official Queensland public holidays, we hope you respect our policy.Who can join this class?
- Any child between 6 and 12 years ( if you are looking for a lesson the family can join- take a look at the “Family” lesson min age 8 years)
- Children under 6 we recommend a private lesson
- No swimming ability necessary. The lesson is conducted in waist deep water but you must be strong enough to hold onto your own surf board (parents may assist with this)
- All levels of fitness are welcome to join as you can participate at your own pace
- Any child with a medical condition or previous injury are recommended to seek the advice of your physician
- Our Shop is located behind the Seaway Cafe, at the end of Seaworld Drive Main Beach.
The seaway cafe is located in the carpark and parking is FREE all day.Check in time is 15 min prior to your lesson, to find us just walk down the right hand side between the Cafe and the amenities block and come in the back gate.
- Get Ready. We really need you to be in your swim wear when you arrive so we can get the class started on time. We will check you in, make sure everyone has arrived, grab a rashie/ wet suit and board and head down to the beach. Mum or Dad can jump in and help with carrying the board if you like but we do pair up the kids to make it easier for them to carry.
Get Started: This is where you have to listen, the instructors will run through a really important safety brief about the conditions you are surfing in on that day followed by some really easy techniques to help you get up on the board as easily as possible and maximise your vertical time on the board and of course how to fall off safely. Once the instructors are confident that you are all good to go, its then time to…
Get Wet: This is what you came for. The instructors will take the group down to the water together, before your big toe goes in they will run through the formation they need you to stay in so everyone gets a great crack at it and the instructors can give you tips. If you are doing what these expert instructors are telling you should be pretty much standing on your first or second wave!
- Get Vertical: At first the instructors will help by pulling you onto the best waves, but it won’t be long before you can pick your own and go for it. Some people learn faster than others for one reason or another, but the instructors are there to help everyone achieve the best they can. We do appreciate that some children may get tired or cold during the lesson, so the instructors may chose to come out of the water and do some warm up activities with them.
Get Sharing: after a good hour and 20 min (if you can last that long) in the water you should be tired, satisfied and have a big smile on your face, met some new friends and want to tell the world. It’s now time for the Instagram group pic so you can share with your friends. if the conditions are good and everyone has been catching lots of waves the instructors will do their best to grab some photos of you ripping, after the group photo we will all head back to the shop and they will show you your happy snaps on the big screen, to view your photos head to the Photo Store on the web site under the “about” tab ** the instructors will do everything they can to get some good shots of you but sometimes it’s just not possible- they will not compromise your safety for a photo.
- Get Dry: you will be a little salty and sandy so if you want to have a quick rinse off now is the time to nip off quickly to one of the outdoor fresh water showers and bathrooms and freshen up and get dry. Time to say good bye to your new mates and if you LOVED it, chat to the instructors about signing up for one of our beginner surf programs.
GIFT CARDS: Gift card purchases are valid for two years from the purchase date. If the recipient of the voucher can no longer use the voucher, it can be transferred to another person; no refunds allowed. If a product has a price increase the difference will need to be made up at the time of the booking. Gift card bookings on public holidays will have a surcharge applied

It was my first time and my friend's second time to surf and Angus taught us so well !
He was so helpful and friendly
And luckily there were only two of us at that time. (My friend & I)
So it feels like private lesson
Perfect for beginners
Highly recommend 🤙🤙

All in all I can definitely recommend booking a lesson, if you want to have some fun :)
We didn’t get round to taking photos in our lesson which was a shame but that’s probably because the time flew by so quickly. The showering/changing facilities weren’t the greatest either but adequate. The beach they use (The Spit) is great for learning and not crowded or too busy so this was a real positive.
Overall, the great staff and small-group lesson experience were the best bits and I would definitely go again if in the area / recommend it to others.

Gonna come back!!!!

It was really worth it and absolutely recommendable.
Thank you very much.

We will 100% be booking another session to build on what we learned.
Other things we loved about the session: easy access, free and plenty of parking, cafe nearby, safety instruction and focus, lesson length.

After the lesson, I asked the manager if they had anything more advanced. Unfortunately, they only had advanced lessons for kids. She asked me if I had lessons before, so I told her about my 5 lessons. Then the manager said that I could join the lesson even though I'm not a kid. However, one of the coaches said, "This is her first lesson with US. She had lessons in Victoria." It felt like he didn't think those counted for much. It was a bit disrespectful, honestly.
I don’t think I’ll go back to them for any lessons. I've never felt this way with any other surf schools.
My son Eli has attended lessons and has now progressed to squad lessons on a Sunday and after all this time I decided at 54 I need to experience what brings him so much happiness.
So I did a lesson and now I get it !
The professionalism of the staff and the passion they have to everyone attending is so great to have been a part of. Everything is explained so well and I think we all came away feeling so proud of ourselves.
I am left wanting more also.
Thank you to all the team at Get Wet Surf
We are excited to attend this course every day. We can see our own improvement every day. The teachers are amazing!
We definitely will come back next year!

Let me be that friend and tell you to look no further if you want to try out surfing.
I had the best time at Get Wet surf school. I came by for a beginners’ lesson and ended up upgrading to the three lessons package, which I found well worth it. The school is very flexible about when you get the lessons, and you can give them a call on the day and ask if there are any spots available.
During the three lessons I met four of the instructors all of them are funny, engaging and provide good constructive feedback.
10/10 would come again next time I’m in surfers paradise.
I would definitely have a lesson here again :)

Jason the surfing instructor is terrific and knows exactly the process to get you surfing and keep improving. I absolutely loved this experience and it’s the highlight of this year for me.
Got a second lesson two days later and learnt a lot again from Jason. I feel like I’m set to keep surfing now. Next time I’m visiting Gold Coast I’ll no doubt pop in again.

Surf lesson - We went through the basics (parts of the board, body positioning/stance, surfing safety, etc) with Matt on land and he provided a very clear and concise explanation for beginners. And Jason, our instructor in water, was the most encouraging and supportive instructor I’ve ever had. He seemed genuinely happy and excited about every little improvement I made. He also gave me a lot of useful tips and feedbacks. I eventually managed to catch some waves by myself and stand up for a few seconds on the first lesson!
My partner and I enjoyed every moment of the surf lesson, thanks to the friendly, approachable and supportive staffs at Get Wet Surf School. Unfortunately we are leaving Gold Coast in two days so we wouldn’t be able to book another session this time, but we will definitely return next time we visit Gold Coast. Highly recommend ????
