The Crazy cat crew Super fun tour. Our group was nice and small, and all crazy cat people so we got along really well! Brigette was incredibly knowledgeable and great company and all the bars were fun with yummy drinks. Highly recommend even if you’re travelling solo.

Whisky and Gin Joints Tour experience - January 2025 I joined a tour led very capably by Lenny. He provided lots of information and some good humour as we walked the Melbourne city streets and visited three bars with specialties in whisky and gin over more than 3 hours. Although I am a local, I was unfamiliar with these venues but will certainly return with people I know in the future. At each venue we were provided with a paddle of three tastings. Whilst I enjoy both whisky and gin, I broadened my knowledge and tasted an interesting variety of products none of which I had previously come across but several of which I hope to try again! Lenny was also able to recommend a number of other bars around the city centre to explore. It was a fun afternoon which I would recommend for anyone keen to discover great places to have a drink in Melbourne and taste Australian whiskies and gins.

Drinking history Interesting tour lead by Brigette. Was a nice way to spend time discovering parts of Melbourne and find out interesting tales of the past. Seeing buildings and bars that you walk past but don’t know is a fun discovery too

A ‘must-do’ when in Melbourne These tours are a ‘must do’ for visitors and locals. Our tour guide, Brigette, was very knowledgeable about our particular tour - Hidden Bars & Laneway Legends - with really interesting facts and information.
She has a great manner and sense of humour and took us to some very cool hidden bars.
The afternoon went too quickly and everyone on the tour had a great time.
We got to meet the owners at the last bar and they shouted everyone a round of shots - how good is that? We have also done the Whiskey and Gin tour hosted by the same company which was awesome too!
We are booking the another tour - the Hidden Bars & Creepy Tales tour which we’ve heard is pretty amazing too!
I’d recommend when booking, you book the tour that includes the drinks especially if you’re drinking cocktails. The bar stops are around 30-40 minutes which is plenty of time to order your drink and drink it.
There were plenty of stops in between each bar with really interesting information provided by our great guide, Brigette.
Stay in town or get a driver or public transport as you definitely shouldn’t be driving after one of these tours. 10/10 - Highly recommended.

Authentic, fun journey to the past of a great city This is a fascinating and entertaining way to become familiar with this amazing city. The guides told some gripping yarns of Old Melbourne as we wander through the lanes and streets, painting a picture of a colourful past and their ghostly remains. This is an ideal tour not only for visitors, but for Melbourne residents. I was born and have grown up and lived here all my life and still learnt things that have changed the way that I look at my birthplace. I really enjoyed myself. The tour itself is expertly organised by a very professional crew and I can’t recommend this highly enough. There are some other tours offered as well, and I may do them at a later date. Check them out.

Fantastic afternoon I had a lot of fun on this tour and our guide Brigette was great. Funny weird occasionally creepy stories and a great take on the history of Melbourne. The bars we visited were very cool. I would not have found them on my own.

Brigette is a true historian and shared her passion and humour with us. Great historical information with an appropriate amount of macabre content to live up to the title. Bars were spread out over the downtown core and interesting with a nice selection of beer, wine, yummy cocktails and assorted non-alcoholic drinks as well. Hidden bars and laneway legends My 22yo daughter took some convincing to do this tour with me but absolutely loved learning the drinking history of Melbourne and discovering some hidden gems we will be sure to return to again. Our guide Michael was very knowledgeable, approachable and ensured our tour was relaxed and fun. We were lucky to have been able to join a great group. Highly recommend!

The morbid content that isn’t seen at surface level Good stuff if you’re looking to get more of the morbid details of Melbourne. You get to see some pretty cool bars too. I reckon if you’re new to the city, this tour is a good introductory to learn about some darker history.

Hidden Bars & Laneways great fun for solo travellers Had a great tour of Hidden Bars & Laneways. As a solo traveller from Canada, this was a great way to discover places I would probably not find on my own. Tom was a great tour guide, providing an historical context to the bar, coffee, food and art culture of Melbourne today. The visit/drinks at 2 bars was a fun opportunity to meet/chat with both locals and visitors. I would definitely recommend Drinking History Tours to fellow travellers.

Tale by Tale, Pint by Pint We were lucky to be hosted by the Big Bossman Ben as he brought us on a walk down CBD across a few landmarks, such as QV market down south to Flinders. Tale by Tale, Pint by Pint we were delightfully entertained with stories of creepy/scary/ghostly history bits of Melbourne City which you wouldn't come across even if you walked every single pavement of the CBD. Thanks for the introduction to the laneway bar scene as well!

Worth every cent We did the Hidden Bars & Creepy Tales tour on the weekend and had the best time. We learned so much interesting, grisly and spooky history walking through the streets of our state’s capital, thanks to our fantastic, knowledgeable and fun guide Lenny. The three bars we visited were very funky and made THE coolest looking cocktails. Definitely considering a return to Melbourne soon for another tour from your offerings. Thanks for a fun afternoon.

Drinking and history tours of old Melbourne town The tour started around 3.30 pm after some very ordinary Victorian weather.
We meet Alda outside the Transport bar and we all introduce ourselves to each other.
It was a cool breeze blowing so Alda wasn’t no time starting our Drinking and History tour.
The cocktails hit mark every time and the venues were amazing, the History and knowledge that Alda showed was brilliant and we will be back to do this again.
Highly recommend.

Laughs and Drinks in Melbourne Excellent history and drinking tour of Melbourne. Have lived in Melbourne most of my life and still learnt so much and saw parts Ive never noticed before. Whiskey and Gin History tour I was on this tour with a friend for his birthday present. The tour guide was very informative and had lots of information about the history of Melbourne distilleries. We went to 3 bars and although everyone on the tour were whiskey lovers we had more Gin than Whiskey. I was a bit disappointed as we thought we were getting a whiskey tour. If you like Gin this is definatley the tour for you.

Not as expected Guide very nice but tales not very creepy or interesting and took too long to get the actual reason for the story. Would have been nice to have more than a “quick drink” in each bar. First bar nice and quirky 2nd bar terrible and 3rd bar excellent.

Interesting but not scary Our guide Alfa was very knowledgeable and the stories she told were interesting but I had expected a more ghostly and slightly scary experience. The bars were fun especially the last one with a hidden door. But overall the description did not match what I expected.

Fantastic experience. Interesting and entertaining It was a cold night, but that didn't matter. We enjoyed the walk, the stories, the bars and the drinks. Although we've lived in Melbourne for many years, we got to see a side we hadn't experienced before, and that was great.

Eye opener The night was fun. Full of laughs with enough information about the cities history. So exciting discovering hidden bars with fabulous cocktails. Great crowd to enjoy it with. Our host was fantastic, knowledgeable and fun. Def a must to do in the city. I am still waiting for the promised photos.

Something you must do The bars were amazing and the stories even better. One of the bars has trouble letting a guide dog in-they did eventually. Dealing with management was exceptional and very accommodating. Well done

Very informative, entertaining and the perfect duration and distance. Very interesting and entertaining tour of a fair coverage of the Melbourne CBD. The dialogue was informative and Alda our tour guide had a wealth of the facts beyond just the script. A great way to see Melbourne The talent of Lenny was very entertaining, he is a host with the most.
He did ask me to mention he is handsome, amazing, an all round talent and deserves a pay rise. All that said and done, I would certainly recommend the tour, a mix of history, city exploration and fun in the hidden bars.
