your car for after the tour:
• A towel.
• Change of clothes.
• Change of footwear.

Please leave valuables at home as we cannot guarantee their safety. Especially jewelry and non-waterproof electronics. Any item brought into the canyon has the potential to be lost or destroyed due to water ingress, impact etc.
